Rented a car from Allegiant (#[protected]), Rental Agreement #[protected] on 2/1/25 from Lexington Airport at 7:33 p.m. to drive the 11 miles to Residence Inn, 3110 Wall St., Lexington, KY. When I got in the car the next morning to go to the funeral, it would not start. I called the customer service number and got routed through several keypad selections to an individual. That person said they would call someone to come out. When the individual from AAA arrived, he checked the battery and ran a diagnostic. He said that even if he jumped this car it would not go anywhere because it had computer chip and electrical problems. He said the car never should have been rented out. He said Enterprise used my AAA membership to get him out there. Enterprise wanted them to tow the vehicle back to the airport and they refused. He told me to put the keys under the mat, leave the door unlocked and call them to come pick up their car. They could have just sent another vehicle for me to use so I could make the funeral ... they did not. The documents given to me at the airport indicated I declined all insurance coverage. I did not. I am a 72 year old woman in a city I do not know...at night. Of course I asked for the insurance. I had the car for one day but was charged for 2. The estimated bill was $147.76 but I was charged $212.54. I was charged for 100 miles and a full tank of gas. The manager at the Lexington Airport counter said I had the car for 2 days and refused to waive the fees. He asked me if I was likely to use this location again. I said no. He hung up on me.
Claimed loss: $212.54 for rental plus unauthorized use of my AAA benefit. Stress and anxiety from not arriving at my sister's funeral on time.
Desired outcome: A refund.
