Can't get replacement parts
I purchased a Vivitek Television which needs a replacement color wheel. Not under warranty any longer. No replacement parts are being made available to the public to repair their highly expensive TV, which longer works after a year apparently. What a horrific fraudulent scam is Home shopping Network pulling on unsuspecting consumers?

Lamp/Bulb
I purchased the Vivitek 56" Rear Projection television in July of 2006 I have since had to replace the lamp for the fourth time now. Going direct to Vivitek they will charge you $196.00 for the lamp, but that does include shipping. How kind they are huh? NOT! I just purchased my fourth lamp today from Pureland Supply (www.purelandsupply.com) for $157.00. There is never an indication that the lamp is going to go bad, it just all of the sudden does not turn on. Now it's Thursday and we will go 3-5 days without a tv unless we pay additional shipping fees.
I will NEVER buy another Vivitek product not only because of my disappointment in the amount of replacement bulbs I have had to purchase but also because Vivitek customer service has never been of any help and don't really care that their product is giving me trouble. Needless to say I am EXTREMELY frustrated!

If you cant wait 5 days for a TV, you need to re-evaluate your life. Its just a TV.
Vivitek TV's have always been bad. If you do any research on DLP/LCOS RPTV, Vivitek is down the bottom of the list.
Have you had the TV checked for any of the known problems that RPTV's have? Do you have the TV on a battery backup system or AC Power scrubber?
These lamps are not cheap and they are definitely very complex pieces of equipment.
I work on these type of units and I can tel you most of the failures of lamps are caused by the owner not being aware of how delicate they are to use and install.
is there any recall on this television or tv lamps
Nightmare
It's funny to think i've always told my wife, "don't purchase anything on tv". As I was flipping the channels I stumbled over "shopnbc" and there it was, the love of my life (or so I thought) a vivitek 56"dlp tv, protron hd. The colors the size of the screen all the things you can do with it, amazing (yea, right!).
I called my wife,"hey, honey look at this tv"she tried to talk me out of it but the offer was great. Warranty, picture quality, and function. What a lie! Nothing conforms to this tv none of the universal channel changers. You can't do all the things it says it does. But we accepted that.
We received the tv in october 2005 and in less than six months the tv stopped working. On 3/27/06 shopnbc referred my wife to vivitek. On 3/29/06 I called vivitek who referred her to decision one the so called"technicians".
On 3/29/06 she made an appointment and when the technician came on 4/4/06 he told us he couldn't fix it that the lamp went out but he told the company he had changed some parts and he never did.
Getting them to understand that the technician did nothing and he didn't fix the tv was a nightmare. They refused to listen, treated my wife unprofessionally, hanging up and ignoring her. Calling her a liar. They told her ludicrous things like if you want a technician to come back, the company that opened the account for repair should have ended that request so that a new one can be placed.
My wife continued to call shopnbc, and vivitek she spoke to supervisors and emailed letters. Still time was passing and no tv. $2, 289.98 black monster screen.
My wife was fed up and began to search the web for the corporate offices and sent emails to the corporate offices highest positions of vivitek, delta products she pleaded with them and let them know that with today’s technology and the web it was very easy to let people know how dysfunctional their company was with their customers.
She informed them that if they sell the tv's with a warranty they must abide by it and that she would not allow anyone to steal 2, 289.98 from us.
In the end she finally got someone from corporate office to listen to her and send her the form necessary to purchase the 1 lamp.
Funny isn't it, free enterprise that I wanted to purchase 2 lamps and they did not allow it. I was only permitted to purchase 1 lamp and they wouldn't tell me why. I couldn't get the other lamp even though it was my money.
All this took constant battling until about 5/15/06 that the lamp finally arrived. 2 months of unnecessary frustration, agravation and utter disgust. Now, i'm going to need a new lamp and my frustration begins again. Whyyyyyyy?

Rip off
I bought a 56 inch dlp rear projection television from hsn for $1999.99 on a flex pay schedule. At first it was fine, then I had to replace the lamp. I called vivitek and ordered a lamp and the tech on the phone walked me through resetting the lamp so i did not have across the screen in big red letter, replace lamp. They took my credit card info and sent me a lamp. I had approx 240 lamp time hours left, but when the tech had me reset the lamp it gave me more time, the picture was not too bad yet, so I waited to replace it. The lamp was ordered in March. In June the picture was becoming distorted so time to put the new one in. Two menu screens jumped up on my tv screen, all sorts of distortions and different colors. what a mess. The LED lights were blinking so I resorted to the trouble shooting guide book from vivitek. It stated my problem was power lamp failure. I called vivitek, at a number on there booklet to find it was no longer in service, after several days i was able to come up with a 877 number, which i listed above. It prompted three options, and mine was the third. When I prompted for this option, all it said was it was out of warranty, so to get someone live on landline I prompted for a different prompt and Finally gave a live person, who referred me to corporate division to a girl named Claudia. After several debates, she extended the warranty on the lamp, after all they had changed their phone number, which took me time to find another, then when I did speak to a live person, you could just about understand them to to language barriers, I asked for a supervisor, they told me they had none at first, then it would always seem they were not there then and they would tell me to call back tomorrow, in which I would go through the same ordeal again. They had me first obtain a RMA number, which I had to wait some time for, then pack up and return the lamp, which I paid shipping for for a defective part to begin with, so now you have, $1999.99 for the TV, $196.80 for the lamp, return shipping for approx $11.00 ground. Then I called them for confirmation of receiving the lamp and expectancy of receiving a new one, the told me (you guessed it, call tomorrow. Any messages left were never returned for the most part. Now a month later, I still have no lamp, no tv, a direct tv bill I am still paying for a tv I can not watch and they could care less. They just dance you around and stall you. Now finally in the last few days, I again call to check on shipment, which I had tracked and found a subject named Chang had signed for. They now tell me they have checked out the lamp and find nothing wrong with it and are returning the same lamp to me. Hold up, I know the lamp is defective due to their trouble shooting instructions, pointing to power lamp failure, the tv shutting down making and weird noise and restarting, putting the old lamp back in to check the difference, the old lamp playing a short time and then becomes distorted but the new one problems right from jump street. Do they thing If i did not try this between the old and new lamps, I would pack up and pay shipping to them because I had a good lamp. I told her I did not want the same lamp back again and wanted a NEW lamp or reimburse monies, again she can not get that through her little head and again repeats they will return this defective lamp to me People I have spoken to there, Mel, Sharie, Claudia, and I have received nothing but the run around from Mel and Shari, almost like a practiced skit. I will now be in the process of contacting the atty generals office, consumer protection division, the better business and now you people, Never again will I ever buy a Vivitek product, from hsn or any one else, but now this has also set me against buying products from television, especially big ticketed items. This company needs to be ashamed of what they do to customers. CHEATS, and I hope some lawyer does pick this up and runs with it, its not fair to consumers, nor is it professional, where do they make these things, out of garage? I also understand that possibly Texas Instruments possibly if in business with them. If so, shame on you TI. So come on lawyers I do not thing hard working people should have to take this swindle laying down, teach them a lesson and hello USA made from now on for me. People work too long and too hard for their money to have to go through this. And by the way they could not give me a list of companies who repair their crap, because of obtaining the parts, they can not, why not vivitek is the only one who sells them, now wasn't that convenient!

Everytime I call I feel Like I am calling someone's house -.-. Wish I found these complaints eailier. Run around trying to replace my lamp I haven't got to watch for 2 months which I bought 3 months ago -.-. But now they want me to find the original box(I threw away) And send it back prepaid shipping =/.
if you call vivitek ask for jason kang he is the new public relations guy at vivitek he will help you with any problems any of you have
i too have had trouble with getting a replacement for my tv. i had one lamp replaced at a cost of 380.00 and now one year later the color wheel is deffective and the repairman just called and said he cannot find a replacement. they even tried going to vivitek with no luck. i will never buy anything with the vivitek name brand nor will i recommend them to anyone. i am now calling up hsn where i purchased this piece of garbage and letting them know what is happening
Hi, I am getting a message that I need to replace the lamp and I just bought a new one. The company that I bought the lamp from said that I need to reset the lamp timer. How do I even do that ? Vivitek's website is no longer active and the phone number is not even the same on the manual. I need help !
lamp/color wheel
Same as the other guy! Bought a tv off shopnbc, 56" vivitek with the one year warranty. Wouldn't you know one month after the warranty expired the color wheel burned out. I found this website because I'm online trying to find a replacement lamp now and found this complaint website! let me tell you I don't know if I'm relieved or pissed off to find out someone else has had the same frustration as me at this very moment AGAIN. I would definately not recommend buying anything Vivitek. If you'd like poor reading material the Vivitek manual is a fine read - it is the poorest written book I've ever seen. And customer service? It took along the lines of 2 months to finally get the part and then more time to get someone out here to put it in. Had I known I was going to have to replace lamps every year I would never had bought this TV.
It is very frustrating to spend the kind of money we spent on the 56 inch DLP TV and then have to replace the bulb at $150 every 12-18 months. That's crazy. We've owned a lot of television and this is the first one we've had to put that kind of money into on a regular basis. I was not informed of this issue when I purchased the television. In addition to the expense they are a very hard company to locate and reach. Then the first time I had to replace the bulb the amount of paperwork to complete was crazy. Now I need to reorder again, and am having trouble finding the site again.
I also purchase a Vivitek 52in tv...I have had nothing but problem with it...Replace the lamp 3...times. also very noise the first day we received it from HSN...Call repair company to have them check they would not come out...I found the noise coming from the color wheel. try to locate part...no luck no longer made...very upset..VIVITEK ..I will never buy a VIVITEK AGAIN, , , JUNK, ...Junk.
We had the loud buzzing right away and had added the $250.00 extended warranty when we bought the tv. When we called to diagnose the problem with a technician, he told us that the lamp needed to be replaced at the tune of $187.00. We said to him what about the warranty? And he replied that it didn't cover the lamp. Well it wasn't the lamp because we continued to view tv for another 2 years and just put up with the noise by turning up the volume on the speakers. We just replaced the lamp about 6 months ago and then the tv just quit one night. Not sure if it is the color wheel or the fan. Have been reading all of the complaints on line about this tv. Somebody made a ton of money from this faulty product.
we been buying a new buld about every 6 to 8 month now, and there no way to contack vivitek, and shop nbc has nothing to do with it after the sale. we calling attoney genaral makinf form complant about shop nbc and vivitek hope you all do the same Rich
I received my 56" DLP in 11/11/06 and it went down this past week
06/12/09.I was sure I heard them say on the HSN that the Lamp bulb
would last around 44000 hrs. They said that's like running your tv 11 to 12 yrs 7/24.We usually only turn our tv on to watch the news at
night and we have never rented a movie. We thought this tv would last 10 to 12 yrs without any problems, WRONG.I don't think I'm going to even start buying Lamps for this and I sure I will never buy anything from HSN again. If anyone knows of a recourse for this problem or a solution for the lamp bulbs, let me know.I'm not even sure which bulb I need to order if I wanted to.I can't find a phone # to talk to anyone.Any help will be appreciated.
i to have gemstar 56" box replace lamp 2yrs ago last week the box went pop no power try reset no power look at lamp its ok THANKS NBC JIM PETERSONS i have a new box
Well I just had the same thing happen to me i have the 56" and not even 2 years old..the lamp blew out but i had perchased the 2 yr extended plan ..ps does not cover bulbs and many other things just the sevice call and they told me 357.00 plus tax i had taped shop nbc show when i bought it and they said the bulb should last at least 44, 000 hrs what bull...this is not what i thought i purchased..
Same with me, this will be the third one, I don't think the last one even lasted the 12-18 months
Same thing happened to us. We bought with HSN and about 1month after the 1 year warrenty ran out the lamp died too. We had a nightmare trying to get the part and when we finally did, we ended up installing it ourselves because we couldn't get anyone out here to do it. It has been exactly 1 more year and all of the sudden last night, while watching a program with my son the tv suddenly died. We called HSN because we were furious that the televison that we paid over $2, 000 for just suddenly died. Of course they toke no resposability for selling and item and touting it as "the best televsion", "This one will last for years and years to come", blah, blah, blah. So...Congrats to us, we are now the proud owners of a $2, 000, 51 inch box. I couldn't be happier. So now my husband is dialing and redialing Vivitek to try and find out what they are going to do about this mess that we are in... and I don't have the heart to tell him that we are just going to have to live with this dead box because we can't afford another $2, 000 to shell out for a family television, the Greatest place ever for our son to play his video games, The coolest way for us to watch movies without having to fork over a small fortune for tickets, popcorn and drinks, not to mention the potential lice and health hazzard to could pick up by putting your head on a chair that someone else was just sitting in. So Thank you Vivitek, I just wanted to let you know that due to your shotty products you will bring our family closer ; We will be heading back to the dining room table to play Uno until we can save up to buy another televison. And it won't in any way, shape, or form come from a tv shopping channel or your company. Partly because WE DON'T HAVE A BIG SCREEN TV THAT WORKS ANYMORE!
For 1 year and I've only been able to watch TV for 6 months!
I purchased a tv through Shop NBC in February of 2006. When the tv went bad and I tried to return it Shop NBC told me they have a strict 30 return policy.
This was approximately 6 months after the purchase. I followed their instructions on how to get repairs through the maker. After about 7 weeks of phone tag with them the problem was diagnosed. I was given a number and told to call it once the parts they were sending arrived. I received the parts on December 7,2006 I made my first call on December 8,2006. Since then I have made numerous calls to the number provided by Vivitek and never received a return call. The service company goes by the initials IAI (Integrated automated something). During the last week of December '06 and first week of January '07 I called Vivetek again to see if there was something they could do to help me get the repairs they have authorized. I have not received a call back from them either.
Next month I will have had this tv for 1 year and I've only been able to watch it for 6 months. It appears my only course of action is to have it repaired out of pocket and take them to court to recover repair costs.
The complaint has been investigated and resolved to the customer’s satisfaction.
bought a vivitek projector. Came with a cd manual user guide that didn't tell a thing about how to hook up to a laptop computer and what cables were needed for this system. Don't these things usually come wiht installation cds? Not sure how to get this thing going.

I also got scammed by Vivitek and shopnbc. Everyone please file a claim with the Better Business Bereau here;
https://odr.bbb.org/odrweb/public/getstarted.aspx
I bought a vivitek 56" HD tv from shopnbc a little over year ago, and it stop working and will not turn on
I can't find anyone who will work on them and the company will not help you. This was false advertisement by ShopNBC on this product. I have went to other site and I truly believe that they knew this product was defect but they continued to promote the sale of this junk. We need to come together and forward this to the department of commerce, because the federal government needs to get involve when you have commerce being sold over the country on TV with this kind of fraud.
WE BOUGHT A 52'' VIVITEK ALSO FROM SHOPNBC, AND WHAT A RIP OFF WITH THEM. I CAN'T BELIEVE THAT SHOPNBC WOULD EVEN SELL PRODUCTS WITH AS MANY COMPLAINTS AS THEY GET. I ONLY HAVE HAD MY TV FOR 2 YEARS, AND NOW MAKES A VERY BAD HUMMING NOISE. I RESEARCHED THE TV AND FOUND A TROUBLESHOOTER GUIDE AND WE THINK IT IS AN OPTICAL MODULE. WHERE TO FIND ONE ? I CALLED VANCE BALDWIN AND ONE PERSON SAYS 900.00 TO GET PART AND THE OTHER WE TALKED TO THERE SAYS THEY HAVE NO PARTS. SO WHATS UP WITH THAT. SHOPNBC SAYS WHEN THEY ADVERTISED WITH THE GUY WHO SELLS THE PRODUCT ON THEIR SHOW, THAT IT WOULD LAST FOR 20 YEARS. OK 2 YEARS IS NOT 20. . NOW WE HAVE TO LISTEN TO THE NOISE OR FIND ANOTHER TV SOMEWHERE. OK, VIVITEK, YOU NEED TO STAND BY YOUR PRODUCTS YOU SELL, AS WELL AS SHOPNBC.
my dad bought a friggin vivitek tv after i told him it got a ton of bad reviews.
we have to replace the bulb every 2 months,
and now i think the ballast is gone bad and cant find one anywhere.
ugh never again will i own anything vivitek
I too have a Vivitek 56". I actually purchased it from a friend in need, who had just purchased it from shopnbc. I actually had a Hitachi 60" that was 12 years old at the time. Never, ever had a problem with it. I figured it was probably time for a new tv. I thought that my Hitachi would probably be going out soon. I traded it to my friend along with cash, for this new Vivitek. It is less than a year old when, it started to flicker with black and white lines across it. I just replaced the lamp at a cost of $175. It worked fine for a couple of days, then it started doing it again. You can watch it for about 5-10 minutes then it starts to flicker again. Thank God, I'm not epileptic or I'm sure it would cause full blown seizures. So, I find out that it is the optical module that needs to be replaced. My local repair man, of course, does not have one and can not get one. Surely, can not get a live person from Vivitek . And, Vance Baldwin tells me that the part is $1197. ARE YOU KIDDING ME! I have never in my life seen such crap products or customer service. This definately should be illegal. I sent an e-mail to Vivitek today telling how disgusted I was and that everyone I knew and don't know would certainly be informed of their horrible products and non existent customer service. Of course, I will not pay to replace the part, I'm thinking the only good that will come out of this tv is target practice in the backyard! Guess this time I will definately go back to Hitachi.
To All in this thread,
I invite you yo join our fight to get Vivitek and all the rest of the corporate thieves that have ripped us off with these televisions.

Hi Fellow Screwed by General Electric,
i also have a 56 vivijunk tv. this is the second one. i bought the first one about "05. it was as you know a piece of junk. but when Dave Letterman was having a problem with his contract many years ago i remember him flashing a sign "GE Sucks". so, when i had trouble i wrote to the board of directors, presidents office, and i received all of my money back. the set, at the time,
was over a year old, but i had reported the problem in the year warrantee time spand. considereing the amount of business NBC shopping does, they didn't want a hassle with anyone.
i bought a second one for 1399. i'm having trouble again. if i don't receive satisfaction in a reasonable amount of time, then i start my email deluge again.
good luck. the board of directors who are making millions do not want to be bothered by people like you and me.
good luck. if you need more info, please email.
see ya,
frank
