You are better off going with a local consultant than with Yodel
I am an SEO expert - Yodel claims that it builds websites that are SEO friendly for their clients. If you view the Yodel website using Firefox click ctrl + U or from Internet Explorer go to the View menu and click on source - now click ctrl+F and type h1. You will see that the Yodel corporate site itself has about 5 h1 declarations in the code - the most basic BASIC SEO rule is that you should have one, yes only ONE h1 declaration per page! This is basic, basic SEO and Yodel cannot even get it right on their own site! What do you think they will do for you, a small business owner, who probably is relying on Yodel to be the expert and to guide you in building your site and performing Search Engine Optimization. This company is a joke. You are better off going with a local consultant than with Yodel. Did you notice that there is not one example of an actual website they have built and optimized on their corporate site?
Rude and Nasty
I got a phone call from this company only to be treated very rudely. I called back and was hung up on 5 times. When I called to speak to a manager I was hung up on again. Then I was called by the same guy John Benjamin and spoken to in an extremely nasty manner. Obviously, run in the opposite direction if they call you.

My name is Radley Moss and I am the Director of Corporate Communications at Yodle. Chicago Law Office - would you be open to contacting me to discuss this matter further? You can reach me at rmoss@yodle.com or [protected]. I'm disappointed to hear about your experience with Yodle. I want to get a better understanding of everything that happened to make sure that we are rectifying the issues. Thanks and hope to hear from you soon.
John Benjamin. He did not identify the company he is calling from. Asked for an attorney by his first name, claiming he is following up on previous conversation. No previous conversation has EVER happened, as his calls have never been accepted, and he has been told that we are not interested in his services. Said he has some custody matters that he can direct here to this attorney. His call was returned this morning and he was, yet again, given explicit instructions to immediately remove this phone number from his call list, and was told that he is not to call our office again. This has also been documented. Should he choose to call here again, we will notify the BBB, States Attorney, and FCC Telecommunications Consumers Division.
I received the same phone from Mr. John Benjamin from phone number [protected], called asking to speak to an attorney here by his first name. I asked him what this was in reference to and he asked if I was an attorney. I said no, so he said he couldnt tell me details of the importance of the subject matter. I told him to leave me his information. He was very rude and was rushing me to speak to the attorney. DO NOT FALL FOR HIS TACTICS! he makes it sound like he knows what he's talking about. A real phone call from court would have told me what the phone call was about. Avoid them at all costs!
Unwilling to stop billing
I would like to tell you a story about a little company I will never do business with again and would recommend you NEVER do business with either.
The name of the company is www.outrank.com and everything started off okay... I was getting a few hits, not as may as I was lead to believe, and I even got a few leads which all turned out to be duds... I have been using their service for about 90 days and just felt it was not working out for me. So I called to cancel my service with www.outrank.com and I was switched over to the account manager’s manager and he told me he would not do that... He would only allow me to have a buy on get one free for one month but he felt they had invested to much time in my account to just let it stop right now. Understand, I HAVE NO CONTRACT with www.outrank.com and I just wanted to end my services with them at this time...
When I started this web site with www.outrank.com they wanted to do a ACH withdraw from my bank and I agreed to that... But now www.outrank.com will not stop the withdraw and I called my bank to put a stop-payment on any and all withdraws from www.outrank.com.
I feel that www.outrank.com has turned into a scam and I would warn anyone against using their services... If you see this number calling you, [protected], beware. I feel they are a scam company and have forgotten that the customer is KING and I will have the last word...
Outrank.com is a ProfitFuel brand. Located at 9300 United Dr, Suite 180, Austin, Texas 78758.
I understand I am just a little ole guy in a big sea, but I do have a big voice and will tell everyone I know about what I like and dislike... And I say www.outrank.com is not a good company to do business with... Beware, you have been told about this... Don't fall into the trap
I also had a problem with them paid two months up front to get the "discount" rate of 145 month. The sales guy told me I would really get the phone ringing and should have a few customers before the renewal time at 60 days. They used a simple template website put up some info stating services that I don't give. I asked them to take that off they were very slow to do anything like that and for some reason didn't want to promote the primary services we offer. In the about me section they pasted a testimonial letter one of my customers sent me, I though that would go in a testimonial area. Well at 60 days I didn't get any customers and they re-billed me I called and questioned this thinking I shouldn't be billed again yet. The guy I spoke with said I was ranking for some keywords though it was the full website name and a few random keywords. I told him it's not working and I can't continue to pay for something that generates no return, He said he understands and would get them to do some things to get it ranking better. I still didn't get any calls. They tried to bill yet again, I told them I can't pay until they get me a result. They told me I have to give 30 days before I can quit the service and apparently the previous month telling the guy I won't continue to pay wasn't good enough. I said I can't do it, the girl offered to give me this mo. free but then bill me at the end. I said no thanks I have to get a result and then I can pay. She was pretty nice about it, but did mention something about possible collections, and I mentioned getting legal involved if I needed to. The whole 3 months I received a total 4 calls from the number the gave me 2 were some weird thing from ATT, 1 was a guy trying to sell me something, the other was someone asking for a service we don't provide. I don't know this is really a scam but I think it the salesmen over sold it and suggest things that aren't really true. Maybe it works for some people, but it didn't work for me.
Totally agree...SCAM artists...thieves! If you notice...they bill your account for 2 months service the same day you sign up...in our case $145.00 X 2 and that should have set off an alarm... They fool around and delay any way they can; ask for the same information over and over again. That we had all ready sent...and Natalie Lerner was our service manager. Never could reach her...she would never make the changes and when she did...she couldn't spell correctly. I complained and complained to her but she insisted she wasn't doing anything wrong.
They dinged the bank account again and still no service. We had to delete the card and get a new one to keep them from getting more money. Our bank called them and asked for them to refund us our money...as we had a paper trail of emails, but the guy said, 'NO." Told her that they had to be notified 30 days in advance if you wanted to discontinue. Really? I don't think so!
Don't even bother with these thieves. Unless you have money to lose. Will take a loss on income tax for services not rendered in advertising. Good Luck out there...and if you can think of anything else...please post. I am going to file a complaint with the Better Business Bureau in their town in Texas. So should everyone on here...
I agree wholeheartedly! I have been able to produce better results on my own than Outrank.com, who is supposed to be a professional internet marketing company. Don't waste your time or your money on them. They will produce a crappy little, unprofessional looking website with a totally different telephone number on it than the one you use for your business. When I asked them to send me the stats on the number of hits I've gotten on their website, they told me that the way the rank the site is by how many phone calls they've received through the site. I said "Okay, how many phone calls have we had on the site?" You could hear her hesitate and almost groan on the other end of the phone. She said "well, unfortunately, it appears that we've only had 1." My response was - yeah, that was me calling the site to see how it functions. DON'T WASTE YOUR MONEY ON THESE OUTRANK.COM A-HOLES! You'd be better off flushing the money down the toilet -at least you would have no illusions about what you are getting for your money!
out rank is a rip! They lie they steal your money and they refuse to quit billing your credit card even if they say they will . what kind of company does that ? It is pissing me off so bad you can't even imagine. I am heading to my bank right now to stop the with draws on my account and heading straight over to the court to file suit ! This is an outrage! try calling the number and you get nothing. I should have researched them better but they made so many promises in December and now after six months of so called service and almost one thousand dollars out of my account . I have had less than ten calls total and most from the same person! pay per click would have been much cheaper! My advise is" run "when you are approached by them ! I wish I new how to post this on a main page so I could warn others so they don't get scammed!

Misleading information
Outrank.com does SEO for businesses and I signed up on the terms it is a month to month basis, I was told I could change my payment method at any time, when I call to do so, and advise them that I want to be billed and not have them automatically deduct the funds from my account they said they would take care of it, however they deducted the funds anyway from my account and when I called in to ask where the miscommunication was they said they do not offer billing that there has to be a payment on file, I spoke with the supervisor after the customer service rep (Camille) said 'This isn't Mcdonalds... we don't offer that' and he told me my website was 'junk' that he needed to listen to the recordings to find out what happened, I received a call back after he listened, he apologized, advised me that I was right and to make it right they were offering me discounted services... BUT NO REFUND! DO NOT GIVE THEM ACCESS TO YOUR BANK ACCT! I know have a dispute open with my bank and it has been a huge hassle!
I contacted the Director of Client Services through Profitfuel.com, which is who owns Outrank.com, I must say that they took my complaint and situation seriously. Not only did they reimburse the funds that were directly taken out of my account, they covered my bank fees and gave me a month of free service. Normally when this kind of thing happens with any company, The key to solving the problem is going through the chain of command and speaking to someone on a corporate level, I do not know anyone that puts the dedication and work it takes to build a company allow or promote this type of behavior- More than likely (and in this case) they were not aware of it. If you advise them of the problem and still nothing is handled then obviously this would not be the case, however, in my case it was handled immediately and I was pleased with the level of attention my complaint was given on a corporate level. I felt I should share the outcome of my situation, because the problem was fixed to my satisfaction and it has restored my faith in Outrank.com

To Renee111 - Call your credit card company right now! They will TAKE the money back from outrank.com and give it back to you, crediting your charge card. Tell them the item you bought was not as described and you want your money back. I have instructed my client to do the same. If enough people do this, their merchant account will be shut down due to high level of charge backs and complaints against them, not to mention the multiple charge back fees they will have to pay to their bank and pay processor. Then make an internet fraud complaint to the FBI.

When Outrank is recruiting you, you are told that they will not bill you until they get you listed on the "big' 3 search engines: Google, Bing, and Yahoo. Small business owners STAY AWAY, Yodle will have there ### ponds cold call you and all your competitors (in the same field) and tell all of you the same crap. They charge you an arm and a leg for some you can do EASILY all by your self on google. They throw all this SEO garbage at you hoping that you dont know anything about it, and its all false. They will tell you that they have some kind of bull sh** science to getting you on the top of google but all there doing is setting up a pay per click ad for you, something that you can do very easily and cost effectively on your own. Not only do they only do that for you, they dont even do a half way decent job at it, I own my own junk removal company and every call i got coming from my yodle ad scheme was absolutely horrible, most of the calls werent even for what we do, Yodle doesnt even care enough to give you viable key words, i had people calling me everyday asking for car parts and repair, i mean come on this is a junk removal company it cant be that hard to give us key words. And there customer service is horrible, i would call at least twice a day to tell them the leads were horrible and that something needed to change, but of course they would give me the run around and nothing would ever change. Worst money I have ever spent for my business, but i did learn a lot from it. If you read this and your curious about google adwords just check it out, its so simple a monkey could do it, and its not even a quarter of the price those jokers at yodle charge. HORRIBLE COMPANY...HACKS

Hi – Thanks for posting this review. My name is Kara and I work for Yodle. We take the experience of all our customers very seriously and appreciate getting feedback so we can improve as a company. I wanted to address some of the things you mentioned in your comment and see if we can connect to work this out.
Since I don’t know your name, the name of your company, whether you are a current client, or which product(s) of ours you used, I can’t speak to the specifics of your account; however, there are a few general things I can address. Yodle offers both paid search marketing, with Yodle Sponsored, and search engine optimization, with Yodle Organic. Yodle Sponsored concentrates on delivering clients immediate leads and ROI, whereas Yodle Organic concentrates on optimizing clients’ sites for organic traffic. Depending on which product you used, Yodle would have employed different advertising techniques, although with both products it is our goal to get you good calls. That said, we do rely, in part, on feedback and ratings from our customers, through the Yodle live platform, to optimize calls and email inquiries for maximum quality.
One can definitely do online advertising through Google on their own, and doing so is a viable option for many business owners. Still, the reason so many small businesses work with a company like Yodle is that we are experts in online advertising and we handle the often time consuming process of managing online campaigns, enabling small business owners – from dental offices to law offices to junk removal businesses - to focus on the operations of their business – not on online advertising.
Like I said above, I’d be happy to speak with you about this and any other issues you may have had with our services. You can call me or email me to discuss. My phone number is [protected] or email ksilvermanyodlecom
Based solely on the grammatical errors found within your complaint, I can't imagine that your junk removal business was "thriving" before Yodle came into the picture. Hindsight is 20-20, and any advertising investment carries a risk of not producing revenue. I'm sure the Yodle Sales team didn't tell you they were guaranteeing you any amount of revenue, right?
Perhaps you should research your business investments more deeply in the future. If you could have done their service on your own (as you claim), why did you shell out the money to them in the first place?
Marketing Scam
Any businesses out there looking to increase their sales should STEER TOTALLY CLEAR OF THIS COMPANY!. They make promises that they can't deliver. They cite 25-40% increase in phone traffic due to better positioning while a potential customer does a Google search looking for (in our case) air conditioning repair.
They took our money promising the website would be up and running in a week. A month later after they kept forcing my calls to voicemail, I threatened to charge back the credit card and I finally got their attention. I was told then they had a system error which prevented them from loading my website. Eventually they got it up and running but only AFTER the air conditioning season had ended.
Bottom line: I received 19 calls over the 3 month period and none of them resulted in us selling an air conditioning unit. Most calls were people who were looking for employment. There were some service calls resulting in less than $200.00 in revenue when I had to pay $2250.00 to be in this scammed program. They promise a speedy response to all issues in 72 hours. The reality is, if you threaten a chargeback on your credit card, then they will call you back in 72 hours. They also advertise a marketing specialist who is expert at online advertising and will continually improve the performance of your online marketing campaign. That individual NEVER called even once to tweak the program. In fact, I was shuttled off to other representatives when I called to complain.
Save your money... you are better off giving it to your kids or your ex-wife, because at least you know where it went. If enough people complain and report them to the appropriate agencies or if enough people post their discontent with their practices, they will have no other choice but to shut down.
***UPDATED*** Right after I sent an email to their CEO, Mr. Cunningham, and posted this complaint online, I shockingly received a phone call from Chris Hodgens from their Charlotte office. He wanted more information and as a peace offering, offered to refund about $900.00 of our unused balance in our account. I was truly stunned to hear from them at all figuring the company lacked integrity and was only out to grab the money and run. I was mistaken... in the end they did show some integrity by jumping into the fire with me and making a peace offering which was more than I expected. No company should ever have to pay for a service and then have to fight to get that service, but this company has more integrity than I thought. Kudos to Chris... JCP3006

Very poor business choice for me and I cannot recommend them to anyone
I have to join with the others who were woefully disappointed and wished they could cancel their contract. When you enroll in their program, you must sign a 3-month contract. If their performance is poor, they will NOT let you out early.
When I talked to their sales rep, I liked the concept: their computer algorithm will optimize the bid position and amount and even search engine for your internet cost per click advertising. I understood that Yodle would mark up each click, but the rep assured me that the efficiency of their system would still result in cost savings. When I was talking to the sales rep, I asked what the mark-up was, but he said it was too complicated to figure out. That should have been a warning. I was thinking they would charge a 10 to 20% mark-up, not a 400% to 500% markup.
In my case, I started with $1, 000 per month, which was about 1/5 my normal budget. Because Yodle was to supplant my own AdWords, Yahoo and MSN efforts, I felt a little nervous about underfunding the program and so voluntarily increased the first month's budget to $3, 000. My average cost per click went from $0.81 when I managed it myself, to about $4.00 under Yodle. I then lowered my commitment to the contractually required $1, 000 my second month. The second month saw minimal improvement in efficiency, to about $3.75.
I tried to cancel but they would not let me out. They said they had the 3-month contract so that their algorithm had an opportunity to optimize the ideal position and search engine. I retorted that I had already spent $4, 000, which was $1, 000 more than the contract called for, and that their computer should learn by the number of clicks rather than by time, but to no avail.
The one nice thing I can say is that the advertising rep (different from the sales rep) with whom I worked was very nice and did try her best to get results. However, the results were just atrocious. I learned, to my dismay, just how many of my existing customers look up my contact information through cost per click...at $4 per call, this was quite annoying. And like the others in this review, I got calls from those trying to sell me things and those looking for a job.
All in all, Yodle was a very poor business choice for me and I cannot recommend them to anyone.
Ad not searchable, usless service
We signed on with Outrank.com for a trail of 60 days. The ad only showed up on Google and only if you were to search for a certain phrase. We run a locksmith company, I called them once concerned about the ad because it contained a name of another company in the same town as part of the search, and we could not find the ad. We did locate it on the 5th page of Google Maps. Outrank told me to search for "Arlington Lock", this is the only way the ad could be found. I don't know of nayone looking for a locksmith in Arlington who would just type in "Arlington Lock" people searching for a locksmith, type in locksmith not lock.
We received zero (0) calls from the ad during the 60 days. Just prior to the end of the trail and before the next billing I asked Outrank to cancel the service as it was not search-able and had resulted in zero (0) calls. They said they would cancel the service and we would be billed for the next month of service.
Outrank.com is a total scam or as close to one as you can get. They did not provide the service they tell you the provide. They charge you for two months up front for nothing and then bill an extra month to get more money. They are a useless ad service.
Outrank.com or localoutrank is a scam. If they can guarantee that you will show up on the first page of Google and Bing, they why don't they show up on the first page of Google and Bing? One would think that they would take the opportunity to demonstrate what they are selling. Why does Outrank.com have a duplicate site such as localoutrank? I am tired of these online scam artists. It cost my companies $thousands$ of dollars until I got wise and became educated. They won't stop calling you; however, make them put everything in writing and what keywords they will be utilizing to put you on the first page of Google and/Bing, etc. Get in writing a projection of calls and clicks that they expect you to receive. Don't buy the hype of how Google or Bing will only let them represent three companies in your trade, i.e. three landscape companies in the Baltimore area. There are thousands of landscape companies in the Baltimore area and Google is only going to let them promote three. Unless Dan Google calls you himself I would look for a reputable company, not one where you can't walk into there office. I was just ripped off on a web-design company, that was based out of Brazil, that I over-paid for incomplete design and hosting and who made claims of a similar advertising campaign that these hacks are utilizing. My new designer has an office less than two miles from my business, which means that I won't waste a lot of fuel when I run my diesel truck through the front of his office window. LOL. I would recommend putting all of your account payables on a fraud protected credit card, so that you can stop and dispute payment. Let the Credit Card Attorney's work for you, for that's why they make the big bucks. Good Luck. Don't let your small business get preyed upon. Below is the name of that Walt Disney Puppet who lost his cricket friend...hopefully he'll let his conscience be his guide and stop calling us and hopefully won't be calling you.

Deceptive Practices
I should have read all the warnings before I got involved in this scam. They promise you front page optimization for your website. They set up a cheesy .org website and place it on first page of bing, yahoo and never got me on google, as promised. You have to enter a very specific search term to find your "so called website" on yahoo. When you want to cancel, forget it. They never return phone calls or respond to e-mails. The only way I got them to call was to leave a message that I wanted to enhance my service.

RIPOFF
This company is a rip-off and you would be best served by steering way clear of them. They design a sub-standard website and then do only a precursory level of search engine optimization on less than optimal search terms. They, in fact, only SEO one search term that is, again, not the ideal search term for the website in question. For instance, for a heating and air conditioning installation, repair and service company they SEO'd the search phrase "HVAC Contractor" which no one in their right mind would type into Google if they wanted Air Conditioning repair for example.
They don't even include any meta tag or alt text which are crucial to search engine optimization. They also made no effort to create a "robots.txt" file or a xml sitemap, also crucial for effective SEO. Skip these guys. Second rate SEO would actually be preferable to outrank.com

Stay away, they will sell you specific key words and eventually they will place you on something completely different, then when you ask for explanation they will refuse to answer all or any of your questions. At the begging they will record an agreement that they read to you at the sign up and when you ask to review the recording they tell you that i...

Just like others discovered Yodle was a complete ripoff. Excellent sales skills to suck you in, followed with inept marketing staff that was supposed to generate phone calls through web clicks in my local area. They did move my adwords ads to the top of the list in the cities I was targeting and soon discovered it was done by bidding $10.00 per click for $3.50 per click average on my own. No magic there as I could do the same by bidding less than half that. The sales pitch was with their volume sales discount through Google they could deliver clicks/calls for less than I was paying... Lots of emails back and forth resulted in nothing more than suggesting I give them more money and time to see it work...
No reply to my suggestion they credit me for a month to prove it works.
Got a note confirming my contract was completed and have filed it since they even managed to charge the card they had on file that had expired. That was refunded without contacting the credit card company.

Hi pressure sales. All types of angles attempted. Was told it would be 5 to 10 minutes, ended up going well over an hour. Tried to get off the phone with them. Should have hung up. After an hour and 20 minutes finally did. Kept telling him was not going to pay anything, needed to finish the call, etc. etc., and he said he understood and would let me go but kept on talking. I felt abused afterwords and stupid for staying on the line trying to be polite. Will never use them.
Yep same thing I had it in writing average click fee of $4.50 they were chargeing me 2- 3 even 4 times as much, My money was gone in two weeks and they wanted moore I said hell no!
Told them to Cancel the contract they tried to keep me too it but I unauthorized them from charging my card and thank god I had the click fee in writing They did not have a leg to stand on Besides they knew what they were doing they surely were not going to expose themselves in a legal battle over a few thousands bucks STAY AWAY!
i got ripped off too.
1000 plus dollars and not one actual lead.
con artists.
Very Poor Performance and Customer Service
DON'T DO IT
They claimed to be able to restrict displays to ISP's withing a 25 mile radius of our location in their sales presentationand they demonstrated a competitor's Yodle account showing that it was costing them $25 per call, saying that this was typical.
The ability to limit clicks geographically was essential as we are a local service company. The cost was critical since our average revenue per call is under $200 and profit averaging less than $75.
From the get-go fully 1/3 of the paid clicks were coming from outside our area, our state, and even out of the country. When I tried to contact our account manager about this he didn't respond for two weeks and I finally had to email the sales guy. They said that they could fix the problem, but the same thing continued for three months with and the cost per call averaged $95.
I wrote them to cancel the agreement (you are locked into the 1st 3 months and then they said it was month to month), but received no response and then they again charged my credit card! It is now in dispute.
These guys just collect your money and do nothing to manage the account to your benefit. They sell the same service to other similar companies in your area/business which drives up the cost per click since they have dramatically increased the demand. They really don't care about performing for the client.

Yodle steals your money and runs
Yodle is a flat out scam. They tell you anything to get your account info then they just keep billing your bank without permission again and again. They are a rip off. They make their scam sound so good and once they get your money they run like hell. Business owners.. please dont fall for their scam. They wont do one thing they promise and you will be out every dime you let them steal from you. PS they claim to be the sister company of Google ... they are not.

I too was scammed by Yodle. I was given the whole spiel on their advertisement and it sounded great. I normally do a google search on companies for scams, but they did not want me to get off the phone and said this was a one time offer. I gave an initial authorized payment of $74 to build my web site and they would contact me when it was done so I can proof read it. Three weeks later not a word from them but I found they charged my account $1, 500.00 more! Called them several times and the person I needed to talk to was not available. I did not authorize this amount. I had to call my bank and dispute it and close my account. They need to be taken down.
Yodle is a ripoff scam
Yodle harassed me day after day by cold calling my small business telling me they were affiliated with Google and my business couldnt afford not to have an internet campaign that would bring me so much new business. Their bull sht sounded so good I gave my credit card # and the have charged me over 1500.00, built a cheap cookie cutter web site and I havent...

I was guaranteed better ad performance, more clicks turning into phone calls, and spending less money and getting more phone calls and leads. After one week, half of my monthly budget is somehow gone already. On top of that my number of phone calls per day went down to none almost. I got a total of 4 calls since I signed up beginning of June. I get 4 to 10...
