Dollar Tree - management, unprofessional and rudeness

This is a formal complaint in regards to manager of store #4391. While shopping in your store today june 17, 2013, around 10:45 am with my three children and my granddaughter in the toy aisle, my six year old son picked up a rubber ball and bounced it twice and without any warning this rude voice came from the next aisle "no bouncing the ball in the store". I would have not minded the correction if it was posted or if she would have come over and addressed the situation in a professional manner. She could have easily said we would appreciate it if you did not bounce the ball in the store. But that was not done. The way she addressed my son made me become defensive as a father. So I went around the corner to see who said this and to no surprise I saw an afro-american lady with dreadlocks stocking shelves. So I addressed her in saying "you make up rules as you go along" due to none being posted in the store. She replied rudely about the chances of products being knocked off the shelf and glass in the store, this is understandable. If she wasn't so quick to be rude this situation would have been handled by me, his father in the proper manner. A few minutes later I asked for my daughter to call for her mother outside of the store to come in. This is when I heard this individual say in a low voice "you can get the hell out" I addressed her by asking did she just say you can get the hell out of the store and of course she said no. I heard exactly what she said and her unprofessional behavior will not be received well by me, this is why I am writing this complaint. I also made a statement earlier in this complaint not being surprised who it was. This lady is always rude when we come to the store she has no professionalism and her ipc skills are nonexisting. There was no greeting upon entering the store but a customer can be told rudely without any warning what the store rules are, then cursed and still are expected to spend their money in this store. I later found out while in checkout she was the store manager, unacceptable! I serve the public as well and if I addressed the public in such a manner, that would be my job. Let me also mention that this was not a heated exchange and to receive such language from the store manager is unacceptable. If this type of behavior and attitude is the standard of this store I will just shop elsewhere. I would greatly appreciate a response to this complaint. My email address is [protected]@verizon. Net. Thank you for your time and consideration.

Wow. The comments here are just as bad as the complaint. I just wanted to come on here and try to offer a little more food for thought. First, customers should be treated with respect. That should be a given. Unfortunately, real life often gets in the way of the "ideal, " and my guess is that is what happened here. These are not excuses, just possible reasons that I think people should be more aware of. The DT treats its employees about as bad as I've ever seen in retail despite what their website claims. Most positions are only part time at barely over minimum wage. Part time, of course, comes with no benefits whatsoever and no employee perks or discounts. While most retail stores give 15-minute breaks for every two hours of work or thereabouts, DT gives a single 10-minute break in a 5.5 hour shift. Even the temperature of their stores is set so high to save them money that employees come close to passing out from the heat in warmer climates. (Just visit one in the summertime and take a look at the soaking wet cashiers). Company policy does not allow them to have fluids or even gum to keep hydrated or to keep their mouths from drying out as a result of the fluid loss. If customers change their minds about wanting a product that has already been rung up, the employee gets in trouble for the voided item. If they work longer than they are supposed to to accomplish the impossible expectations, the employee gets written up. They basically treat their employees like trash. The one good thing about them is that they don't violate anti-discrimination laws by requiring their applicants to take "personality tests" like most retail stores do now. Obviously, this means people who do not have polished social skills or who have personality issues can still get a job there to take care of themselves without "leaching off the government." The truth is, nobody who could get a job elsewhere would work for this company for very long and I suspect the company knows it and uses it to their advantage. The point is that you're not going to get real customer-service oriented people who are "happy to help" in that sort of environment, and when people are barely surviving, they are not likely to be the most pleasant people in the world. You are worried about your son's feelings getting hurt for doing something he shouldn't have been doing in the first place. The employee is probably worried about how she's going to FEED her son when she gets off work. The smaller point is that those employees break their backs for that near-minimum wage. The company under-staffs their stores (more profit for the CEO) and they expect one cashier to do the job of about three. Whatever you mess up, she has to fix in the highly-restricted time period she's given. The more people act irresponsibly or inconsiderate, the harder it is for her to do her job well, and to her, this amounts to yet another person showing her how little she is valued. It is infuriating to finally get two minutes away from a register to fix up the store only to have a customer come through and, say, bounce a ball into a glass-filled shelf and knock it all over the place or break it or unload half their buggy in areas where the products don't belong or bring their items up to the register and THEN decide they don't want half of it. All of those types of things mean less time for her to get her actual daily tasks accomplished for the day. So while I agree that ideally, the customer should be treated with respect, it's also not a bad idea to take a moment and consider that before she is an employee, she is a human being who MAYBE, just MAYBE, has a few things going on in her own life that make it a little difficult to be the cheerful customer service rep you feel you deserve.

Sounds like you had a typical response from a KKK racist trailer trash maggot found in harve a degrace Maryland. Stupid doesn't even begin to describe your type. You should of been more concerned with the animalistic behavior of your demon spawn offspring. Or you could of postponed your purchase of cigarettes and Old Milwaukee beer and spent a Dollar for the little brat to bounce off your trailer. I doubt if Dollar General will minis anyone out of your mutant gene pool if you stop going there. Stick to Walmart with the rest of your type.
