Allstate Discriminated Against Me as a Transgender Person and Delayed My Claim
I had a really bad experience with Allstate. My wife used to work at one of their satellite offices, but she got fired after showing off her engagement ring to a coworker. Her boss said it was because he "believed in the Bible." We called Allstate's HR department, but they said they couldn't do anything because the satellite offices were owned and run by individual people.
Then, I got into a car accident and called Allstate to file a claim. I'm transgender and was about to change my legal name, but they wouldn't use my new name because it wasn't official yet. They also threatened me and said they wouldn't take care of my claim if I didn't file "RIGHT NOW." I had to give my statement while being deadnamed and misgendered the whole time.
Months went by and I still hadn't received any reimbursement. The insurance for the rental car ran out and I couldn't afford a new car because Allstate was supposed to reimburse me for everything. I was in constant contact with them, but they kept giving me excuses and deadnaming me. It was humiliating and I felt like they didn't care about me at all.
I ended up getting a lawyer and threatening to sue them if they didn't give me my money. The next day, they released all the money. It was a really terrible experience and I wouldn't recommend Allstate to anyone.
Allstate Denied My Claim for Leaking Roof Due to Improper Installation
I have been a loyal customer of Allstate for several years now, and I recently had to file a claim due to water leaking in my house. The cause of the leak was due to shingles being blown loose during high winds. I had a contractor come out to give me an estimate and fix the spot to stop the leak. However, when the adjusters came out, they denied my claim, stating that the roof had not been installed properly and they would not pay for it. This was a shock to me, as I was told by my agent, Bryan Elkins from Lexington, KY, that Allstate would pay for the roof being replaced when I bought the plan. I have faithfully paid my premiums and have several vehicles insured with Allstate, so I assumed that I was covered.
The adjusters claimed that the roof was not nailed correctly, but it had held up for many years. As a 66-year-old, obese female, I am not able to get up on a roof to see if it was nailed correctly or not. I trusted that Allstate had inspected it and accepted it as installed, so it was their fault, not mine, if it was not installed correctly. I should not be penalized for their lack of inspection.
When my claim was first denied, my agent arranged for another inspector to come out for a second review. However, when my nephew spoke to the first inspector's adjuster from the Chicago area, he was told that Kentucky had not had any high winds in the last year. This was not true, and my nephew called him out on it, using some colorful language. The adjuster was offended and got nasty with my nephew. I later found out that the second inspection was not unbiased because the inspector knew about the first denial and had no plans to approve it to start with. Since I was out of town, I do not know if he even came and inspected it or not. This made me lose faith in anything that Allstate has to say.
To sum it up, if you accept my money, then you accept my roof and should pay for it if you did not explain that there were exceptions to it being paid for. My agent stressed the fact that Allstate would pay for the roof, so I trusted him. However, now I feel like I have been taken advantage of. As a senior citizen, I feel like we get taken advantage of, and this is another case of that being the case.
Buyers beware! Do not believe anything they say!
Wrong date on policy cancelation
Policy number [protected]. On April 30 2023. I spoke with customer service that we changed insurance carrier to geico my policy was due in may 2023. Unfortunately they sent a letter of cancelled policy with the date of 4/27/2023. My new policy was activated 4/28/2023. So we were charged additional fee of lapse of insurance. I contacted Allstate rep an they have sent repeated request to update their incorrect date to the correct date of 4/28/2023. They keep kicking it out an telling them it has to go through customer service. This is a simple error that could be resolved quickly. Can you correct this [protected]@gmail.com. Cell [protected].
Desired outcome: Please correct change date to 4/28/2023
I was on the phone with Allstate on April 30 to request cancelation I believe I was the one who stated the wrong date. Surely they can fix the date to show 4/28. Instead of 4/27
Car insurance allstate
Denied a claim and lied to the appeals counsel stating they could not get ahold of me. I have recordings of conversations with 3 total adjustors after giving them all the information they needed from the beging, their statement of denial stated they could not get a hold of me It appears they wanted a law suit, as the first adjustment was finished then they told me my money would go straight to the shop as requested.
This started my claim, and this is how they try to get you. After reporting an accident, being clear that you do not want to file a claim until after you have a shop give their cost estimate first
Well they said it would take a few days for the car to begin repairs calling them for two weeks, one adjustor said he has not hing to do with it anymore, the best one said the same. The last one w was s
Very difficult to get a hold of, when I did she wanted the same information again
You will have to provide the same information several times.
Sent in all requested forms by their deadline, they then stated they did not receive anything and I was unreachable
Denied my claim, left me with a $30 debt with no vehicle to get to work
Appealed it and they went into it further stating that my father (hes dead at the time) called and said that I had stolen the car! This is offensive and will find themselves in court fior extremely
unethical, illegal, and morally sickening
It's like they threw in a hole, kicked it closed and threw away the key
I never have recovered financially (Job Transport), physically (pain), and mentally distraught.
Desired outcome: Appeal denied, I will have to give them phone recordls and sue for over a year of no vehicle. I should definitely report them for criminal grand theft vehicle deprivation to the authorities
Auto
I had an accident on 04/23. claim #[protected]. My car was towed to a Caliber in network center based on Allstate's recommendation. I was told promptly when my car arrived at the recommended collision center that they were unable to work on the Range Rover because it is aluminum. The only place remotely close that will work on my car is in Charlotte which is 131 miles away from where my car is sitting. Allstate refuses to pay for the tow because I had it towed the first time. Here is my issue: I solely went on your recommendation as to where I should tow my car. I don't know anything about body shops much less that most places will not work on Range Rovers. Surely, this is not your first Range Rover needing collision repair. How am I to know this? I am trusting Allstate to guide me, the insured. What I want is to have my vehicle towed to the new location with NO additional cost to me. I have asked to speak to a supervisor and was told that Devon White would be calling me. I have called 4 x's this week and he has yet to return my call. Meanwhile, my car is sitting in a lot with no progress being made. This just isn't right in every way.
Desired outcome: Tow my car to Caliber Luxury in Charlotte without adding additional cost to me.
Payment not received
On 4/29/2023 I filed a wind/Hail claim with Allstate Insurance Company because my roof was damaged by the storm. 5/5/2023 I spoke to Amanda Moorehouse and She informed to me that she denied my claim because in 2016 Allstate Insurance Company had replaced my roof which is not correct I was issued a check for $1,600 to repair the leak in that one spot but an entire roof has never been replaced on my home. I have lived in my home since 10/12/2001 and I have never been late or Missed a Payment with Allstate Insurance Company They have no problem accepting your money but they have a serious problem when it comes to paying claims I want my roof replaced because I paid Allstate Insurance Company to insure my home and They did not do so.
Desired outcome: New Roof
To bad you won't get this but will reassure you get the attorney and they charge 1/3 and of course it's up to the 25,000 you get plus, the money for the car, even if it was totaled, of course they said mine was and also, didn't tell me they were taking it an hour away! Trying to make me pay 20 percent but before telling me it would be for 25% and the sad thing is there was a witness that said she ran red light and he was behind me, and the lady, she got a ticket and I didn't, she was also, passed out plus, I called the hospital three weeks later and believe this she had an aneurysm in her leg when I called the hospital they transfer me to her room and she told me, herself Doris she had in her leg when I asked your head. Well the next step the attorney said I could get more than just the car from accident. I can get the amount of my car and 25,000 I been done wrong, and etc.. He would get 1/3 which that's now my next options. I really didn't want to do this because of elderly lady that's 82 but it's out of my hands. I've been patience and now it's time to take matters and let someone else remove the burden. I found out you have to stand your grounds especially when you see they don't care for either person me the victims and her that was in the accident. Here's my number if you get this Linda first name is Cathy next step is putting it on Hub and check with other sources. [protected] Oh! if it goes higher than the additional or put off or they decline it goes to higher court and you get more than 25,000 and amount of totaled vehicle, haven't asked attorney yet if I'm supposed to get rental car and I been patience enough. God Bless Praying for everyone. Good Luke to anyone who reads this!
Allstate insurance
My friend who does not speak very good english, had a accident. Allstate has left their car at the tow yard for over 1 and a half months and refuses to pick it up. My friend now faces unpaid towing and storage bill that goes up everyday it sits at tow yard. They do have full coverage and have been told over and over that it will be taken care of. Now the car owner faces collection action by the tow company because Allstate refuses to pick up car. I think Allstate is taking advantage of my friend because they do not speak or understand english to well. The tow company has been getting the run around as well being told for the last three weeks that claims will be contacting them to pay and move car.
Desired outcome: Allstate pays towing and storage so my friend doesn't have this on their credit report.
Change in policy without my consent
I called Allstate in early April to find out reason for rate increase. I changed my policy from NV to CA and informed the representative at least 3 times I did not want any changes to my policy. There was confusion on the rep's part regarding my husband having his own vehicle and insurance through a different company, however he asked about my husband's information in order to get us the best rate (husband's license info, employment info). My husband was listed on my vehicle as a listed driver, however the rep listed him as an excluded driver. I signed the electronic documents, however did not read every word. Come to find out the rep listed my husband as an excluded driver. I have been trying to get this switched back to have him listed as a driver and I've been told it takes 10 days or longer to fix as it is in underwriting. I am absolutely furious with Allstate. I have been a customer for over 20 years. Among 2 other recent problems with Allstate and their lack of ability to remedy a situation your employee caused has been problematic as my husband and I will be driving my vehicle on a road trip within a few days. I will be looking for a different car insurance company as soon as possible due to these issues.
Desired outcome: My husband needs to be added as a listed driver to my policy ASAP.
Auto insurance
Allstate company cancelled my auto payment plan on their own decision, without any notice(from me or my bank) and my consent. Due to this action my insurance was cancelled for " non-payment." Insurance was cancelled without 45 days written notice. I even did not know that my insurance was cancelled. When I started investigate the reason of cancellation, my agent told me that Allstate has policy to drop off insurer after the accident. This is unlawful actions and Sheedy technique.
I have a laps in my policy and can't find an insurance company due to this laps.
Desired outcome: I'd like the company admit they did a mistake and reinsure me. This is the way to avoid dmv fee.
Customer Service - Erin Murrell - 972.510.6021
Erin Murrell is the worst Insurance Agent I've ever dealt with. I've needed answers from her on several things pertaining to my open claim and she refuses to call me, email me back or text me back. I've dealt with several Insurance companies before and this has been the worst customer service from an agent I've ever had. Shame on AllState. They need to address this with me.
Desired outcome: That my agent Erin Murrell, will contact me with answers I need!
Auto insurance - not in good hands
On March 11, 2023 our brand new 2023 Honda Odyssey was stolen right our of our garage in the early morning hours. This was a significant stress on my family, especially with a newborn in the home. We had the vehicle only 11 days before it was stolen and it was taken to commit more crime in the community. The police recovered our vehicle (5) days after it was stolen and the inside was completly trashed out. The worst part was the potent smell of God knows what inside the vehicle. Obviously, anyone with a newborn would not put their infant in such a toxic environment. Allstate provided a claim of $800 dollars to have it cleaned while the autobody shop estimated nearly $5,000 in damages. Allstate claims to have us in good hands but their actions speak otherwise. Allstate is the worst insurance company I have ever dealt with and they have no ethical standards nor do they care about those they insure. All they care about is their bottom dollar to make a profit. DO NOT INSURE WITH ALLSTATE!
Desired outcome: I would like Allstate to do the right thing and make us whole again.
Renters policy
Horrible, horrible insurance company. We live in the Bay Area and during our historic winter storms in which our governor declared California a "state of emergency", we discovered a wet wall in our closet with mold on our clothes. I called my insurance agent who told me we were covered and not to worry about anything. The apartment tested positive for asbestos, mold and water damage. We had to move out of our apartment and my agent told us to make sure to keep all our receipts for reimbursement. We had to move into a hotel and were there for 7 weeks while specialists did remediation in the apartment including taking down walls in the bedroom and dining room. Allstate sent their restoration company, CRDN, to the apartment to pick up all our clothes for restoration. The bill for that came to $3981.90 A month later, Allstate turned down the claim saying it wasn't a covered claim. CRDN is now charging us $3981.90 plus a storage fee bringing the total to $4231.90. Allstate initially told them it was a covered claim and that they would be paid by Allstate for this expense and this is why we gave CRDN our clothes to restore. Now Allstate is not responding to CRDN's request for payment and CRDN is now pressuring us for payment.
Desired outcome: We would like Allstate to honor their initial decision to pay for this claim so that we can get our clothes back. We would have never authorized CRDN to take all our clothes if Allstate wasn't going to pay for this.
Homeowners insurance
This is not the Allstate I used to know 10 years ago. I was a long time customer with Allstate, switch to couple different insurance and went back to Allstate for 3 years now. I didn't know this is how they are currently doing business. Allstate denied my claim for hail and wind damage on March 2nd. Mr. Thomas Moore claimed the damage is only good enough to prepare and since it was less than the deductible we receive nothing. I had 2 roofs contractors came out and told us we need a roof replacement due to the damage was all over the place. The first inspection, the third party contractor hire by Allstate didn't lift up the tarp to review the damage. The second third party contractor, also hire by Allstate did a better job on taking pictures can see all the damage. He even mentioned we need roof replacement. My contractor review the picture with him. Today, I receive an email from Mr. Moore without any pictures or any estimate. He just comment the review had complete and the outcome same as prior. Is that mean you don't even do report or pictures? My contractor and I both look at the pictures and it is very evidence that almost 70% roof are damage. I ask to escalate to supervisor. His response was this review was between me and my manager, you can go to appraisal. Mr Moore is a desk adjuster not even set foot at my house, the third party whom hire by Allstate, took picture now said he can't comment on what seen. This is absolutely the worse experience ever.
Desired outcome: I just hope Allstate has better customer services, be fair and be reasonable, help me resolve it without has to go through appraisal and more step and process.
Refund of account balance
I wish I had nice things to say about Alstate, but it has been the worst experience I ever had with Auto Insurance.
When I first got it, my rate was $163 per month (state of Texas), and I was advised that my best option was Milewise, and every time the account balance would go below a certain number, the account would be replenished they would take the amount described above. But very soon after that, or started to spiral out of control. Rather than one time a month, money started to be taken twice. I called and asked for a advice about a better policy for me, and I’ve always been told I was getting the best…I’m just a little under 30 years old and never had any bad driving record. After all that, Alstate doubled my rated for $384 every time my account falls bellow $92. They raised my rate for about 57% without providing me with an plausible explanation. Now, the icing on top of the cake, I did my last payment and decided to cancel the policy. However, they went ahead a decided to take another $384 after I asked for the termination, and being covered with another auto insurance. $768 just in one day! Insane! Costumer service is far away from doing the costumer a service. When I called the first time to terminate my policy they said I’d be getting an email in 24h, and I asked for a confirmation number for the termination, and they said they don’t do confirmation numbers for that, how convenient. After not getting the email, I had to call again to make sure of the policy status. To my surprise, the previous agent had messed up and didn’t do the termination. This time, the agent told me I’d get an email in 5 days. What is true and what is a lie with Alstate? Well, I don’t know. And it baffles me, that in the 21st and after Covid, their services aren’t equipped and efficient to an individual as a human being. I think paying for auto insurance $384 a month is fundamentally wrong and outrageous.
Desired outcome: Refund of account balance, of the “days left to drive”, since after the date of termination.
Denied claim
On 12/21/22, I was rear-ended while sitting in traffic. The driver was underinsured so it went on my policy with Allstate. At first, I was thrilled as once they got involved, things started moving and they got my car in one of their approved body shops and got me a rental car quickly. But, it all went downhill from there.
The body shop sent my car to an exhaust shop, then fixed the body, then gave it back to me. But it sounded like an 18 wheeler, so I gave it right back. They sent it back to the exhaust shop - and a week later gave it back to me. I didn't make it one mile down the road before my check engine light came on. I pulled into OReilly Auto Parts and had the code checked - it's exhaust system. I take the car back for the third time.
Eight days after I took the car back the third time, I received a formal denial of claims letter. They now say the check engine light isn't from the accident - even though - it certainly wasn't on before I got hit.
Now my car is at the body shop just sitting in limbo. If I want it, I'll have to pay for four new oxygen sensors - which will not likely fix anything.
They also refused to extend my rental car, even though the issue was with their repair shops. They stopped paying for the rent car on 2/11 - but didn't tell me until 2/15 - leaving me with a $250 out of pocket expense and no car.
I just want my car back the way it was. Two months of no car, and constant phone and emails since no one will call back or respond is ridiculous for a simple accident. This is going to end up costing me over $1500 - all because some guy hit me from behind and I'm not in good hands.
Desired outcome: I would like my car fixed to just like it was before I got hit and returned to me with no out of pocket expenses.
Claim for hurricane
Gathered all information and filed a claim. After trying to follow up, reached 2 people who sounded out of the US. All my neighbors have their claim paid. Allstate's representatives won't return calls. Are they in financial trouble?
Claim filed november1 last attempted contact 2/14-15
The claim has 2 parts
1 living costs to rent a place since my unit was without electricity and water
2 the special assessment from the condo to cover damages to the building and the deductible of the building insurance
Desired outcome: I would like Allstate to pay as all my neighbors insurance companies have
Claims reimbursement
On February 6, I was involved in a car accident where an Allstate policy holder rear ended my brand new electric car. The policy holder admitted fault on audit recording, provided his information and pictures were exchanged at the scene. That evening, I called Allstate to file the claim and they took the information and gave me the name of an adjuster. Now two days later, and after many conversations with the adjuster, I find out that because the driver of the vehicle won’t return the phone calls from the adjuster, there is nothing that can be done for me. The adjuster said that if they never respond, then after a month the claim will be rejected. Mind you I have a wrecked car, that is only two months old, no rental, no date in when the car will be fixed, and out money for lost work time. I had to call my insurance today in order to get anything done and will be out $1000 deductible. This is completely unacceptable. The insurance should honor the claim as it was their insureds fault, not mine.
Desired outcome: I want the claim to be processed, for me to receive a rental car until mine is fixed, and reimbursement for my expenses.
The part about losing money for lost work time is definitely false and brings into question the rest of your complaint. In addition, you typically enjoy being rear-ended, so what's the problem?
automobile insurance
Not a Allstate Policy holder and guarantee you after this NEVER WILL BE.
Back in May 2022 i was Stopped at a red light in traffic and a Allstate Policy Holder didnt stop and hits me from behind.
Months of calls, Jumping thru all the hoops, Providing all the documentation needed, Finally get to the last leg of this and a check is issued in the wrong amount...Start again Finally again checks issued in the correct amount however the WRONG NAME.Start again..cant talk to the person responsible, leave messages, cant escalate..Im in the Allstae Black Hole
Desired outcome: final the claim Checks issued in the right amount and correct name
Home insurance /damages
U sent a man here to look at my house, he did outside but he really didn’t want to come in until I asked he too to began with. He should have gone in top of the house where he would have seen where the house has been leaking… Therefore it has been raining here every day on 220 degrees rd in west Monroe Louisiana and my ceiling is still leaking from the roof and getting everything wet… and y’all will not help pay to fix it… I think y’all can talk to my lawyer in Monroe, Louisiana his name is Marshall Sanson and you need to get agents that are more friendly, this agent I have is rude to me.
Desired outcome: Get my roof done please and the 2 places in my ceiling to be fixed and replace the wall that has gotten damaged from rain
Car not fixed, claim closed, stranded for 3 weeks
My vehicle was damaged by a semi in Oregon and I opened a claim. I also opened another claim due to my fault because my vehicle slid off the road in the snow. The collision center called me to let me know that my first claim had been closed by Allstate and they could not complete the work. I have been stranded in snow by Allstate and Enterprise for over 3 weeks, now. I even paid for extra auto replacement coverage. My agent has not returned my e-mails. Insurance is only good if you never use it, I guess. Between Enterprise and Allstate I have been stranded for 3 weeks with no running water, supplies that are running out, and a vehicle that won't move.
Desired outcome: Fix my car and get me the hell out of here!
