angis ads
im a female small business owner and i got duped and hustled into joining angis business advertizing, the salesman was very skillful in the art of distraction, and making promises of leads and work, almost garanteeing it on a regular basis, even told me that if i couldnt afford the 800.00 a month he just conned me out of , that i could change it at any time, the first week i got leads alright, for services i dont provide, i contacted my so called client manager several times about changing my categorieswhere im listed, i got emails confirming the change, but nope still kept getting leads for other services i dont provide so with in that first week i started emailing them requesting a refund and to cancel my contract and no im not paying the 35 % fee because i had no idea at the time what i was agreeing to , i even stated that during the initial sales call and he blew moke up my rear and here we are, they continue to take money from me with me contacting and emailing everybody in every departmet requesting a cancellation , i had just at 1,000.00 in my account and they took 800.00 of it this month for nothing ive received absolutely nothing from them no leads no work nothing i want back my money all 1600.00 ND OUT OF THAT SCAM OF A CONTRACT FREE AND CLEAR
Desired outcome: A FULL COMPLETE REFUND AND CANCELATION OF AGREEMENT WITH NO FEE
Painting work gone wrong!!!
I contacted Angi's List for a painter the fist guy they sent was on a Saturday and all I wanted was to brighten up my house with a different color paint well this guy took 12 hours to do two walls in my house I don't have high ceiling so it was amazing on how long it took him. By the twelveth hour Angi's List told me to ask him to leave and that they would send someone else to come do the work correctly. SO I did as they asked now I was left with two walls painted very badly and paint on my furniture and floors. On Tuesday July 12th they sent they other guy as soon as he came in I said listen the other guy made a mess to my furniture and floors so please use the plastic roll I purchase... well I was speaking to myself this guy walked around with the paint dripping all over my floors as he inspected his work and all the while my appliances and floor and sofa and carpet were getting damaged. I contacted Angi's List complaining about my issues and they said we will refund your money. But wait what about my 3 year old house and furniture that has paint all over it. They said we refund your money. I said can I speak to supervisor and he said no we gave you back your money. I was pissed and hung up and called back so I can get someone else and they apologies for the rep and got me a supervisor and they said we can send some new people to do the work and I said No because you guys are sending people who don't care about our homes out so he said well contact so contractors for estimates and send to us so I did now I can't get anyone to answer my calls and one of the reps hung up in my face. It's awful over there I can't believe they are in business still. just terrible how our property means nothing to them. Well since they won't entertain me I have contacted the BBB for them now they can fight it out with them.
Desired outcome: Go over estimates sent and for them to be addressed ASAP.
Contractor to install exhaust fan in kitchen .
We contracted with Angie to have a contractor install a exhaust fan in our kitchen back in June 2022. They set up a schedule for 20 july 2022. At 6:00am the contractor ,Cody, Cancelled . We made time out of our schedules so he would be able to access to our house. for the install.
This is the second time Angie Has let us down. The first time was with a drywall installer, who stated the job was too over more complicated than what he could do .That was to patch 2 holes in our ceiling. We ended up getting a local contractor to do the same job , cheaper than Angie.
Desired outcome: We want our account removed from their list and an apology . And to remove Cody as as listed contractor from their list as well , so no else gets put into the same position as we were.
Handyman
I had requested a handyman to start a project at my home. The person came out to look at the product and in 5 minutes said he could not do the project.
The billing department had billed me for the entire project nd would not credit the account.
I have reported them to the NYS Attorney Generals office and am awaiting a FULL REFUND.
Beware, Ani's is a scam.
Ad scam
35% cancelation fee is hidden you must ask them about it. Its 35% of what you owe them for the rest of the year. This is bad for small businesses who do not make much money I waited and bid my time then I canceled I got one lead out of all the leads contacting me. I do wood framing remodeling garages porches sheds and has multiple people wanting metal framed excavated storm shelters which I have no knowledge of. Had multiple free estimates getting turned down because the price was too "high" and people wanting me to do plumbing electrical painting and concrete too. I'm no jack of trades in a sub contractor thankfully I had my own jobs so I could pay for this crappy deal angi ads is the worst ad company I have ever seen and the absolute worst to deal with you sucess manager is the only one who can cancel it and I have a feeling its to stall and make you reconsider. Be firm and aggressive if need be do not let them sway you read the contract before signing. I was naive I didn't know I was signing a contract at the time. I'm appalled this is how they deal with customers. Slimey snakes I hope one day they go bankrupt and have to close down so they can't scam anyone else.
I want my 💰 back free estimates time gas tools materials I buy and lead changed their mind on a whim. On behalf of the majority of those using Angi ads we are not happy with your "services" and you have screwed over many hard working sub contractors and clients of sub contractors. You waste a lot of time with big talk and simple promises that go unchecked. You are misleading and have dirty hands in this.
Desired outcome: I want my money back all of it.
Angi list - vendor selection
I once used Angie's List a lot. However, they changed the format (now Angi List) and the member doesn't select the vendor. We moved into a new house and ordered a locksmith to change our locks. However, Angi sent a handyman who did not have the proper locksmith equipment and was unable to change our locks/re-key. Angi charged me $284 but would only refund me $127.
Desired outcome: Angi owes me $157 for the complete refund.
Pro that is not vetted
Needed carpet cleaning services. Scheduled for July 3 12 noon. Angi rescheduled for July 6 2:00 PM. The PRO did not take it out of the Angi que till late July 5.
Got hold of the PRO. He can do carpet but does not have the equipment. What? A Pro that does not have equipment?
Called Angi. That is when the fun started. The call center is not in the United Sates. After talking to three representatives, they understood the issue.
I explained that I still needed the carpet cleaned. They sent a phone number of a Pro for the services needed. Same Pro, the one that cannot provide carpet cleaning unless I provide the equipment. He confessed he could not afford to do so until paid by a previous job through Angi.
DO NOT USE ANGIS LIST. They have little or no vetting process in Pros they are using. They take NO responsibility in the process or the actions of their Pros.
Angi is an ad company all you have to do is sign a contract with them and pay 300 a month people like you don't understand that if we don't get paid we can't take on another job we can't afford to buy new equipment or lumber or what ever else because there is no guarantee we'll be paid for it or reimbursed for the materials bought. Angi screws you the client over and they also screw over the sub contractors too
House Cleaning/Molly Maids
I have been trying to talk to a manager for 2 days now regarding a house cleaning job I booked. I have talked to several people and they tell me there are no managers. What? How can there be no managers? I keep getting the run around. I am extremely upset regarding Molly Maids and Angi's List.
Never have talked to anyone in management. The original cleaner came and did not finish the job, see photos. Also she was 45 minutes late and did not do the MOVE OUT cleaning that I had booked.
I talked to booking again yesterday, they offered a free do over for today. which was confirmed by email. The sent an email this morning at almost the appointed time saying they could not find anyone to do the job. What kind of business does that? They rescheduled it for nest week the 5th of July when I CLEARLY stated and said many times this was a rental and TODAY was the last day we could be in the house. Angi's list and Molly Maid are the worst companies I have ever dealt with. I asked for my money back with they said they would refund in 3-5 days. We will see. I am incredibly upset at the lack of professionalism with these two companies. I will NEVER use them again.
Desired outcome: Talk to a manager/supervisor as soon as possible
Lawn mowing and weed wacking
I had a "pro" lined up for Saturday 6/25/22 but it rained so he texted me at 1:13 pm that he would come on Sunday but didn't say what time (even though it wasn't raining at the time). I sent him a text back at 3:19 pm asking what time because I have to open the gate to do the back yard. He had all evening Saturday to text back and only gives 20 min. notice on Sunday? Sunday at 10:00am he texts me he will be there in 20 minutes. I was not home and I didn't see his text until Sunday at 12:47pm. I asked what do we do about the backyard? I'm still waiting for a reply. I just texted him again in all caps, WHAT ABOUT THE BACKYARD?!? He did mow the front yard only. I want another "pro".
Desired outcome: No charge or at least 1/2 the charge.
Moving services
We were loaded in TN by Lift Moving or Lift USA Moving From Boca Raton, FL on June 15 to be unloaded in Bradenton, FL on June 16. He left items in our driveway in TN, knocked down mailboxes and didn't stop (police report filed), held our goods hostage in FL till we paid more money, every piece of furniture was damaged and he snuck off with truck so it couldn't be checked. Several boxes were missing and the contents were worth a lot. This company is an LLC
and the owner has obviously done this before because he is very good at it. He also did not report accident with mailboxes to UHaul from where he rented truck.
There is no way he will return our calls and we don't even know if he has insurance.
Desired outcome: We will never get anything from him. He needs to be barred from having a license but he would just open up under another namme.
Contracting services for home repair
This occurred on or about 6/13/22. I wanted a bathroom ceiling fan installed. They quoted me a labor price based on what they thought I needed done. I booked it a month in advance. After a week had passed, they had not provided me with the name of the contractor that was accepting the job.
I should be able to personally vet the contractor and not rely solely on their recommendation. They required credit card information to book the job. I also could not get a list of materials that I need to purchase for the job.
On 6/23/22, I called to cancel the booking and thought they were doing so. On morning of 6/24/22, they called me thinking I had only delayed the job, but I in fact gave them I was cancelling the job. Shame on them. Do not book any service unless you are 100% certain you are ok with the contractor and know the particulars of your job.
Desired outcome: Email notifying of cancellation of the job.
Bombardment of calls from contractors I did not request
For the first time on the evening of 6/19/22, I submitted my information for a bath remodel on Angi's list. After I selected 4 specific contractors to whom I wanted to connect, I submitted the form. Beginning the morning of 6/20/22, I began to receive calls from numerous contractors, none of whom I asked for contact. The calls then escalated to the point of ~100 calls all throughout the day and evening, some as early as 8 am.
Angi's list is absolutely the worst! After the first few days of being bombarded by calls (not just for bathroom remodels, but for solar paneling and HVAC services), I shared my experience with colleagues at work as well as personal friends. All told me they had the same experience and were upset or furious at how Angi's list just "hands out" their phone number to anyone!
Prior to Angi's list, I had always relied upon Yelp for reliable reviews and also to be contacted by businesses for various projects/services. Most recently, new flooring and paint, all of which were great experiences.
The calls keep coming from Angi's list and I'm contemplating changing my phone number as a result (this is what others told me they had to do to stop the calls from coming) because it has been so disruptive to my life and work.
Desired outcome: Warn users of Angi's list that they will be contacted by approximately 100 contractors upfront and allow them to make the decision of whether or not they want to proceed.
Do not us Angie's lust. Still waiting on a licensed electrician and plumber without any luck. Het call for everything else that I don't want or need.
Ovi Home Services
This company was recommended by Angi's List so I was confident in the company’s reputation. The owner (Jennifer Valdes) contacted me and the exchange was friendly. We set up a time for her to physically come to my property and see the project, which someone from her company did do and take measurements. Next step to move forward with project was to remit deposit, which I did expeditiously. After deposit was made, contractor never showed again. I contacted Ms. Valdes and received excuse that their company truck was not operable. Keep in mind, I contacted them after a no-show (she did not reach out to state that they were not coming to start project). I was left in limbo for several days. When Ms. Valdes finally responded by text, I immediately requested a refund of the deposit. Ms. Valdes stated she could not issue a refund because materials were already purchased and on the inoperable truck. I stated to Ms. Valdes to return materials and refund deposit. Ms. Valdes reluctantly agreed to refund deposit after I stated that I believed her company to be fraudulent and threatened to report. I received another text from Ms. Valdes that she was able to return the materials to Home Depot and was waiting for the funds to be available in her account. After several more attempts to resolve the refund of my deposit amicably, owner now refuses to respond.
Desired outcome: I would like my deposit refunded.
Do not ever pay in advance that is how you know its a scam I'm a subcontractor for carpentry and I can tell you now I ask for half now half later but only at the end of the day or then next day so you can see my work and how it looks or if it needs a change.
Gutter replacement
They lame people over charged me for new gutter and they cancelled 4 appointments then raised the price by 150 dollars and magically someone showed up 3 and Half hours late and took all day doing 42 ft of aluminum gutter.. Today just had first tiny bit of rain ☔ and the brand new overpriced gutter leaks. They are scam artists and scum to mess people around and then do a crap job.Dont send the same person I want my money 💲💰 back and my Angie worthless fee.You save nothing and waste lots of time for a simple little overpriced bent and leaking gutter.Dont ever hire these scam artists.
Desired outcome: Want my money back so I can have a real gutter person fix the crap over priced job Angie did.5 appointments 150 more and the brand new gutter leaks same place before they replaced it.Brand new only 42 ft and leaks like a sive.
False leads and stealing money from contractors
I'm a small contractor. They make big promises on the phone and it sounds good. So I took a chance and signed up. It turned out to be the biggest mistake of my life. They told me they would put my company license up so I can do what my company specialize in. Septic tank install and septic tank pumping. After a month I cancelled because they couldn't find my license. I told them right where to go and the license number but they still couldn't find it. 3 days after I cancelled they charge my personal debit card. I talked to 1 home owner and she said she never even used Angie list. I'm waiting on the 2nd home owner to call back to hear what they have to say. Contractor stay away from Angie Leads.
Desired outcome: I would like a refund for the money they took without me knowing.
Wallpaper removal
I paid over $250 dollars to have the wallpaper in my bedroom removed. Someone came out, but he didn't have the right equipment, and after being here for two hours it wasn't working out. He bought some products, but not the kind needed to remove the wallpaper. I really like this gentelman, was a great person and good spirited, but I really want my wallpaper removed. I went out and bought some DIF to do it myself, but I have had three major back surgeries and can't do it anymore. So, can you please honor our contract and send someone out that can remove it for me. I then want some wall stuff done...maybe paneling, or a certain kind of texturing. I have had this wallpaper up in my room for 34 years, did it myself, as I have done most things in my home, and I would like someone that knows how to remove wallpaper, and do the walls to come out. Yet, The person must me experienced in this area. My room is in such disarray because of moving every
thing out. The one gentleman who camme out said he got on Google to learn how to remove the wallpaper, and he bought some items he has purchaced, like fabric softner. I would like to return them to him. Sincerely, Jeani Parsons
Desired outcome: Wallpaper completely removed, and walls texturized or paneled.
HydroCleaning N.W.LLC
I was scheduled for Hydrocleaning to come out on June 11th,2022. I actually called to cancel because my aunt was extremely unhappy with them. Matt wanted to know what he could do to make it right and said he would do my job for $350 instead of $450. i felt like at the moment he was being sincere. Then he cancelled within 24 hours of my job being done. i was very upset because i had taken that day off of work to have this job done. Now said he would do the job for $300 next Sunday and that his guys have confirmed they will be there. On June 16th i text him to see when they were coming. He said Sunday at 2:00 and that he HOPES they show up. I told him that i need to know for sure. He said he will contact me tomorrow. June 17th comes and not a word so i text him at11:30 and he says he hasn't heard from the guys who work for him and that he will call me when he knows. At 5:30 i text him again. He says he still doesn't know. At this point, i am beyond upset and i know he is blowing me off. He acted like his workers are running his company and he can't get a hold of them and get them to work weekends. He did nothing buy lie to me and had no intension of ever coming to my house. A $300 job is not worth it to him.
Desired outcome: All i want is for them to know that i filed a complaint. i honestly never want to hear from him again. It the worst company i have ever dealt with. My time is valuable and all he did was waste it.
Angi ads
This is for contractors. If you sign up for angi ads, they will still sell your leads to angi leads, in other words when you get a lead, angi's call center will be racing you to call that person, and they will try to take a deposite on that call.
It takes them 8 minutes to call from the time you get the lead email. They high pressure sell to get the 300 deposite and cut you out . They then sell that same lead to angi leads.
This is 100% a scam , a conflict of interest and i dont see how its legal. If you are a contractor be aware of this. You can still get work through angi. But the service is not what they say. They sell you the lead and then compete with you for the job.
Desired outcome: strop being scammed by angi
house cleaning
On June17,2022 I had a person from Angi service come to my home to clean. She arrived at 1:00 pm. I had ask for 1 bedroom 1 bath living room kitchen office and dinning area to be done. At 3;30 she said she was out of time ? but had not done all areas. She did stay to finish rooms but then told me I owed her $72.00. I said I though my card was to be charged and she said that is just for the company you owe me $72.00 Being the first time I have used this service I paid her. The cleaning she did was not up to par.. Her dusting was just done around things, she never moved any thing as she dusted. she did not clean the kitchen sink and what ever she used to clean the bath room floor left it sticky. So all in all I m not happy with this service and would like a refund and maybe you should check into her getting money from me. I won't be using this service again as I feel I have been ripped off. Kathleen Lehman
Desired outcome: I'd like a refund from you as well as the lady who cleaned my home
angi's seems to be a scam
Mike Scott Plumbing office manager
If you are in need of plumbing services and would like to contact Mike Scott Plumbing, please refrain from calling the Ocala office for assistance. that number is [protected]. I had a horrible experience in dealing with the office manager Kevin. He was rude, yelling, and totally disrespectful in dealing with a customer. This complaint is only about office staff and not with the plumbing services of Mike Scott Plumbing in general.
