I purchased furniture from my local store in Columbia, SC in January. The lady who assisted with placing my order, DIane, was very sweet and told us that if we needed to change a pickup date, just to let them know and they didn't have a problem doing so. The order was to be in in early February. My couch came in and we went a picked it up. My chaise was supposed to be in Feb 15th. It finally came in on March 1st. I wasn't notified until the morning of its arrival, but I was working that day. I called to change the pickup date and Marie at the Columbia store was extremely rude. I was told that it would only be held for 48 hours and that I needed to pick it up by March 5th. I spoke with my son and he was able to go with me on March 4th (Tuesday). I called the store to update my pickup date. I spoke with Marie once again and she told me that Tuesday would be fine for pickup. I drove over Tuesday only to be met with yet another rude associate who told me the warehouse is closed on Tuesdays. I cannot understand why the associates work at a job they so obviously don't take seriously. I'm a real estate agent here in Columbia, SC and I would never dream of treating customers that way. I know for a fact that I will no longer recommend Value City furniture to anyone who asks me about a good furniture store. I will never purchase furniture here again either. My son said he will also not recommend any of his friends to buy furniture from Value City. This is the first time I have had any issues with this company. We have purchased furniture in the past when we lived in PA and we had a great experience each time. This has truly been a very disappointing experience.
Recommendation: Run far and fast away from Value City Furniture
Value City Furniture clearly doesn’t care about customer service — rude staff, zero coordination, and empty promises. They wasted your time, and they don’t deserve another dollar from you or anyone you know. Good call on never recommending them again.
