Beware, they are horrible! Stick with me, this gets good. On 02/08/2022, I took my car to Valencia BMW, and they referred me to Enterprise to rent a car since they were keeping my car for a few days. My car was ready on 02/14/2022, during which time I returned the rental to the BMW dealership. I was told that Enterprise would come to pick up the car and close out the rental.
On 02/20/2022, I noticed a charge of $441.70 on my credit statement and a statement indicating that the car was returned at LAX. I called the LAX Enterprise office to validate, and they informed me that a family had returned the car. Enterprise never transferred the car out of my name and allowed someone else to drive it. Additionally, the statement showed that the car had been driven for well over 1100 miles under my name. I went to their office and after hours of arguing, they finally agreed to refund me my money and adjust the date on the agreement, limiting my liability to only the days I had driven the vehicle.
Two weeks later, I received a toll bill from them showing toll charges for the Golden Gate and Bay bridges. This indicated that they had given the car to someone else who drove it to San Francisco and back. If anything had happened, I would have been held responsible. Unfortunately, Enterprise never reimbursed me for the tolls. Their representative on the phone forced me to pay, stating that they couldn't do anything about the tolls. Fine. I thought the saga was over. I promised myself that I would never rent from them again and gave up my Emerald Club Executive Elite status, switching to AVIS.
On 05/25/2023, I received an email from a collection company stating that I owed Enterprise $441.70, with the same dates as before. Nothing had been resolved by their office. When I called Enterprise, I encountered a rude woman who simply did not care. She told me, "I don't handle billing issues, I rent cars." I called again to get her name as I planned to escalate the matter to their Office of the President. Cameron King answered and promised me an adjustment on my statement by the end of the day. However, nothing happened! This situation is even worse than the "POP Copy" episode of the Chappelle Show!
There are much better rental car companies out there. Hertz and Avis have never let me down. If possible, go with them. No one needs this kind of aggravation.
Desired outcome: I need the collection efforts to stop, the dealership billed and toll charges reversed.
