dead people
It was amazing to read that ANYTIME FITNESS still wanted to bill a dead person. I can almost feel the anguish that this caused the relatives. One would think that any company would have the compassion to stop the billing once someone was reported as being dead. I wonder how they hoped to collect the money? A follow up comment or update by the person whose relative died and was still being charged would be interesting. Just to see how or IF it was finally resolved. I wouldnt be surprised by anything that this company tried to do to get money.
will drive you into the ground
The ### never stop. They sued the former owner of Anytime in Ortley Beach New Jersey. Even though he is suffering from Multiple Sclerosis, Anytime and their ### lawyers sued him in Minnesota. They are the most heartless ### on the face of the earth. They are the most vindictive company I have ever seen. They have no compasion or regard for personal freedoms or personal rights. Anyone who does businesss with them deserves what they get. If you have a problem, don texpect them to help you. If your franchise fails you can expect them to try to get every dollar form you no matter what your situation. They do not care and have no human compassion. They are ###.

cancellation problems
I wish I would have found this board before I joined - I moved away from the gym location several months ago. I did was I was supposed to do, sent in writing that I wish to cancel my auto renewal because I moved and the closest gym is 17 miles away. Luckily I kept a copy of the letter that they e-mailed me on August 11th stating it is all taken care of. My last charge should have been on Nov. 1. I just checked my December statement and what do ya know there is a charge from ABC Financial. I got no where with ABC, so I now have the charge in dispute with my cc company. What a Merry Christmas!

Anytime Fitness - franchises - and the real scam artist ABC Financial are not to be trusted. Don't give them your credit card or debit card information - it will take months to a year to stop them by normal means. If you like the gyms - then pay month to month in cash. If you need to stop payment - do their "write a letter" process then immediately call your bank and bar ABC Financial.
franchise purchase
After reading the numerous complaints about Anytime Fitness, primarily, surrounding local franchises, it is not difficult to understand the reason so many customers of these franchises have had such difficulty. I recently, with a partner, attempted to purchase a franchise for sale in Hollywood, Florida, and it became clear almost from the very beginning of our transaction with Anytime Fitness that we were not dealing with professionals at best, and and worst, we were dealing with a totally incompetent and irresponsible staff, particularly their Vice President of Real Estate and Asset Sales. [I would have no problem using his name, but I want to make sure that the monitors of this site don't remove my complaint.] In common street language, they had a very easy time talking out of both sides of their mouth at the same time. It's no wonder that this unprofessional and unethical behavior and mode of operation hasn't filtered down to the franchise owners of whom so many customers have complaints. The Anytime Fitness staff as well as the franchise owner refused to provide my partner and I with tax returns from the past three years that the gym has been in operation. The staff at Anytime sent us an Asset Purchase Agreement with a price with places for our signatures WITHOUT consulting the current franchise owner then had the audacity to imply that my partner and I initiated that effort though the document came from Anytime Fitness. The staff at Anytime gave us the phone numbers and contacts of the real estate management company, the lessors of the equipment and the management software necessary to operate the gym under the regulations set forth by Anytime, the furniture, and security devices; all equipment which leases that my partner and I would have had negotiated with in either buying out or assuming the lease from the current bankrupt franchise owner. After giving us that information, and POSTING it on their home website, again, had the audacity to attempt to prohibit us from contacting those people. Moreover, they went on to spread rumors with the current franchise holder about us that were totally untrue.
The people running the operation at Anytime Fitness of Hastings, MN, are at best incompetent and unethical, and at worst engaged in activities that bordered on the illegal though I cannot prove that nor am I accusing them of that. My only thanks is that I am no longer engaged in negotiations with the bankrupt owner of the Anytime Fitness of Hollywood, Florida, nor with Anytime Fitness corporate of Hastings MN.
The bottom line: don't associate with Anytime Fitness in any manner, or form. As a potential investor, don't get involved; as a potential customer, don't join. In short, stay away from this organization for your own peace of mind.

Gym was Good but washroom not clean properly, gym smelling always, trainers are not helpful they all are busy own way, their personal training and girls. More than half trainers only busy to talking girls so girls don't waste your money to talk them. Half of the AC not working, Wake up your Gym and special Rudra Tariner in any Time fitness sarfdarjang enclave is very very bad attitude.
I have to support and agree with what you say about their Real Estate arm. Completely incompetent and they won't protect the interest of the lessees. They lost several opportunities for us. Horrible experience.
rip off
Anytime fitness is a horrible gym. Besides the fact that you can not get any help from anyone that works there. They currently did not cancel my membership months ago like they "said they did" and now they are saying that I owe them $129.35. They will not return my calls, respond to my emails and they even ignored my complaint with the Better Business Bureau. It is independately owned so no one there has been trained on how to manage the business or how to take care of their customers. Do not use this gym! They are horrible!
My husband and I have been a member of Anytime Fitness (Martinsburg, WV) for over 2 years. In July, both debit cards in which we were paying expired and we were issued new ones. Anytime Fitness was no longer able to debit the amount and we were no longer interested in being members. Well, we just assumed that for lack of payment, they would just cancel us. NO! The thieves continued to charge us through letters drawn up by ABC Financial for not only monthly charges, but service charges and late fees! So, I contacted the location directly to cancel my membership, paid up and thought my hands were clean of them. Just found out today, that I still owe them an additional $78.00 because I did not give them 30 days notice of my cancellation! The rep at the location failed to give me that little tid bit of information yesterday before we hung up. So, I contacted the corporate location. Who so rudely informed me that if I read my contract, that it's all there. I am so angry with them! Beware of this company! They will take your money and not think twice. I will never deal with them again and I warn anyone out there thinking of coming under contract with them. They are thieves! Go somewhere else that has more to offer anyway! This gym is a joke. They don't have enough equipment and then charge you like their an LA Fitness or Gold's Gym. HA! So far from it. I always felt like I was in a race to get there so that I could get the machine I wanted. Just don't join!
anytime fitness i cancel my acct. i even use it and they we not give my money back . i got acct. on [protected] to cancel it [protected] and i got money back
You're calling them thieves for charging you for non-payment? You were incredibly irresponsible, and they have every right to charge you.
I just give them a fake social security number sign of for 2 years then quit after a month or two after I get lazy. So easy never give your social ...heheheh
I agree with Complaint should be removed. ...
Yeah...right...because of "Lack of Payment they [should] just cancel us"...Wow!... that is an amazing phylosophy... hmmm...I think I will give my Doctors office some old credit card info that was cancelled a month ago..and maybe even a bad address..so that they will no longer be able to bill me? they should cancel me then ..right?... I mean really, I don't even have a Contract with my doctor.. Better yet I will do that with my surgeon.. I mean it isn't like I am buying something I can touch and feel with these guys... right?.. or am I off base here?
Just another example of someone that does not utilize the gym and then wants to blame. You had no complaints about the Anytime Fitness until you willing did not update your billing nfo and assumed your member agreement details would not continue...hmmmm... Maybe i will try that with my car payment, cell phone, credit cards or mortgage?! ALL people that use Anytime Fitness seem to like Anytime Fitness... You never see a complaint posted by an active member.
hipaa violation / refusal to cancel membership
I belonged to anytime fitness in groton massachusetts for 3 years. I was a loyal fitness customer, loyal to the site and on time with payments. In september of 2010 i had emergency breast surgery to remove a breast lump. I was told by my surgeon to take the gym off to recover. Subsequent from my surgery i developed a musculoskeletal condition effecting my...

I signed a 2 year contracted with the anytime fitness and I was delighted with them until I moved across town. I moved and then I decided to check out the anytime fitness near my new place. I went in and spoke with the manager about signing up a friend and was unable to get a clear answer about a new membership and my own. I'm still paying to use the club...

I called Desiree at Kenosha 18th street Anytime fitness to find out how to cancel my membership. She told me that I could not cancel my membership and that if I was unable to pay my membership dues that I would be sent to collections. I explained to her that I was looking into doing a bill consolidation plan that would not include a gym membership in their program and that I would need to cancel my membership. She told me that was not a reason to cancel a membership. She was so rude! I am sorry that I joined this club because you are locked in once you join. There are no early out options. I would have paid an early cancellation fee. My advice is Do Not Join a club that forces you to remain locked into a commitment. Anything can happen in a two year time frame and You are truly LOCKED IN.
DO NOT JOIN THIS CLUB!
Unhappy at Anytime, I am truly sorry about your specific circumstances. I would recommend that if you did not get a solution, you would escalated the issue to a higher manager. It is unfortunate that she could not help you since they are trained in dealing with these types of circumstances. Nevertheless, Anytime Fitness' intentions were not to workout a deal that left both of your in a bad place. They are an accountability club and they are suppose to hold you accountable to exercise and to your promise of a long time fitness journey. Adversity, including financial hardships, happen in life - and they have effectively managed to help many of their members. If your issue was never resolved. I invite you to stop by again.
don't believe
Since joining, tanning bed hasn't worked, took months to fix but had to pay. FOB card doesn't work for many reasons they tell you, but still I pay. New equipment already broke, but they take my money. The managers/ trainers charge for classes they run, overcharge for training, they run, get a cut of supplements they sell, and promote themselves and their own training company and get paid from that. Members let non-members in after hours. Not safe no matter how many cameras. Don't sign a contract! Owner gives the run around when contacted. Read before you join
tanning bed, dull bulbs
I have been going to Anytime Fitness for several months, I pay for Tanning in my membership...I cant Tan because the BULBS are old & DULL so why have they not been changed ... many of us have said something about this and still nothing is done! So do I ask for a refund or get all of the other people together & make them change the BULBS or give all our money back ...PLEASE HELP
P.S. MANAGER IS A GOOD GUY, WE JUST WANT WHAT WERE PAYING FOR ...

Most States have a tanning regulator employed somewhere.. In SC it is in the State Department of Health. Would recommend you call them with the complaints. They will inspect them.
threatened w/mbrsp cancellation
I became a member of this club prior to them even opening their doors, so as a promotion, my family received a low monthly rate that was locked in for as long as I continue to be a member. Well, over the past 5 years, this club has been losing money due to a terrible sales staff and stiff competition in the local area, and to recoup the losses, have been...
Read full review of Anytime FitnessI cancelled service and still got billed!!
This place has the worst customer service I have dealt with. I canceled service 4 months ago and got a call from a credit agency trying to collect a debt of 180.00 dollars today. Give me a break I have not even used the gym since February, ughh the nerve of some businesses. Oh well best advice get a membership where the company actually cares about their customers. So now they want me to give them information to a problem that I solved (or thought I did) months ago. And thanks to these idiots it is going to go on my credit report.
Same thing happened to me. I agree. Anytime Fitness run by ### who are after every cent. They don't give a crap about customer satisfaction.
billing
I canceled my membership in October of 2007 after my 1 year contract was up. I was told that everything was handled. I was billed the following month. I called and was told it would be taken care of. Just in case, I filed a dispute with my bank. At the time, they were using Apex for billing, they changed to ABC Financial and I was billed in November for...

I totally agree with the post that I have been reading. I do not think the gym is for me because I can not handle the machines. The thing I can do is walk on the treadmill which I have a treadmill in my own home. I have tried to cancel my contract and to no advail. The person I signed up with was a fast talking guy, Abel in Abilene, Tx. Please let me know if there is any way to get out of this with losing half of my money. Supposably, after 3 months it could be done! Not so far. Thank you, RD
avoid them
The business was just purchased by a new owner (Reid) and the place was let go to the point where the same trash that was left on the floor, would be there 3 to 4 days later. No soap, paper towels and equipment is always very dirty. And I am not that picky either! So, I opted to move to another location. He got mad and canceled my membership Feb 2nd, but still charged me for the entire month. He refuses to credit me for the entire month I was not permitted to use the facility.
The owner is impossible to talk to, and feels like he is King *** there. I was at that location for almost two years and was pleased until he bought the place. I later found out he is part owner of the West St. Paul location as well. That story will be posted as well. Avoid both locations!

WSP has a completely different owner and the atmosphere here is great. All the members here are happy and all are working hard to achieve that healthy lifestyle in and out of the gym
invasion of privacy
My wife joined to tan and workout, cool. Well little did she know the Trainer there went though her personal belongings and got our address, her cell number and where we live. The only way we found out was the girlfriend of this trainer called my wife to ask why she was sleepn with her man. Sounds like some good drama, LOL. Not to make it sound funny cuz its not its very scary and the kicker is the Manager is good friends with this Trainer..So dont go to Anytime Fitness in Camby, IN

anytime is the worst facility i have belonged to(extremely limited selection of equipment, no upgrades or new equipment, high pressure sales based on greed and quotas). it is far better to support a locally owned fitness center (core fitness club in mooresville) instead of a place like anytime. anytime is like a cancer that floods the marketplace with mediocre locations and makes its profit on revolving door personal trainers. before signing up with anytime, planet fitness, ymca, ect... please consider locally owned, independent fitness centers.
Well put! If you invest time you will get results. The people who see the results don't have the time to sit here and ###. I have used ubf and have no complaints. I'm step.Ger and healthier than ever before!
We were misled about UBF. When we signed up with Anytime Fitness and UBF we explained that we were moving soon and would not be staying at that location. They explained that it was no problem and that we could use any Anytime Fitness (which is true) and our training sessions would transfer. Well, we've moved and the 3 Anytime Fitness's closest to us (within 5 minutes) don't use UBF. So, instead of attempting to work with us they want us to drive 25 minutes to the closest one that has UBF. Had we known this we never would have signed a contract. On top of that the trainer I got can't remember my name or my injury after 5 months of training and uses half of my training session to text people and talk to other clients and the other half to try to sell me on buying more sessions. This was my first time hiring a trainer and I must say I'm really disappointed.
To jwilk: Anytime fitness and ultra body fitness are separate companies. If you don't like UBF make a new post. My response to your post is this: You seem to know a good deal about the training sessions. They are 45 minutes, and our fitness director does paint a very good picture of fitness and what it does for ones life. The picture is true. As a personal training company UBF provides very talented and dedicated personal trainers to help clients stay motivated, work harder and be successful. If a client isn't successful because they do not make the necessary changes to their lives outside of those 45 min sessions then that is on the client. Trainers can help you, answer questions and give guidance but they cannot force you to live healthy. How can the company be more thorough? And saying that a company is a scam because they make money is funny. Ya know what is more funny? The fact that a client who is successful and fully uses the sessions to their advantage pays as much as the person who doesn't. They just don't complain cause they are too busy bettering themselves.
To anytimesux: I guarantee you are not going through " the same situation" as we have only ever had that one issue which was disputed, never proven and handled.
In my opinion the company is only interested in the marketing of personal training and signing people up. After the clients have signed a years contract they seem to be ignored by the company. They usually sign up for the cheapest option, which is a once a week 45 min personal training session, and yet are under the assumption that it will lead them to reach their goals. At this point its up to the trainer (a person that is not even recognized as an employee on the company’s taxes) to help the clients reach their goals. In my experience, like most Americans, the clients are looking for a quick fix. They ignore nutrition advice and recommendations about exercising on their own. They come to their once a week 45 min moderate intensity exercise training session and expect to see results. Of course they never do, and they cannot cancel because they are bound by contract. If they complain they are given the run around and still charged monthly. When they sign up the sales person paints a beautiful picture of their potential and once they hand over their bank account number it is done. The program is not invasive nor thorough enough for the clients to reach their fitness potential. Probably because the company does not want to pay the trainers what it would take to for them to implement what is advertised. Therefore I believe that this company was designed to make money, and in my opinion it is a scam.
What was the trainers name? I am going through the same thing. That company is a joke
As the manager of Anytime Fitness we looked into the complaint and were unable to substantiate any of the accusations. I believe we did handle this situation correctly trying to make all parties happy. We contract with Ultra Body Fitness to provide personal training to our clients and feel as though they do a great job servicing our clients.
guess aspect of the seffner anytime fitness
Hello all I’ve been a member of Anytime Fitness for 3 years now and I travel all over the country for my company (telecommunications engineer). Therefore, I enjoy the fact that I can walk into any ATF to workout. The other day I renewed my contract at my home location and when you renew it may drop you out of the National system when updating their database...

they breed some sort of culture of manipulation and lies in order to make a buck. it's old world america, folks, it's evil and rotten and one day we'll all feel bad for the wastes of life who tried to shill and hustle their sad way to the top by pulling this bull. just stay away, please. go to a place where real community is supported and nurtured, and you're respected and encouraged to grow. that's what gyms are for, right?

I very much agree. Anytime fitness is full of aweful management idiots who don't know what they're doing or talking about. They broke our contract yet we are unable to cancel it. They are very rude and unwilling to admit they wronged you and try to make up lies to justify their actions.
ripoff con artists
M e and my fiance joined AnyTime Fitness in October 2009 and they explained "all" of the rules and so forth, as well as stating that you could cancel anytime as long as you pay a fee.
We simply agreed and signed up.
In December they tried to Charge my bank for that month before they were supposed to and therefor the money was not yet in the bank. I wasn't contacted by them and I assumed all was well so I put the money in the bank so hey could take it out on the date they had been taking it out before.
A week went by and the money was still in the bank but I figured they were just having tech problems. They contacted me two days after I found out the money was still in the bank. I explained to them that I was told before the date the money would be taken out, and they said I was wrong even though they had been taking it out on the date I knew of since my service began.
I went into the gym to pay in cash in person so that it didn't take long to process that way. I put $30 in my bank because I was saving it for gas to get back and forth to my new job, and when I went to take it out one morning before work because the tank was on empty I found a NEGATIVE BALANCE! Those theives had charged my bank 4 days after I paid them in cash in person.
I was so furious I immediately called them after calling the bank, (to see why my balance was negative).
They said that they did NOT charge me twice and I told them how I called my bank and found out it was them, they quickly apologized, realizing their "mistake" and said I should have my refund back into my bank in like 3 weeks.
I told ABC Financial that it was almost Christmas, I needed to get back and forth to my job and they TOOK the money I was going to use for gas, so I needed the refund now.
Keep in mind while reading that my membership is $75 a month, I had $30 in the bank. That means I get one of those wonderful over-draft fees.
I called the gym itself and explained how I couldn't wait just because of their "mistake". They called me into the office, and tried to say I owed them the money that they took, so therefor now I owed them nothing and they owed me nothing.
I wasn't going to leave with that type of response because I knew who was right and who was wrong. She called ABC Financial and they told her she was wrong. They told her they charged me twice and that I could either receive a refund or I could leave the payment and not have to pay for January.
I said I needed the refund and they issued me one.
Three days later, I was checking my bank status, and found that they had refunded my bank as well. So I went back to owing them money for December. ABC Financial called shortly after and said I had a late fee for not paying the gym!
THEY CHARGED ME 2X AND REFUNDED ME 2X! PLUS LATE FEES AND OVER DRAFT FEES FROM THE BANK AND ALL THE STRESS AND FRUSTRATION!
I immediately called and asked the woman at the gym to remind me again how much it was to cancel my membership.
She told me that there was no way to cancel it unless I move far away from a place with an AnyTime Fitness or to get a doctors note saying that me and my fiance could no longer work out.
I then found out, that if you have a bill in your name they will know, I have my dads phone bill in my name as his Christmas present last year and I can't change that, so moving wasn't an option, and me and my fiance, being in great health conditons, couldn't get notes. Even if we could, they would wait, and wait, and wait until we could to so graciously let us complete our membership.
THESE PEOPLE ARE MONEY HUNGRY SHARKS. I WOULD NEVER RECOMMEND THIS PLACE TO ANYONE! UNLESS I HATED THEM.
BE WARNED! THEY ARE VICIOUS!
