I had gotten in a car accident and needed a car in the meantime to drive while I was reaching a settlement with the party that hit me. On March 15th, I went in and rented a car from Enterprise. I signed a contract for 30-days. However, I let them know that a third-party insurance would be taking over the contract because they were at fault for my accident and thus would be responsible for setting up direct billing with Enterprise. Despite that, Enterprise insisted on taking my credit card information down anyways to put on file, even though they said they wouldn’t be charging it. That same day, the third-party insurance got into contact with Enterprise and set-up direct billing.
On April 12th, I was billed for the amount of $950 which greatly confused me so I called Enterprise to ask them why there were billing me when the third-party insurance was paying for it. They assured me that it would be taken off my statement within 3-4 business days. The amount was never taken off my billing statement and I called to ask again about it. A representative again told me that it would be taken care of. I told them that I was not liable for the payments since I no longer had a contract with them. The contract was with the third-party insurance.
Imagine my surprise when I returned the vehicle on May 4th and Enterprise told me that I would have to pay the $950 from April 12th plus an additional $805.42. I did not authorize $1, 755.42 to be billed to my account. Enterprise called them supplementary insurance fees that the third-party insurance would not pay for. Enterprise had a contract with the third-party insurance as soon as they set up direct billing with them. If they knew the third party-insurance was not going to pay for it, they should have removed the “supplementary insurance” from the contract with them.
My credit card was on file but I DID NOT authorize them to charge me for ANYTHING at any time, especially since I no longer had a contract with them when the third-party insurance set up direct-billing to Enterprise. Enterprise had it all laid out in their computer system with the third-party insurance. They knew what the third-party insurance was covering. If Enterprise failed to collect then they should be pursuing the third party insurance, not me. Involving me in the financial aspect of this matter is not what I expected. They misinterpreted themselves and knowingly charged me for fees that I was not responsible for. They should have taken it up with the third-party insurance, not me. As a result, these fees are fraudulent. I did not authorize them to charge me or ever charge me for the rental.
They will lie through their teeth to get you to sign things for that you don't need. Don't fall for it. I was NEVER told that my existing insurance would carry on over but was instead led to believe that I MUST purchase their Supplementary Insurance. I want to warn people about their pushy sales tactics and horrendous customer service. Never again will I deal with these thieves nor would I ever recommend them to anyone lest they fall into the same trap I did.

Enterprise scams people with insurance charges. We are in Charleston, S.C. and my sons insurance company scheduled a car rental after he was in an accident. They asked us if we wanted insurance and my son politely told the lady at the counter "no thank you". Four days after he had turned the car in my sons credit card was charged $501 for insurance he had declined. The manager won't get on the phone with us and they claim to have no numbers to any district manager or customer service. We asked for the girls last name in order to file a complaint and she refused to give it to us. We are now filing every complaint possible against this Charleston enterprise. These people scam you because they get paid for selling insurance. DO NOT US ENTERPRISE.
