Lowe's

I signed a contract with Lowe's to build me a deck in Early June; materials were 2 months on order; then waited 2 more months to get on the installer's schedule.

When the installer finally began work, it turned out that Lowe's had not delivered all the materials needed, and some of what was delivered was incorrect. It took another six weeks to get a second delivery of materials, and to get back on the installer's schedule. This process required a lot of phone calls on my part to both Lowes and the installer to make sure that everyone was kept up to date. When the installer started working the second time, we discovered that there were a lot of discrepancies between the design sketches that we had agreed with when we signed the contract and what was actually in the design plans that the contractor drew up and submitted to the building inspectors office; we had to argue with the contractor about several things whether or not they would be as they showed in the original design sketches. It also turned out that the second delivery still did not have all the materials to complete the deck. When it came to footings under the stairs or whether the stairs would be supported only by bare ground, the contractor decided that working for Lowe's was no longer in his best interests and walked off the job. This leaves us with a half finished deck frame, without the materials needed to finish the project, and no installer to do the work. Lowe's does not know how to find someone to finish the job and have said that they are not sure where to go from here.

Long story short, I wish that I had just gone to a contractor instead of getting services through Lowe's. The process has had a serious negative impact on my mental health, and six months after signing the contract I still don't have a deck or any path forward to get one.
