This website's return policy and customer service are not good. They say it's easy to return items within 30 days, but it's actually really hard. You have to pay for shipping and it's all your responsibility. It's better to buy from somewhere else. Here are the rules for returning items: You have to return the item in the original packaging with all the instructions and inserts, and it has to be in perfect condition. You can't return it if you've installed it or changed it from the way it was when you got it. Here are the other rules: 1. You have to return it within 14 days of getting an email from them. If you got free shipping, they'll take out the cost of shipping from your refund. 2. You have to pay for shipping and any other fees for returning it. 3. You have to have insurance and a tracking number to make sure it gets back safely. You have to send them the tracking number. 4. You have to print out the email they sent you and say why you're returning it. 5. You have to write the reference number on the shipping label, but don't write anything else on the box.

I've been shopping online for over 10 years and never had to give tracking info for a return. The email they sent me on June 17 was super aggressive and threatening. Most online stores in 2022 give free shipping and returns, but I had to pay over $60 to send back some bath mats. I got two colors to see which one would look better in my bathroom and kept the one I liked. The color I sent back was supposed to be the same as the one on the website, but it wasn't. One was grey and the other was heathered. I wouldn't order from them again 'cause of all this.
I ordered a $500 chair that said it would be 3-5 day shipping when I was checking out. Shortly after I was charged in full for the order, I received a new email saying it would now be shipped August 5th (I ordered the chair June 7th). Yesterday I received another email saying shipping is now pushed back another week. I ordered this chair for our nursery, and am afraid the due date will now come before the chair even arrives. I reached out to customer service via their website, who gave me a canned response saying it isn't their fault and covid has impacted orders. I've ordered multiple other pieces of furniture during covid from other sites, not a single one of them had this issue. I asked a follow up question to customer support to try and resolve this and never heard back. I've now reached out directly to the CEO and Founder, ***, but honestly I don't expect to hear back from him either, based on the other reviews I've read. Just a poor way to do business in general, and a quick way to lose potential repeat customers.
I placed an order and when it arrived, two of the boxes had broken dishes and bakeware. When I called customer service, they were extremely rude to me and wouldn't even process my return. The second representative hung up on me and he is supposed to be the supervisor. I am still waiting to see if they will even provide me with return labels, etc. They said they could only help me if I emailed them. What does customer service do then? Worst customer service ever. I have no idea how they can have an A on ComplaintsBoard.com. Won't order from them again! However, one order ($8,297 before tax or shipping) has not arrived in a timely manner--in fact, it has been so delayed that I no longer have a need for the furniture ordered. The return options that I have been offered are grossly unsatisfactory and contrary to the spirit the company publicly alleges to embrace in the wake of the present pandemic. I placed my order on July 7, choosing these three items specifically because the 2Modern website designated each of them as an item that "Ships in 1-3 business days." I had read CEO *** "Personal Note From ***, Our CEO," regarding potential COVID-19-related delays, in which he falsely claims, "In the event of an order delay, we are fully committed to communicating that update, as timely as possible." That seemed reasonable, and I would have been happy to receive such communication. But I did not. Instead I received my shipping confirmation email 11 days after my order, on July 16. Even at this point, though frustrated, I was content to chalk up the lack of communication to the myriad stresses of the pandemic, and eagerly awaited further news. Today, August 13, I am still unable to schedule the delivery of the furniture I no longer need. The freight carrier's website suggests a future window will be available at an indeterminate future time, somewhere in the range of 6 to 12 days. I called 2Modern Customer Service today, and, after a brief hold, was connected to Catherine, to whom I explained the situation and told I would like to cancel my order. She informed me that at this stage I would have to return the products, as they were still in the process of being delivered. She warned me me that that would be "very expensive," which felt slightly condescending. When I asked her to confirm what she was telling me--that 2Modern would charge me the $800+ cost of shipping the furniture that has not arrived to me, and that I would then have to make my own shipping arrangements to return the furniture at a significantly higher cost than that as a retail freight customer--she replied, "I'm not sure what you want." Though frustrated, I politely responded that I wanted to register my irritation with being told that I would be charged $2,000+ for the return of furniture I have not received, despite it being advertised as shipping in 1-3 business days. I told her that this was especially frustrating in my own case because I am expecting a baby in the next 10 days, and will not be available to accept furniture delivery during an offered window 43-50 days after placing my order. She then offered a tepid acknowledgment and told me that freight companies are backed up with deliveries because of COVID-19, casting any blame away from 2Modern itself. I believe *** that this delay may indeed be caused by the freight company 2Modern contracts, but I nonetheless find a delay of such magnitude, coupled with the lack of promised communication from 2Modern, utterly unacceptable, and I am angry to be forced to choose between losing $2,000+ plus the value of my time to the return process or arranging to receive three large items of furniture I no longer need during the key first days of my firstborn child's life. I thanked *** for her time, despite my dissatisfaction with the outcome of our conversation. I had been happy to support a company based, like me, here in Marin, whose ethos and story I admired and whose CEO's response to the COVID-19 crisis seemed heartfelt and reasonable. I remain open to discussing possible solutions to my current situation, but until such time will direct my business--and that of any friend who asks me--elsewhere.

I got a lantern from this company on June 29, 2022, but the payment went to Carve Media instead of 2Modern. The product was packed poorly and arrived broken. I contacted them on July 8, 2022, and they blamed supply chain issues and said they would review my request. After that, I got automated messages every few weeks about shipping delays, but no response to my follow-up emails on July 12th and 14th. They didn't start a replacement or compensation process. I had to dispute the purchase with my credit card company, and they threatened me and canceled my purchase. I was out of my money for almost two months without any compensation. This business is a scam and needs to be investigated. They pretend to be a home goods store, but they just take people's money and use unfair and deceptive means to avoid responsibility.

The absolute worst. They say every piece is "custom" when really it's just a color choice and then they do not accept returns. The customer service people are rude and I really wish I had read this before placing my order or I would have NEVER ordered from here.

Horrible company
Horrible company. I asked to cancel my order and the first person helped me with that. Then I get an email that the item was shipped, but did not receive a confirmation number. I asked for the number and they gave me a fake number and said it would take several days for UPS to register it. I have never experienced that with any other company online. The fact that they said they canceled my order then shipped it and lied to me by giving me a confirmation number that doesn't work is offensive. Avoid this company.

AWFUL company! I purchased a table and 6 chairs from them spending over $4,000 dollars. One week after receiving them, one of the chairs had a stain that would not come off, I followed the companys cleaning instructions and it didnt come off, I told them I wanted to return them and they said that since I did not have the original packaging I could not/ even though they advertise that they deliver and place the furniture where you want and remove the packaging! Ive ordered furniture from so many different places and have always had the companies stand behind their products- but not this one! They are a scam! I wish I had read their reviews before making my purchase!

I would like to warn customers. My husband and I had a horrible experience with 2Modern. We ordered a bed, were told on the website that it would ship within a few days and immediately got an update with an estimated shipping date a month out. I called the company to state that I think that the company should warn customers as they clearly know there are delays. I received a snippy response. I sent an email stating the same. I received a response that basically said, 'take it or leave it". When the delayed shipping date came, we did not receive any information. We called again, only to hear that they don't even know when we would get our bed for which we had by then paid a month ago. I voiced my concern and dissatisfaction and was promised an email that same day with an updated shipping date. I did not receive the email. I called again the next day and was told, "Any day now. we are close". I asked for an email which said the same. Days later we still had not received any update. I called again and received another snarky response saying. I then cancelled the order. I felt treated badly the whole time and I feel that the company took advantage of us.

I buyed a heart vase (order #***) in August from 2Modern.com. It's already October 27 and I still haven't got it. They keep saying it's delayed. I want my vase or my cash back. I call them and they just say to wait for an email. Then I email them and no answer.

But then I got an email saying it would come on Aug 13 cuz of the pandemic. I waited but didn't get the tracking # so I called on Aug 19. They said it still didn't ship but would in 2-3 b days. Then I got another email saying it would come on Aug 25. I called to ask why and they said they'd contact the supplier and send me a tracking #. But then I got another email saying it would come on Sep 1. I tried to complain but the "customer support" said it would come in 1-2 b days. They just keep saying that to keep me hoping but they don't really know when it will come. I ordered the same armchairs from Wayfair and got them in a week.

I never had worse customer service in my life. I called three times and nobody picked up the phone. Finally, I got a live person who transferred me to customer service. Brian answered and was very rude. I told him that the "stone coffee table" was misleading because I received a plastic footrest. He interrupted me and yelled at me to "shut up and listen." I hung up. I called back and got transferred to the customer service manager who argued with me and said I was rude to Brian. She didn't hear the call but said Brian told her what happened. She wasn't friendly and didn't want to help. I asked to speak to the president, but they refused. This company has the worst customer service skills and personnel.

This company is a scam with their return policy. We had a problem with a chandelier that didn't match the pictures, so we returned it. They charged us $293 for return shipping, which was more than the chandelier cost. The manager was unprofessional and defensive, and didn't help us. She promised a 20% refund, but never called us back. When we called her, she accused us of being rude and said she couldn't refund us.
