handyman apt
I had a handyman apt on 10-4-22 for a person to show up at 8am to fix a hole from my roof down to my laundry room(trailerr). When I got up I found an email saying it had been rescheduled till today 10-8-22 at 8AM. It is now 6PM and he still has not shown up. At 9am I got a text saying we were further away then he thought and it was taking a little longer to get here. At 10, a text saying he would be here at 12:00. At 1:00 a text did I have supplies, I had already stated when I made the apt I would not have supplies, as I did not know what to get. At 2:00 he would be here at 3:30 as he was stopping at Lowe's for supplies, nothing since. I had always heard good things about y'all, but I am very disappointed, and all of this has given me a very bad migraine. I better not be expected to pay for a no show service.
Customer service
Last week I called Angis customer service and explained that we no longer want to have lawn service until next spring. Well, I received a text stating our grass will be cut this Saturday, 10/08/2022. I called their customer service from Asia and tried to explain that I did call and chose not to have our grass cut until next spring. I was told since I am cancelling, I will be charged a fee. I was charged $76.00 plus $25.00. Well After calling three times to speak with someone who could understand why I was calling; I finally did speak with Teresa who was helpful and did refund my money. Still not sure why I was being charged for $76.00? Evidentially when I called last week that person did not make notes on my account! I am very disappointed in Angis service.

I had my air ducks cleaned by Mr. Quick on 22 September. While leaving my driveway the truck scraped and put 3 large dents in my newly blacktopped driveway. They took pictures of it and said they would report it and someone would get with me very soon about getting it repaired. They assured me that it would be taken care of. I have been waiting for almost 3 weeks and have called the office several times. Each time I get the same run around. They say they are working on it and that someone from a paving company will call me very soon. That has not happened. I called again yesterday and was transferred to someone from the claims dept who assured me that someone would call me before noon today. I called today after noon when I had not received a call. The man that answered the phone was not helpful or professional at all. He refused ti transfer me to someone in claims or management. And said they were aware of the situation and that they would call me when they knew anything more. He was not courteous and refused to even address my concerns. He let me know clearly that he just wanted to get me off the phone. He was extremely condescending. I will not have any further work done by this company. They damaged my property and have done nothing to rectify the situation like I was promised when it happened.
Desired outcome: The driveway repaired immediately and a full or partial refund for services due to the length of time and amount of aggravation I have experienced.

On September 20, 2022, a plumber by the name of Demian Sendrey arrived at my property to unclog 2 clean outs: one for the kitchen, the other for the bathrooms. I paid $310.99 for a 3-hour job. But he only spent 1 hour trying to unclog the clean out for the bathrooms. He found out that the drain was clogged by the tree roots and could not unclog it with his power snake. So, he recommended to notify the city to fix it, since he suspected that the stoppage was in the city property. I asked him about the kitchen drain. He said that once the city fixes the drain from the bathroom, the kitchen drain would work. So, he did not snake the kitchen drain. The city sent plumbers to remove the tree roots and were able to unclog the drain from the bathrooms. But the kitchen drain was still clogged. So, I called, and asked Demian to comeback to finish the job. After calling him several times and leaving him a few text messages with photo of the kitchen clean out, he finally responded today, October 6, 2022, and he refused to finish the job.
Handyman Service
On 10/1 i booked a handyman through Joseph the booking agent at Angi's list. I needed four interior doors replaced. I was quoted $147 for two hours. I accepted & gave Joseph my address. I was told a handman would be out to me on 10/2 at 9:00 a.m. I accepted and was looking forward to having this work done. On 10/2 I see a text message from Marquise (handyman) asking if I was located in brooklyn or queens. I replied to him at 5:15 a.m. and gave him my address in Astoria (Queens). At 8:30 a.m. he sends me an email saying he is late and he will be closer to 10:00 a.m. I say that's fine. At 10:15 a.m. I text him asking where he is and he tells me he is having an issue with the cross street. I tried calling him twice and he did not pick up. He emails me and tells me the GPS has him in Bklyn and he is another 25 minutes away. I tell him I cannot do this as I am on a tight time frame. Immediately after that text I get an email from Angi's List saying they are going to charge me an additional $157 as I'm over the original time. I call Angi's List and explain to them and they tell me someone can come out Tuesday for the doors. I explain that is no good as I work and cannot afford to take off. They tell me they will not charge me the additional $157 but I also tell them I shld not have to pay for someone that never showed. An account specialist called me later that afternoon and told me I would not be charged anything. I just checked my credit card and sure enough I am being charged the original amount for work that was never done. This was a total scam.
Desired outcome: I want my money refunded. I shld not have to pay for work that was never done
Incomplete carpentry work
We hired Nick Gottwald, of Gottwald Custom Carpentry to resurface the cabinets and make any necessary improvements
After we paid him in full about 1/2 way thru that project he walked away from the job and did not refund anything.
This project was at our home in Hopkinton MA 01748
I have pictures of what was left behind and a witness who saw we paid him in full.
Desired outcome: We would like a refund of $3000 for the work that remains undone.

I have been trying for two days (ahead of my "project") to cancel. I was given the name of the person who would be doing the service. She has not answered! IN TWO DAYS! NO CALL BACK, NOTHING! AND NOW I AM CHARGED $25? SCAM SCAM SCAM! Job would have been on Oct 4, 2022 by someone named Stephanie with Handy Services. The number given to me by Angi was: [protected]. I have left 14 messages over two days. NO RESPONSE. And Angi says they can't resolve it & keep giving me the run around.

Unauthorized credit card charge
On August 26,2021 there was a service on Waltmart website. For a above ground pool install via Angi the cost total was $579.
00 and $34.74 in taxes with a total of $613.74 I canceled the service the next day thru Walmart and everything seem to be OK until I there was a charge of $613.74 from Angie in which I didn't notice on my bank statement months later I quickly begin calling Angi and Walmart to let them know that I was billed for a service in which I did not receive this was approximately around the month of June 2021 after 60 to 100 correspondence via phone text and chat and was finally given a reference # for my refund during the month of July 2022 . I been getting the run around fill with empty promises of a refund of $613.74. The vicious cycle begins again with the 4 to 6 weeks of promise of a $613.74 refund. After talking to my bank representative he said that Angi was using the empty promises as a stall tactic so it can go beyond the bank deadline to retrieve my refund Angi representatives were sending me emails and calls promising me 4 to 6 weeks for my refund and as of today I still haven't received a refund. Below is an example of over 50 to 100 emails I have received from Angi. My Bank, and 4 to 6 Walmart customer service has talk to and followed up with Angi and it was also told I would receive my refund between 4 to 6 weeks.

Unauthorized charge to my credit card on September 17.
I understood that my credit card was to confirm the contractor, which never should up. The work was never performed, I cancelled the arraingment via email on the 17th. Never heard back. I assumed that would be the end of it. I contacted the credit card company and filed a formal investigation. I am demanding an immediate credit of the full amount plus any accurred interest.

Specifically Sewer System work trying to take advantage of an old single woman – my sister
My sister, eighty years old, living alone, lost her husband about three months ago, and on Friday, July 29th,. 2022 the sewer in her house was backing up into the house, making a great big mess.
She called Auchinachie plumbing and they came right over. They tried to run a snake down thru the pipe and said they were not able to unplug it. They finally blasted the pipe and unclogged the blockage.
They then ran a camera thru it, watching the camera on a small hand held monitor, the size of a small cell phone.
They told her there was a ten foot section of pipe that needed replacing and she could run water thru it, but no paper or poop until the pipe was replaced.
They could do the excavating on Monday, August 1st and the cost would be ten thousand ($10,000) dollars unless they had to remove the wooden outside front steps to the house where the pipe ran under them. In that case it could cost as much as thirty thousand ($30,000) dollars (TOTALLY OUT OF LINE ! Should have been two thousand to no more than three thousand dollars, if it was even needed)
The charge for what they did so far was fourteen hundred ($1400) dollars, which she paid.
THANKFULLY I found out about this on Saturday, July 30th, and convinced her to call Auchinachie and tell them that she was going to get more estimates.
She did contact them and they said OK, but if they didn’t start Monday it would be over a week before they could do it.
I told her that I would head out first thing Monday and contact other contractors about the cost of the excavation and pipe replacement
First thing Monday, August 1st , I got ahold of another contractor and he said he had two guys he could get ahold of and be at her house in one hour to look at it.
When he got there she told him Auchinachie said they could email the camera video.
Contractor said, “no way”, he would run his own camera thru the pipe to see what he thought.
He had his workers set up a large TV size monitor in the house and ran his camera all the way thru the pipe to the road while they watched it on the monitor They then took the manhole cover off the town sewer in the middle of the road to make sure there was no blockage where the pipe connected to the town pipe.
ALL WAS CLEAR – NO BLOCKAGE, NO SIGN OF ANY BAD SECTION OF PIPE ! and they watched the camera as they pulled it back thru
NO EXCAVATION REQUIRED
His bill for the work he did ? one hundred and eighty ($180) dollars !
It has now been over two months and she has not had any problem.
Thankfully she listened to me and possibility saved thirty thousand dollars !. And a big “Thank You” this new contractor

I used a contractor recommended by Angi, this contractor was supposed to install new sod at my house. This contractor proceeded to take my money and never return, would not return calls or emails to my self or Angi. They said we had to use an arbitration service provided by them to get a refund, they neglected to mention that the contractor also had to be willing. So then they said we had to wait for management to convene to decide about our case. As of today its been almost two months after we paid the contractor and they informed us that they are unable to give a refund for services and we need to contact the contractor directly for a refund...as if that had not already been tried by us and Angi's. Honestly its not even that much money $1200 roughly, but its the medical bills of my asthmatic wife that have piled up after having a dirt patch instead of a yard. Honestly use any other site.

They should refund the money they are holding for the service they failed to provide, reinstate our account to active status.
We contracted with Angi services for regular bi-weekly cleaning of our home. On 9/7/22 they cancelled their appearance with only 20 minutes warning. We found out they had anyway charged our account. We contacted them right away and they promised us a refund of the charge, however, they did not do that. We contacted them again 1-2 more times over the subsequent 10 days and again they promised the refund, but did not do it. We filed a credit card dispute and they now say they will not refund our money for the service they did not provide until we "withdraw" the credit card dispute, which means we have to trust them to do what they have failed to do voluntarily and honorably, which is refund money for services they failed to provide. We do not believe they have any right to hold onto our money when they have not performed the contracted service, and charging us for a service they do not provide, and not refunding it despite multiple promises (and hours in chats or on the phone with them to try to get them to do the right thing) is, in our opinion, highly unethical. We have copies of multiple chat transcripts and emails to support our statement.
Repair washer
We called because we needed our washer repaired.John came out and said we needed shock absorbers? He said he would be back Monday to repair. Never came or called. My card was charged. He was here 15 minutes. Talked to representative Dan. Got aplan that saved me 20%. Asked Dan would we be charged if it was not fixed and he said no you will not be charged. Tried to call and text repairman on Tuesday but the number he called us from for directions was no longer in use. Please responde. Thanks

Contractor
I was scammed by a contractor referred by Angie's list. The guy convinced my wife to give him over $4,000 up front. They had an agreed date to begin and a date when the work was to be completed. Both of those dates have now come and gone and I've gotten nothing but lies and excuses from the contractor who at this point has just completely broken the agreement. We're still pursuing the contractor but I was informed by his wife that he is now in jail. Angie's list does not screen these people at all. Within a couple of hours I found the guy's criminal history and multiple reviews on him saying the same thing. He takes money and doesn't do the work. Angie's list needs to accept some responsibility seeing as they put my wife in touch with this crook. He lied to my wife about everything he told her about his company.
Desired outcome: I would like $4,400 refunded to me.
I was scammed by an Angi List Referral as well. The contractor came with a five star rating. He made a complete mess and lacked craftsmanship. I will never use Angi again!
I am being scammed by an hvac cleaning provider listed on Home Advisor/Angi as well. Breathe Easy, owner is Chris. I am disabled w/a muscle disease that affects my breathing & had Chris come to abate severe smoker smell damage & was very clear about the severity on our initial call. I was told on that call & when he arrived that I should not worry, he has seen worse & it would be fixed once he was done. Well, he pushed to be paid via a check & not cc. Now I know why. He dumped chemicals on my lawn which is not proper handling & which now requires me to replace sod per my community rules. He did not bring a wet vac. He did not use a camera to look inside my ducts. He did not use chemicals to abate tar inside the ducts but did run a brush. He spent less than a 1/2 running a brush inside the ducts. B4 leaving he blasted the outside of my ducts w/a germicide used in hosps w/strong odor. After about 24 hrs when that oder dissipated I smelled the same smoker smell very strong when I turned my heat on. I tried contacting Chris but was ghosted. I reached out to other companies & began asking about procedures and learned that a camera should have been used AND I should have been shown in realtime what was seen. I was informed about a process called capping & informed that every company offers a return visit to do this capping either again or for the first time at no additional fees and that I should keep trying to reach Chris since I paid $800 in full already. When Chris finally returned my call he then began a new story where I now should agree that I should just replace my hvac completely. Before even returning to do the capping process. He did agree I was sntitled for him to return at no fee to me for cappingI was also told he wasnt well and please give him time to get better. 2 wks l8r no call. Again I tried reaching him via txt and calls and was ghosted. Days l8r I got a brief call where he started to offer a day to return but then said he couldnt do it and would get back to me and he said he was better as well as his family being better. - wk goes by, no call. I called and couldnt seem to leave vm. I called again & he picked up, yelled at me “ I CANT TALK TO YOU!” And hung up. Next day I left him an iphone voice message. I offered any Tues/Fri/sat thru all of Feb. It was still end of Jan at this time.i also tried reaching one of the businesses that recommended him to ask them to help get him to simply come back. While I was doing that a vm came in and the transcript reads that he said “he was going crazy, and now had an employee in the hosp and he couldnt give me any dates at all.” I then had a friend call him to pose as a customer for service. Low and behold Chris had the very next Thurs/Fri available. Chris has a pattern of offering things and changing the terms. He had initially offered me $375 refund. Laughable. I didnt hire him to do partial work or wrong work. I cant hire a new company for that and now I am out of the money I could have hired a reputable company. But it gets worse. After contacting media who showed interest in the story, he agreed to refund me in full. A day later no refund to my Venmo. Chris then demanded I sign a letter he wrote stating he did work, i was just unsatisfied and only then would I get a refund. I consulted with friends and they said he was holding my money hostage and to agree to this demand only if he meet and hand over a cashier’s check for the letter. Chris refused these terms. He demanded letter first, then he will discuss with his accountant and then he claims how honest he is and I will get my money. I said no, I dont even agree that he did nothing wrong and he was unreasonable to think he would get a letter without handing me my money back. He further accused me in writing of being like someone who eats at a restaurant then says they didnt like the food and doesnt pay. I then went to Home Advisor/Angi. I showed all the screenshots backing all this up. He told them he will now only give me $450 bcuz I refused to write the letter.
In my opinion, There is a clear pattern of fraud/deceit and changing the goal posts as well as trying to blame me and call me a liar and thief.i will probably never see my money. He did this to someone with a muscular dystrophy and breathing problems on disability. This is Central Florida. Breathe Easy. He is in my opinion unscrupulous. Caviet Emptor.
Scam on ac replacement
I contracted with James Papa dba jp home renovations llc on January 9, 2022 for my air conditioning unit. I was told that I would need a new outdoor unit at that time. It was cold so I was told it would be March before the installation could be completed but he asked for total payment upfront. I called him in March to set a date for install but he was out of town. He did come to REPLACE the freon in the old unit and a switch to "keep it running" in April but no new unit. It is now September, 8 months later, and I still have no resolution with numerous attempts with no success to have the replacement completed. I am pursuing legal resolve at this time and would never recommend working with this company as he does not keep his promise. I have asked for return of my funds numerous times along with a completely itemized receipt of the work that has been done so far. Each time I have contacted him to finish the job he has made excuse after excuse and still no resolution.
Desired outcome: Return of $2880.38 u spent for 9 months if waiting for nothing. Broken agreements and no action to replace my ac unit. Lies, lies, lies
I agreed to pay $280.23 to have all the air ducts in my house & dryer duct cleaned.
On approximately 08.29.22, I hired a contractor through Angi to clean the air ducts in my house and the air duct to my dryer. I was quoted the cost $280.23 to clean all the air ducts in my house and the dryer air duct. On 09.17.22, a contractor showed up to my house with a small red shop vacuum. He spent almost two hours working on the dryer vent. Concerned a shop vacuum wasn't the correct equipment to clean the vents in my home, I told the contractor that cleaning the dryer vent was sufficient. I have seen other vent cleaning companies with vans with large industrial vacuuming systems to clean house vents, not a little red shop vacuum. When the contractor left, I asked him to tell Angi that he only cleaned the dryer duct and not the house vents. I was expecting to be billed for the work he performed.
Later that day I noticed my credit card was charged $280.23. I called and spoke to someone working at Angi's on 09.17.22 to dispute the charge. I was told that the contractor was scheduled to be at my home for only 3 hours. I was not aware there was a time limit for the contractor to complete his job. The Angi representative kept telling me how sorry she was that I didn’t know how the process worked. The Angi representative confirmed the contractor had been at my home for 2 hours. If I was paying by the hour, why did Angi charge for 3 hours work?! Since the contractor was at my home for only 2 hours, the Angi representative said that she would refund $91.00 plus change.
I did not get the service I paid for. I was expecting to have my air ducts and dryer duct cleaned for $280.23. Instead, I was charged $280.23 to have a dryer duct cleaned. I would never have agreed to pay $280.23 to have a dryer vent cleaned. Since I had to choose to have both the house ducts and the dryer vent cleaned separately, there must be separate costs for each service. I should only be financially accountable for the cleaning of the dryer duct and I don’t think the work the contractor did was worth $189.23 (280.23 – 91.00). I have already cancelled other jobs I have scheduled with Angi.
Desired outcome: I was charged $280.23 to have a dryer duck cleaned. I should only be financially accountable for the cleaning of the dryer duck.
ANGIES list
My wife (Kimberly Pernigotti) and I (Charles Ackles) are general contractors and have been working for ANGIES list for a couple of months now. We are very dissatisfied with the treatment we have received with the one of the jobs where we were leaving for a job and we got concealed on and Angie’s double booked us and then fined us for not showing up for one. On top of that these screen houses are taking 2 days not 6 hrs and my wife and I haven’t complained plus it’s frustrating not being able to talk to anyone we send and email and have to wait for your insensitive ride responses. So we aren’t going to do anymore jobs for you and I’m aware that whoever is reading this could care less so please have a great day and I’m sorry for venting on you.
Contractor for miscellaneous home repair
Contractor lied to us and said we hung up on him when he called, which was untrue since he rarely called. Hard to get in touch with and rarely showed up for work. Also stole items from our yard without our knowledge. He also tore up a block building on our property and said it was falling and he wanted the blocks for himself. We want everyone to know he is not reliable and gets young boys to do his work when we paid for his expertise. We don't want anyone to resolve this, we will get another contractor.
Desired outcome: Want customer to know he is unreliable , lies and steals right under your nose. Bad for older people. Contractor works in and around Clanton, Alabama

Handy Man, Robert Douglass, Complaint
Robert Douglass is a Contractor who works for Handy. This man started a project of installing faucets for our bathrooms. Mr. Douglass fail to complete the job. Mr. Douglass simply walked away from the job without any explanation. Mr. Douglass fail to return telephone calls and /or text. Mr. Douglass was paid for the faucet installation. He simply has walked away with our money without completing the job. This is theft. Please do not use this Handy person for your home project. He is listed with several companies as a Contractor, but, I caution you to select another Handy person. Mr. Douglass was hired estimated during August of 2022. Mr. Douglass has been missing in action for nearly two weeks. I am requesting a full refund plus damagings.

Carpet Cleaning
Hi there,
On September 12th 2022 carpet cleaning came 10am as per schedule and just before 12 noon she tells me it is almost 2 hours now and this shocked me since my initial booking was for the specific exposed areas only not moving any furniture etc and I was quoted $183 and some cents. So right then I called Angie and I was told it is for only 2 hours but initially when I booked I was not told that it will be HOURLY OR 2 HOURS ONLY? Since some areas were still left so I agreed to pay another hour and at this moment I was quoted after my membership discount total of $286.15 which Angie confirmed.
So up till then was fine and yesterday morning(09/13/2022) I noticed an extra charge of $93.81 in my card so I started calling Angie and since then till this morning I am not getting this matter resolved and even one of the Angie's list booking representative confirmed that it is an extra charge as 3 hours is already included in $286.15 as confirmed the day of service(09/12/2022).
Desired outcome: I have wasted so much of my time in dealing with this issue so please honor and credit my $93.81 back into my card.
