We've been rentin' a hot water heater from AWHR for over 10 years, and the company they bought out too, without any complaints at all
We've been rentin' a hot water heater from AWHR for over 10 years, and the company they bought out too, without any complaints at all. The rental price was fair and the service was quick, hardly had any problems 'til we sold our home. 'Fore the closin' date, we called 'em up to let 'em know we were movin' and gave the new owner the rental info and a recommendation in case he wanted to use the service. We even agreed to pay for an extra month after the close date so he wouldn't feel rushed. When we made that call, we told 'em we wanted our account closed on a specific date. But a few weeks later, after we moved to another state, we got another bill! So I called 'em up and they said if we closed the account, they'd take the heater away that day. We didn't want that to happen. After a bunch of phone calls, we found out the new owner said no to the service, but they wouldn't take the heater away, even though we didn't want it. They said he called 'em askin' to remove it, but they said they couldn't 'cause we still owed money. They also said they couldn't close the account by law 'til he said no to the service. We talked to 4-5 different people and each one had a different story. I've been waitin' for a supervisor to call me for 3 weeks, but no one else will take my call. And now we just got another bill for 2 months! I'll call 'em again on Monday to see what they say. But seriously, stay away from this company. I'm also gonna file a complaint with consumer affairs and the attorney general in Texas! The stars are for the many years of good service!

Customer Service is refusing to let me speak to a supervisor. I've called multiple times and the same three representatives answer the phone and claim that there "is no supervisor."

We had a contract with AWHR for several years and the heater started to misfunction. In May I contacted the company and asked that they remove the tank. They told me they could not do anything until the current balance was paid. I told them that I had not received a bill and when I did I would pay the account in full ( they were concerned about( $22.41) The next day I received the bill and sent a check along with a note to please make arrangements to pick up the tank. Again the next month I get another bill and when I contacted them to once again remove the tank they tell me I have another balance that needed to be paid. I told hem that I contacted them in May and told them to remove the tank. Once again they said the current bill needed paid. I argued with them and told them I would not pay one more cent because they were informed in May and every month since to remove it. I have been receiving bills each month and have contacted them each time and have copies of each correspondence I have sent them. They will do nothing. I have contacted the ComplaintsBoard.com in Chicago and it is my impression they have received several complaints about the company. Don't get involved with them.
My water heater busted and flooded my basement so I placed a call to them at 9am to let them know but all they did was tell me that I had a bill due and they can’t help me until it’s paid so I went online and paid it called back with the confirmation number they told me that a technician was gonna call me 2 hrs passed nothing so I called back now I want to speak to a supervisor but they tell me they can’t transfer they have to email one and a supervisor will call me shortly another 2 hrs passed no supervisor or technician so I called again and again I must of call them 10x already and every single person have no idea so my 12th calling them the person on the phone can’t don’t know what technician is supposed to be coming he don’t have his info and all they keep saying is that their going to call you this is ridiculous and so unprofessional I HAVE NO HOT WATER AND MY BASEMENT IS FLOODED I will never ever recommend this company to anyone the aggravation is not worth it all they care about is making sure u pay your bill but they don’t want to fix there equipment that’s breaks THE WORST COMPANY EVER someone needs to report them or put there company on the news for fraud
Complained several times about rusty water. Felt I needed a replacement water tank. Had a technician come out twice. After he ran the water and it cleared, I was told it was a problem all over the city and that I did not need a new tank. I was told it would be a problem until the street work in the city ended. I went through several shower curtains (due to staining) and needed to clean constantly to attempt to remove rust stains from tubs in house. The technician had shown me where the tank would drip before flooding the cellar, so I checked often. So when my basement flooded, it was a surprise! I decided to buy my own water heater even though I thought I might still get rust. Guess what? Surprise! No rust! I called the company to complain and see if I was entitled to any sort of compensation. I was told they could not do anything, unless I renewed with them. I already purchased my own water heater and paid for a plumber, but would never use this company again! I am also calling my local gas company to encourage them to use another company.
A horrible unprofessional company to deal with
A horrible unprofessional company to deal with. They use very unprofessional subcontractors for repairs also. They don't even try a little to help resolve any issues with you at all. They pass the blame either onto the customer or their subcontractors. Stay away from this company!
My father in law passed away and was renting one of AWHR water heaters. We sold his home and the buyers were aware of this rental. We notified AWHR when the new owners took possession. According to numerous calls to AWHR the problem is we cannot cancel this service because we no longer own the home and they are not allowing the new owners to cancel the water heater because the rental is in my father in law's name. So we are in catch 22 - we do not have possession of the rental but we are getting billed each month for the rental and according to AWHR there seems to be no resolution except to keep billing. They will not give us information so that we can contact someone in the USA to find a solution. These people should have no stars. You get a different answer depending on who answers the phone. We have been dealing with these people for over 3 months with NO RESOLUTION!
I had a rental water heater from them and sold my home. I called and told them to cancel my rental. They told me they would and I paid a final bill. A month later they sent me another bill. I don't own the home and the new people had apparently not taken over the rental agreement. The company had not come to get their rental either. I was told that I cannot end my agreement and my husband has to even though I am on the account. I asked for a supervisor and they said one would call me but never did. I am going to file an actual complaint. I hope they get closed down. The only reason we had this rental was because when we moved in it was already there and it was easier financially than buying a new water heater.
I currently rent 15 water heater tanks from awhr which includes service for all 15
I currently rent 15 water heater tanks from awhr which includes service for all 15. Never have I had a good response time experience when a tank fails to operate and provide hot water. I have tenants who have gone as much as 8 days without hot water. Awhr has never serviced an issue for me in less than 3 days. My tenants are holding me accountable for a disservice that I pay for. Completely unacceptable!
The complaint has been investigated and resolved to the customer's satisfaction.

I paid for this hot water heater for 25 years
I paid for this hot water heater for 25 years. The house was sold to my son with the hot water heater. My son tried to get AWHR to come and get it for 7 months and 12 calls to them. He installed his own hot water heater and it’s still in their garage. Now my name got turned into a collection agency and I’m supposed to pay $993 for the hwh. I received no mail from awhr I had no idea about this until the collection agency got involved. I called awhr and talked to a nice guy that said there was nothing he could do since it went to collections. Stay away from this company

My water rented from AWHR died and I called (April 30) to have it unhooked and removed and to close my account. First I was told that that could not have my account closed yet because my rent was due on the Second of May and though automatic was not yet deducted and to call back Monday May 3rd. Also they could not remove the water for 3 to 4 weeks because they were behind. I called back Monday, May 2nd and was told my account was closed and they would not be removing the water heater because I had it so long and the water heater was now mine although they had just collected rent.

No sense of customer service and considering the situation
No sense of customer service and considering the situation. My water heater started leaking. I had water all over the basement. It was an emergency. I called for AWHR to replace it. AWHR came out in a timely manner and installed a new water heater. The problem is they did not disclose that I would have to enter into another contract. I had been paying my monthly fee for over 10 years. My new monthly fee went up over $20. Less than a year later, I got a new job and we sold our house and moved to a house that already had a nice water heater. The people who bought our house decided not to continue with the AWHR water heater. AWHR now will not let me out of the contract nor will they pick up the water heater from the new owners of our old home because we did not give them 30 days notice. AWHR is saying that I have to pay out the rest of the contract plus pay a $150 early termination fee and pay for water heater. No sense of customer service and considering the situation.
I only gave 1 star because you have to in order to use this review process
I only gave 1 star because you have to in order to use this review process. I rented since 2007 and when the water heaters leak they say they are giving you a new one. They give you a refurbished one that does not hold up as long and leaks after a few years. If they can't repair it, they say they will give you a new one (it's not new) but you are required to sign a minimum 4 year contract again. I am tried of this so asked them to come pick it up, I am not going to sign another 4 years. Even though I own the house, write the checks for their rental, and called for the repairs, and signed the contracts they will not allow me to ask them to come pick up the broken hot water heater. For some reason they put it in my husband's name all these years even though I am the one that signed the contracts. The foreign speaking girl on the phone refused to let me speak with anyone else. She is probably sitting in another country. I had to call back and lie and use my husbands name. It is wrong that I am a woman and have no rights!

Awful billing and customer service
Awful billing and customer service. I have called at least 6 times to reset my password as the website keeps telling me its invalid. When I call they say they need the IT department to reset it. They will have them call me back. They never did and never fixed it for 6 months. Then when I finally got that fixed I set up an automatic payment plan for them to withdraw from my account. For another 6 months every month they never withdrew it and when I called then never gave a reason why but took the infor for my account again So I am constantly overdue and have to contact them every month. This month still no auto withdraw and now I owe two months, AGAIN, and when I called the woman said there was a "glitch" in the system and the payment wasn't taken out. But I was never notified. Every time I call I ask for a supervisor and they tell me there isn't one available but they will "escalate" my call and someone will call me back, NEVER HAPPENS! They again took bank info assured me it would come out of the account in two days and offered me a free month. This company is the worst to deal with for payment plans, but when I needed the boiler they came right away and the service was good. I don't recommend using them for payment plan and rental option.

There's this water heater we rent from this company that's being a pain in the neck
There's this water heater we rent from this company that's being a pain in the neck. They just won't replace it, no matter how many times we've tried to fix it. I'm in charge of a property with 11 families, and let me tell you, they've been without hot water for a solid 2 months now. It's a real headache, I tell ya.
I tried paying on the website, but it never worked for my account number
I tried paying on the website, but it never worked for my account number. So, I called AWHR in July and made a payment over the phone. I told the person about my account not working, and he said sorry for the trouble but didn't connect me to anyone to fix it. He thanked me for the payment. Fast forward 3 months, and AWHR sent my $176 bill to collections. They admit they never told me that the phone payment I tried didn't go through because "different companies have different policies." They sold the debt to a collector without sending me a final notice, disconnect warning, or even a simple email saying the payment failed. I had no clue it didn't work until I got a letter from a collector. Now, my good credit will have a bad mark for 7 years unless AWHR decides to take it back. I offered to pay them the $176, but they don't have that amount in their system anymore since they foolishly sold the debt without giving me a chance to pay.
