On August 31, 2019, I went to Dollar General Store #15141 located in Lewisburg, WV. I came to purchase variety of things plus rent a Rug Doctor. I looked at them different times before this day and there was always a sign hanging up on the display stand stating they had a Rug Doctor Pro Spot Cleaner/Detailer for $24.99/24 hr. rental or $19.99/4 hr.rental. This is not the normal shampooer they have, it's only used with built in attachment brush cleaner. So, as I proceeded to check out I stated I wanted to rent a machine the Pro Spot Cleaner. She scanned the form and I said what was the price on that and the cashier said $30. I said no that's not right it's supposed to be $24.99. Cashier then said no, they have never had one at the price. Now at this time the Manager Michelle Lewis walked up because she overheard us. Michelle stated no it was $30 they have always been $30. I then mentioned AGAIN the sign stating the price. She said she didn't know why that was there but it was $30. I then said well why have a sign dispalying the price if your not using that price. Michelle and cashier stated to each other they never known it to be different price it's only ever been $30. So I had to sign paper after she filled out my info and I left with the machine. I stop at the gas station a mile away and look at paperwork and see there is a separate UPC code to scan for the Pro spot cleaner. I then turned around went back to the store. When I go inside the previous cashier was outside smoking and new cashier was in there and I asked to speak with Michelle. Michelle came to the counter and she gave me a look like she was annoyned to see me. I told her and showed her on the paperwork that they scanned the wrong machine. That I didn't rent the basic shampooer for $30 that they should have scanned the spot cleaner. I said see, here is what I have the spot cleaner the same machine and it shows it on here. That's why your not ringing up $24.99 bc it's wrong UPC code and charging the other model. The new cashier then took the paper and said in a very creative tone that there machines where $30 and what I was looking at was the extra tools to rent and that they know what to scan. Then Michelle says that's not what we scan, the one we scanned is correct. We did it correct. I then pointed out AGAIN that the sign hanging up with the machines stated $24.99 & the name of machine. The machine I rented and the one on the paper they didn't scan. Michelle then walked over to the display took the price sign off it and said she didn't know why it was there but it was coming down and thrown away so she didn't have to hear about it again. I said well if it's up there it's bc that is what the cost is. It's not a sale price for for certain dates it's all the time. And I'm not getting charged that. The cashier then moaned out, OMG really. Michelle didn't not say anything to her about her attitude towards me, but probably bc she had one as well and when talking to me the whole time she was very crappy and at times spoke down to me like I was stupid. I was very mad at this point when she flat out refused to even scan and see it was the price, throwing sign away instead of trying to make it right, and their attitudes all around. So I said fine then if you can not admit it's wrong or even attempt to try and show me I'm wrong. Then no point talking with you anymore when your not listening. Michelle just walked off and the cashier stood there looking at me like i was a problem. So I go home, mad, knowing I was done wrong. And I look up rug Doctor website clicked on rentals which shows me the spot cleaner I had with the price they did have hanging up. Then I clicked on find rental location. It then went to their store showing the machine I rented plus the original shampooer. So here I have the paperwork showing the machine I rented but they wouldn't scan for it only scan under the shampooer. And I have screenshots to show the price of rentals, the location I was at had those rentals. The only thing I didn't get which if I known the outcome I would have took a photo of sign showing the price but Michelle took it and threw it away. But, this is not the end. I get machine out of my car, go to lift on the porch and I hear water splashing around. I look at the machine closer and the clean water container is almost full of water/cleaner. Then I look at the dirty water side. It had the bottom of container covered with dark dirty water and dog /cat hair inside of it and dried/stucked to inside of it. I go and pull the brush attachment off the machine and the brush bristles and the inside of the attachment was completely full of dried up dirt, animal hair, human hair and nastiness. It made my stomach rolled and the smell was awful. Now whomever returned this did NOT clean it nor whomever was supposed to check it for cleanliness did not. The form and machine states to clean it properly or be charged extra when returned. This case it did not happen the employee just replaced it back and locked it back like it was fine. I was not able to take it back due to I had no transportation to go there again and I didn't want to deal with their horrible attitudes. I'm sure if I would have returned over that even if it clearly was on their lack of competence to do their jobs correctly. I was not in the mood to deal with anyone of them again. So not only did I get overcharged for my rental, I was treated with no respect just their straight bad attitudes towards me and the situation. Made me feel as I was a nusciance to them. Refused to see my points of situation, made it clear they was not going to make it correct. But to end up with a dirty, stinky machine that took me 45 minutes to clean it out and use a pair of needle nose pliars just to get the dried up hair that was stuck to machine and bristles down into hose. It was disgusting! I did debate to return it dirty as I received it. But, I did not. I cleaned it out completely just as I would want to receive it. I returned it today. Actually in hopes when I did they would say they where sorry they found it was a mistake. But, no, that was not the case. When I walked in the cashier was the same one who actually checked me out yesterday. She looked at me then turned and said something to Michelle and turned back at me again not to say anything but looked at me like I was crap. Michelle then came walking towards me, I was standing with machine at the display to return. I thought she was walking to get the machine and inspect it. She just walked past me and would not acknowledge me standing there to do this. Even though cashier told her I was there. She obviously wanted to make me wait bc. She just walked past me then again while having the keys to unlock it . Ignoring me each time. So I finally left machine sitting beside display walked down the aisle at which time she came over and put it back up. So I left then knowing it was put away. I would highly recommend someone needs to do something about how a employee treats a customer especially a manager. She is supposed to show how to handle things. And all she showed the other cashier's who both need attitude adjustments is they do what they want. If she wants to charge you something, she will. She don't have to go by display price she charges what she wants to. So you have a manager charging customers what she thinks not the companies involved. I would hope some kind of action is taken against her. I'm sure you check video footage you will see this all on it and her walking over to take price down. I would like to hear I would get so reimbursement of my charges. I was overcharged and sent home with a filthy machine to clean just to use. This is ridiculous! I was treated in a way that should not at all be allowed. And to let managent carry on this way will only cost the company alot in the end. I hope someone will do something to the ones involved and make my situation better all the way around. I will send attachment photos to show the way I received the machine plus the proof of cost what I should have been charged. I still have paperwork and receipts to show proof. I'm sorry this is so long I just want to make sure everything was stated bc I'm so mad about all this.
