scheduling and work/life balance
Since the acquisition of the Steelwave account here in Thousand Oaks, CA in late November 2018, the Oxnard, CA branch of Allied Universal has repeatedly scheduled officers to work mandatory 6-day work weeks, as well as mandatory overtime if someone doesn't show up for duty. This is being done on an ongoing basis, and there is no work or life balance.
The managers in the Oxnard, CA branch never even inquired as to how much of an inconvenience or hardship this might pose to some officers...they just arbitrarily push us too hard, thus compromising our ability to be productive.
poor management and ethical treatment of employees
I have never worked for a company who treats their loyal employees like a number. Allied Barton was a great company who cared about their employees. Jan 2018 after the merger with Universal protection. This company adopted the maltreatment of california policies to its employees. If you like being treated poorly, being feed empty promises, shady account managers, and eager to fire califonia polices attitude. Then this company is for you.
former employee
My name is Kiara Harris I was falsely accused of sleeping on the site on 11/27/18' a client said I was asleep from 5:30AM-6:30AM I know this is inaccurate info because a former employee had just left @530 and also I get off @7 so they had no sufficient evidence that the claims stated were true. Also went into office as stated from supervisor Al. Thompson that Mark Brooks wanted me into the office. I came into the office on 11/30/18 around noonish-1:00pm he wasn't in office asked Receptionist when he would be in she stated she didn't know I tried calling Me Brooks no answer even sent text messages as a well as emails no response. I text from a new # he responds then when I state who I was had no response until today 12/12/18' and accused me of not coming into work when I had constantly been trying to reach him and also still has yet to even tell me why I was fired! I still have my uniform!
Mark Brooks was my former supervisor. He is very unprofessional and not Supervisor material. I was the security Supervisor working under his management for 6 months and it was the worst experience in all of my work history. I was told I would be put on another work site after being let go from Dhl then they lied stating that I walked off the job so they wouldn't hve to pay unemployment benefits. I'm still fighting this case because I hve alot of evidence to back me up.
unprofessionalism and misconduct
I am submitting this complaint, because I believe this supervisor shouldn't be in this position. Multiple times I have confertations with this employee. I complained about this employee once before and she confronted me about it because I didn't notify her. I did not feel comfortable to talk to her about her situation as so I felt harassed to why I reported...

Hello, I'm Security Officer Whitney Bivens and I have been working for Allied Universal/Barton for about four years. I like my job and know it well. Recently our previous supervisor got a promotion and has left my site (BriovaRx/ Optum/ United Health Group). When he got his promotion and switched jobs, our local branch brought in a man by the name Doug Ford. They rushed him though the hiring process and gave him the job of site supervisor at UHG. They gave it to him without even posting a job listing or asking if anyone that currently works at the site if the wanted the job or not. Doug Ford did 40 hours of training and didn't learn anything. In fact he makes me do his job for him... Come to find out he is related to Allied Universal's hiring manager Lisa at our local office in Louisville KY. And he is best friends with Eddie for the past 20+ years. If the circumstances were different, I'd feel comfortable about reporting him to our local office. Apart from me feeling slighted for a job I know I can do. Doug Ford has other disturbing issues. Doug Ford needs anger management. He is constantly using profanity in BriovaRx's office environment site. He constantly asks me how to do things but won't listen when I try to instruct him the correct way. He either blows up at me or other officers then asks me to just do the job for him. We had a case where an employee needed assistance. When I was explaining how he could just get on our intercom system to speak to the lady to help her, he lashed out at me and said "I'm not talking to anybody"... At our site we provide the service of making badges for employees and visitors. There was a case when I was on lunch and some employees from out of town came in for a meeting. They had access approved for the building. He could not figure out how to assign them a badge. So instead of admitting that to the client, he lets them in the building unaware if the belonged or not. BriovaRx is a pharmacy and we have to go by state laws and abide by the rules in the building outlined in our post orders. The post orders state that under no circumstance are we allowed to let anyone in the building without verification that its okay to. We do this to protect the pharmacy and so BriovaRx doesn't get fined by any government agencies such as FDA. I have explained this to Doug and he give the impression that he doesn't care and that hes the boss and can do what he wants... BriovaRx is also a HIPPA building and we can not leave our computers on or desk draws unlocked unattended. Just this past Friday he left the computer screen in our lobby on unattended with live access badges on the desk while he webt to take one of his many smoke breaks. These are just a few issues I've noticed so far. Hes only been at our site for 2 weeks plus the 40 hours of training. He could care less about how to do the actual job. He's more concerned with doing AUS Core training and other training on company time. When I go on my hour lunch break which is off the clock, he calls me upwards of 4 times to ask me how to do things. And this has happened nearly everyday for the past 2 weeks... Again I'm not writing just because I feel slighted for not getting the job. I feel the way he was hired was unfair and shows nepotism within the company. I'm not looking to get anyone in trouble. I just want to point these issues out now before things get any worse. If this issue doesn't get addressed, I feel it is necessary to leave the company.
misbehaving allied universal driver
A driver in a Chevy suv with Allied Universal marking tailgated me on a two lane road in a downtown area for no reason and glared at me when she passed me after a right turn onto a four lane. License plate CA 8GRD916. I don't know if she was in a hurry to go somewhere or what, but I do not expect this behavior from a driver in a company vehicle, especially a security service company.
you should have either complained to your local police department or called the security company and registered a complaint with them I had something similar happen with me where I live with a different security company one of there guards thought he had a right to follow me on a public city owned road because as he put it "I looked suspicious" I demanded that he give me his name and his companies telephone number or I will call the local police department and file a complaint. They have now right to follow people off of their site or drive down the road like a police officer needless to say I got his name and his companies phone number and called and registered a complaint. I believe his was terminated for doing what he did.
racial targeting
There has been numerous incidents of racial targeting at the Northrop Grumman site in Lake Charles, LA. There is an employee there by the name of Edgerton, who has specifically targeted people of color who are in leadership positions to achieve a leadership role. Instances range from accusations of bullying, violations of company procedures, to even attempted assault with a vehicle. When brought to the account manager's attention, she punished these individuals without investigating any of these incidents. This makes for a very hostile workplace and needs to be corrected immediately!
security guard
I was sitting in my car in the parking lot of Walmart Galveston Texas around 10pm 10/23/2018. I was doings some work in my vehicle for about 15 minutes when the guard drove up and told me I have to leave. I question what I was doing wrong and why exactly I have to leave and told him I was just doing some work and not bothering anyone else. He told me after I said that he doesn't have to answer any of my questions and that he's writing a ticket and took pictures of me sitting in my car. I got out and asked if he was a licensed police officer and why am I getting a ticket. He said he didn't have to answer any of my questions. I asked again and this time he closed his window and drove off. So I went inside to speak to the manager and he told me to contact the guards company that is closed and they also don't have any information about the company nor a number to contact them with. So I walked back outside and he drove up again and told me that the tow truck company is on its way and I asked why and he drove off again. Since when do security guards have power to right tickets and call tow trucks on people inside the store. I was not bothering anyone and also towing a car when someone is inside the store is unacceptable and possibly illegal. I thought they were trained to contact local authorities and let them deal with anything and they are just extra eyes on the property.
human resource
I have been a employee for Allied Universal security company since August 8, 2017...I work in Nashville Ar at Tyson Food..I was told by another employee that in our anniversary of the day we get hired we are entitled to a bonus check only if you work a certain amount of hours..I went online and saw for myself that after a year of working with this company you will get a anniversary bonus check..I have ask my supervisor and she has reached out to her Boss Mr Rick Hernandez and only response that I get is he will look into it..I have even called a left a message for him and someone that works in the office in Little Rock and never gotten a called back..So if whoever gets this I would like a response back to tell me something..Thank You
more pay/harassment
The coliseum in Macon ga needs more money and paid time off. The working conditions are getting worse. The officers are harassed by the emergency management David smith. He doesn't like allied officers and has gotten 4 fired in a month. Something needs to be done now. More officers are leaving because of the pay and harassment. Our chief doesn't care more have our backs. He runs to David Smith about everything whom is not even over allied. It's is also rumors about racism. We deal with aggressive patients and we are very underpaid.
payroll
I am a current allied universal employee. I have been trying to get in contact with payroll for a week and they are eaither never in or they send my call to voicemail. They keep cutting my checks. By that I mean, I work a certain number of hours and I dont get paid for them all. This has been about the 4th or 5th time it has happened and they always question whether or not I really worked the hours that I say even after I have send in all my time sheets proving that I was there. It really sucks that we dont get paid much but yet they cant even pay you what they owe you. Thank you.
i worked from the huntsville,al office, they cheated me out of 8 hrs o.t. $168.00 i turned my uniforms in, now im taking them to small claim court, also contacted alabama dept of labor, wage and hour division they said its called WAGE THEFT. they could get a $10.000 fine, everone stay aWAY FROM THIS FRAUD COMPANY. IF YOU ARE BEING CHEATED OUT OF YOUR WAGES IN ALABAMA CONTACT THEM AT [protected] AND FILE SUIT.
I have been cheated by Allied on a number of occasions and have always had to fight to get my proper wages. Good job I get plenty of time to be on their bacjs . it was ok for a bit but has started again.
rtcsnv allied universal security's abhorrent behavior
There was an excessive force issue that occurred today (Thursday, September 27, 2018) at approximately 1632 involving my teenage son and a few Allied Universal officers located at the Bonneville Transit Center in Las Vegas, Nevada. This is a culmination of an ongoing display of excessive aggression, bullying, sexual misconduct, disrespectful mannerisms, topics and blunt disregard for the safety and well being of the community as a whole and the overall unprofessional conduct. I have a video of the incident in question and I'm requesting this situation to be investigated IMMEDIATELY. It is imperative that something be done to rectify these practices. I believe the public needs to know how our children and other patrons of the city of Las Vegas public transportation system are being misused by RTC contracted security officers. They are being paid to sexually harass patrons, bully targeted individuals at their leisure, disregard rules and regulations at their discretion and then point out policies when it fits their needs. This is a horrible company to have as the transit officers of the public transportation system in Clark County, Nevada.
harassment/collusion
My name is Zachariah Lowery and I was a Security Officer and Security Shift Supervisor for Allied at the Glatfelter plant in Spring Grove, PA. My Site Lead was Timothy Bietch. I witnessed multiple incidents where there were secrets being kept from other Officers by Tim and his replacement, Ben Rogers. Ben Rogers was brought into Glatfelter to replace Tim, but instead of telling anybody they continued to be very secretive about why he was really there. There was multiple occasions where Officers should have been fired. For example, Domic Briscoe was the 1st shift supervisor when I arrived to Glatfelter. He left the site multiple times, took the company car to Dollar General for lunch, and he never showed to work with the correct attire on for work. What happened to me was I was told by Ben Rogers that I was going to met by him and Rodney Smith, Account Manager. He said it was just to go over some changes and review what was coming up for the future, he lied. Rodney and Ben met me at Gate 5 at Glatfelter. To start, Rodney Smith was very disrespectful. He got very smart with me and all I was trying to do was talk to him. He accused me of lying about going out on patrols and told me that I needed approval for stopping MP1. I was not aware of this. As the supervisor for the shift I thought I had a right to evaluate my officers and go on a MP2 with one of them. He got very smart with me and continued to tell me how I was not ready and how I failed. He said that he invests and wants his employees to succeed. That is not how you let your employees succeed. He then went to demote me. On top of all this, Rodney and Ben made me stay 8 hours after my regular scheduled shift was over. I have never been talked to down to like this. I refused to work for someone who would talk to their employees like this. Please do something about this. This is the reason why the turnover rate is so bad for the Glatfelter site. Because there is too much collusion going on within the management. Also, Ben Rogers shared information about another Officer that should not have been told. Same with Tim. They told other Officers multiple things about each other and most things they said were not pleasant. Please do something about this. This is disgusting how Rodney and Tim treat their employees. Thank you for your time.
security
I was a new hire to this company went to both oriataions went the next day to start training and julie farmer my boss said there a problem wuth ur shirt it has a wrinkle so she sends me back home 40 mins away then she started laying to ger boss when i call and told thwm what went on say sge massage me to come in the next day but she didnt i had my text asking what time to be in with no reply from her abd this morning i was sopost to be payed did not get payed had to call her boss to find out y he said i hcg ad to call her so i did she proceed to get smart with me and hung up so i called jessie back told him what went on and they put it in for me to get paied this company is so unprofessional do not work for them
professionalism
The Head Hr team at the Atlanta district is a joke. They have the worst customer service they break policy all the time but somehow can terminate employees for policy violation which is clearly not in the policy. The hr staff venisha needs to be investigated she knowingly allows untrained officers to access personnel files, enter government documents complete forms with other employees accreditation and turn blind eye when issues are brought to the table. The staff hrc are a great team but there leadership needs to all be one page and own up to their mistakes.
abused employee
I have been repeatedly verbally abused, talked down to, had my employment threatened, bereated, etc. by my manager. His behavior has been in direct conflict with employee training that he has instructed me to complaint; which provided me with information that his behavior flies in direct conflict with company policy. Unfortunately, I do not have access to paper reports which could provide dates of incidents. I am 62 years old and have nearly 40 years of business experience, in all that time I can honestly say that I have never been treated so disrepectfully and mean-spiritedly in my long career. My manager's name is Bill Tolley.
requested days off
My significant other has requested weekends off on a number of occasions due to wanting to spend time with his family and has been denied. Other associates haven't requested days off and are constantly getting given weekeds when they have no children to care for. Amy has chosen to give others the days he has requested knowing that he wants it off to spend some much needed time with his family.
professionalism of management
Supervisor Shauna Baldwin is having multiple inappropriate relations with staff at Milwaukee Wi Allied location. She is using company time to text, call and have relations with the security officers and having relations in her car in the parking lot. She should be reprimanded for her behavior and the unreal actions as a manager at a company like Allied.
negligence and inconsistencies
I was hired as a part time unarmed guard at the end of May. I didn't get my first training until the last week of June. Which I understood due to certain circunstances. I was having a good relationship with my hiring manager and other staff. As time went on I was having trouble getting a response back from her. When I heard from her several weeks later I was assured that I was still employed. She apologized and asked when I'm available to work, which I told her. Then no answer once again and I still haven't worked anymore hours. They were willing to work with me and I with them. But now...nothing.
wrongful deductions out of my check, inconsistent inactive account manager
Good Afternoon, My name is Darlene Boone. I have been leaving messages for HR and my account manager for weeks and have yet to receive a call back or a responds. I haven't heard from my account manger in 4 months and have not had any work on his behalf. His name is David Gulfelchi. I believe that is illegal. I am also being deducted for a incorrect check from a company I have never even worked for issued to me. It was made out legally correct in my name address and company. There was no indication that this check could be incorrect or not mine. They are also deduction extra money from my check and it is causing problem in my personal life. I went to sign a wavier, stating I would pay back the check for 3 something and when I arrived the payment stated I owed 4 something. I brought to David's attention that the amount is incorrect. I was asked if I had the additional check I stated no I could not find it but it wasn't cashed. They decided to deduct it anyway although they voided all the check sent in my name after I cashed that one check. They are still taking out these deductions and I have in my possession the uncashed check. I worked 2 days for David in May. I had a personal problem and had been assaulted after work hours, and because of this my hours became ghost again. I moved forward to finding a solution to my lack of work and income by venturing off on my own and asking for work in allied universal site locations. I began to pick up event shifts still trying to contact my account manger who still has yet to reach out to me.in July I then inquired full time employment for the westfield wtc site. I was told I was still under someone else's (davids) account jurisdiction and he was not open to releasing me to someone else's account to work a different site permanently because "I will keep Darlene and use her when I need her" he stated to Westfield Mangers. I thought it would blow over, or that maybe this was in result to a lack of work but I went online and saw allied universal, my company is having a open house for job openings. This is wheni knew this was a personal problem that has effected my life tremendously. I Barley can pay my rent feed my daughter, I cant get assistance because I'm employed to allied and it says I make 1200 a month which is not the case. I work maybe 12 hrs a week. maybe 3 days a month.
