Dollar General

I shop at the Dollar General at 1850 N Valley in Las Cruces, NM. I love Dollar General for the convenience and good prices and the ease of shopping and finding things in the store. Lately I have been put off and really disgusted with our manager at the store on Valley. I go in often to buy items and some of them are on sale. Even if the price is a little more than the price of the same product at WalMart or Walgreens, I still shop at the Dollar General because of the ease of shopping there. The manager there has lately been begging for donations for the school and for the literacy program. So if I go there to get some soda that is already 50 cents to a dollar higher than WalMart and the manager shames me into donating a dollar or more to literacy or the backpack fund, then it isn't a good deal for me to shop there anymore. I am not rich with money to just donate left and right but anytime there is a good deal, the manager says "so how much are you going to give me for a donation after those good prices" and I am just really tired of that. There goes any savings that brought me into the store in the beginning. It should be my decision to donate if I want and I hear the clerk asking every single person to round up and almost all do because you know that everyone heard them ask and you don't want to be the tight wad that said no. It is just not feeling good anymore to go that dollar general. Other stores are not so pushy, but the manager at the Valley location, I feel, is just being way too forceful about the whole thing.
