I was literally JUST informed by a very recently former employee (quit due to scheduling conflicts, and I understand the conflicts now) that Dollar General stores are supposed to have TWO (2) staff members on site to close the store for the night. I have encountered MANY instances with the Dollar General store in Batavia, NY, where team member employees (not even an assistant manager level, let alone management) are left with ONE (1) employee to close out the store, and they are deliberately scheduled alone to close out the store due to short staffing. Now, correct me if I'm wrong, but wouldn't it be the manager's responsibility to take up that slack and make sure to at least make it in to close out the store with the lower level employee? This woman is rude, disrespectful to customers AND employees, and she's singlehandedly responsible for not only my own lack of desire to shop at this store, but many people I know, as well. She runs from helping customers and shows (again, in front of customers) obvious irritation and disgust to employees for needing her management level to perform certain actions on registers. Her name tag is usually turned around, but I've witnessed her leaning over and revealing her name to be Jennifer. I'm also not sure if this is common policy, but another former employee left on good terms with the store itself, but bad terms with that manager, and now, every receipt that she gets is deliberately torn in half to remove the review serial number to prevent possible bad reviews. If it is policy, its an extremely childish policy to censor genuine reviews just because it may not be a good review. This is all extremely off-putting and if it's the average type of person Dollar General hires at their stores, I have absolutely no desire to continue assisting in paying the salary of people this rude and lazy, since every time myself or someone I know goes to that store, that woman is ALWAYS outside smoking. I have NEVER walked into that store with her on shift, and had her be IN the store when I walk up to it. I'm perfectly fine with spending more money elsewhere, since the pleasant people that work there EARN their pay. Don't get me wrong, I have no issues with any of the other employees. They're very helpful, kind and friendly. But doesn't it say a lot that ONE (1) employee is making it so unpleasant there that it overshadows all the pleasant encounters with literally EVERYONE ELSE that I've had? This really needs to be addressed if you want to continue making any kind of profit from the Batavia, NY location.
Desired outcome: This horrible attitude problem adjusted, no matter how it has to happen.
