I feel like you should be aware of the treatment your customers receive. As a long time Dollar Tree customer I am disturbed and upset by what happened to me at your location on St. John St.in Portland Maine tonight. Before I left the house I checked my bank account balance and knew I had $16 in there so I did not bring any cash with me. I proceeded to walk through the store and pick out the items I needed and some I wanted and enjoyed the wonderful deals I was receiving this holiday season. While deciding on a table clothe I met who I believe to be the manager, I had spoken to him on a previous visit, at which time his attitude left something to be desired, but I though maybe he had just been having a bad day that day. I began with "Can I ask you a quick question?" which was followed my a roll of the eyes and a sigh, then proceeded to ask him if the table clothe I was looking at was round. He looked at it and said "I can tell by the package that it isn't round." and proceeded to speed off with a cart filled with nothing walking up and down the isles, not sure what he was doing, but that is besides the point... I finished up my shopping and went to the check out. The cashier was wonderful and I joked with her and the gentleman behind me in line about how good of a deal the broom was and that I was excited not the be using a straw one anymore. It came time to pay and I ran my card, with all the sincere respect in the world the girl told me it had been declined, very low tone to make sure I wasn't embarrassed. I said that was weird and asked if we could run it again. Declined again. So I found 2 dollars in my pocket and the gentleman behind me, bless him, gave me the 10 cents to get 2 of the 8 items I was getting. Of course she had to call the man who I think may be the manager up (longer feathered dirty blond/light brown hair, maybe mid 30's early 40's), he was not pleased with the situation at all. He told her to do the complete void, helped her with it with an awful attitude and then told her she would have to ring EVERYTHING (which he said several times) in again. After the wonderful cashier had done so she asked him what to do next. he proceeded with a very irritated "What do you mean?" She stated that she had rung everything in again as he had stated. He then sighed and yelled across the entire front of the store so that everyone could here, "I meant ring the items in that she is going to pay for. Obviously, if she doesn't have the money to buy the items don't ring them in!" I was so embarrassed. I then proceeded to pay for my 2 items, gave the man behind me the 90 cents in change, apologized to the girl and walked out, wishing everyone including who I presume to be the manager a Merry Christmas. I was shaking as I exited the store. Just so you know I make a very good wage and can afford to buy at least half of the items in your store with one paycheck if I wanted to. I want something done about this, so that this never happens to another customer. As a person who has worked in customer service for many years I am appalled that this would ever happen. The cashier was wonderful and did not deserve to spoken down to like that and for the "manager" he needs to treat all customers with respect, ALL. So what if a women can only spend what little she has on 8 items in your store? She chose your store to shop at, that does not make her a lesser person because she does not have all the money she may deserve. I happen to not be that women anymore but I have been on in the past. I would like something done about this. I should not have to cry because I am a hard working citizen who was wrong about their bank account balance. I will have trouble walking into your St. John St. location again or any other location for that matter. Be careful who you have working for you, they are the face of your company to your customers. I don't think this is a face you want...

Your statements seem to conflict with each other. I would think if you made a very good wage, your card would not have been declined for $8 plus tax.
I do believe the manager should have handled the situation a little better, but you should know your own financial situation.
