refusal to cancel
Anytime Fitness would be your only option in the Philippines if you want to go to the gym but you leave work at 3AM. I've been a member since mid December and it's all good but I had to move to a condominium with its own gym so had to cancel this. I went to their El Pueblo branch on July 1, which is the payment due date for the month. And they would not cancel! The staff turned her computer monitor so she can point to me that the system already generated the charge and I cancelled a day late. I'm broke and can only pay by end of month. I was told to email them this. And they said Noted. BUT then they cut my access. I already told them I can only afford to pay the monthly fee+penalty by the end of July, afterwhich the membership will finally be cancelled. They insist I pay for the month but they also won't let me use it. I sent a complaint to our Department of Trade and Industry.
owner/trainer
I have been a committed employee with Anytime Fitness here in Terre Haute, IN for a year and a half now. I was initially approached by the owner, Chad Atterson's now ex-wife, Heather Atterson about the position. Taking a chance, I started there knowing nothing about fitness. Once I started feeling comfortable, I started to realize that I loved being in fitness. I loved getting to know my members and their stories. I loved how they always came to me. Nothing could be better than walking in to what we call our "second homes" than smiling members and happy staff that know each other.
Me being in the position of "Regional Manager", that being over all 3 Terre Haute locations and the new Paris, IL location, I had staff and a lot of members to listen to and take action when it needed to be taken. During my time there at least everyday there were complaints made to me by not only staff but our members. These complaints pointing at the main trainer, Rachel Stunich. Almost every single complaint! Being that I am the H2I Manager and her being the T2I Manager, I would always go to the owner with the complaints I had on her. He would always tell me he would take care of it. Sometimes I would see a change in her towards myself and staff, but only for a little while. Then she would turn back into her normal self. I don't know how member complaints turned out. I know some have never been resolved and some have because I have had to ask Chad why he had yet to reach out to them. Then the member would come thank me because after I asked Chad why he had not reached out, he would have Rachel contact them. I only went to Chad to ask why he had not reached out to the member(s) because they would come back to me. There were many, many complaints on Rachel. And to this day, you can find at least 5-10 members in each of our 3 locations in Terre Haute, IN, that say they don't like her or I had one member come up to me and say, "she doesn't like me, and I don't know why". When I told Chad this, nothing was done. I had a member, Bailey Robinson, come to me almost in tears because she was led into another training agreement and was not too sure how it happened. They are wanting to get away from PT and that's what she liked and wanted. So Rachel put her in Group and that really upset her. I told Chad about this conversation and he told me to have Bailey email him. I had her email Chad and he in return had Rachel call her. Bailey came to me a few days after, I believe. She told me that Rachel was so rude to her on the phone. I told her that I was sorry and that she needed to email Chad again. She said she would. In the meantime, Chad somehow thought the call went great! I told him what Bailey had told me, and he just shrugged it off. I haven't talked to her since. It hasn't been but maybe a week ago since this happened. Rachel is one of a kind. She has a harassing behavior. She is controlling and just plain rude. It's not me to name call. Those are just the words that describe her best.
The last incident in which I am being retaliated against from happened on 06/24/2019. The pas3-4 months that I would go to Chad with issues myself or my staff had with Rachel, he would tell me to "ask her about it". I told him I didn't want to because I didn't want her to get upset or anything. He said, she wouldn't. Well, that morning my employee Allyson Mundy called my cell phone while I was at home finishing getting ready for m shift. She told me that Rachel had contacted her stating, "You're lucky. Jon saved your [censored] on Sunday". She was upset with how Rachel came to her with this. Allyson said she kept saying it over and over to her like she was to blame. So, I then called Rachel because that is what Chad has been requesting that I do. She didn't answer, but soon called me back. I told her I did not was an argument or anything I just would like to know what was said to Allyson. She told me that she just told Allyson that Jon stayed for 6 hours on Sunday because there were no towels. I then asked if she said the comment to Allyson, about saving her [censored]. She immediately got frustrated and said "No, let me tell you something". Conversation went downhill from there. She stated in there she was going to file a complaint on me. I don't understand the whole outburst that she had but she finally hung up, so that was a good thing. But, What did I do? What my boss told me to? Chad then came to me and requested me to send him an email with what happened so he could put it all together and send it to you guys, corporate . I did.
Since then, I have been being treated like a piece of garbage. I have had to move from the Downtown gym, which I had been there for a year and a half, to a gym at the other side of town. All because he states he doesn't need myself and Rachel being at the same location. Where did this come about? Also stating it is corporate policy to have a manager at each location. If that's true, then why even give me that "Regional Manager" position in the first place? Why was it okay for all of the months that I did it? Until, now? Retaliation! The first staff he wanted to put down there told him "No, she couldn't work with Rachel anymore". What does that say? So, he put his son, Chandler, over the Downtown location. Allyson Mundy over the South location. Myself had to go to the East location. He took away a lot of my responsibilities. Such as schedules for all gyms, entering insurance for all gyms, buying supplies for all gyms, being the "go to", when staff has questions and many others. All I had to do now was one gym. If that is not retaliation, I don't know what it.
Chad and I exchanged some text messages last weekend. He wasn't being so nice. Ordering me to work 1-2 Saturdays a month. When he told me I didn't have to a few months ago. So, I went in to work today. Asked Chad to meet me at the gym. I was going to do something I truly did not want to do. He came and we sat in the office. I said "Due to the circumstances and the retaliation that I am receiving for doing my job, I am putting in my two weeks today". He said "the way you talked to me this weekend, I don't need a two weeks notice. You can go now". So I went.
I don't regret leaving. I will still keep in touch with all of my members. All hundreds of them. I just wish he would have handled the towel situation like I requested. Which was have myself, Rachel and him sit down and talk. When I requested that he said he would have to "pull you two off of each other". Not properly handled and I have been treated poorly and retaliated against for no reason what so ever.
I just want you guys to know that there are serious issues going on in the gyms that Chad Atterson owns. I really hope you look in to this. Ask H2I staff and most importantly current members. The ownership and gyms needs some corporate attention.
I have a lot more I could add to this but it would be even lengthier that it is now. I will be more than happy to provide anymore knowledge that I have of issues or complaints with Rachel, if they are needed.
Please, let me know that you are looking in to this.
Thank you,
Alisha Pine
charged miscellaneous fines
Hi, I am member of millwoods edmonton location. My name is Ramjodh Sandhu.I was charged $250 month in the month of April for letting my friend inside, who is also a member of that particular location. We both scanned our fob on the door, his fob didn't work but mine did. So we just went in. Next day our both fobs were working. I asked manager for refund...
Read full review of Anytime Fitnessmonthly membership fee dispute
This company have been nothing but a pain when dealing with payment disputes. Last year they had a ridiculous policy of charging their members a hefty fine (around 500-600 php per decline) should their credit card get declined for the monthly fee deduction. Working in a bank I know how these company tend to do duplicate transactions so I opted to use a virtual prapaid card instead (paymaya) which also gets some probs with the reloading method, but that's a different story. Anyway, as I was having a hard time to top up my card, I already accepted the fact that I might just have to pay the fine, lo and behold they tried my card thrice. And just that, I paid a month's worth of membership fee on top of my current fee. Which, I think was oppressive, but at the same time I had to accept, twas my fault anyway. As June was fast approaching, so was my ever anticipated trip, hence I did wanted to be in shape so I decided to go to the gym again. I was so confident that all my dues were paid as I have topped up my card and saw in the transaction history that the monthly gym fee was deducted. June 6, I received a notification that I have an overdue balance and they have deactivated my account (goodbye getting in shape goals!). They wanted me to go to metrobank and pay my dues, whilst, my card has been charged already. (they no longer charge the hefty fine anymore, maybe because they got sued for it LOL) I have signed up with anytime fitness simply because of the fact that they are open 24 hrs, so i can go there at the dead of the night and do my thing there with very minimal social interaction from people (yes! I get crowd anxiety). They keep on telling me to call my bank, but i know that my funds is on hold by their payment center Ezpay. And true enough, after tm they confirmed that ezpay returned my funds, twas indeed back on my account AFTER 15 Days. To which my account is still disabled, and they still wanted me to pay up, even with me not being able to use their service and yes, I sometimes have months that I don't even go to gym but still pay my dues, what's the difference of paying up anyway?! Here's the thing, I just don't want to be oppressed like that by bully companies like them. Because if you let them treat you like that, they know they could get away treating consumers like that. I have raised a complaint over to DTI about that, praying they discontinue my membership without any fines. Because 1, I am fed up with their fines. 2, because they have bad customer service and I feel a repulsion just thinking of having to deal with them.
television
Hello,
I am a member of Anytime Fitness in Frankfort IL. For months, I asked the previous manager to fix the TV's that are built in to the aerobic equipment (treadmills, stair master, etc.) She never fixed them. We got a new manager, Carolyn, I asked her if she could get them fixed. She was super-nice, and kept promising to fix them, but 3 months has gone by and still they are not working...could you please get this issue resolved? I know it's not a huge issue, but I really miss having the television functionality...I appreciate your help & thank you for considering my request.
Sincerely,
Sally Kleinschmidt
continuing membership fees
On June 17th 2017 I walked into the office and spoke with the owner Beth Tetreault of Anytime Fitness in Burrillville, RI. I notified her that I was moving to the Czech Republic and would be canceling my membership. In April of 2019 my card was charged for annual membership and monthly fees. Since April I have been trying to resolve this with emails and phone calls without success. I am always told that I will receive a call back from Beth. It has been over two months and I just received an email asking for updated credit card so they can charge my fees. This is absurd and I would like to finally have this resolved since I am getting nowhere with the Anytime Fitness in RI.
membership cancellation
To whom it may concern,
I contacted your Listowel, Ontario location on December 16, 2018 so as to cancel my membership. I was told that as of January 14, 2019 my membership fee's would no longer be withdrawn and my membership would be cancelled so long as I either dropped off a signed cancellation letter, or emailed one. Within a week I dropped off a letter to the Listowel location itself.
I just noticed that I was being charged the monthly charges, even though I had followed the cancellation steps. I called the store today (June 17th 2019) and spoke to the employee there. She put me in contact with Michelle ( who I was originally in correspondence with for the original cancellation)
Michelle stated that since they didn't have a copy of the letter I dropped off, she wont be able to reverse the charges. But if I sent in a letter again, she would cancel the membership
I know I dropped the signed letter off, and as much as I try to understand that mistakes can be made, I feel like the matter could have been dealt with a lot better. The entire conversation with Michelle I was unable to finish a single sentence with out being talked over or basically dismissed.
How am I to trust that the second letter will close the matter, when the initial letter was ignored or lost?
In all, I can't say I will recommend Anytime Fitness to anyone who asks for a gym recommendation, when I was treated like I was.
I look forward to hearing back from you

charging a cancelled account
Hi after no response from your Basingstoke team, I called multiple times since I had been left an email letting me know they were going to start taking money out of my account from the 1st, left 3 vm and also a response to their email.
This is irritating and Ridiculous, I cancelled my account months ago,
Since I had no response from your team I have blocked you from attempting to take any money.
I definitely never want to use any of your gyms again.
So please can my account be cancelled properly ! I want all of my details to be taken off of your system, especially my bank details!
And I will not be paying that charge so take it off.
I would very much appreciate a response,

gym reopening
Hello. I am a member of Anytime Fitness and have been visiting the Hyderabad Jubilee Hills branch for a couple years now. Recently they shut down the gym for renovations, on March 15th to be exact and said reopening would happen in 45 days. When I contacted the website for a follow up, they sent me an SMS reiterating that the gym would open on 20th May. I have paid annual fees and need an update on the reopening ASAP. The gym is closed and the numbers are all switched off. There is no one to contact!
Needless to say I'm extremely disappointed with the lack of approachability and customer care. I expect a resolution to my issue.
unresonable charges and rude management
Hello,
I am Manjinder sidhu one of your member at millwoods location in edmonton. I would like to register a complaint regarding what happened to me couple week before, so it was mid night i was in the lobby and one of our member ring the bell to get inside i saw him and suggested him to call the authorities and they will help you he siad they didn't take my call. So i tried to call them like 3 times and the same no one answered. I remember someone someday open the door for me to when i forgot too. So i helped me to get in. And next day my key fob was blocked and amount of 250$ was vanished
When i tried to call them next day they were not ready to listen any reason and started to talking rude to me.
So all i expect as being a member for more than a year they should atleast gave me warning or atleast said me what's going on rather than humilate me.
250$ is not a small amount
It would appreciated if you can requite all charges.
Thanks

customer service experience
Hello
My name is Preetraj Singh. I am a member of one of your location Millwoods, Edmonton, AB from last two months .So month ago accidentally I gave access to unknown persons assuming they are their to get membership at day time as they were waiting outside the door from
last 15 minutes, then I finished my workout and went home. Suddenly, i got to know that my account has been debited for $500.00 by anytime fitness without notifying or without my consent . Upon checking with manager of the location, I found out that these charges is a penalty to me due to above mentioned reason . They supposed to talk to me about it or should have given me a warning as I didnt do this intentionally. On top of that, when I talked to manager, he was not willing to listen my concern and he was so loud and rude while assisting me, he was kind of using bad language what he should not use as assisting customer. Moreover owner (Rob)of the Franchise was also on line with manager and he even didn't show any concern about the matter. Manager kept disconnecting the call on me.Being a member of this franchise, and also recommended about this gym to my friends, I am very disappointed with this experience. They literally treated me as I did crime . I hope you will respond to this email.
Thanks

I spoke to few representatives from head office and then i got call from Matt(Alberta head)who listened to my concern and showed his willingness to resolving my issue as i had very bad experience with management at millwoods location. He assured me that he will try his best to get me full refund of $500.00, will also contact his higher support team to get it fully resolved and will get back to me in 7-10 days. He apologized for above mentioned bad experience and said they already took the action against manager .I am happy now because Matt dealt with my issue very professionally.

membership
I was a member of the Deptford location. they closed a little over a month ago. Before closing I wanted to cancel my membership knowing I would not be able to go the suggested new location. They are still charging my credit card and I have to pay half of my membership to cancel it. This is crap. Your location closed and I get penalized. Total unfair. I would appreciate a response - am hoping I hear something considering see what others have been going through. What a nightmare!
membership payment
12/31/2018
I was moved from Peru, Il to Spring Valley, IL since I went to spring valley more but for good reason. Corporate does this without consulting the member before doing this and that is wrong of them but as usual they don't care what the member say about this. I also was told that you can still leave the payment under the door before it is due but I did that in plenty of time and they didn't apply this to my account so this interrupted my entering the club. I had told them previously that if this should happen at all I would leave the club. Guess What! They did it! So I am leaving like many of past anytime fitness members and move forward and leave. Sorry! Staff people! You screwed up again so I am gone. Never felt better!

Dear Sir,
Sub: Request to refund my deposit against not providing any
service and closing the GYM in Eldams Road Branch.
-----
I regret to inform you that I have very bad experience in this gym, I have enquired about gym membership for myself in the Eldams Road branch last December 2017, One of your staff Ms.Anitha, showed the me the gym and informed me that there are lady trainer available. Gym has physiotherapist and dietician.
Based on the facilities she explained me I was satisfied to join your gym. She told me that there is an offer going which is 12 months plus one month personal trainer, another option 12 months plus 3 month additional. I choose 2nd option. I told I will bring the cash, she told me that they will accept the card and I approached dated is the last date of closing the offers.
The package comes around Rs. 17500/- for 15 months. She ask me to pay Rs.9000/- initially and balance shall be paid in January. I have paid Rs.9000/- on 18th December. She asked me to produce my pan card copy and two passport size photo which I carried every day but no one bothered to collect the same.
The very first day when I went to GYM. I do not know whom to approach, what to do, Finally I did some exercise. After one week I was frustrated and I approached the receptionist, she told me that they will allot a female trainer and the trainer will take assessment. No one guided till 2nd week. I had suffered a severe Neck pain and knee pain due to improper guidance for the trainers. Due to severe pain I approached the Ortho Doctor.
Dr. Subramanian Ortho Clinic in Mandaveli, Chennai. He told me that because of gym exercise only pain raised, he advised me to stop the gym workout immediately. Since I am 47 years old, as per doctor advised I went to GYM and informed about my health condition along with proof. Ms.Anitha told me that I can take break as per doctor advise, She ask me to approach Gym Incharge Mr.Sanil, she gave Mr.Sanil's phone no. I went to Gym along with all proof and approached Mr.Sanil, He advised me to produce letter along with copy of my report. Which was submitted on the same day. I was under medication till now. I have approached Mr.Sanil in September Last week I request to refund my deposit. The new in charge convinced me that there are new trainers available, Physio will be available weekly twice, Mr.Sanil told me I can come and start the cardio exercise after 10 days we will guide for weight reduction.
Again I started to come to gym. I approached the reception about the balance amount. He told me lets see after 10 days, If you are not getting any issue they you will pay the balance amount. I came for 10 days, and did exercise without any guidance again. No trainer guided me. And the Pain initiated in my knee and neck .
Mr. Sanil told me when we start exercise it will come after some day it will settle automatically. Otherwise please approach doctor. I enquired the receptionist about Physio, they told me that he will come on staturday morning. I went there on Saturday but no one turned.
Suddenly there is a notice pasted on the glass door that the Gym is closing from 16th November. I approached Mr.Sanil, he told me that refund is not possible. I asked Mr. Sanil what about others, he told me that he refund the money for whoever have a membership, after many discussion He told me that he will speak to the management. But next day onwards he is not responding my call. Through Anna Nagar Branch I got Mr.Suresh's phone no. The same was highlighted to Mr.Suresh (Admin) also.
Still I believe, your gym have some kind of reputation, decorum and moral value. You have collected money from me without providing any of the below services.
1. Assessment not made by any of your trainer
2. There is no trainer and no proper training is provided by you
3. My details are not registered in the Data base
4. Not providing Membership card
Which is not acceptable by any human being? I hope you may understand my situation, I am expecting you to refund my money. Your earliest reply will be highly appreciated
Thanks and regards,

transferring agreement to different club without my authorization.
I get this so-called email saying since I use the club in Spring Valley, IL more than Peru, IL that they have to transfer the agreement over to Spring Valley, IL. I am sorry to say that no one has the right to do that without checking with that member first. I don't give a [censored] what the policy said, It's the member that must decide, not whoever did this. For your information I go to this one in Spring Valley more is because I like to work out in peace, not other members talking and yelling all the time. I do check when I go Past Peru, IL club and see who is there and if I'm not happy on going there now then I go to the one in the Valley. It's my choice, not yours. So many people are disappointed in this club and you thinks it's the club owner but it's more who is handling these agreements and money being taking out of there banking accounts. This is why I forbid any other financial institution from doing this to me. You have proven to me that abcfinancial can't be trusted so this is where it stands. transfer it back immediately
gym membership
Good morning,
We are members at the Wake Forest, NC Anytime Fitness location. We have been speaking to the owner, Brenden, about cancelling our membership and he has not been helpful. We are very unhappy with the customer service we have been getting and we were never communicated that this contract could not be cancelled (my husband and I both signed up). Yes we signed but it was not verbally communicated.
We were new to the area and went into the office. The lady, Kristine, was eating and seemed less eager to help us out. We did not even get the full tour but we told her we were looking to pay close to $0 as possible. She never communicated that we could not cancel our contract and I have never heard of a gym not allowing you to cancel. If misleading information is provided then a contract can be void. We have looked this up and they still refuse to help us.
We have not enjoyed the gym environment, as we were new and trying something out close to our new house. Life changes and we were busy with work, school, and my pregnancy. I have been dizzy, fatigued, and tired so even if I enjoyed the gym, I could not workout. We have a newborn coming and my husband works two jobs, over 24 hours. I will not be able to use the gym and I am the one who motivated him to go.
We are very disappointed as we found out that our contracts can easily be cancelled by the gym, they are just unwilling to do it due to a business they have to run. However, they have gained a lot of money from us within these past couple of months and we have barely attended. They will lose more money if they want me to continue going to their job expressing my concerns and experience with other gym members, as well as, my family and friends.
My family has had memberships with this gym at other franchises and it has never been this bad for them. We simply do not want to go to a gym that treats their customers like this. Getting to know your customers and their needs is better than making money and selling contracts. Also, customer satisfaction should be key.
Looking forward to your response.
Thank you,
Heather
cancel my membership
Long story short, I signed up for a membership, I'm terminally ill but felt like getting myself heather by working out, but like a week after I signed up I had to get a surgery which left me unable to work out, as of this time, I'm not in the mood mentally or physically to work out and they just kept trying to tack on charges, like 1 on 1 training ect. If people wanted that, they would ask, I just feel like 2 year is a commitment, have more choices, 3 months is ideal but no, u want your money and not even a month goes by and my card gets declined and a bill collector calls me from abc talking bout u owe money, I'm not gonna be apart of something that is so money hungry, I felt disrespected
personal training refund
I had paid for personal training sessions (8/month, $240/month fee) for May, June, July and August. I had been assured that if I was not able to use all sessions, that they would carry over. The personal trainer cancelled multiple sessions in August and September due to personal and health reasons and had assured me he would be back in touch to re-schedule. After multiple texts and empty promises, I went to the gym to cancel my membership on 9/27/18. I had used 22 of the 32 sessions I paid for. The office staff advised me that I would be refunded for all 10 sessions. However, when the owner called me later that evening, he indicated that he would only refund 50% of the unused sessions and would be charging me the $25 maintenance fee and would waive the final month gym membership. Instead of providing a $300 refund, he would only be providing $125 ($150 less $25 maintenance). I am extremely disappointed that they are not willing to refund all unused sessions and would expect a full refund of the remaining $150 ASAP.
