On Saturday 8/26/23 around 12:30pm my father went to Lowes Hardware in Mt. Airy, NC to get 24 10 x 10s for a deck. I called to check on him around 1:20pm. When he answered I asked if he was ok, and he replied that he was in the back of Lowes putting back the deck flooring he had loaded (alone) because he got the wrong size. I asked wasn't someone helping him, and he replied no and that no one offered. My husband and I went straight down to Lowes (about 11 minutes away) and found my 73-year-old dad - 115 pounds loading the correct deck flooring after he had loaded the wrong deck flooring and unloaded it alone in 90-degree weather!
When my husband and I arrived, there was a man sitting on the tow motor on his phone. He saw us come in and help my dad and did not move! In addition, a young man in a Lowes' vest came over to the man on the tow motor and looked straight at us and did not offer any help! There were no other customers in the back lot being helped at the time we were there.
Do you not teach customer service and work ethics? What would have happened if I had taken a video of this, and my father had a heart attack?
I know customers can be difficult, but this is so wrong!
My father would not have gotten the wrong deck flooring if someone had helped him in the first place.
I really do not like to complain because I have oversight of complaints at the hospital where I am Compliance / Risk Officer however this is truly sad.
I often hear customer service complaints from customers in the store and the community.
