PurCo Fleet Services $150 administration fee

I sideswiped another car while I was driving a rental car. Budget.

My insurance, Liberty Mutual, covered the damage to both cars.

Out of the blue I get an email from PurCo for $200. PurCo said $50 for my Liberty Mutual deductible and PurCo’s $150 Administration fee.

I asked PurCo to provide my signature agreeing to pay their $150 administration fee. PurCo referred me to Budget rental agreement.

On the agreement I saw an acronym “admin” in lower case letters. Had it said “administration” I would agree with PurCo.

“admin” is moot in a legal agreement. The woman I was dealing with agreed to subtract $20 from the $150, then changed her mind and increased to approximate total of $208.

I paid them $180. Was I scammed?

Thanks

Desired outcome: $130 refund

PurCo Fleet Services Fraudulent Claim

Our rental car broke down from what appeared to be an alternator failure. This isn't Avis's fault, but the way they handled the situation was terrible.

-We sat on the side of the road for over 4 hours waiting on a replacement vehicle or tow truck.

-Eventually we had to be towed with the rental car to the nearest airport. This added another couple hours to this ordeal.

The car didn't have any damage when the tow truck took possession of the vehicle. The car was dropped off in an Avis maintenance lot at the Little Rock airport without any damage. Their own lot and vehicle coverage would cover any damage that happened after the vehicle was no longer in our possession.

Weeks later we receive calls from PurCo asking us to pay approximately $1400 for a damaged windshield.

We provided a photograph of the undamaged car being loaded onto the tow truck. Purco's response, "If there is a crack running the length of the bottom (for instance) it would not be seen in this photo."

Interesting they cannot tell me where the windshield was broken, but simultaneously can dismiss my photo of an unbroken windshield.

Yeah they are experts. Lol. My “hail” damaged happened between 8:30 and 9:30 am which mysteriously was the only time we were out of our car for the day. They know this because they have a NOAA report showing storms were in the area. I showed them the local news weather forecast video for that time talking about what a beautiful day it was, 2 reports from weather resources verifying no hail. Guess what, their reports trump anything I can show them including our own trip photos. Lol. Quite the company.

PurCo Fleet Services scam

I rented a car in Anchorage, AK in October 2021 and damaged it in a single car accident. I reported the accident and brought the car back. Five months later I got a letter from Purco claiming 2000 in "loss of use." When I asked them for documentation their agent refused to give it. I'll never rent from Budget again, or anyone who does business with these parasites.

Desired outcome: No further contact.

Yeah their evidence is a joke. We got some blurry photos with all the damage amazingly located exactly where the overhead light is shining on the car. All you see is the light and a circle in every picture. Too funny. $2100 please. Oh and half of the damage was reported on on of the four previous rentals but somehow I am being billed for it. Terrible company. Weeks and weeks between communication to the point we thought it was over only to get a surprise packet with no acknowledgement the we had sent them a ton of stuff with a note $2100 please. Horrible company, don’t believe them for a minute. Class action suit.

PurCo Fleet Services After rental claim

I will add to the litany of complaints against Purco. They were engaged by a local franchisee of Hertz in Bozeman after the car we rented was damaged. They have attempted to overcharge us for damage our auto insurer did not think was justified after a reasonable claim was paid. Purco also is demanding a large service fee. It is time that Hertz and the other rental car companies dissociate themselves from franchisees that they do not control and companies like Purco that are dishonorable is their business activities.

PurCo Fleet Services charging for 'second estimate'

My complaint is about Purco. I rented a car in Arizona in April of this year. [It was from Hertz, but that's not important.] It struck a rock on a freeway, which greatly damaged the oil pan and a bushing. Of course I had not gotten rental insurance, assuming my credit card would provide rental insurance. Two months later Purco billed me for over $3, 200 for repairing the oil pan and bushing. They emailed photos and invoices, etc. this fee included the charge for loss of use and everyone’s favorite: “administrative fees”.

Not wanting a ‘hit’ on my car insurance record, I paid the full amount. (I learned credit card provides insurance only after your regular auto insurer pays a share.) Case closed.

Here’s the kicker: in early July Purco emailed a ‘second damage estimate’ demanding over $1, 400 to pay for more damage that was discovered. Again they emailed blurry photos that showed nothing. My local garage service people say a ‘second damage estimate’ is unheard of. I think that because I paid a huge amount, Purco sees me as a pigeon and is trying to get more easy money out of me. They haven’t even invested in a stamp!

I don’t have the money. I think this whole setup is theft. If I don’t pay, what’s the worst they can do? Lower my credit score?

Here’s another thing I fear: will they also come after me in the future for “diminished value”?

Purco rectified this issue over the phone with me. I feel quite good about things now! Actually, their people are quite easy to deal with when you can make verbal contact with them. Rental car companies need their vehicles in good shape -- they provide a service, and they spell out their expectations fair and square. I commend Purco Fleet Services. It is a pleasure doing business with them.

PurCo Fleet Services customer service experience

Buyer beware total rip off: be careful when using this company at this location.in fact do not use them. I rented a truck at the end of july 2016 and returned it 10.30 pm in perfect condition from dollar in slc, went and caught my flight and thought nothing of it. Several month later I got a letter in the mail from purco from spanish forks ut which is a collection agency claiming I owe over $3000 for damage to the rental.

At this time of night no attendants were at the location to receive the vehicle. I left it in perfect condition and in the mail I received pictures of damage to the truck that obviously happened long after I had gone in the very tight parking lot probably. I got zero communication from dollar - just a harassing letter and phone calls from the collections agency purco. Both american express and my insurance company indicated off the record that they had heard of purco and were aware of this scam.

Dollar, you didn't have the decency to even reach out to me and went straight to a debt collector for damage I never caused - shame on you - buyers beware they will rip you off soon. I never caused the damage and now purco are after me regardless. There is no evidence I caused it whatsoever but it does not seem to matter to them — never rent from dollar, customer service is terrible in a situation like this - look at [redacted] and complaints dot com for all the bad things said about purco spanish fork in ut - as a consumer you have no rights and have no say - you have been warned!

PurCo Fleet Services rental car

I had my Honda’s airbag replaced due to the massive recall in February 2015. Since it was going to take two days to repair I was offered a rental car. I was driven to a local Hertz office and was asked to sign one piece of paper and then was handed a set of keys to a Nissan Altima. On my way to work that night I was behind an older truck that stopped suddenly in front of me on the main road near my house. I stopped behind him waiting for him to turn or go on but strangely he proceeded to put the truck in reverse and stepped on the gas smashing the front of this rental car. He then proceeded to speed off with the tires squealing. I called 911 and an officer came and wrote up the incident. I then rode in the tow truck to the Hertz location at the airport. I filled out a single piece of paper and was given another car. I was too shaken up to go to work but did turn in the car the next day at the dealership when the repairs were completed on my car. I did not turn in any claim to my insurance company because Honda had rented this car for me and I thought it would be taken care of. After all, it was their faulty airbag and I was being inconvenienced with having to leave my vehicle with them while they made the repairs. Six months later I received an invoice from Purco Fleet Services wanting me to pay for the damages plus fees, $9, 830.31. I turned the information into my All State insurance. They began processing the claim. All State paid $4, 120.23 to Purco and attempted to negotiate the remaining $4, 922.59 that was not covered which included “Administrative Fees and Loss of Use Fees.” I contacted Debbie Draper who was handling my account and offered a settlement of $2, 500 but she said that would not be enough but she would settle for $3, 800. I told her I would have to see if I could come up with that much money as I am paying my way through nursing school at the moment while working. I sent a payment of $30 several months back to which she replied that would not be a sufficient amount. I sent a payment of $1, 000 in September 2016 which she responded by telling me I would need to sign a promissory note in order to make payments. Out of shear frustration and not wanting my good credit to be affected, I was going to put the remaining balance, $2, 800, on my credit card until I saw where there were several complaints against Purco for fraudulent insurance practices. I certainly do not want to contribute to this company if they are indeed dishonest in their practices. Their “fees” seem very high and I saw where they used factory parts to make the repairs rather than aftermarket parts to keep costs down. If you can look into this company and see if they are legitimate and fair I would feel much better about making payments. Thank you so very much.

PurCo Fleet Services complaint

On March 24, 2016 I rented a 2015 Toyota Corolla from the Hertz rental agency at Hillcrest Avenue in Springfield, Ohio. I drove from Springfield to Reynoldsburg, Ohio to pick up my 15 year old granddaughter to ride with me to Decatur, Georgia. When we left Reynoldsburg at approximately 11:00 pm. March 25, it began to rain very hard, so I pulled into a rest area just south of Columbus, Ohio until the rain subsided. We got back on the road at about 1:00 a.m. The trip was uneventful with the exception of a dragging sound coming from underneath the automobile. It seemed to stop whenever I slowed to 50 mph. Because I was traveling for several hundred miles, I stopped at every rest stop to walk around a bit to assure relief from tiredness and to assure good circulation. The dragging sound continued, consequently, I drove slower than 65 mph.
There was no road construction, no potholes, only clear, smooth highway for the entire trip. We arrived in Decatur about 9:00 a.m. Saturday, March 26 and I asked my son to look underneath the car to determine what the dragging sound might be. He saw that the small covering at the front of the vehicle (splash shield) was hanging down, so he purchased a bungee cord and hooked the splash shield to the automobile grill. I returned the car to the Atlanta airport Hertz, and asked if I could secure another vehicle at no additional charge. The agent walked around the vehicle, saw the problem, and said I could have another vehicle at no extra charge. He noted no other damage. I returned the replacement rental that was issued to me at the Atlanta Airport Hertz to the Springfield, Ohio Hertz rental agency. To my surprise a few weeks later, I receive a letter from a PurCo claims agent requesting a payment of $1, 773.60 for the replacement of the damaged undercarriage. I explained to him that I had no accident, drove over no barriers, drove over no road construction, and that there was no such damage to the undercarriage while it was in my possession, and that the splash shield that was dragging was apparently due to a failure of maintenance to check the security of the nuts, bolts or clamps required to attach it. When I turned in the car at the Atlanta Hertz, there was no damage to the integrity of the car. When I responded to the PurCo agent that there was no such damage to the car that was claimed, the PurCo agent responded that it didn't matter whether or not I caused the damage, the rental contract required that I pay for any damage that was reported (by whomever) to PurCo and charged to the person whose was the last named on the rental contract. PurCo has sent me no evidence of a damaged undercarriage. What PurCo did send was pictures of of silver tape around the front bumper which had nothing to do with the car I returned to the Atlanta Airport Hertz.
I would like for PurCo Fleet Services to determine who actually damaged the undercarriage of the Toyota Corolla and have them pay for the replacement. And I want to be relieved of the responsibility for paying for replacing the undercarriage which I did not famage.

PurCo Fleet Services scam

I rented a car from Alamo from July 9-12, in Billings, MT. A week later I received a call from Amy Davis stating the windshield was cracked when the car was returned.

Both my passenger and I can attest to the fact that there was no damage to the car. We filled the car up and washed the windshield one mile from the airport we returned the car to.

I wrote and asked for picture varification, and a bill from the company that did the repairs. Also the reason I was charged two days down time while the repair was done.

The only "proof" I was sent was a black/white drawing of a car with one of six boxes at the bottom marked.

After check the internet under Alamo complaints, this scam seems to be wide-spread world wide.

PurCo Fleet Services has a c- rating from the Utah BBB for similar complaints.
