Angie's List lying about exact pay for cleaners
Tried to receive help multiple times and nothing has come of it.
They will put fake bonuses on jobs and then you never receive them.
I also accepted a $82 dollar job and once I got there the app dropped the payment to $30.
It's horrible that they use every possible moment to take money from costumers and workers. I don't understand how this app is allowed to exist
Desired outcome: I would like to receive payments that were promised and changes in policies that doesn't screw over the costumer and worker.
Handyman work Project #[protected]
Hired them over the phone on 9/6/2022. They were supposed to send me three emails of information which I never received. Over the phone job was scheduled to be done at 9AM on 9/8/2022 for $159.00 which required prepayment to be processed once the work was complete. No one showed up on 9/8/2022 and I sent an email complaining of the no show three times but received no response. On 9/8/2022 they charged my card with the work not being done or anyone even showing up. Several days later I got a call From Keith Mann who said he would be out Friday to do the job. Shows up Friday 7:30 PM with no intention of doing the work that day. Said he would do it Saturday. Saturday came and again a no show.
Desired outcome: Refund of the $159.00 and want nothing to do with Angies list ever again.
Request handy man
Used Angi to find a handy man to move tv from one room to another. Lionel Junior told me cost was $78.56. Lionel attached my email address to a woman named Lee Ann in MO and I live in MI. My AMEX card was charged 4 times for $151 because my handy man kept going to MO instead of MI. Tried to explain many times but to no avail. Finally, a very kind older man said he would change my address from MO to MI. Plus, Lee Ann is having work done on 9/6 in MO and she has my AMEX number. Angi this am giving me a credit for 1 of the $! 51 charges but the other three have gone through. My AMEX has charges of $453 dollars. I have proof of the above (printed from email). The handy man came out yesterday at 10am took care of the problem with the TV but I was still charged $151 rather than $78.56. I would like to have my AMEX made whole for this and they are working on it but the one charge for $151 is not the $78.56 originally quoted me. I don't think you should be able to lie and just take the extra money — I'm 75 and on a fixed income. I never would have paid that amount for 10 minutes work.
Desired outcome: I am requesting a refund in whole to my AMEX card and I think they should be responsible for guarantee of a price given and not take ADVANTAGE OF A 75-YEAR-OLD WOMAN.
Concrete Work
I initially completed a request through HOME ADVISOR (owned by Angi) to get my concrete driveway repaired. Two contractors were provided immediately upon completing the online request. Both contractors came out, met me, and measured what I wanted done. One gave me a written estimate before he left. The other said they would email it. I waited two weeks and did never got the second estimate. I called the first contractor and asked him to do the job. He gave me a date he would start. Two hours later he text me and said he wouldn't do the job and to find someone else.
The next day I signed up and paid for a "Project Advisor" with Angi ($25) He was supposed to line up contractors to come out and give me an estimate on repairing my concrete driveway. He would handle all the details. He was able to make an appt. for one contractor to meet me. I waited on the date and time he said and the contractor was a no show. I reached back out to my ADVISOR and he said he would be back in touch with me. Two days later my $25 dollars was refunded and I can't get him to answer my calls or emails now. Angi was a total waste of my time.
Desired outcome: I would like to find out why Angi dropped me.
Carpet Cleaning
I contracted Angi for a carpet cleaning for my house. A lovely young man showed up at the assigned time with a very small vacuum carpet cleaning machine and about a quart of cleaning solution. My husband told me our job was too big for the equipment in hand, but I, regretfully, said, "let's see what he can do." After working on one room, that looked worse after the cleaning, I stopped the process and gave the young man $100.00 of the $400 purposed. I noted a small bleach stain on the carpet that wasn't there before, but the worst was large yellow stains that appeared to be the width of the cleaning machine used.
I thought it might get better as it dried, but it's worsened the yellow stains.
It's a stain and probably a chemical used on my carpet.
The job was contracted for August 29th @ 1 P.M.
I believe the carpet will have to be replaced in my master bedroom. I also believe Angi will have to be responsible for this replacement. I have a nice home and would like for it to remain that way.
Jill Pana
Phone [protected]
Desired outcome: I need your representative to come to take a look at the damage. I will need to have this part of my carpet removed and replaced.
Cleaner
The cleaner was to show up Fri Shyann S. NO SHOW .. This was a no cost to me because of Angi booking another cleaner for me when I had no knowledge of booking and while I was able to change the booking Angis had double scheduled Symone so I got 1 room clean and she had to leave for her other booking. Dates:
19 August Symone L. no time to clean more than 1 room
Fri Aug 28 12noon Shyann S NO SHOW
I can't understand NOT caring about this complaint for business purposes Like I can type 10 pages of a story but why>
Desired outcome: I obviously need my house cleaned. free of charge on Angie for miss handling my account now twice.........
Southern Improvements, LLC
On May 24th, 2022 I received a quote from the above contractor to have approximately 1200 sq. ft. of my attic finished as a guest bedroom and storage. I asked if they were insured and licensed along with having all their own employees and nothing was sub-contracted. They responded to my inquiry via email that they have all their own people working for them.
We met at my home on May 27th to sign the agreement and gave a deposit in the amount of $5000.00 check # 5743. I told him I decided to cut the space down to only 800 sq. ft. and his foreman said the materials and labor costs would be the same because the size wasn't that much smaller and I wanted a small clothes closet in the bedroom. The agreement signed was to be completed within 2 weeks of the start of June 8th, depending on the weather. We mentioned that we purchased a new sliding door and they offered to put it in for $800.00 but this was not part of the original contract and we have requested it removed from the invoice. We met and got estimates from an electrician and HVAC company. The HVAC unit was installed however the electrician could not run his wiring until the framework was up.
On June 7th in the evening, I received an email From Andrew (Southern Improvements) that two of his employees were sent home because of Covid and that he would need to quarantine. Work was not going to start until June 13, 2022.
On June 13th Andrew and his foreman Charles began doing the framework for the upstairs. They were unhappy because of the heat and not having an air-conditioned area to work. I explained that the air wouldn’t cool since it was an open area and I would be trying to cool outside.
On June 14th Sam brought a revised invoice that included the amount for flooring and a door they forgot to include along with trim and molding, I paid her another $6553.00 check # 5751.
They continued to work the next day and on June 15th around 1:00 pm, Charles stepped on an outside area upstairs where there was no plywood and crashed his leg through the ceiling of a downstairs office. Andrew went to purchase a section of drywall at Lowes while Charles cut out the hole to make it square. He did not move or cover anything so we had to get a tarp to put on the carpet and grab sheets to protect computers and other furniture in the room. We moved items out to another area of the home and pushed the furniture to one side to prevent damage. Andrew returned with drywall, tape, and mud and attached the piece of drywall to cover the hole. They left for the rest of the day.
They returned on June 16 to work but did not stay long because the HVAC and electrician were here and they said they would be in the way.
On June 17th Charles was here for about 4 hours and left for lunch. I asked when the ceiling was going to be repaired and he said he would do it later. He returned and put a coat of mud on the ceiling. Andrew told us the schedule of what would be done the following week and that the work would be completed by June 30th. Andrew also said he was going to purchase the flooring and the doors and he wanted to know if we would be around on Sunday, June 19th because he wanted to put the doors in our garage and put the flooring in our home to acclimate prior to installation.
On Monday, June 20th no one showed up.
June 21st Charles and Andrew dropped off the insulation for the next day and left. Before Charles left he said he would be here to install a door upstairs and finish the repairing of the ceiling on June 22nd.
On June 22nd for Sam and Jen came to install the insulation. When I asked about Charles coming to work Sam said she sent him to do a driveway and he would not be here. They left without finishing the insulation because they ran out. I called Andrew and we had a very heated discussion. At that time I asked where the flooring and doors were that he was to drop off Sunday and Andrew’s response was that it was in his shop. Later Sam and Jen returned they said Jen used to do drywall and could do some sanding and mudding to repair the ceiling they damaged.
On June 23rd Sam and Charles finished putting up insulation and the drywall was delivered. And it did rain that day. They said the drywall people could not work until Saturday and Sunday.
June 25th two drywall people arrived along with Sam. When I asked if these were their own employees and not subcontractors she responded with “well” I pressed her for the truth and she admitted that they work for another business but they work for them on the weekends. I requested proof of license and insurance for their business. I also, asked for a breakdown of the items on the invoice. Sam told me she only puts in the amounts given to her by Andrew. Charles wanted to know what questions I had on the invoice so I went over some of the items and Charles said the amounts were not correct and Sam and he decided on what the correct amount should be for the items in question. Sam said she will make the corrections and send me a corrected invoice. Charles tried making excuses for the overcharges stating that Andrew may have been confused on the measurements of the area.
The drywall people worked all day Saturday June 25 and Sunday June 26. They could not work Monday but would be here Tuesday, June 28 at 8:30 am.
June 28th the drywall employees did not show up. Andrew showed up and said the drywall people were not coming because they were sick. He also mentioned my questioning proof of insurance and license. I told him I wanted to be sure they were covered because he does not provide that information on the contract, invoice or business cards. He then asked if we had a building permit for the work as he already applied for one. We said, we were not aware it was needed and would go to the permit office and get one. At that time he told us he was diagnosed with a health issue and asked if we wanted out of the contract he would let us out. We said we understood and wanted to know if they would be capable of completing the job and he said yes. He said he was going to purchase the flooring and would return around 4:30 pm to drop it off at our home so it could acclimate to the temperature. (this is the 2nd time to purchase flooring) After he left I contacted his insurance carrier about being listed as a certificate holder on the liability insurance, he did not notify them so they added me. He did not show up in the afternoon with the flooring. He also said the drywall people would be here on Wednesday morning to finish installing a drywall and begin mudding.
June 29th they did not show up. I tried calling his phone number and the message stated no one was available to take calls. I texted Charles to ask if they were coming he did not respond. I left Sam a voice mail and she did not respond. Later in the evening, I emailed Andrew to accept his offer to cease work and calculated what I felt was fair for the materials and labor to date, and requested a refund of the overage paid to him. We paid a total of $11553.00 and for the materials and labor, we calculated $4292.00 and requested he returns to us via certified check the amount of $7261.00 because the drywall work is not very professional and will need to be re-done by another contractor. Once he received this email I was getting text messages from Charles indicating he had a health issue that day, his drywall people were exposed to covid. Andrew responded to my email that he would meet with us to cancel the contract and collect his tools but no mention of returning any funds. He indicated that the drywall people tested positive for covid and could not work that day. Charles texted he wanted to know if they could finish the work on June 30th which I responded not if they tested with covid. He is saying they were in contact with it but Andrew is saying they tested positive. We are continually getting told different lies about each. This contact was to be completed within 2 weeks depending on the weather. I believe they breached their own contract therefore we are not canceling it and they should return our unused funds. Also, at no time was there a discussion about taking photos inside or outside of our home. When we saw them on the internet my husband told Sam on June 25, " Do not take or post photos of our home or our neighbors and do not post on the internet.
Desired outcome: I would like a refund for materials they did not purchase and labor to repair the improperly installed drywall. We feel $5000.00 is fair as we had to find another contractor to correct all the issues.
Angi
I used Angi or Angie's list as it was known prior to find a bath remodeler in my area. They provided only 2 names. One had to be rejected right off as they weren't a contractor but a contractor locater. The 2nd was local company Boise Creek Construction LLC. Because the recommendation I accepted the bid. Come to find out Angi does NO BACKGROUND CHECKS. Boise Creek is in middle of lawsuit tying up it's entire State required bond. Now dealing with first conflict, the owner has called me a liar, a thief, stated I was a miserable person. All because he can no longer remember what he said or what I said. He even wanted to arm wrestle over this? He told me he could have my small modest bathroom remodel done in 15 days and is now reneging on it. It wasn't in contract which is very vague, but in his last ranting text he admits to saying 3 weeks, which IS 15 working days.
Desired outcome: Angi start background checks on any contractor or service they recommend.
Angie’s List Scam
I was. asked by Angie’s List to clean houses so i signed up and started to clean but they don’t tell you that they are going to take a big portion of my hard earned cleaning money while they sit back and try to steal it from you. They also don’t tell you that they send all the people to you and whether you clean for those people or not they still charge you a big fee for cleaning for someone. In fact i’m one place on their app they say if the oeoe are sent to you to clean unless you take the job you are not charged by Angie’s List only if you take the job well THATS A BIG LIE RIGHT FROM ANGIES LISTOR ANGIES SCAMS. SO WHATEVER YOU DO DONT GET INVOLVED WITH ANGIES LIST IN ANYWAY SHAPE FORM OR FASHION UNLESS YOU WANT TO BE TAKEN ADVANTAGE OF.
Desired outcome: I HOOE THEY SHUT DOWN ALL OF ANGIES LIST SCAMS WOUKD BE GREAT!!!’
Sand & coat my back devk
I had a contractor from your site re do my deck he started on 4/19/2021. He gave me brochures to pick out the product he would be using. My deck was only two years old, cedar & mahogany. On 6/28/2022 I call to inform him that it is pealing up & it looks horrendous, he blamed it on the product, that he purchased. Said he would come take a look & sand the areas, he never came & it is getting worse. I paid him in full upon completion & can’t get him back here to repair it. I had another contractor, not fro you, I was told the deck has to be totally re sanded & finished with the proper product
Desired outcome: Have the deck completely sanded & re stained
Billed for random tasks and leads that were never on my account to begin with
Scammers! if you are a small business do not go with angie leads, homeadvisor, or ange list. You will get screwed!
i have recently discovered that i was being billed for leads and services i do not offer. I'm the owner of a pressure washing business and was getting leads for painting, staining, and varnish, as long as repair exterior shutters. I called the "success manager" what a joke. Upon speaking to the individual and explained that i'm being billed for things i never added to my account. He then proceeds to give me an analogy on what i should do if i got bad food at a restaurant. Like what! after her told me if i decide to not pay the bill, they would send me to a collections agency and my credit would get hurt. After a few hours passed, i called again and spoke to the "supervisor of the manager" bigger bloke! after speaking with the supervisor for 20 or so minutes he proceeds to flat out accuse me of making the changes to my account when i definitely did not do so. They wouldn't even attempt to help me a smudge. I mean seriously, if you company/app sucks that much you shouldn't be in business. You really need a class axtion lawsuit opened against you guys as this is rediculous. After all this i was basically forced to pay a bill that was inaccurate, false, and no help to fix it. Just accusations that "only i could have changed it" when i didn't. Angie you guys should be shut down.
Desired outcome: Refunded of all monies as you guys are thieves and should be in court for scamming your customers and contractors.
Angi lied
Angi sent me a painter who was illegally using another contractor's account. This person charged me for work not done and then vanished. Angi promised me a refund and never paid me. I contacted them several times of a month and was ignored. I have the email promising me the refund and will have to take them to small claims court.
Desired outcome: Refund
No payment consistently lied to
I had done two different jobs with a perfect rating on both and was lied to why I didn't get paid in 29 different ways. They are trained to lie and keep you on eggshells. Its a very shady app. They have strung me along for way to long trained liers. I cannot tell you how many times they literally said I was getting paid only to be told something different 2 hrs later. I attached both jobs below which is now back in review.
Desired outcome: Paid
Angi
I wanted to replace the crown moulding on my porch. Somehow that got construed as deck. I have had to take calls and explain to some unhappy contractors. I may be guilty of choosing deck because it was the closest option to porch, but that would be on Angi for not making the website more user friendly. There needs to be an other option. I would never have requested deck work.
Desired outcome: Angi needs to be clear with contractors or take me off their list.
Mobile RV repair

Roof repair
I am in Kennebunk Maine and I accepted a set priced amount to repair my roof. The contractor postponed the original appointment, 8/5/2020, and agreed to meet the next day 8/6/2022. I arrived on site just prior to the scheduled appointment and soon got an text message saying that the appointment was pushed back from 12:00 to 12:30. I just decided to wait and did answer the text message that I was on site and waiting. The contractor did not show up. Thinking he might just be tied up on another job I waited until 2:00. I heard nothing back from the contractor that day nor anything since. I just attempted to send a to send a test message, 8/7/2022 and got a message the account was closed. My Credit card has been charged and not only was nothing done. The contractor never even showed up to look at the job.
Desired outcome: I would still like the work done as I originally requested at the agreed upon price. The location is at 159 Alfred Road, Kennebunk Maine 04043
Tile floor cleaned by someone not equipped and ruined
The „Pro Vince, was sent out to clean my tile floors. He not only ruined the floor but left the job and did not return. I sent several emails and finally made contact at this no. [protected], promised a claim form to be mailed immediately and 2.5 weeks later nothing. I hope to receive contact within 48 hours.

Desired outcome: Compensation for having the floor steamed and restored
Angi contractor damaged my concrete driveway shoveling show
I filed a complaint with Angi after their contractor chopped holes in my concrete driveway while shoveling show. I have irrefutable photographic evidence. I filed a complaint with Angi, and they would not compensate me for the damage because they said my claim was not timely. However, the driveway was snow covered then ice covered for more than a month after the incident. It wasn't until all that melted that I could see the damage and proceeded with the claim. They wanted a written estimate for repairs. That process also took a long time because I got professional advice (from the company that installed the driveway) regarding the best mitigation path. Then, I had to get a written estimate from a company that does the repair work. All of that took a great deal of time and effort. Now Angi tells me my claim wasn't timely. My experience leads me to believe Angi will use any excuse (regardless of the facts and circumstances) to avoid paying for the damage done by their contractor. I have photos, but they would not upload in this format.
Desired outcome: Angi compensate me for professionally recommended repairs.
Being charged for not showing up when i did show up
I showed up for a job that was booked without my ok on 7/28/22 and i showed up for the job and no one was home i tried to get job support when i was there and the app was not working. I got charged 50.00 dollars as a no show when i was there for 30 minutes sitting in 112 degree heat. Iemailed them of this problem. Then i wasnon my way to a job the next day on 7/29/22 and they cancelled it saying i missedthe job prior to that and took it off vmy scheduel. Now that was a 65 dollar job i lost and they are blaming me for all this when this is all their fault
Desired outcome: MY MONEY BACK FOR MY TIME AND I ALSO LOST A JOB THE NEXT DAY FOR 65 DOLLARS BECAUSE THEY TOOK IT OFF MY SCHEDUEL SAYING I DIDNT SHOW UP FOR THAT JOB TODAY SO THATS 135.00 THEY OWE ME
Scam, rip off
7/12/2022 On this date I called (Alaskan Plumbing and air.) I need a new A/C unit upon the roof, I thought this was Gibson air, but no it wasn't. I should have done more research on who is in the area that doe's A/C's I feel so sorry for not doing so. I'm out thousands of dollars for not doing so and nothing can be done to correct such rottenness in a company such as this. I've looked into it. All I can say is stay away from people like this they don't care about you it's all about Scamming you for all the money they can squeeze out of you.
Desired outcome: Don't get involved with these people

this could be 2 differnt reasons.
reason 1: they actually did fake out the job payout
or
reason 2: the client you accepted changed the request from say example 6 rooms for $200 each for a total of $1,200. you get there and the client changed their mind and told angie they want 3 instead of 6 rooms done, this means a loss of $600.
did your client tell you there was a change on their request?
