My mother and I were shopping at the Dollar Tree (Store #6738) in Tampa, Florida on Tuesday, April 12th just before 10 a.m. When we got inside Doris the cashier was complaining to everyone to hear how she is short-staffed because she is the only employee who showed up. When we got up to the register my mother's total purchases came to about $8.00. She did not have anything smaller except for a $20 bill.
Unfortunately, I did not have anything smaller either. I did see a handwritten sign stating they would not accept $20, $50, and $100 bills at the register. We were about to walk away without buying anything since we did not have anything under a $10 bill. Doris the cashier then begrudgingly decides to accept my mother's $20 bill. I can understand not accepting $50 and $100 bills.
In the process, Doris gets belligerent and rude towards my mother with her negative attitude. That's when I informed Doris she doesn't have to be so abusive. Mind you it was Doris who decided to accept my mother's $20 bill. My mother never once asked or complained to her to accept it. We were willing to leave otherwise. It was not fair for Doris to bully my mother like that. When I complained about Doris' unprofessional behavior she had the audacity to tell me "If you don't like it go somewhere else." I told that I do go elsewhere.
The only reason I was in Dollar Tree was because my mother wanted to go there. I also called Doris out with her extreme negative attitude toward another customer when we were in the store exactly one week before (Tuesday, April 5th). Doris was complaining that there is a sign on the front door stating "No Cash Back" on debit and credit card purchases. Obviously the customer did not see it since it is so small and poorly written. It's not even strategically positioned very well where the customers can see it.
I have written another complaint back in March regarding another Dollar Tree location in Tampa, Florida and its rude cashier. If there was another $1.25 dollar store in existence I would go to that one instead. Unfortunately, Dollar Tree has by far the worst management and employees I have ever dealt with. I am doing everything I can to stop doing business with them!
