never received birth certificate
Ordered and paid for a birth certificate on 12-28-2016 and still haven't received it. The site says 7-10 day but customer service says no it takes 7-10 days to send the request to your state and it takes the state 30 days to send it out. I called my state vital statistics office, paid $10 and got my birth certificate 3 days later. Still haven't heard from vitalchek, they are thieves DO NOT USE THEM, YOU CAN DO THIS YOURSELF IN ANY STATE.

scam business, charged for the document but never sent it.
I first submitted a claim for a divorce certificate in beginning of December and they said it would take 2-3 weeks, I contacted them a moth later and they said they had sent it. But I never received it. After calling and calling I finally got a hold of Cynthia who helped me get a refund and resubmit the request. I later received an email 'do-not-reply' where they said they couldn't find my records (based on same details that I submitted in December!) and that I had to call a 1-800 number. I called for days without getting through, finally a woman said she will "send a request to find out the status" (she could not help me) and that it would take 3-4 days. Two weeks goes by, no response, I call back again and talk to Samantha who says she will submit "another request to find out the status" and it will take again 3-4 days. I asked her to PLEASE contact me when they find the status, I shouldn't have to chase them for an answer when I paid money for this service! Her answer was that they "can not promise that they respond" to me. I believe that this is a total scam business.
birth certificate ordering / no support or reason to use them
Ordered my birth certificate on 2/1/17. Received it on 2/3/17. My name and my fathers name were both misspelled. Called VitalCheck and was told that I had to "call the state office myself because VitalCheck does not provide any services." You pay to use their website and that is it.
For example: Person 1 wants to tell person 2 their name. VitalCheck steps in and says they will tell person 2 the name of person 1 for a fee. VitalCheck will provide absolutely no support in the event of any mistakes made. You simply pay them to act as an unnecessary middle man that provides no actual service. Person 1 can give person 2 the same info and have the same results.
There is no reason for VitalCheck to be involved in this transaction. But they convince you that it's safer and easier for you to use their non-service. VitalCheck simply collects your money and all of your personal/sensitive info and then does the same thing with the state office that you just did with VitalCheck. You're paying for nothing. Might as well just throw away your money and do everything yourself. Its the same amount of work and the same outcome.
birth certificate
The only reason I paid extra to use their service is speed. However, instead of taking about 3 to 5 business days to get the birth certificates as they promised it's going to take me over 30 days, and it's not due to a fault on my side.
First, they make you pay their ridiculously expensive fees early on in the application process. After they take your money, you have to go through their document uploading process that is confusing to say the least. If you somehow manage to upload your documents, they will probably contact you a few days later because they do not accept one document you uploaded, even though the city/county accepts it according to their website.
It's been over 20 days since they accepted and verified my documents and I have not received the birth certificates. I've been exchanging emails back and forth with them for several days and will probably not get the birth certificates on time to apply for a passport and go on my trip.
It would have been way much faster to get my certificates had I applied using any of the other options. Now I wasted over 20 days because I relied on them.
Do yourself a favor and drive down to your city/county hall or mail your application and avoid this VitalChek scam.
I'm really surprised that they are still in business and have not been shut down for false claims.
Never again.

I wish I'd seen this before using Vitalchek, I have had the same experiences as you listed and above. This is a scam, I would have received my death certificate if I had ordered it directly. Instead I'm arguing with customer service. This is horrible!
Refund never received.. Order #[protected]
I cancelled my order for a pa birth certificate on 10/26 /16 and was told my refund would be released within 48 hrs and as of 11/02/16 it.. They still haven't released the funds when I call the customer service number [protected] and wait for 20 minutes I'm told there is nothing they can do because its in the state of pa. But was told it would be after the 1st of the year before my order was processed I cancelled .. vitalchek says that they have no way to help me recoup my 48$ I paid and said to contact my bank..at this point it appears vitalchek doesn't want to help me further
paid for and ordered birth certificate and never received it.
On July 25th. 2016 I ordered a birth certificate for my son who needs it to get his drivers license . I paid 48.00 for it. 18.00 dollars of the 48.00 was to assure me it would get to my address, but i never received it. I called the number on my receipt and talked to customer service several times, but the first call the woman told me to give it 8 more days. After 8 days was up i called back . All they told me was i should have got it, and then they put me through to speak with someone else but all i ever heard was to call back later. After about the 20th. time of calling with no results i writing this. I really need this and as soon as possible, or my 48.00 dollars returned.

birth certificate torn in mail, not resent
I received my son's birth certificate through UPS, and the top left corner was torn. I reported the issue to VitalChek, and from our conversations I expected to get another copy of the certificate plus a refund for shipping ($20). I waited weeks, and when I finally called for a 2nd update on 10-12-16 I was told that I was given a full refund and that I would have to place my order again. I would have ordered another certificate weeks ago if I had known they were not going to replace the damaged one. I feel this is one of the most important documents in someone's life and it has been poorly handled. Although UPS were the ones responsible for the damage, whoever packaged the certificate did not provide ANY protection for the document inside the envelope. I would suggest a clear sleeve or cardboard backing for protection (especially since shipping was $20). I will not use VitalChek again. The last person I spoke to on the phone didn't seem intent on making the situation right at all. She made me feel the only option was the accept my refund and re-order from their terrible service after she "told me how it worked". My order# was [protected]
service/payment
Hi
I recently needed a copy of my birth certificate. I went online and placed an order with my debit card. Order # [protected]. I was shortly told after that my debit card declined. I immediately called and spoke to a service representative. She said I needed a new card to process. I gave one of my credit cards to avoid any issues of decline. She simply said this was for my koriginal order-just a new payment.
A few days later my debit card was charged and my credit card for 2 different transactions. I never authorized a 2nd process, I was simply authorizing the one payment. I didn't need 2 copies.
I tried to call numerous times to dispute but all I received was a very rude service rep named Jessica Soto who said it was my fault? I see where the problem was- I called to give my CC for the first order and possibly the representative made a simple error.
I just want my $48 refunded. I am happy to pay for my original order but was the error on Vital Chek.
Thank you so much!

birth certificate
On Nov. 18, 2015 sent in request to Vital Chek through government website to order a copy of my birth certificate. I had to give some information along with my email address. I gave the address several times even spelling it using words to make sure the letters were interpreted the correct way. Two weeks later on Dec. 3, I contacted them and I was informed I had been sent an email telling me my drivers license was clear enough. I tried to complain that I had even spelled out my address but that was no concern to them and they said just take a picture your license and send it through that way. So I did. Its now Jan. 4, 2016 and just got off the phone and was informed by Rose that it has been sent to the agency? whatever she was talking about but I should receive it within the next week and if not by Monday Jan 11 to contact them back. Now I understand the 7-15 day time they give to receive a certificate but I was told by Rose today that starts the day the finish the order and send it out. So that doesn't count holidays or weekends so from Dec. 14 is when she said it closed out, until Jan. 11th makes 15 days. I told her I'm just glad my life didn't depend upon receiving it in a timely manner
theft by deception
I ordered a copy of my birth certificate online on June 5, 2015. They asked me to enter ALL of my personal and identifying information to ensure that my certificate could be accessed. I entered my bank inforamtion and my account was drafted within minutes of my request.
Today is July 15, and I still do not have what I paid for. There is no way to contact these people except Facebook or email. They give me excuse after excuse about not having an order number even after I provided them with a transaction number. I learned the hard way AFTER submitting my request that the internet warns of this company be a scam. I have a fraud watch on my credit file and have cancelled my bank account out of fear of retaliation.
vitalchek not providing documents
I paid VitalChek to provide a divorce decree. They sent the request to the Colorado Department of Public Records. The state of Colorado did not send the documents. Upon contacting VitalChek several (5) times, and being on hold for 15 - 20 minutes each time, I was told, "we have completed our part of the transaction!" Needless to say, they would not follow up. VitalChek told me if the documents were that important, we should have shipped them UPS. We were never offered the option of UPS! I was then told most people don't want to hear the UPS option because they don't want to ship that method. Why did I pay someone to simply request a document? I expected some follow-up. I will never use them again.

Paid to get a birth certificate. . Money was paid through my bank account. . Never received it and they would not help me at all with this. . . Didn't want to hear of it. . . I feel i have been robbed of my money through this company. I did find out it was never mailed out and they would not compensate me. . Sincerely, david k. Wilson
I tried to get a copy of a birth record for a friend that didnt have access to a computer so that her son could start school that asked for a photo copy of her id which we sent but we still have not recived the record and there is no way to speak to anyone from vitalchek. There is not a way to cancel the order.
On March 7 I ordered 2 birth certificates expedite and paid $72.50 and I still haven't received them. They say they were sent UPS and delivered without signatures. Still trying to get them...
I ORDERED MY BIRTH CERTIFICATE JUNE 26, 2012 USING MY VISA CARD. AFTER SENDING THE INFORMATION I RECIEVED A CONFIRMATION NUMBER ORDER NUMBER AND PIN. TODAY I RECIEVED A TEXT STATING THAT MY VISA WAS DECLINED. AND THAT MY ORDER HAD BEEN CANCELLED. I HAVE BEEN WAITING FOR A WEEK PLUS TO RECIEVED MY BIRTH CERTIFICATE. WHAT THE HELL. ITS NOT LIKE I CAN AFFORD 52.00. I'M NEEDING TO APPLY FOR HEALTH CARE BEING I HAVE MEDICALLY TERMINATED FROM MY EMPLOYMENT. YOU ALL NEED TO MAKE THIS RIGHT. MOST DEFINATELY RIPPING DECENT PEOPLE OFF. NOT RIGHT.

paid for product I did not receive
Vitalchek claims to provide a variety of government documents such as birth and death certificates without the necessity of going through the regular state or county process. For this so called service they charge a great deal more than the various agencies charge.
What they don't tell you nor do they take any responsibility for, is the fact that what you are trying to obtain may not even exist, which is a gross misrepresentation of what they claim to provide.
I paid over $72 for a copy of my grand fathers birth certificate and after telling me that i would receive expedited delivery, i received a letter from the state of michigan 2 weeks later that the record does not exist. Direct communication with vitalchek is very difficult and they accept no responsibility for accepting payment for a product that they could not provide despite their claims to the contrary.
Avoid this company. Most states provide mail options to receive the documents you may require at considerably less money than this company.
bad business
This company takes your credit card information online before asking you for a social security number. If you do not wish to give them your social security number and decide not to complete the online order at that time, they will still charge your card a non-refundable fee -- even though not one minute has passed and they have done nothing for you. There is no way to cancel your incomplete order -- even if you call immediately and speak with one of their customer reps. The one I got was extremely rude.

ripped off
I wish I had seen this website before I gave them 60.00 for certified divorce papers which I never got! As with many other people on this site, I was told that there was no record of them. That's total bs because I have a copy of them but they are not certified. Ss says they have to be certified. Ugh... Dont waste your money on vitalchek. And for your sake I hope you don't have to deal with the state of virginia.

unethical
Vitalcheck has set up their online service to appear when you are looking for the state government site. T was confused that the state would ask so much for a birth certificate. Now they have my 59. 00 and i have no recourse for a bogus service. A 20. 00 charge to mail 2 slips of paper should be against the law.

I agree, I was also scammed by this company that is backed by the BBB. They will not assist you in anything after the sell. They will defer you straight to the Government and then tell you it is not their fault you got nothing for your money. I cannot see where the government allows such a company to so easily obtain vital records with out any responsibility for the outcome. If they do not know what you received then how the h@@ are they ordering it and are we sure when we receive the useless copy that they do not receive the original. And if this good business then I guess we just need to go ahead and send all our personal information to anyone in any foreign country, tell them to use it, is ok.
But go ahead let them blame the government for a p@@ pour service with no fault for something you paid for and did not get. Where is ANDY WISE? Should not someone find out why a company can obtain vital records and not be held accountable when documents are sent and they have no idea as to what you got? POOR SERVICE BAD COMPANY big SCAM I could easily make a copy of what I received and put it on here and it still would be useless to anyone.
If this is okay, then I am going to start my own business, doing the same thing. Obviously there is nothing wrong with someone being able to get any information they need on anyone. Where is NATIONAL SECURITY.
pain over 71.00 and received nothing!!
I requested that vitalchek get me 1 copy of my divorce from 1998. I now live in wv. After several weeks of making requests vitalchek told me that the copies did not exist long story short I called the bureau of vital statistics and for 20.00 they sent me 3 copies of my divorce. I got nothing from vitalchek. I still have received nothing and never will. They are scam artists! Please do noft use their services. S. Ritchie

I ordered a death certificate. They give you a order # and pass code. to check on status or upload your required information(drivers license, birth certificate) when you enter the information there is a button to click enter to gain access to the site. nothing happens when you click on the button. cant give information that is time sensitive. you only have a certain amount of time to process.

customer service
I spoke with a rep by the name of Yaiz Gonzalez from the Puerto Rico VitalChek dept regarding the status on my wife's birth certificate on 2/14/13 after receiving a letter in the mail stating that they could not find records to match the name in the system. There was a customer service number attached at the bottom of the letter to give a call with the right info. I call on 2/14/13 and have my wife speak to the rep. The rep informs her that they DID find the birth certificate and that it would be mailed out tomorrow via regular mail. My wife receives an email the next day confirming 2/15/13 that the birth certificate was mailed out by regular mail. She calls again the next day and speaks to a Maria from the Texas VitalCheck location to confirm that it's been shipped and they confirm yes it has and that there's no way to track it since it's regular mail. After waiting for a couple of weeks, my wife receives a call from a rep named Oscar from the Texas VitalCheck location that the birth cerfificate was finally found and that it just shipped that morning of 2/28/13. I call Oscar back to get more info as to why I received an email and was verbally told by two to three different reps that the birth certificate was shipped on 2/15/13 and he could not tell me why but only just reiterate that it was just shipped on the 2/28/13. So that means my wife was lied to! We just now received it FINALLY on 3/08/13 via regular mail after countless calling customer service and emails. This is my experience with VitalChek. If you don't want a similar frustrating experience, I advise you to look elsewhere to retrieve your government records. By the way, I don't understand why VitalChek charges upfront and then asks you to send in more documentation in order to find your record. Why not ask for all documentation first before paying so that if for some reason the business can't find the government record then you don't get duped out of your money.

My husband placed an order with VitalChek on the 23rd of October. The 26th October it was supposedly shipped from that day. It's been over a month. A little piece of paper shouldn't take that long in the Military APO mail. He needs his birth certificate to do his passport and our newborn son's passport and Certificate Birth Abroad. We are suppose to leave the country this month. It's impacting my mission to go back to my next stateside base.
My husband ordered his birth certificate on the 23rd of October. On the 26th of October it supposedly shipped. It's been over a month now. We need his birth certificate to do his passport and our newborn son's passport and certificate birth abroad. He has called PA State and he was put on hold for an hour. This is holding us back to go to our next base which is back in the states. It shouldn't take that long to send a piece of paper through the Military APO mail.
unauthorized charges
Vitalchek has added a second charge without authorization to a prior payment within 5 hours of the original bill. On contact with their CS, they deny making the charge even when the financial institution I do business with researched the charges and found that they both came from the same merchant code, payable to the same bank.. Vitalchecks CS rep was surly and claimed no knowledge and passed me on to a supervisor only after repeated requests by me. The supervisor was also surly and unhelpful, claiming their company did not originate the charge.. And did not give his full name after my request to know who I was speaking to.. I intend to instigate a chargeback process with my financial institution as soon as the charge is posted. Other complaints will be forwarded to the responsible authorities.
