exchanging items
I contacted American Eagle Outfitters in regards to a order I had placed while there was a Buy One Get One Free Sale for the clearance items. I received the items today only to find one of the shirts to have little holes in several areas of the shirt, and two other shirts to fit completely wrong and no matter what size I would exchange them in they would not fit. I was told by online chat to call customer service so I did.
When I was talking to the representative I asked if I could exchange these 3 items for something of same value to honor the deal that I had paid for in the first place and she said no. I was not trying to get any money back or something for more value than my items. My only options was to either exchange them for the same exact things or to just return them and get nothing since the 3 items just so happened to be the free items in my order. Not to mention that if I returned them I would have to pay shipping on it as well as get nothing.
I have spent plenty of money and placed several orders with this company in the past but this experience is certainly making me rethink doing any further business again.

I placed an order on 2/28/17. My order was cancelled about 5 minutes later by American eagle stating they needed more verification. After calling and speaking with 3 representatives I was assured my order was approved and there would be no more problems. On 3/1/17 I called and spoke with another rep because my account still said my order had been cancelled and she could give me no reason why other than possibly a computer glitch. This is unacceptable! I placed the order with overnight shipping because I needed it by Friday 03/03/17 due to an unexpected trip. Please correct this problem!
store manager
Beginning of February me and 2 other friends went in to go shopping and hopefully have a nice experience but we got the opposite. There was a worker (store manager) named Nick . I asked him for a dressing room and he did get me it but didn't say one word to me. It was like I wasn't even there. After i tried on my clothes i left a shirt in the change room that my friend wanted to try on after, she asked him if he could open the room to get it and he did and said that there was nothing in there and didn't even offer help to see where the shirt went that my friend was going to buy. We went to the cash to pay and my other friend had a question about your points card and the chaser didn't know so she asked him and he didn't even listen to what was wrong with her points card and said that there was thing he could do and walked away. While we were paying he was even rude to the costumers beside us and they were in shock at how rude he was. My best friend works at the store across from american eagle in the mall and one girl came into the store crying because he said to her that he "didn't have time to find her size". Another incident that happened to one of my friends was a few months ago and she was trying on a white dress and he said to her that she should take her bra off because the dress would look better without one. To me that is way too inappropriate for a male worker to say to a female costumer trying on clothes.
employee disrespect
My sons and I were in the AE in Franklin TN today. We got a shirt off a display hook thinking it would be better than disturbing an employee (it was busy today, Presidents' Day). We successfully got it then we were approached by I'm assuming the manager who told us never again to do that and proceeded to tell us all the things that could've gone wrong. I'm not saying that in some remote world those things couldn't ever happen, but he treated us like we had committed a federal offense and that it was something we would continue to do. In retrospect, I should've asked someone to get it down. But I don't take kindly to being reprimanded my someone half my age working in retail. He could've done it so much kinder. And it was kind of a moot point since it was over. Once again, I won't do that again. But show some kindness and respect. Then we saw him relaying the story to another employee and pointing to is as we were paying. What's the point of that? So if he was trying to humiliate us he succeeded. I take responsibility for my lack of judgment (in this criminal case) but that Doesn't seem like good customer service to me. May not be frequenting that store from now on.

I'm not sure if part of their protocal is to have their white employees walk from way across the store to the other side when a black girl and her black boyfriend walks in but they can kiss my ### with that racist ### because they'll never get our money and i'll make it a mission to slander them every chance i get. employee disgust
I was shopping in the Volusia Mall in Daytona Beach, enjoying my shopping experience until I overheard one employee curse at another. I can only assume that the girl was a manager who cursed at a sweet lady who was working. Before I left the store I asked another employee what the girl who cursed name was. She said her name was Jessica. In my humble opinion, Jessica should not be in the position she's in if she's going to treat her own employees in that manner. I won't be visiting that store anytime soon.
accusing of stealing
Some friends and I went into an AE store and were looking at jeans, we complained about how over priced everything was. A worker there overheard and told her manager as we heard them converse about us and the manager said "oh they just need money". We left to another store and mall security came up to us and said that a manager from AE reported we stole a pair of jeans. Cops were called and we were escorted out the mall and cops searched my only friend that had a purse and found nothing.

I purchased this coat in January 2016. I wore it for less than a season. It is only Jan 6th 2017 and the season has been mild here so I have not been forced to wear this coat relentlessly. While kneeling down to pick something up the zipper broke leaving me extremely annoyed and sad. I love this coat and only have worn it less than a full season. I do not have a sales receipt since AE clothing has always been quality clothing and did not think I would need to return this item. I would like this coat repaired or replaced. I'm very disappointed at the quality of the zipper in this coat. I have had coats last 5+ years with no issues with zippers.
dirty store, damaged products and misplaced products
I'm not huge spender so where I usually look first at American Eagle is the clearance rack. it has lots of different choice and it's all in one spot so that I don't have to walk around the whole store aimlessly. I found a couple of shirts and went to try them on. their change rooms however were disgusting. the amount of dirt piled up in the corners was as if no one had swept the floors in months. and it reeked of body oder. I also found some earing that I really liked and they were the last ones on the shelf. however one of them had holes where missing little dimonds were supposed to be. so this product was damaged and they gave me no compensation for it or apology for their damaged product. lastly after having picked out a few shirts from the clearance rack I noticed on my bill that one of the items was overly priced. so I went to ask how come and they told me that was a new item and it wasn't on clearance. now I understand that things can get misplaced especially at the busy time of year but this is the second time I have come into this store and found something I actually liked spacifically picked from the clearance rack and have it not be a reduced price. the second time . more than a year apart. they need to have people organizing the shelf and cleaning their dirt change rooms .

As i was shopping i noticed two women conversing with an african american female with a pretty face (I was told what her name was after the incident) after the young lady walked away i over heard the spanish american woman say to the caucasian american women, " her black ### needs to learn her place, she is one educated n#####, i will have to just write her up for stupid stuff to get her out of here!" and they both began laughing. I feel so disgusted that in this day and time that things of this nature are happening. I am protesting on all social media outlets that the american eagle outfitters store in oklahoma city's outlet mall don't deserve minority dollars, because they tolerate racist behavior.
sales and discounts
I went in twice and there was a sign that said clearance items take an additional 40% off. Nothing was marked down so I was just 40% off. Clearance usually means it's on sale and take an additional the word additional means its marked down and you taking some more off. So the signs are false. You really need to change them. So your sales and clearance and additional 40% off wasn't any more than the regular price with 40% off like the rest of the store. False advertising false advertising false advertising.
rude employee
I have shopped the Tanger Outlets every year in Commerce, GA. I was very disappointed with rude service I received in the American Eagle store. The employee stood at the cash register and didn't even offer me assistance. When I asked for a dressing room, she gave me a dirty look and an attitude. I should have asked for a manager but I am not usually one to cause a scene. I reluctantly made a purchase for my granddaughter and saw the employee roll her eyes at another customer. I did not get her name but she was a young tall blonde who wore glasses. I was very disappointed with my visit since it was always pleasant in that location in the past. I hope someone will relay and address this issue or I'm afraid you will be losing repeat customers such as myself.
they gave me nothing but headache!
I do not recommend www.ae.com website, because in my opinion they are highly unprofessional and really hard to deal with. I made an order and it was quite a big one and I spent a lot of money. When my order arrived it was incomplete and it took me a lot of time to prove them I was not lying. They were very pushy and insisted they sent everything I've ordered.
Anyways, they sent the missing stuff and when I finally received them some items were incorrect. I don't want to deal with American Eagle in the future, they gave me nothing but headache!

missing items from my delivered order
Yes I placed an on line order for a sweater and 2 pair boots and when the package was delivered I only received the sweater weighing 3.90 lbs. I called UPS and they told me that, was the only item in the package that was ship was the sweater I was told that they had to contact the Research team and it will be 24 to 48 hours on Friday I contact someone on line they told me that I should be hearing from someone by the evening. On Saturday I reached out to only find out that yes the boots were not shipped but they are no longer in stocked . Very disappointing it was I that had to keep reaching out to AE not them to me. I will not be ordering from AE for a very long time, been a costumer since 2009.

Never ordering something again from American Eagle! I made an online order on December 12, 2015. Today is already January 6 and I still received nothing. Yesterday the website finally updated the status of my order and only now it shows „shipped”. It means that only yesterday the label has been printed and for another 2 days they will prepare my order for shipping.The message l received today was very strange. It said two items were on backorder and one item shipped. Well, to begin with, I ordered only 1 item. I'm sure my item had been on backorder that whole time and I was never informed. The site shows my item will be delivered within 7 days. And this was a mess just for 1 overpriced shirt!

I order four shirts from American Eagle only to receive one shirt and three pairs of men's shoes. These shirts supposed to be Christmas presents for my friends, so I contacted American Eagle and asked them to send me the correct items in time for Christmas. I told I will send them back the shoes. They asked me to return the wrong items at my cost and I did. After that they ignored all my messages. Week ago I finally received an email stating they will not send me the missing items or refund my credit card! They also mentioned they will not refund the postage. That was their mistake, but they won’t take responsibility for it. Horrible company! They promised to send me my shirts, but I was fooled by them and I feel very disappointed. Avoid these scammers at all costs.

I bought a hoodie last sunday, and when i got home, while i was showing it to my sister i found there a small cut. So as anyone would do, i went back to the store to replace it on tuesday. But when i got there i was surprised by what happened. I showed it to one of the staff he told me he should get the manager, when he came he told me "That is not our problem, this seems to be cut while you where using it" as if he is saying i'm lying but in a better way.I was so angry at that moment but i realy held my self from making any problems. Then I asked him what shall we do at this sitiuation...he told me the hoodie is going to be showed to a (something) team an they will contact you within two days. I waited for there call for 3 days, but no one called.so i went back to the store he told me the same thing that this problem isnot their's. Still don't know what shall i do in this situation
customer service mistreats customers
I don't usually write to companies to make a complaint nor write up reviews online about mistreatment. After the phone call I just got off of, this is warranted. I have been shopping at American Eagle since high school. Not to date myself, but that's almost 20 years. I'm a pretty loyal customer and have always found AE's clothes to be the perfect fit. Even when they redesigned their jeans at one point, I stayed loyal by purchasing shirts instead. I placed two high dollar orders in the month of May. The second order wasn't completely fulfilled as one of the shirts was out of stock. Another one of the shirts was the wrong color. The woman on the phone could have cared less. She was indignant from the start and I hung up at the end feeling like AE doesn't need my money. I called her out on her attitude but that made no difference. She treated me like a freeloader and was incapable of empathy. I wrote an email as soon as I got off of the phone. A simple apology would suffice but if they are incapable of extending the olive branch, then there are other businesses that are demanding peoples attention.
website technical difficulties and customer service
I am a frequent customer at american eagle, and have recently received many discount coupons from my aerewards account. So I went on ae.com to use my 40% off coupon and every time I entered the discount code, the products in my bag said "free" and the total balance read as $0.00. This also happened to me in three orders I had placed before. (I thought maybe the problem was my computer, but even when I tried on a different one the same problem occurred.) so I tried to enter the discount code again and again and again and still no change. When I went to place my order, the real amount finally showed up. So I entered the discount code again and the correct amount including 40% off showed up. So when I pressed "place order," the total amount changed back to the original price without the discount! I went back and read my order and it charged my card an extra $50! I immediately called customer service and they said all they could do was refund me the difference in gift card form because the order was paid for partially by gift card. Which is unfair because the extra amount was charged onto my credit card. I had no desire for an ae gift card after the problem that just occurred, I just wanted my money back! I am so frustrated and disappointed because I loved ae. Unfortunately, I will not be shopping at ae.com anymore.
