Great service call by ***. He fully explained what he found, complete with pictures. The technician was really nice and he took the time to answer all my questions. He fixed the problem quickly and now my AC is working perfectly. I'm really happy with the service I received from Acosta Heating, Cooling & Electrical. They are reliable and professional. I highly recommend them for all your heating, cooling, and electrical needs.

I paid $2500 for plenum boxes and a filter I now have to climb into the attic to replace at a cost of about $30 to $40 a filter every 3 months - after Acosta's personnel assured this repair would eliminate my problem. It has not. Acosta returned several more times only to give me new reasons for the problem they said my original $2500 was to resolve. I really needed Acosta to help me as I explained I didn't have $2500 to give away and continue to have a very unhealthy and safety risk problem in my home. Acosta has refused to make this right.

An employee at the company signed me up for a maintenance plan after I declined the plan. Acosta Heating and Cooling has done some sneaky sales stuff. On March 8, a service guy from Acosta came to check on my HVAC system that was put in by someone else a year ago. At the end of the visit, the guy tried to sell me a maintenance plan for both of my HVAC systems for "$32.18 only." But he didn't say that it was a monthly fee, he made it sound like a one-time thing. I said no to the plan. I even wrote on their form that I don't want it and signed it. Then on March 13, I got an email invoice from Acosta telling me to pay $438.66 for two yearly memberships for the maintenance plan. (By the way, the invoice said it was from March 1, which was weird.) The email had a link to pay online. Someone at Acosta signed me up for the maintenance plan even though I clearly said no in writing. I emailed Acosta on March 13, to tell them that I never signed up for the maintenance plan. I asked them to confirm that they got my email and are taking me off the plan. But nobody has gotten back to me or tried to fix this.

The maintenance guy told me that I needed to replace two capacitors in my heating/air conditioning units because they were running low. They wanted to charge me a whopping $681, plus tax, just to replace these two things. Can you believe it? I checked on Amazon and these devices only cost $16 each, or $32 in total. I had a long discussion with the boss, trying to make them see how ridiculous this price difference was. I even offered to pay $50 for each capacitor, but the best they could do was knock off $50 from the total. They said I was paying for their expertise in figuring out the problem, but I already paid for the maintenance call which included their so-called expertise. They wanted to charge me an extra $681 for something that anyone can do by watching a YouTube video. The furnaces had notes next to the capacitors saying they were installed in April . These units are supposed to be under warranty for 5 years according to the manufacturer's website, so how could they be "low"? There were no visible signs of damage on the capacitors like bulging or anything. They showed me a photo of some meter reading, but it was like gibberish to me. My complaint is that their main goal was to come in, analyze the situation, and then create a need for an extra repair, for which the technician just happened to have the two devices in his backpack! Charging $681 for something that costs $32 (at retail price!) is not just outrageous, it's downright criminal. Their sneaky sales and service tactics, along with their ridiculously overpriced products, are just plain wrong. By the way, I spent $175 to have a local handyman install these units.

They said it might take a day for a technician to come, but I didn't think of calling another company. I've always had good service from Acosta for the past 5 years. The next morning, the technician arrived and said the blower motor was defective and would cost $1300 to replace. The part was covered by warranty, but the labor would be around $800. I agreed to the repair because of their past good service. When the technician returned with the part, it only took him 45 minutes to install it. That's when I started to worry because it seemed like a lot of money for such a short job. I called Acosta's office and spoke to a nice customer service representative. She explained that the charge was based on a national average of $2000 for the job, minus $1300 for the part. I asked for more details and wanted to escalate the issue. She said the Service Manager would call me within 24 hours. Since it was a Friday afternoon, I decided to wait until the next business day. But by December 21st, I still hadn't heard anything, so I contacted the owner, Lauren. She had the service manager call me back on December 23rd. All he offered was to waive the $99 diagnostic fee. I asked for the part number of the motor they replaced, and they emailed me on December 23rd with the number 33W12 (Lennox). I found the same part on other websites for $600. If they had told me the actual price, I would have gotten another quote because their labor cost more than the part itself. My research shows that the average rate is $75 - $125 per hour, and the job usually takes between 1.5 and 2.5 hours, including diagnosis, installation, and testing.
