I rented a red chev cobalt from enterprise rent-a-car, owings mills around september 5th and returned the vehicle on the 22nd to the enterprise location on crain hwy, glenn burnie, md.
Then I surprisingly received a damage charge from enteprirse rent-a-car for over $700 claim.
The claim was for the cobalt's taillights and bumper damages, that are not caused by me!
It was one of those extremely gloomy days; the rain was pouring and the sky was dark and cloudy. bill, the enterprise rental associate at owings mills, md 21117 showed me the chev cobalt not in the front of the rental service, but at the back of the rental service, under a roof tent, with very dim lighting.
He quickly walked me through around the car. I saw a few black spots on the bumper as well as suspicious scratches on the tail lights and I pointed out to him. bill said: oh, they are not scratches or anything; it’s just dirty!” I looked at him and wanted to take a closer look; however, bill took a step quicker and said ” yes, it’s just dirty!”
Then he hurried me to move on.
When I signed the forms, I double confirmed with him about the “dirty spots”. he said “don't worry!” and he would not put any damange notice on the paper.
Just as anyone can imagine, when I try to return the vehicle at glenn burnie, md location, a female enterprise associate at crain hwy, glenn burnie, md, questioned about the marks on the car and the taillights! I immediately asked the female associate to call bill and repeated what bill said about “dirty”. the female associate spoke to bill and then she told me ” bill will close out this ticket”.
Nothing further.
Nothing was communicated to me for 3 wks! no one said anything about charging me. until this $765 dollar bill.
for damages that are not made by me
Enterprise rental advertises as one of the best networked rental services, as you can return a rental car in any location. but it’s one of the most convenient ways that they can charge you any damage. its just I realized too late.
To enterprise rent-a-car :
Is this what you mean by superior or what so called world-class service and complete customer satisfaction?
Is this how you show your customer integrity and honesty?
I trusted your neighborhood network and believed in your culture of customer service, and see what I get?
I feel nothing but being taken advantaged of!
Dear td577,
Not everyone is experienced with car renting. We all learn our lessons.
All I can say is, I trusted an EXPERIENCED Enterprise rental ssociate when I should NOT!
And still, I am relying on the people and the firm's INTEGRITY to solve this case .
The complaint has been investigated and resolved to the customer's satisfaction.

I had a similar issue with enterprise, and took them to small claims court to get my deductible back. From this I uncovered that if you return the car after hours, or to a satellite location than you are responsible for the vehicle until they check it in, which could be anytime (even a month!). I'm interested connecting with other folks who had similar issues to talk about legal rights. If you'd like to learn more about taking some legal action, please contact me at enterpriseclaims@hotmail.com (not associated with Enterprise, just don't want to give out my personal e-mail). Hope to hear from anyone soon.
When we returned a rental to Enterprise last week, the person checking us in got on his knees and looked under the car and found a small dent. When we rented it, the guy walked around quickly and did not find a thing, and certainly did not get on his knees and look UNDER the car. Now we just received a statement that we are responsible for damages to the bumper, the wheel, a DOOR HANDLE, a MIRROR. What? I am finding accounts like ours all over the internet. Our incident happened in Baton Rouge, Louisiana.
