I cancelled my service with your company today after receiving my invoice for $172 for a 3 month contract. I called Jack's Trash service in Greencastle, Indiana to set up new service and the lady I spoke to asked me if I would need a bin from them after she told me that your company sub-contracts to them for pickup on Republic accounts. I asked her how that would work, and she said that my pick up day and driver would not change and the driver would basically swap out the Republic bin for a Jack's bin. I finished setting up an account with them and then immediately called to cancel my service with Republic. I was then told that I would be charged a $30 fee for picking up my bin. I questioned the lady about this and asked her why I would be charged $30 when the driver would be literally swapping my bins out. She didn't understand what I meant so I explained to her that Republic sub-contracts with Jack's and that the lady who set my account up for Jack's said that the driver would swap out the bins on the first. Your representative then told me that your company does not sub-contract out to anyone. I replied that yes you do because I have seen Jack's picking our trash up while we have had service with you. She again denied that there is a sub-contract that exists, and I firmly told her that I would not be paying the $30 service fee for a bin pick up. Not only because it's ridiculous to charge a customer to come pick up YOUR bins, but the fact that you sub-contract out to the very company who will be swapping out the bin means that there isn't an extra trip to pick up the bin. Furthermore, after having service with your company for over a year now and originally being told it would be $99 for 3 months of service, which only lasted two or three billing cycles, your price has continued to rise. $172 is ridiculously high and overpriced considering Monster Trash in Spencer, Indiana charges $20 a month and Jack's charges $18 a month. My bill for Feb-Apr with your company, would have equaled $57 a month!
I want the service charge taken off my account for bin pickup. I do not think it is right to charge me and I also think that you have charged me enough, $135 every billing cycle for the last year. Your company does the same thing the other two competitors do, yet you are robbing people blind for service! You are charging customers almost triple for services! This is a highly unethical business practice and I refuse to pay your company for anything else.
