Arise hires employees with the premise that IF you successfully pass training and several exams you can work for an employer. I feel as though Arise misconceives people knowing that there may be only several slots opened with a particular company, but take a great deal of money from many unknowingly applicants (in one of my classes there were about 26 students, but only several successfully qualified and were able to work for that one employer) for those to few positions.

In order to become eligible to train for a particular company, each applicant MUST pay first, that is the first step before having access to the training is expressing interest in a company. The applicant is then sent an email saying they are eligible to take the training. However, the applicant then pays a fee, which ranges from $200+ on up. If you don't get through training, pass the exams, or are not certified, the person DOES NOT get a refund of monies. Additionally, you get NO explanation as to why.

I have applied, was qualified, successfully passed training and all tests, 1 with a 85%, and the others with 100% and got to the certification process and was told after the second day of that certification that they would go no further with me. My daughter worked for two employers with Arise and both times her account was locked, which means she could not access the employers secured sites. She tried repeatedly contacting her performance facilitators (PF's) and emailing Arise, as well as the employers and was told absolutely nothing. It can be surmised that she was terminated with again NO explanations whatsoever. No phone calls and no emails stating that she was terminated (we're guessing that she was terminated, but Arise never confirmed).

The first employer was seasonal, so maybe that is the reason why her employment was abruptly terminated. However, with the other employer just the day prior to them locking her account she received an email stating she was doing a great job! The position was for a Customer Service/Sales position, but before while in training, many had asked the trainer if Sales was mandatory for the position. The instructor informed them that although sales was desired it was not a mandatory requirement for the position. In other words, sales were not being pushed. I paid $250.00 for my daughter for this training through Arise. She worked just a month.

Not to mention, when a person is employed through Arise, they take out $19.95 from each paycheck, which is twice a month. They claim that this is to have the ability to have access to their website, the employer, etc. Collectively, between my daughter and myself have spent over $1, 000.00 just in Arise's fees (paying for the training alone), and other fees for headphones, internet access, etc., and we have nothing to show for it, but a empty pocketbook.

We even had a study buddy's with whom we practiced with everyday to endure we all would get hired, and they didn't make it either. Although, they too paid money to Arise. The only thing that I can say about this company is DO NOT apply with them. It is a growing company, because of the money they take from many many people and the NO REFUND policy, and that's whether you qualify for just the training or not. After trying twice to get a job thorough them, and my daughter working twice with them a being abruptly terminated we have ended our contract with them, and with NEVER apply for another position with Arise again. I suggest you don't either. Applicants Beware!

It is obvious you do not have a strong understanding of the Arise model. Arise does not employ agents. All Arise Certified Professionals are employed by the VSC they have established. As an Arise Certified Professional, you are self employed and there are costs associated. Arise does not make a secret of this. It is listed on their site and you do not even have to log in to view it.

Your success with Arise is directly related to performance. If you do not do required course work, pass exams and quizzes in your certification training, you do not pass. Just because you pay for it does not mean you automatically pass it.

I have been an agent for years and while not perfect, Arise is NOT a scam. For the record, I have held eight separate certifications and have never not passed a certification training.

Not reading the information provided to you does not make Arise a scam or a fraud.

I agree with original poster, no quality employer makes you pay for THEIR report on you, or your own training. Why the hell should they? That is THEIR cost of doing business, and the lack of communication described in her post is a violation of pretty universal HR best practices regarding employment. Sounds to me like you are just a fool defending them, and you haven't had very many normal jobs in the real world, or you are just a shill rep trying to do damage control for them.

ConsumerBear, you know nothing of this company ... they do not employe agents. Agents of Arise are contracted, not employed. People apply with Arise because they want to... it is not Arise's fault if they do not read before applying. Please save your HR speech for a situation where it actually applies... and it is you who is the shrill commenting on a company / situation of which you know nothing.

If people would READ and take some time to understand ANY situation before just jumping in, they would save themselves a huge headache... and not look like a fool.

I'd like to ask both Mieke and Trea if the income earned through Arise has been sufficient to make up for all the training and associated expense. What's the bottom line?

If anyone else out there has worked with Arisa, I'd appreciate your comment re: is it worth it? I'm currently unemployed and don't want to waste money, but, I'm desperate to find an income. Liz

Liz- It is my primary income... I work 30-40 hours per week adjusting as needed for any extra $$ needed or schedule allowances.

There are issues, but truth be told, I like the freedom I have. I came from the traditional corporate world and if you want o see sharks... they are there... I like this much better.

Mieke, you are so full of it with the “Not reading the information provided to you does not make Arise a scam or a fraud” They give you the information, then change the agreements, not sure in what world you have been if you haven’t seeing this happening.

I've worked for Arise for over a year now. I do consider their policies abusive on the VSC. They change contracts and agreements, even after you start working for specific clients which you did based on the terms stated on the original documentation. They change the amount of hours, or how many weekend hours you have to work. They also have lots of issues with their server and they penalize the VSC for it. If you get dropped from chats or from the particular phone application it affects your metrics. They don't care if they messed up, the numbers reflect you were short on your worked time; therefore they don't pay you for that time and drop your commitment which later on you can get fired for it.

If you try calling, there is no one to talk to. If you open a case on their support site they take forever to resolve, and they don't even contact you about it. They just copy/paste from the manual or contract (so ridiculous), dump the information there and close the ticket.

For some clients they have incentive that you can get paid if you book and work the minimum amount of hours, but again with their system not recording the hours accurately you don’t get paid for them unless you book another couple of hours over the minimum to make sure they book the minimum. If you are supposed to work from 2:0 – 4:00 and there is a server problem that logs you out or freezes your application and you have you get logged out for 5 mins, even if you work an extra 10 minutes it sill shows you were short 5 minutes and adjusts your metrics accordingly.

They expect you to provide great service (obviously) but let’s say you were supposed to work from 2:00 – 4:00 and the call went over by 20-30 minutes, they don’t pay you for it.

As many other people have mentioned, everything works on their favor and against the VSC. I got contracted for customer service for a company, and a month later they decided we needed to start up-selling on the customer service calls (this was never stated on the original client agreement). I don’t like sales; I am not good at it which is why I opted for customer service instead of sales. Well, guess what, I got terminated because low attachment rates (not being able to upsell crap on customer service calls). So, yes they change the contracts and terminate you for it

I was considering this but having read lots of posts have now decided not to. I was hesitant anyway as I have emailed them asking what the fees were I would have to pay, but nobody has replied which makes me dubious.

Thanks for all the feedback it helps.

I think it is fair to mention that this board is made for those to complain, valid or not. You need only a pulse, PC and an internet connection, nothing more. Just because it is listed her does not make it fact. Rather, it is still the perception of a single person.

Arise has been around for a long time and will continue to be. Just because there are some unhappy people does not make it a bad company. Can Arise be handling some situations differently / better? Of course! What company couldn't? When it is all said and done, thousands of people work with them and make a good living; I am one of them.

Take it all with a grain of salt.

I am working with Arise, and work with ATT. Yes it is true that they change things on you and all the metrics comments and performance comments are true. It pays the bills and is perfect for someone living at home or that someone not living at home and just lost their job. Take unemployment during the classes, and start working. The arise certification is a little lengthy but once you select a job and go to the school the work is good enough for you to spend the rest of the time waiting on that great break job or investing in hobbies. It IS NOT a job to get rich on and is only supplemental. It DOES work though and that is a true unbiased answer.

I know this post is about Arise. I too tried to work at home but it was for another company called LiveOps. Sounds the same. I finished all the courses and was ready to go to work but could never get online with the company. Their solution to the problem was to go to the message board and ask someone who already works with the company. I did that but nothing helped.

I spent alot of money getting set up and it was all for not! So who can tell me here if Arise's technical support is any good. Cause if you can't get your computer set up properly then it is all for nothing and I am 59 years old unemployment benifits are exausted, and my saving which I am living off of now is dwindling fast...

Can anyone comment on that or email me @ kooglebird@yahoo.com

You have to incorporate to be a part of Arise (fees, time and paperwork). You have to pay for your background check (fees), a fee is taken out of every check (fee), you pay for your own training (fee and time) which is very expensive and nonrefundable and if you change your mind about a program, it counts against you and you are blocked from other programs (fee, time, loss opportunity). If you keep your head low and you stay out of trouble and don’t ask too many questions like, (why did I get pay $22hr with benefits for this same job in the real world and your are paying $7.50hr minus the bi-weekly fee (severely reduced pay) for the same job with NO benefits except, well you get to work from home so this novelty should satisfy you to all ends and justify whatever they want to do with you. You have to scavenger for your work hours; if you don’t show up on time when they put out the scheduled time slots you would be out of work for that week or have to constantly monitor the schedules hoping that someone lets something go(loss opportunity). When you add up the fees, time, paperwork, and loss of opportunities you might as well find another work at home company or work for McDonalds.

WOW, This is funny scene here. I've been contracted with Arise for almost a year and my wife have been working for them for 3years. One thing I can say is that if you want to work for Arise you have to be serious about it. If your wasting time studying how they pay then focusing on work than that time wasted will be notice once you get your chk deposit. You can't get rich from working Arise but my wife have brought in 1800 chk bi weekly and still does on occasions. the lowest her pay have been is when we go on vacation and she works the min hour then she might be at 900. In all you got to be on top of your game. you can be like a teenager starting their first job. The fees are nothing, I was a dispatcher before I started to work with Arise I had to $350 for state certificate $150 for the enrollment process & License and an annual fee of $200 to renew my License & can't forget the $50 for drug test. The different is that Im not burning GAS, my time, flexible schedule, and other expenses that you pay when working a regular 9-5. Since working with Arise I've been making the same pay if not a little more, I save on gas which costed me $80 a week, time whick took me 40min to get to work & 40min to get back home. The issues that you guys are complaining about is the same process you go through when you go to work a regular 9-5, but they just know how to hide it better or you feel that its a better deal because of benefit. Research and educating yourself on something pays of, instead of just jumping in just thinking about the money. I found health care benefit ful cover for both my wife and I for about $300 full coverage and still making more than actually driving to work and listening to other ppls problems and complaints. i have more time for myself, family, & friends. Enjoy working more and definitely making good money. :D I have complaints about certain things about Arise but who doesn't have complaint about where they're working even if you work for yourself you'll still have complaints. Suck It and move on!

I have been reading all the comments and was hesitant about this opportunity. Especially when I see persons like Mieke, trying so hard to defend Arise, that's a red flag. But after reading this comment written by Craig, I am more leaning towards the right. You are right in regards to the start up of any business. I was employed in a Govt position and would you believe there were also start up costs. Credit check, licences, application fees, etc. There are costs involved with any job whether you see them or not. As was also stated, you are never problem free in any job. If you dont like the work, it is the salary, the benefits, the hours, etc. So why not take the chance. If it is not what you want, take the loss on your taxes next year. I will pray on this and ask God to help me make the right decision.

Here's the deal. Go ahead and spend the money to become part of the Arise "team". But 2 months later, remember, we DID try to warn you. You chose instead to listen to the trolls Arise sends to these boards to offset the HUNDREDS of dissatisfied agents who have severed ties with them. While you're at it... Google the class action suit against ATT and Arise in California and read WHY it was filed... for hte EXACT same reasons people are trying to warn others away from this company.

I have been working through Arise for 7 years. Generally, i am not happy with them but they are not a scam. They are exploiters and their contracts are set up so that it is very easy for them to terminate at their whim. Basically, the contract you will have to sign will have so many ways for you to fail that at any time they can find something you aren't achieving and end it for you. The QA requirements for AAA read like it was created by a BOING engineer! I have been able to survive doing this but would rather do something else. I compete for hours with other work at home agents and am lucky to see 18 per week. The pay has gone down steadily since I started. Each contract seems to get a little worse. Pay is, $8.00 to $10.00 per hour on average, I'd say. Anyone who says they make $1800.00 in a pay period is probably lying. I can see where someone might pull it off with 90+ hours weeks but that doesn't seem likely. They use to be a quality company when they were Willow. Something happened when the company name changed to Arise and it has been steadily going down hill since. If you work through Arise, you can expect average pay, a flexible schedule (within contract limits (and they usually require weekend work)), to have to compete for hours and have little or no issue resolution for anything. As far as the original poster is concerened, I doubt they were dropped with no real reason. They probably failed when being observed taking the test calls at the end of the course. Funny that AT&T was meantioned above. Avoid them, they will rip you off. They can't help it. They have been ripping people off for years so why stop now. I hope some of the info I have posted is helpful. I am not too terribly happy with them but I am making enough to survive and right now, survival isn't all that easy.

Arise in general has been great to me however people Like AQUILLA that use Arise don't explain the actual costs of getting started in the arise pool. Yes they explain that you have to take a background check that YOU have to pay for which is odd because most companies pay for background checks when they are needed, but it's never stated that is you are going to work for one company it's going to be $250 to take their classes as well to prepare for the job and I think that they should have the companies who use them express that this is NOT CHEAP that you have to put out two, three, and sometimes even four hundred dollars, definitely not someone who is a single mother on a fixed income needs to do without saving the money up of a time. ARISE HAS BEEN GREAT FOR ME THOUGH DESPITE ALL OBSTACLES.

I have worked for arise since 2006. I have had 5 contracts with them. Every time I get bored I change my contract. It gives me freedom to work from home and make my own schedule. When you sign up for Arise, you do NOT, work for them. That is why you have to pay for training. You are investing in your own business. Also, it is not a perfect system (since when is work perfect?). There are things that you will like and things you will not. Just like any other job. I find it much more rewarding than not. I get paid every two weeks working for Apple. I am always one of the top performers so I get the pick of the liter when it comes to my hours ( I work 25 to 40 hours a week, depending on what I feel like doing). We are also allowed 30 consecutive days off with no explanation. We just submit a form saying how long we will be off. There are so many perks I could go on forever. A few things that could be improved include the amount of access you have to a direct manager or HR when you need it. I admit that going through the tech support is a bit hectic but hey, its not a perfect world. It reminds me of any other job I have ever held. Good things and bad things.

Man! Arise is a JOKE. It is a way for them to make lots of money. Period! Point Blank! Yeah, you may work with them for a couple of years but MOST do not make it that far. Their system is set up for you to fail because they will get rid of you for any reason just to be replaced by a new CSP that is willing to pay that ridiculous amount of money and go through that process all over again. Scam Scam Scam Scam! I must say brilliant by Arise part so read all the material and ask a lot of questions and don't let the working at home opportunity with Arise blind your thought process because the money being invested could be invested else where.

I have been a contractor with Arise since 07/2012. I am very pleased with my progress so far. As for income. I work at home, that means No gas, no work clothes, no lunch money, and no waisted commute time. So that being said, Im very pleased with my income. I have known agents that did not make it for what ever reason. All I can provide is my own experiances. Once you complete your certification. Work hard, put in the hrs and time it takes for you to suceed. When you commit to servicing hrs, Keep them.. I know how long I sit in front of my computer putting hrs in, whither it is with stalking for xtra hrs in Starmatic, upskill classes, and servicing. At this time Arise is running a sale on the 1st part of the enrollment process for $5.00, that is a $94.00 savings. So if you want to work for yourself. Now is the time to joing Arise

This post is now 2 years old, and I cant believe this company is still legally in business. There really needs to be a nationwide law to protect these types of things from happening. Make these owners serve jail time and than they will think twice of ripping people off.

But everything that was said is true. My class also was about 28 students, and than learned there was a total of 80 for sure with the total of 3 classes because of a class field trip and because of 3 teachers in the room. And I was so bothered that there was that many students, and I kept saying they do NOT need this many people. It honestly doesnt matter how well you do in class, they already have in mind how many they need.

Its 2019 now, so if anyone sees this now, please please do not sign up on arise, unless you dont mind loosing money. You dont need to get a phone line, it will never be used, they just need a number to set up your Avaya. So dont even waste money in investing that.

Dont go buy a computer, if already have one good. Dont buy a servicing phone, it will not be needed. Most of all dont even join. Dont waste your time and money!
