membership issue
I have been a member with Anytime Fitness for over a year now and the manager, Jeremy, of Waite Park, MN has wrongly accused me of letting in a non-member. I asked for proof of this incident, as I know it never happened, and he rudely hung up on me. He discontinued my access to the Waite Park gym, while I still have months left in my contract.
This all started in January when I temporarily moved to Minneapolis for four months. I switched my home gym membership to the Minneapolis gym for parking reasons. Jeremy took this as an insult and is now making false accusations. Jeremy has never liked me from the beginning and has been consistently rude.
A year ago, when I first signed up I used his gym in Waite Park for the 7 day free trial while I was still going to Fargo on weekends to visit my girlfriend. I signed up in Fargo because my girlfriend would receive a month free, and I would be using the gym in Fargo every weekend. Jeremy took this personally and has never like me since. Me moving my home gym to Minneapolis tripped his tipping point and he is now making false accusations, which he cannot prove.
I would like to cancel my membership, as I am paying for something I cannot use, but the only way to do this is to go through the gym manager, Jeremy, but he doesn't speak to me and hangs up on me.
service/cancel
I recently moved from Baraboo, WI to Eau Claire, WI due to some medical issues that require me to work part time vs. full time salary. I had my membership transferred to Eau Claire but I am in financial hardship and am not using my membership like I want to. I called the gym on Water Street and the man I spoke with was the rudest person I have ever conversed with. I simply asked what their cancelation policy is and he laughed and said this isn't one and that I would need to pay out my remainding balance of over $600. He repeatedly said this isn't his fault and said he could transfer my membership back to Baraboo so he "wouldn't have to deal with me." I asked him to keep it as is and then he said "I'm going to put a 3 month freeze on your account so you can get your stuff figured out." He said there wasnt anyone else I could talk and that he was thr one to make the decison. I wish I could remember all of the snarky and rude comments he said to me but I was so surprised and angry that someone in customer service would treat me like that. I called Baraboo after my conversation with the Eau Claire gym in tears and Veronica the manager was so kind and helpful. She listened to my concerns and empathize with me. She was able to process a cancelation with me with a lower fee which was greatly appreciated.
Not only does the Eau Claire gym have poor managment, the gym itself is dated and the tanning beds always have lights burnt out and the top either closes really hard or doesn't stay upositive and crashes down on you. Their equipment is very old and they don't have the virtual room while they charge the same amount per month as Baraboo which is a fantastic facility that is kept up very well.
I hope that this comment reaches the right people who can hopefully make a change in Eau Claire for the better.
I am a member
My name is kamran bashir i am a member of anytime fitness in Fallon NV 89406 and i did recomend my family and lots of friends to go there when they opened in Fallon around 3 years ago my brother is also member there and lots of friends. But i am going to cancel my membership no more because the girl works there is rude to me i was on tredmill walking and using my smart phone and watching indian tv show in hindi language in low volume walking on a tredmill she came to me and stopped me and said i should use microphone in my ears to listen this and no body was there gym was almost empty. I said thats rude i will cancel my membership thats rude and she forced me to sign a cancelation paper i said i will talk to your owner first and i left.
being charged after contract was done
Signed up for 2 year contract. In person was told couldn't cancel, would have to sell my membership if needed to cancel.
Not long after signing up it was discovered my husband had fairly serious health condition. and then I also received diagnosis for my other of LB dementia. needless to say, a gym was not in my future. I could not find anyone to take over the membership. so had to check off to a lesson learned about signing any contracts.
2 months after contract expired I was verifying a charge on credit card and realized I was still charged for a 'membership'. I went on website and emailed the business office. I explained had gotten charged after contract expired. I had never used the service, I would not ever be able to use the service and did not renew my contract and wanted them to cease taking payments.
I admit I was not diligent checking back.
I was charged an additional 2 years. and this was without ever setting foot in the gym. When contacted by ABC, only after credit card company reissued different care due to fraudulent charges happening to many customers, making the charges finally stop.
and now they have the nerve, after explained on phone to company that not only did I not owe anything, they owed me refund. (I know that is funny).
I will dispute these charges forever. It seems like financial blackmail, we will make you pay or it will hurt your credit rating.
still being billed 7 months after attempting to cancel!
When my daughter and I first joined Anytime Fitness I was told that we could stop for the summer since we would be going away and not able to use the gym. The person who originally signed us up said it would be no problem as long as I notified them before the billing date. We Joined on a month to month basis. I made the big mistake of giving my credit card info. Our payment was automatically billed every month. In July I went into the club on Tuesday July 5th, 2016. There I was told that I could not put the membership on hold, but would have to quit and rejoin when we returned. He also told me that they needed 30 days notice. This was NOT what I was told when I joined. I was unable to cancel in person, at the club that day. He said I needed to send an e-mail in order to cancel. I DID send an e-mail on JULY 7TH letting them know I was cancelling. Three months later we realized that we were still being billed. I tried to call Anytime Fitness, but could never get through. I probably tried about 8 times. All I got was a busy signal. I filed a payment dispute with DISCOVER. I sent them a copy of the original e-mail etc. I thought it was done, but my husband, who pays the bill, realized we are STILL being billed!
I went to the gym in person, but the manager said he could not help me. I got the owner’s number, called him and was told that there’s a special form to be filled out in order to cancel. I WAS NEVER TOLD THIS AT THE CLUB! The owner refused to refund me for the time when we never stepped foot in his club.
I Now have another dispute claim with DISCOVER card.
I WOULD WARN ANYONE who is thinking about joining ANYTIME FITNESS! I have read many similar complaints about them online! I wish I had seen these first!
not honoring one month free membership
Our year contract was up so visited Anytime Fitness (Henderson, New Zealand) to return fob key and have memberships cancelled. Were told to phone up, which we did the following day. Was told we had to give one month notice. When we joined we had one month free membership given and that was to be our final month. Now told we can’t do this and when we asked to speak to manager he said would sort but had staff rang me back to say we had to pay the 30 day cancellation. We then rang again on the 16th Jan 17 to speak with owner twice, but he was busy we left messages and on last call told staff member would come in after work to discuss the last month being free. When arrived was told by owner I didn’t have appointment so he couldn’t spare me five minutes to discuss stopping the payments I was extremely frustrated at this point that this was going nowhere & verbalized this (yes, angrily) at which point he had me arrested and trespassed from the gym, but is still happy to take my money for the next month. All we want is the gym to honor the free month membership we were given when joined the gym, instead of charging the month cancellation. Can anyone help resolve this?
membership cancellation
I have completed all the required forms to cancel my membership in Bullhead City, AZ. I was relocated and Logan, WV does not have Anytime Fitness. I was told canceling my membership would not be an issue. I've had three additional payments taken out since that conversation. I have followed up with management three times and I'm finished. I'm posting here, which based on the complaints I read is pretty common. I'm also posting on Yelp and any other site I can find. The BBB with will be my final phone call.
You gave them your credit card number, didn't you? That's where you made your mistake. Cancel that card and get a new one. They will continue to bill you until you do, and there is no way you can ever get that money back. These gyms are flim-flam outfits that feast on gullible 20 and 30-somethings who don't know any better. They've been doing this for years. Never EVER give any of these gyms your CC. If they won't take cash, walk!
fees
I had a membership to anytime fitness and I didnt like it so I stopped going I wanted to cancel it but the cancelation fee was ridiculous, so i decided to just let it expire, but somehow it got renewed even though I told the people I didnt want it renewed. This has been an ongoing problem and since my bank account got hacked and my credit card had to be changed the manager keeps calling me to fix my membership that I dont even want. Please Help sort this out.
dishonesty and fraud
I am sharing my complaint letter to anytime fitness corporate
To whom it may concern:
I am writing this letter in the hopes that it reaches someone out there who can understand the plight of the majority of clients who leave anytime fitness. I’m sure you have heard this before but I am angry, I was swindled and roped into signing a year - long contract. I left your facilities without having said contract even furnished as a copy to me and when asked about it told something about a printer and email but I still have yet to receive a copy (Is it standard practice to have your customers sign a contract without letting them see it and giving nothing but word and assurances that turn out to be lies?) I was given a little led machine and stylus, signed up for a pipe dream and am now left with this sick feeling in the pit of my stomach. Your very eager college boy salesman who assured me that I could cancel for the price of 50 bucks anytime if I was dissatisfied and then went a step further and said I could freeze my account too if I necessary as long as I had a doctor’s note or some other valid excuse succeeded in selling me on the deal. I was hesitant to sign but with the thought that I could cancel for the price of one month membership I put aside my reservations and inked the deal. But the deal turned out to be a fraud. That overly eager boy failed to mention that yes I could pay 50 bucks to cancel but there was stringent limitations to this. I have to have moved 15 miles away and not have another anytime fitness near me? What? That is the utmost ridiculous thing I have ever had the misfortune to hear. How are y’all going to place limitations on my life like that ? It’s a lie, a sin of omission if you please. My little sales associate casually left that little part out. He also neglected to mention that when the account needs to be frozen you can only freeze for up to 3 months. . So if someone signs up for your gym and is dissatisfied they are not allowed to leave and are bound financially to you. You force us to sign up for autopay and then dutifully charge our card every month whether we want your services or not. What if that customer that signed up for that 1 dollar month then decided after that month that the place is not for them. The machines are dirty and they don’t like how there never seems to be someone on staff around when needed. Feels more like a college hangout spot then a fitness center. The machines are in disrepair and regularly broken. The grimy film on some of them looks as if it’s been since the reagan administration since the place had a good cleaning. Sometimes it takes a good month or two to realize that this gym is not what you thought it would be and you’d rather run circles around your living room 100s of times with all three of your babies screaming and your husband complaining and dog barking then work out there. And furthermore the dishonesty and the lying leaves me with a bad taste in my mouth. I do not like doing business with companies that aren’t upfront and honest. Stand by your product and it speaks for itself. Google anytime fitness and you’re inundated with the same complaints from angry disalussioned dissatisfied customers. Does that leave a sour taste in your mouth like it does mine? I do not like to sit here writing a letter detailing how dissatisfied I am with a company and be told that I have no choice but to take it. This is not how someone who wants to stay in business operates. And frankly all of you there who represent this company need to take a look at how you are running the place and tighten the ship up. If you care about making anytime fitness a success that lasts I mean. But if your main goal is to make a few quick bucks then disappear in a quick blaze of glory then by all means. Keep running things the same. I suggest y’all do a complete overhaul of staff, equipment and what you stand for. Are you committed to fitness and giving people a healthier way of living or are you just looking to be another fly by night forgotten company? Ok well now that I have ranted and vented and got that out let me give you the gist of my dilemma with anytime fitness. And if nothing comes of this other then me letting off steam fine. But if someone up there in the administration who has some pull is sickened by the practices of some of your employees and actually reads this and cares then do something about it. Fix the sinking ship that is anytime. Maybe staff needs to be trained more, maybe more staff is needed. I don’t know what the answer is I can only say my experience with this gym and I can only speak from my point. Ok so I signed up after I had my child in 2016 with the desire to lose my extra baby weight. I have three kids. The littlest is now one. I signed up I believe in march or april of 2016. There was a one dollar promo being advertised on the radio. One dollar sounded great. I had my three year old with me when I stopped by. I had no babysitter it was that or nothing. Your employee said the manager was busy and he would walk me thru. He did fast. My kid was into everything. I was a little rushed. He was rushed. She was being loud. He never gave me a tour of the facility. He gave me two prices for a 1 year membership and a 18 month. He never even gave me the tanning options. Perhaps my pale irish skin and freckles convinced him I would not be needing a tanning (Lol) anyway I thought it a little fast and didn’t understand how one month for one dollar means I have to sign up then and there for a year. I asked him about that. I said one dollar is great to try a place out but what if I hate it after a month. Which is when it became his turn to explain how I can cancel for 50 some odd dollars blah blah blah.. God forbid I am injured and have a doctor’s note or something else happens I can put my account on hold. I believe he said for as long as is needed. He certainly never told me a hold can only last for no more than three months. Even when my husband lost his job and I called in tears and put my account on hold was I told that I only had three months of holding. I was shocked in august to see two charges one on the 15th then another on the 28th then a late charge. And when I called in tears saying its between anytime fitness and formula for my child. I am a stay at home mom with an out of work husband I was told by shayla I believe that sorry the only recourse you have is try to sell you’re bogus unwanted account to some other schlep. No offense but no one wants this damn albatross. I resent the fact that you are now sending me bills for three months of charges when I have called repeatedly and been trying to cancel since august. So now you want to charge me for something that I am not even using or want? If it wasn’t for the fact that hiring a lawyer would cost a small fortune just to get out of a few hundred dollars of charges i’d sue in a heartbeat. In fact I am almost considering doing it just for the point. What is being done is not only illegal but highly immoral and someone needs to take a stand and stop the unfair business practices your company is perpetuating. I am unbelievably embittered towards your company at this time. Thank you and if anything further is required please don not hesitate to contact me.
Kind regards,
Jenny mccain
cancelling membership
They will not let you cancel your membership. I went into the facility and spoke to one of the employees and he was very friendly and told me no problem, we will cancel your membership, you need to fill out x y and z. I did so. I then asked him to remove all payment methods, he said he had, then 3 weeks later I was charged for another month and now in disputes with them because they will not stop charging my account after trying to cancel it. I had to report fraud with my bank because they will not stop trying to run ACH payments and I wrote them a letter stating they no longer had approval to do so, but they ignored this and continued running ACH payments.
Stay far away, the gyms are way too small and not worth these headaches. I wouldn't recommend to anyone.
cancelled membership still paying
My husband and I joined the Anytime fitness in Carrolllton, Va. in October 2014. After a year we where moving and decided to terminate membership. I went in the gym and spoke directly to a lady named Cindy who told me, "No problem just write a letter stating you wish to cancel with your name and husbands name included and date it. " Asked her if husband could bring in, she said sure. And my last draft from your account would be Jan. 28, 2016. (Letter dated January 4, 2016.) Husband went by gym they scanned letter and gave back original which I still have. Thought matter was done! But they have been taking out money every month total$647.82. Called and now being told that there is a termination form and their process works well. But they will cancel anyway! Asked for her managers name or email she didn't comply. I want answers and money back!
trying to cancel for months. no staff during staffed hours at all
I have been trying to cancel my membership for several months. I am month to month so I have no annual contract. I have come in on several occasions to cancel my membership. There has been no one staffing this location for several months now. I was told that there is no longer a manager or anyone that is running this location and that I can not be helped...

Dear Sir/Madam,
I, along with so many, have been a very loyal customer of your company for the past years. I have time and again received great service which is one of the main reasons I go straight to one of your offices to avail once again. But to my surprise, I didn’t get what I expected and having a hard time until now.
I applied 3 lines of MyDSL Biz, 15mbps at Las Pinas office in front of the City Hall but when they come to install it, I was surprised that the technician only installed a 9mbps! He even showed me a proof, a text message, saying our service order is just for 9mbps. Since we are on a very tight schedule, I accepted that holding the words of the agent I spoke to that it can be upgraded in a month, without a fee. It is just one line and 2 more will be installed on Wednesday, as per the technician. And it will also be a 9mbps speed!
When I spoke to the agent, she told me of this Plan for ONLY ₱ 3, 000 a month. But when I received a call yesterday, October 15, from a customer service agent, she said that I have to pay for ₱ 3, 000 and ₱ 1, 410 (which I actually wasn’t informed) for the telephone line, monthly. This amount is not a big deal. We are actually aiming for 20mbps for ₱ 8, 000 a month. What upsets us is the result that ended up having only 9mbps!
It is too good to be true when I spoke to this agent. Cheaper monthly bill, fast service, and in fairness to her, she always calls me for update. But sadly, we were not served well.

Prior to this, I initially applied at Moonwalk office and later transferred to SM Southmall office where, also, given us a hard time. Agent did not specifically give me instructions what requirements needed. At first, a photo copy was ok but when I go back again to pass the requirements, it is NOT. I remember going there for 3 times just for the application. I asked for help and explained to them of us having a very tight schedule but it seems that they do not care at all.
I hope you would look into this matter, and make sure such an incident is not repeated. Your company has been known to provide good services, and such events tarnish the company name, so please address this issue soon. I trust this is not the way PLDT Inc. wishes to conduct business with valued customers. I would welcome the opportunity to discuss matters further and to learn of how you propose to prevent a similar situation from recurring. I look forward to hearing from you.
Hoping that the upgrade promise will be done very soon.
Yours faithfully,
Richard Jefferson C. Termulo

my membership/payments
Anytime fitness is crap, vie been going to the one in Asheville NC,
1863 Hendersonville Rd, Asheville, NC [protected], DONT go if you want to be manipulated and ripped off! Me and my boyfriend were put on a couples account and signed contracts to be locked in that way by an employee there who does there boot camp as well and at this point I'm not even sure if they still have him there because they act like he never existed now we paid on time every month about 72 dollars and they started charging twice and sometimes 72 and sometimes 68 and charged random amounts so a couple months later he lost his job and we are in school right now and we were going to pay the fee we had due and a cancellation fee if needed but some how our accounts are separate now and he owes 96 dollars and I owe 148 dollars ? I would guess they separated our accounts in July not only do I get the harassing phone calls but overtime vie called that gym the girl that works there gives me a different story like she was supposed to freeze my account at 96 dollars and was supposed to call me and she never did, she told me the members are given a option of contract or no contract and we were not given that option and when I call back to ask about it now its every one is given a contract, when I asked about cancelling my account it was coming there and talking to the owner, then turned into paying with her 200 dollars for "our" account now its separate and no one ever called and told us they separated our accounts at all so now we both pay 200 dollars so in total I would pay 380 or more which is ridiculous and unfair. When I called again now I have to email someone to cancel my account and its always something new! When vie tried to speak to the frown owner its like he is never there . So at this point I don't know what to do because no one is helping me and honestly the way vie been treated I would want a full refund of our money spent or some kind of deal because I'm going to go to the Better Business Buero
You should have read all the numerous complaints right here on this site before you ever joined that flim flam outfit. It'll be months before you can expect to shake them off. Wait until they get the collection agency on you. That is soon to come! Your post sounds like you're clueless about what's going on. Tsk. Tsk..
very rude employee
We have been members of this gym for several months now, and have noticed the condition of the gym getting worse all of the time, and the equipment is outdated, and sometimes dangerous. Recently when we entered the gym, the girl who occasionally works at the office desk, was folding towels in the waiting area close to the entrance. She normally doesn't speak to the customers anyway, but was exceptionally rude to my fiancé and I on this day. As we left the gym, she came right behind me, and brushed against my gym bag, almost running in to me, and making derogatory comments to us as we walked to our car. This was unforgivable, for an employee to treat customers with such disrespect! Overall, the owners and employees of the club never really speak to the customers, other than being rude. It is all about money with them!
pathetic condition of the gym and nothing is being done
Nothing is being done . There is soo much smell in the gym that i dont like to go there. I have been to gym 1 month before nd i went yesterday to check whether its done or not but nothing is being done instead the condition was more pathetic gym was floating with all water inside no treadmill was working i came back within a minute by just capturing a video of the condition and i asked the concerned person and he said what we can do when it will be done it will be done and dont say it again and again so i came back without uttering a word. My 3 friends left the gym due to this prob. The anytime fitness team gave 10 days time but it been one and a month that nothing has been done. Please doo sumthing as soon as possible
Thankyou
cancelling contract very costly
I joined an Anytime Fitness in Prairie du Sac, WI mid-October. Attended ONE time during 2 week trial. Have not gone once since then. Called to cancel in mid-January. Was told I could suspend membership for up to 3 months until my schedule allowed me to come to the gym, OR transfer my membership, but new person has to join for 12 months and pay my rate plus pay a $49 transfer fee, OR cancel for a fee of $250 plus I would lose my final monthly payment of $46.00; that is used as a security deposit - for what I don't know. IF I stay on I only owe approximately another $380 for the remainder of my membership (through Oct. 2016). I think he forgot to include the extra $30 each member is required to pay towards new equipment every year...I know a contract is a contract, but I did not use the gym at all; it's not like I went for a while then quit just because. I have 3 year old twins and a husband who has an on call job. If you cannot guarantee you will have the time to go to the gym, save yourself the time and the hassle and A LOT OF MONEY and don't join. They have no sympathy for any circumstances but death. The guy who owns the club I went to once, Andrew Gundlach, owns 28 franchises in WI. I am pretty sure my money means less to him than my single income family of five. I was a fool. Don't be a fool too.
membership cancellation and subsequent collection agency
I began a two-year contract with Anytime Fitness back in June of 2013. As of July 2015 my contract had ended. I spoke with a man at Anytime who told me even though I was out of contract and only month-to-month I would have to submit a 30-day written notice. He told me he would email me the form that I need to fill out and send back to him. I never received the form so I called and he emailed it to me again. I never received the second one he "supposedly" emailed as well. So I canceled my bank account and opened a new one. Now it is October 2015 and I just received another call from Anytime telling me I was over $120 in debt with them and needed to pay it to keep from being submitted to a collection agency. This contract I signed apparently said that I would have to submit a 30-day written notice in order to be a valid cancellation, however, never receiving the form as well as me not being under ANY contract with them since my old one had run out I don't see how they have any grounds to hold me to a contract that is past due. Needless to say I will never be attending Anytime again or even recommending them to anyone.
Same boat, called Anytime Fitness to cancel membership. Work took me away and it was money down drain. The place was always in some state of disrepair, the flooring sucked. When I called to cancel the man on the phone said no problem and he would be sending a cancellation form in the mail...and I should only be billed once more... the letter never came and they keep billing me...
unacceptable billing practices
I purchased a 1-year membership membership in this fitness center. The membership expired on July 10, 2015, but the club continues to attempt to collect the monthly membership fee. This is happening despite my sending them a discontinuance letter and a subsequent phone call with the owner. Further, the club's designated billing company--ABC Financial Services--continues to leave threatening messages on my home phone recorder.
Read full review of Anytime Fitnesspersonal trainer
On May 7, 2015 I signed up for a Personal Trainer. The first one was relatively nice and I had no problems until my first trainer just left without a word. I heard nothing out of that trainer for about a month when I finally was contacted by my second trainer. Now that trainer is leaving and I don't think is fair to me that I have to keep rotating trainers that have been working with me. I also have an autoimmune disorder that I have to work around and to suddenly change what I'm doing with different trainers is hard on my body. I would like to cancel this agreement, if all possible.
