I am writing to you with a matter of urgent concern involving your store at 2101 Palos Verdes Dr. N in Lomita, CA 90717, and its alleged association with a local towing company, Budget Towing. On January 3rd a troubling incident occurred wherein eight vehicles, including my own, were towed under questionable circumstances.
It is unethical to have a solitary and inconspicuous "Parking only while dining" sign for the 27 spaces at your establishment, an issue I've already raised on Yelp and Twitter. These distressing events have led me to consider escalating this matter to the news media and possibly organizing a protest at the restaurant, though I am hesitant to take such actions.
My attempts to resolve this through your district manager have been ineffective, as my concerns seem to be ignored and not escalated to the corporate level claims department, which indicates a lack of attention or transparency from your management.
The incident in question involved a cashier at Jack in the Box reportedly calling and directing the towing company to remove specific vehicles, including mine, which was legally parked in a handicap space. When confronted with the valid placard, the tow truck driver hesitantly released my car, not before causing visible damage estimated to be $3664.71. Adding to the distress, another tow truck driver arrived and subjected my wife to a barrage of racial slurs, exacerbating the already volatile situation.
When I arrived there were four patrol cars present, I had a chance to speak with Dino, the manager of the tow company. Dino recognized the severity of the driver's conduct and considered termination. However, the involvement of the cashier, who sparked this incident, seems to be overlooked.
JACK IN THE BOX SHOULD NOT BE TOWING CAR OF POTENTIAL CUSTOMERS WITHOUT PROPER NOTIFICATION!
This incident poses serious questions about a potential collusion between Jack in the Box and the towing company, preying on customers through barely noticeable parking policies. The refusal of Budget Towing to provide insurance information for the damages caused only adds to the financial and emotional burden of this ordeal.
Given the gravity of these events and the lack of satisfactory responses from your management, I am now contemplating further action, including reaching out to media outlets and exploring legal options. It is vital to bring attention to this unethical practice and demand accountability.
