U.S. Xpress Truck driver (US.DOT.303024) trailer was target.com DOT.(559173)

I was driving down the interstate between Brompton Alabama and Cook springs Alabama and I had to pull over for a second when I went to get back on the interstate there were no cars in the far too right lanes but semi truck on the inside right lane he was about a quarter mile back maybe half a mile back when I went to get on I have my flashers on but not my headlights and I got on and immediately I'll turn my headlights on he could see my flashers there was no cars in the left two lanes and nothing behind him within a few hundred feet he proceeded the bright light me the whole time and he never got close enough to hit me only enough to obstruct my driving with his headlights I tried to slow down and let him go by me he proceeded not to pass me but stay behind me and bright like me this went on for about three or four miles finally I got behind him and when he seen that I was taking a picture of his trailer number which is target.com 5591-73 and his truck US Xpress. 303024 he decided to call the law because I have a scanner and said that I got on the interstate and cut over in front of him with no headlights on which is a lie I hope they have a recorder in the truck because I have one of my car that recorded everything I figured instead of calling the law would be better to call and report the truck driver to the corporate office but I will be contacting my lawyer about him making false accusations to the sheriff's department about me and brought lightning pedestrians thank you sincerely hope you improve your truck drivers

Desired outcome: Maybe he needs to stay off for about a month with no pay

9:00 AM on 1-9-2022 my husband and I were nearly hit by a truck (didn't get its info like cab model, etc., only trailer info), going towards Triadelphia, WV on I-70. The speed limit is 45 in the construction zone this occurred in, the truck was easily going 75-80 and nearly hit us from behind before quickly changing lanes and barreling past us only to have...

U.S. Xpress Driver of truck V20218 variant, operated by U.S. xpress trailer 751860

Driver parked his truck blocking the fuel islands to our truck stop.
Knocked on the door to ask him to leave. He purposely got out walked around his truck, got into his sleeper then sat in his seat for another 30 min.
His truck was cranked when we knocked on the door. The police were notified but he left before they arrived. The driver was just being defiant.
We have free parking and a lot full of spaces to park in here, why would he want to park at the entrance to our fuel pumps. Driver was an [censored]. I have photos. Trucks could still get to our pumps but not without taking a huge outside swing to get into pump lanes and get lined up to fuel.?

Desired outcome: Driver reprimand by company.

U.S. Xpress Dangerous aggressive driving

Driver of 18 wheeler #004478 on Friday, Aug 13 was weaving in and out of traffic on two lane highway. My mom and I felt they were trying to drive their truck like a car, and it isn't. They were pulling into the left lane very close to cars and other trucks, and plugging up the lane constantly, causing traffic to back up for miles. Look at the photos, they say it all

U.S. Xpress Reckless Driver 003165

Driving on 65n in Alabama (about 10 miles south of Montgomery) on April 10, 2021 at 4:10pm. Driver is swerving, recovering, and swerving again. Going over the right white line and center line by at least 3 feet with heavy traffic and 60mph speed. This person is obviously more than distracted and seems impared in some way. No answer @ call center. This is something that could be an emergency and there should be a way to contact your company. Number on the back was 003165.

Desired outcome: Call driver in for rest before returning to road. Follow up with monitoring competency.

U.S. Xpress wrongful termination

In 2012 i contracted with us xpress hauling on the henderson nc walmart account. In September 2013 walmart alleged that i was putting fuel in my truck at this facility and not paying for it. Us xpress terminated my contract without investigating or being able to prove the allegations.Walmart done as they always do had me arrested on false charges..I later found out the police report was falsified and us xpress had paid off walmart for the amount of fuel allegedly stolen..As for me i lost my truck and home and due to the pending case no company would hire me.In march 2016 the charges were dismissed because they never had a case and now lawyers want me to pay thousands to sue.I will file this story on any complaint board i can to expose this injustice.

U.S. Xpress Wrongful termination

In 2012 i contracted with us xpress hauling on the henderson nc walmart account.September 2013 my contract was terminated with prejudice due to allegations of fuel theft by walmart.
I was not given a chance to uncover the set up that occured only left to face criminal charges and later to find out us xpress paid off walmart for the alleged amount of fuel stolen.
Needless to say the charges were dismissed this year because of no proof but i lost my truck and home and all lawyers say is for 5 grand we will sue..So basically im left with nothing and could not get a job for over two years due to the pending case the da would not take to trial for apparent reasons i am reporting this scam anyway i can it was a great injustice for this former contractor.

U.S. Xpress Dac Report

08-31-2015
RE-BUTTAL

This is my rebuttal on the US Xpress accusation of a Lane Change Side Swipe.
This never happened.
This is a fabrication of a Driver and Safety Employee that assumed that this was what had taken place.

What really happened is that I picked up a empty trailer with cosmetic scratches on the left side of dry van, I did not call safety to request repair because none was needed.
Being an x Certified Insurance appraiser I new there was no need.
Also being a new driver I thought no further investigation wood be needed.

Lets relive the events of 10-29-2012 as best as I can remember.
I recall I had been driving most of the night to deliver on time the next morning.
I made my appointment on time droped trailor and picked up another one I can not recall the number but, my ritual is the same.
1. Check the brake pad thickness minimum 1/4 thickness.
2. Check for holes, cracks that might lead to water damage.
3. Physical damage that might lead to unservisability.
4. Lights must be100% operational or move on to another trailor if available.

What I observed is cosmetic damage down the left side of trailer it appeared to be scratches from a chain link fence being an X Auto Certified Insurance Appraiser in the past, I could see damage was cosmetic no real attention needed to be taken.
Next I inspect lighting functionality and everything was good.
I connected to trailer and moved to a terminal close by. (I had about 45Min on clock left)
825 w. Leffel Lane Springfield OH.
I arrived about 11:15am stopped at guard shack at entrance and was given directions to disconnect trailer along the right fence line.
I was in a mild rush because I had about 10 minutes left on my 14hr clock.
I proceeded forward and was about 75% in the terminal when a red truck jumped out abruptly and blocked my entrance.

I gave him a minute and he just sat there so I honked my horn a little he looked at me and moved to the center of the parking area diagnol and stopped again blocking me again, I waited another minute, I figured he was new to driving so I cut hard right and took the fence line north and turned left along the front of the tractors parked along the fence line west as I passed the front of the truck in the middle I gave him the greeting of the day a wave and a nod.
And I proceeded straight I checked right to make sure I was not to close to the New parked trucks along that line.

Next I checked left and I observed the tractor edging forward wheels were turning getting close to rear of trailer.
I was at the end of the fence line and I cut left to the parking line south to disconnect.

The truck was out of my sight at this time I was moving about 09 mpr and slowing I observed a slot and I focused on lining up my landing gear to setup my trailer for docking position lineup for backing in.

When I stopped I heard some driver spouting vulgar cuss words yelling at the top of his lungs just totally out of control.
I got out of the truck and confronted him and asked why did you delibretly drive forward as I was passing you?
He said your supposed to stop not scratch my truck.
I told him he was out of my line of sight he should not be playing tricks on people.
And again he started cussing and was doubeling up his fists to hit me, I told him you touch me and you are fired for sure, go call safety and we can reason this out.
He walked away stomping his feet and said I will get safety alright.

Well before I could compleatly disconnect from the trailor, pictures were taken by the safety person a Black Man who took pictures of the trailor side only and accused me of side swiping the trailor.( I kept checking with safety to speak with them but was told the paper work was not completed yet. I was confused safety would not talk with me.)

He told me to weight in the driver lounge and did not see me for 3 hrs and when he did see me he told me to sign a statment before I would be allowed to drive.
So I signed the statment then I was allowed to read the statment it read I had made a lane change and had damaged the side of the trailer.

I amediatly told him I did not do those scratches down the side of trailor.
He looked down and said the first person to contact safety has the upper hand.

Then I told him where is the honesty integrity of your position to treat all drivers with respect and be unbiased toward others.
Because guilt had not been established yet in my eyes.

But this Safety employee decided to make his own lies and call them the truth.
By the Safety Employee making me sign the form shows he was bias, and by him telling me that the first person to contact him would have the upper hand.
Told me he takes sides in all his decisions.

He could not be a Safety Officer he is bias and does his job practicing less than honerable tactics.
Also by the other driver answering my question: Why did you keep moving forward after I passed?
Answer: You are supposed to stop.
By answering that way is telling me the other driver was in road rage mode fight or flight mode and would do anything to create an incident but he did not know he was out of my line of sight by then. Or I would have surly stopped.

I was coherst in to signing a lie fabracuated by the driver and implemented by the safety person on duty.

He also made me sit and view 2 video tapes on safety which I did.
Or I would not be abel to drive any further I would be fired.
When I returen to view the videos I observed my statment in the trash can next to the Safety person's desk.

Why was the other driver not refered to anger management?
Surly everyone could see he was a powder keg ready to explode.

I asked him why did he trash my statment he said I only need one statment.
This was another bias statment by the safety employee.

I have always believed that while inspection of the other US Xpress tractor was a few scratches to the right front corner and a bent bezal.

How can this safety employee justify the whole side of this dry van scratches on the left side extending 70% up the side.
The two do not match.

Being a new driver in the industry totaly unaware of the implacations this safety employee had imposed on me.

I should be exonorated of this incident because it was fabracuated by the safety employee and driver of the other vehicle.

I have been truley violated by this person in a leadership position as a Safety Officer I have been raped of my right to dispute the unfounded accusation that is untrue.
I have reciently returned to work with US Xpress and did not find this kind of descrimination present at this time.

What ever happend to ERA equal rights amendment to all.

I support affirmative action and I fall under this discrimination.

U.S. Xpress Lease-Purchase Program

I signed a Lease-Purchase agreement with US Xpress at the end of April of 2013. I am a driver who has had 13 years of driving experience both as a company driver and an Owner Operator. I have a squeaky clean driving record, CSA Scorecard and DAC report. I drive the speed limit, perform pre and post inspections on EVERY load. And I am a driver that knows that hard work and putting in the time will make you money. I also know that sure that $135, 000.00 gross looks good on paper, but the truth is, once you deduct the $80, 000.00 fuel bill and all your other fixed and adjustable expenses, in the end you get lucky if your taxable income is 35 to 40K. I know that making it in this business takes a lot out of you and your family since I have been out for months at a time. I am lucky to have a more that capable wife who takes care of the home, finances and my son. I am also lucky that they are very understanding of this and they keep those stresses off my back since driving is stressful enough.

When I signed on with US Xpress, they did not have a truck for 3 other guys and me at the Tunnel Hill, GA shop so we were given a rented van and told to drive to the Shippensburg, PA shop to pick up our trucks. You are not given a choice of what truck you want, you are simply given a truck and forced to accept that truck no matter what condition that truck may be in. At the Shippensburg shop I was told by the mechanics there that the trucks had been checked over, detailed and were ready to go. Being the former mechanic and skeptical person that I am, I decided to give “my” truck a complete and thorough check out. After starting it up and running it for 45 min. in place I discovered 5 oil leaks. When I pointed this out to the mechanic, he told me that the pool of oil under my truck was from a previous truck. Well it turned out that it was from my truck because I could see the leaks, plain as day. So my employment started out with my truck being taken to a Freightliner Dealer for repairs. I did not get my first dispatch from them until May 7th. I didn’t get out of the debit column, meaning expenses were more than mileage and fuel per diem pay until May 24th. The first month that I worked there I spent 18 days in break-down for miscellaneous reasons; i.e. oil leaks, air leaks, COMSAT that worked ½ of the time. My favorite little COMSAT problem that I experienced was its habit of erasing all of my logs at midnight daily.

I had a beef with my first fleet manager that I was assigned to. I like to call him affectionately “the I don’t know guy” Being a new driver, of course, you have many questions and the only answer that I ever got from him was “I don’t know”; not my desired answer of “I don’t know, but I will find out and get back to you”. His lack of training and knowledge put me into some predicaments that I would have rather avoided. However once I got rid of Rob Hill my second fleet manager was fabulous. I also had a beef with the weekend crew whose habit of calling you while you are logged into sleeper berth time and for taking the good paying loads off of you for nonsense reasons. When I discussed this problem with my second fleet manager, he acknowledged that yes indeed that they did do that and that it annoyed him as well.

I don’t mind taking heavy loads as long as it is balanced with light loads. I am not one of those drivers that will out right refuse a heavy load. However, that seemed to be the only loads that the planners would give me. One load was so heavy that I had to take from Maryland to Texas; I could not put more than $100.00 of fuel in my tank at a time or else I would have been over the maximum allowable weight for my truck per DOT regulations. This cycle of continuous heavy loads went on throughout the month of June. So slowly, but surely my debit column was chipping away at my credit column.

I also would like to point out that the trailers at US Xpress are less than desirable and in my humble opinion skirting very closely to sub-standard. A lot of the problems that I experienced could have been prevented if drivers performed post trip inspections properly and reported that trailers had lights that were not working and other easily corrected defects. It got to the point where I would carry replacement bulbs, wiring harnesses and other trailer repair items so that I could quickly fix these items and get rolling. The other defects that had to be repaired caused me a lot of down time. I simply am not willing to risk my clean record for sub-standard equipment and a company culture of “pass the buck” to the next driver that is dispatched to that trailer. Also you can always tell how good of a reputation that a company has based upon their equipment by how many DOT inspections that you are stopped for or waived on through. I was always stopped for DOT inspections while driving for US Xpress.

Finally after being out for a full 2 months, except for the 34 hour reset that I used to get home and get the rest of my working equipment, I went home. And frankly, I took a week off. I deserved it, my family missed me and I had out of town guests coming that I had not seen in 5 years. After that, it went steadily downhill. During the month of July I made $9060.00 in mileage and fuel per diem pay and had $12, 059.00 in truck expenses. Now keep in mind that I also have a mortgage and home expenses like phone and electric bills, and food and gasoline expenses for my wife and son. My son started school without the proper school supplies that he needed. Additionally my wife had to apply for SNAP benefits to put food on the table. My wife called Josh Sunheim and had a nice little chat with him, questioning the cycle of heavy loads and lack of direct deposits into our bank account. Even after my wife pointed out to him that we were experienced at “playing the game” he still talked to her like she was a greenhorn and had no idea what the trucking business was all about, which is so far from the truth. However he assured her that he would personally keep an eye on my miles.

After that disastrous month of July, my “boss” said “Honey, you have got to walk away from this contract and find another lease-purchase agreement with a better company”. I had talked to another driver who was also experiencing that same type of deal and I asked him why he stayed. He told me that his wife had a good job and he had already made a considerable investment in the truck. Thankfully I was not in that boat. My wife put my resume back out on the web and found me an outstanding company who appreciates conscientious drivers and treats them like what they are; their most valuable asset. I am happy to say that yes I am still behind on some bills but my house isn’t in foreclosure, my wife, son and I can eat without assistance from the government and my kid has all the supplies that he needs to do his job of getting a proper education.

In conclusion, if you don’t mind driving sub-standard equipment, working with poorly trained fleet managers and annoying weekend crews, having your debit columns bigger than your credit column and being disrespected, in spite of having played the game for many years with an outstanding career record; go ahead and sign a lease with US Xpress. I promise you won’t be disappointed.

U.S. Xpress Dissatisfactoin

I have been employed since July with US Express. After my initial training, I was placed in a team driving situtation but really wanted to drive solo which I was allowed to do. I am a single women and took the job so that I could save my home. I have no other income. Due to my situation I have only gone home twice maybe three times since I went solo. My last trip home was at Christmas. That is my choice though. I need the income. Snce that time I have been allowed to set for days with no load mainly during the weekend. I have complained several times and for a few weeks it would be better. Then it goes back to the normal. I can't stay out here, not make any money to pay my bills and go with little or no resources for food. I have explained this situation. The final downfall was on Saturday 02/23/13, I have been down 5 days for a tune up on the truck, was given a load to California on Thursday which satisfied me. I would have some miles. That was taken on Saturday because I was the best option to make a time for a 345 mile load that should have been picked up 5 hours earlier. I complained, nothing was fixed. I spoke to supervisors, nothing was fixed. I have no hours and a 345 mile load that can't be delivered til Monday. I was told to take it to Lexington. At this point I want to unseat the truck and go home. No money, no miles. I have to take the truck to Ellenwood to unseat. They send me three different loads to somewhere else. I tell them I requested Ellenwood to unseat. Now I'm told I have to wait til they get a load to there, could be days. I could have taken at least one load there and it could be restarted because it would be closer but it isn't allowed and if I do I'm charged. I can't leave the truck here at their yard, I'm charged. I can't drive it home, I'm charged. I have done everything they have ever asked, never had an infraction, helped them in numerous circumstances. Now when I want to go home and look for a job that I can survive I'll be charged, yet I can't get miles to survive here. I have a way to get home today if they will let me take the truck but no one cares. No one matters, I just get charged. Now they contact me to make me take a load or wait. All I won't is to give them the truck so I won't be charged and go home since I can't work here and get enough miles to survive. I only have one way home with my family and now they even wan't to mess that up. I work so hard yet you took my load for no reason and give me loads where I can't make it. I have saved everything on this. every call every email. I have tried to do what is right so why can't your company do what is right and let me go to Ellenwood now not days or even hours from now

U.S. Xpress Never use them

I had ship luggage from NY to India and called Air India cargo #, they referred me to Mr. Gurvinder Singh (Indo US Express) as authorized person to handle personal cargo. I contacted him and he collected all my luggage on Dec 2009 from my home address, and also charged me money [check & credit card] and mentioned it will be delivered in about a week. Since then, I am constantly following up with him and he is just making excuses. It’s been about 3 months and I am still waiting.

I was accepted into the orientation program at US Xpress. I quit my job, that is how confident that I would be hired by US Xpress. They paid for my bus fare from NJ to Ohio, a very miserable Greyhound bus ride. I arrived at the Medway, OH terminal on Tuesday, to start Orientation on Wednesday. Wednesday comprised of passing their physical, which included...

I hear each and every single one of you out there with issues with US Xpress. I uprooted my family to move to Jeffersonville, OH just to be closer to US Xpress when I went to work for them. No sooner did I get on than all the issues started. No pay, or not enough pay. Started in October 3rd was told by the GA location's safety director to my *cuss**cuss*...

U.S. Xpress terrible service!

After a little over a years faithful service to company which included being a Driver Trainer and Road test Examiner. I was involved in a single vehicle (my Truck) accident. The company placed me on unpaid suspension waiting the results of the safety committee investigation. After 6 weeks of not making any money and not being able to apply for any type of new work (because was still classified as employed by said company) the fired me for unsafe safety rating.

This mind you my only accident the whole time I was with company and up to this point not a single moving violation or ticket. While Driving down I-95 in New Haven Ct it was about 11:30 pm on Oct 8th 2007. It was raining, visibility was good, roads where wet but passable. I had just gone through the interchange of I-91 and I-95 headed south to Delaware on my dedicated account. A car traveling south bound pulled in front of me from the far left lane.

I was in the middle lane of 3. after about 100 yards the car put on his brakes for no apparent reason. I applied my brakes and my ABS on the tractor failed causing the tractor brakes to lock up. The trailer (53' dry van) was empty and started to come around me.I ended up jack knifing and going through the guard rails taking out a light pole and into a set of trees along the side of the highway.

The truck was totaled. When the police arrived a witness told the state trooper what had happened, then I gave my statement as well. The Trooper then gave me a ticket for failure to maintain my lane. Said it was just a basic ticket and that all i had to do was pay it and it wouldn't even show up on my license.

I then had some friends come and get me and bring me to a hotel in Springfield Ma. Waited for a drug test guy to get there to test me for drugs and alcohol. (Which never was or ever would be in my system at any time). The next few days I repeatedly tried to get in touch with safety to let them know to check the truck and they would see that the ABS failed on the tractor. The Tractor was also scheduled to go to Volvo that coming weekend for some major repairs. The company just kept delaying me and telling me they were waiting for report from safety board. Well because I went 6 weeks without pay I was not able to pay the ticket.

Which has resulted in me losing my right to drive a commercial vehicle. And the report that USXPRESS made on my termination states unsafe safety rating.

Which in turn has made it impossible for me to get a job with any other trucking company.

Truck # V20515. At 0900 at August 8, 2023 driving west on SR 200 the truck was traveling in excess of 10-15 miles over the posted speed limit and weaving in and out of traffic. The truck was tailgating other vehicles at an unsafe distance and almost hit our vehicle at a traffic light with my 8 month pregnant wife in the car.

Traveling 81 N at 1:21pm a Variant driver who is making delivery for US EXPRESS trailer cut in front of us last minute. Something like that made us hit the brake hard. It was on a passing lane of 55mph we were driving 57mph. Shaking my head.

My husband is a recent graduate of a truck driving school, passed his test and ready to be an otr driver. USxpress had a recuriter go to the class wanting drivers, the man lied about so much. He was promised 7 days out 2 days home, LIE - a set wage PLUS school reimbursement LIE (you get less per mile if you choose school reimbursement), you can stay at the hotel instead of the bunk house for three days and get a discount from the school LIE (two day max but they tell you to get there night before) Insurance is HIGH - you go to orienation for three days but this is not a guarentee of hirer. My husband has passed all test, everything is fine except now they want his w2 from last year. if told this before going to orientation for three days, two hours away, he would have brought it with him. but now they need it right now and he is being sent home with no job because he did not have it. these people are stupid.
