This problem I’m about to explain is about a gift card I purchased that is not activated and the receipt numbers do not match the card. The district manager has been in contact with me about this matter. The people that run this store are very rude and don’t look happy to be there, also don’t have have customer courtesy.
No hello welcome to Dollar General, no smile on their face and don’t know how to speak to their customers. I live across the street from this Dollar General store and spend between $200-$300 once a week or once every other week in the store. I have receipts to prove it, if you want to see them I can prove it. There is no reason to be treated the way I was treated when you walk into this Dollar General store. When I was sold this gift card it states that it is activated on the receipt. But the receipt shows a different number than the card. I was told I can’t be helped. That they don’t give refunds with gift cards. I Understand this if my card was used but it’s not even activated and the receipt has a different number on it compared to the card that I had purchased. This is the reason why the district manager went in today 4/27 to watch the video he seen me buy it and given a receipt. This has been going on since 4/1 to look at the video or handle any problems and it’s just happened today. WOW! He seen me purchase it. but still telling me the same thing that I have been hearing. That I am out of $250. I’ve went back to the store actually a few minutes after I purchased it to get help was a waste of my time. I was told there was nothing that could be done in a very ugly way. The store manager was right there and I still had to wait on her with an her attitude. She was not busy. It’s Like I wasn’t any concern to them. She repeated a few times that they did not give a refunds for cards, because it is not their policy. The district manager also told me the same thing. Well, the policy also states that you need to activate a card when taking someone’s money. So it is like Dallor General has stolen my money. It is not my fault that there is a glitch in your system or whatever the problem could’ve been, but I paid for my card and I do not have anything on it. Plus, it is not my fault that the receipt does not match the card. The district manager told me that he seen the transaction that was made on video, Also seeing me getting a receipt and the card, but still stating that he cannot help me, he has to talk to his boss to find out what else to do.
I called headquarters today and spoke to a girl named summer who gave me a reference number CCS0123617. Told me to get the store to have them call incomm because the customer cannot call. She told me that I should be able to get a refund after I explained every single thing to her. As I am to you. I gave them $250 for this card. So what they are telling me is they sold me an activated card, because the receipt states it was activated and I went back to tell them. It doesn’t prove anything when it comes to machines. All I know is the card holder that I purchased i
A card that is not activated. I was told By the phone system and person. I needed this card that day and I purchased it. I told them at the store that I needed it ASAP. They did not care. They didn’t even want to speak to the card holder person on the phone. I had to go the next day and get a new card from a different store, not Dollar General. Because I could not get a refund or activated card. Going back to the store minutes after buying it was a waste of my time and gas. The store manager did not want to speak to her, but did, telling her the same as I was told and was very ugly about the whole situation, told me she couldn’t help me and walked away. I think this is totally redundant. So Dallor General has my money $250 and I have nothing. I could understand not getting a refund because the card has been used. The woman told her it wasn’t activated. I told the district manager that I want a refund. He said sorry.
So now I’ll call the police for fraud and have them handle it. All for a $250 non activated card. FOR A LARGE COMPANY THIS IS Ridiculously unfair to customers that work hard for their money and have to fight for what is theirs. What has been done to them, I enjoyed shopping at Dollar General right now. I have to think twice about walking into one. This will be posted on social media. Plus in your reviews, not to buy a gift card from Dollar General because it is a scam.
My calling tomorrow management team, chief executive, Jeffrey Owen, or finding a email address. Attaching to executive VP Kathy Readon, attaching to President John Garrett, and so forth. Giving all of this management teams information to the police.
Desired outcome: REFUND ! To get what is mine, to stop ugliness in a dollar general store, to be welcomed into a Dollar General store, or feel welcomed in a Dollar General store. This is my money and I will work hard to get it back.
Dollar General - store in general
I live close by so the store is convient for Me. I've been there 3 or more times to try to buy Sugar and they been out of stock for at least 3 weeks now. If U would go there today and just look at the store U would see what I'm telling U about the Shelves r Empty. I went yesterday again and they still don't have any Sugar, No Family Dollar Paper Towels, Very few of any paper towels that is... The only thing that as stocked this week was the cooler, they had that pretty much stocked... The washing Powder Isle was pretty much Empty. I bought the last 2 bottles of Era they had. No Dollar store Bleach at all. The store looks like a Hurricane went through it for sure. And this is a pretty busy store, so why cant ya'll keep this store stocked at all times. The workers are Lazy, they only do what they have to do ... I'm sorry to complain but Ya'll are missing out on a lot of Money not having this store stocked.
I use the store in Chapman Ks. For the most part it is a good store. It is more often than not that I have to go looking for someone to check out. PUT A BELL AT THE STATION! Furthermore it seems that they double check some items. Why? Once is a mistake several times is a problem. When they bag your goods they don't ensure that you have all your bags, .Once again this is a problem.

I bought a card from there and could not use it because when scratching it off the code was unreadable. It is terrible to spend money and then not be able to use the item. I get that it is a gift card from a different company, but if DG is selling it in their store, we should get a refund.
I understand how it may look to a store employee. The employee I talked to was nice about it, and I did appreciate that. I hope you have a wonderful day, Howard!
