Arvig is a pretty lousy service
Arvig is a pretty lousy service. The internet is slow and outdated, to say the least.

I contacted Arvig 4 times in 3 months, but only received one response. They were supposed to call me back, but it never happened. This has been the worst business experience I've ever had.

Review:
I recently had some service questions and they were answered real quick. I went to this guy who knew his stuff and was really polite. Thanks to him, I was able to get everything up and running smoothly.
I've been without internet for a whole month
I've been without internet for a whole month. My neighbors accidentally ran over some temporary wires that were supposed to be buried last September. It's been a real hassle, and the worst part is that I haven't been able to watch TV during this time. I've had to spend hours and money fixing my neighbors' mowers because of the damage caused.
If I could give NO STARS, it would be appropriate
If I could give NO STARS, it would be appropriate. Arvig has the absolute WORST customer service, not to mention their internet service is terrible and costly. I asked for a manager to call me multiple times, but they didn't bother until I canceled my service. And even then, what we talked about didn't actually happen. Their billing is unreliable, and they can't even explain how they sent it, yet they still think they deserve late fees. Getting rid of their service was the smartest decision I ever made, both for my stress levels and my wallet.
Honestly, it's like not having internet at all
Honestly, it's like not having internet at all. Arvig is my only choice and it's been nothing but problems for the past 2 years. My services keep cutting out several times a day, especially when I really need them. The techs are always pretty helpful in trying to fix the issues as best they can. But I feel like I'm getting ripped off for the money I spend on this company. Considering what I get, paying $75-80 a month is way too much. I should only be paying $20-40, tops, for this garbage. I wouldn't recommend it to anyone who has another option.
I've been an Arvig customer for like 7 years, and let me tell you, their service is just terrible
I've been an Arvig customer for like 7 years, and let me tell you, their service is just terrible. They've been to my place so many times, it's ridiculous. I'm stuck with this ancient DSL thing, and it's like a rollercoaster of unreliable internet. Every dang weekend, I gotta reset the modem when I get home, and sometimes I gotta do it multiple times a day just to get a basic connection. I just got off the phone with their customer service, and they want me to do a whole bunch of tests before they'll even think about sending someone over. And get this, if they don't find anything, they're gonna charge me for the service call. Like seriously? I've already done a bunch of tests on my own, and if I had half-decent service, everything would be working just fine.
I don't even wanna give 'em 1 star
I don't even wanna give 'em 1 star. We called Arvig in August for Internet Service. They said we gotta hire a pro locator, so we did right away. We paid $125 for that. We didn't hear nothin' from 'em, so we called 'em back in October to check on our order. They said we're "on the list" and it should be soon. Ain't heard from 'em since. Called 'em today (12/30) and they said they can't do the work 'cause the ground is frozen. Earliest they can do it is mid-May in the spring. They said we're "on the list" again, but no guarantee of service. They blamed Covid for the long wait, but they never contacted us with any timeline. Even if that's kinda true, this company's got a terrible rep for customer service. Ain't never heard of nobody happy with Arvig. Sadly, they ain't got no competition 'round here, so we're stuck!
2 Star Rating
2 Star Rating. I've had problems with my home telephone service since it was activated in 2018. The Phone and Internet worked for about 6 hours after Installation before it stopped. It was a Friday. The person I spoke with claiming to be tech support had me in the basement unplugging and re-plugging cables even though I told them I had just been released from the ER with heart trouble a few hours before the installation. I had to wait until Monday for a Tech to come back. The Tech told me a connector they installed had failed & tech support could have sent someone back on Friday. Thanks, Arvig. Over the past 2 years, my voicemail password has stopped working at least 4 times. Recently, my Caller ID stopped working. Then I found out my voice messages were being delayed about 20 hours before I received them. No calls shown on Caller ID though. WHAT? I've had an ongoing problem with Call Blocking (*60). I recently had to hang up with a younger woman in the billing department because she made a rude remark (What's so Funny) when I was laughing at my own situation and then claimed she felt (attacked) even though I didn't raise my voice or use profanity. Why would I? She kept calling back until I finally said I would call the Police. Ridiculous. The best response I could get from Arvig is hearing that they plan to sell to CenturyLink soon while they still have a customer base worth anything. Unfortunately, everything I've said is 100% true and correct.

Arvig has been charging a $3.00 per month fee for paper billing without our knowledge of agreement
Arvig has been charging a $3.00 per month fee for paper billing without our knowledge of agreement. The payment automatically comes out of our checking account and I just noticed this extra fee.
I gotta work from home
I gotta work from home. The internet service from Arvig has been all over the place, sometimes it's there, sometimes it's not. We've reached out to them a bunch of times in the last month, but they never did any technical stuff. They don't even bother answering when we open "service tickets". I've been paying for a service that they haven't given me.

Arvig lets you have service for just a few months with a fee of $5.95 each month
Arvig lets you have service for just a few months with a fee of $5.95 each month. I stopped my internet on 9/25 and they told me I was all good with my service. But now, they charged me the regular monthly fee of $60.95, when they should have only billed me for 4 days, which is $8.13, plus the $5.95, making it $14.08. This price is already more than double what I pay at home.
I got billed for an unathorized charge by Arvig
I got billed for an unathorized charge by Arvig. A rep just left and said he tried to call me. I'm at my business Monday through Saturday from 10am to 9pm. I never got a call to approve a $600 media charge. The rep also said he didn't know he had my account until a week ago. I want a refund for the unauthorized collection of funds for an advertisement I didn't approve.
On October 3rd, I called Arvig to tell them to stop my internet because I was moving back to ***
On October 3rd, I called Arvig to tell them to stop my internet because I was moving back to ***. They called me later and said I owed them money for the router and for the months of October-January for internet. They charged me for those months even though I wasn't there. I don't want to pay for a service I thought I canceled. I don't understand why they're charging me for this time.
Arvig telephone and internet company ain't givin' me my rightful qualified Lifeline benefits for the low/no income senior discounted and free
Arvig telephone and internet company ain't givin' me my rightful qualified Lifeline benefits for the low/no income senior discounted and free telephone rates and internet. They keep double billin' and triple billin' me for fake charges that ain't right. When ya call 'em, they just give ya the run around sayin' ya gotta recertify for the program. I already done that through Arvig and Lifeline. But they still keep givin' me the run around and wrongly triple billin' me over and over again! They're a sneaky company takin' advantage and stealin' from seniors who really need their telephone and internet services!
On August 12, Arvig cable/phone was puttin' in some new lines underground or somethin'
On August 12, Arvig cable/phone was puttin' in some new lines underground or somethin'. Arvig's construction crew was there on August 11, with their boring machine to lay the lines underground. They finished up the work in the alley behind my property on August 12. But here's the thing, after they were done, raw sewage started comin' up from the basement floor. I checked it out and turns out the sewer line got cracked. I called up the city of *** and they said it was my problem, nothin' they could do. So, I talked to the Arvig construction guy and he straight up said it was 'cause of old pipes, not his fault. But let me tell ya, those pipes ain't that old 'cause a section was replaced just 3 years ago. He blamed it on the vibrations from his equipment (*** Boring).
About 10 months ago, my internet went out
About 10 months ago, my internet went out. The service tech put in a temporary line for now. I've had to call every 1-2 weeks because I don't have internet service. They were supposed to do construction to install a new line in July. I called a few weeks ago because nobody came to start. They told me the order got canceled, even though I have a temporary line across my yard, and they said it would be done by the end of summer. When I called about a month ago, they told me it would be done by the end of September. They came out to mark the spots but never came back. We called again, and they said we were moved down the list. I talked to Tammy's supervisor and someone named *** today, telling them I want this resolved so I don't have to file a complaint. All they offered me was $50 in credit and apologies. They didn't mention they could speed up my construction order until after I told them I was filing a complaint with the ComplaintsBoard.com and FTC. I've had really bad service and poor experiences with customer service, and I want this resolved.
I signed up with this company 'cause they said I'd get 50MB of data
I signed up with this company 'cause they said I'd get 50MB of data. But man, was I disappointed! The speed I got was nowhere near that. Even their lowest package, 25MB, was a no-show when I did a wired speed test. This messed up my work-from-home gig big time. So I called Arvig for help, and guess what they told me? They said I could never get 50MB 'cause of where I live. But they never mentioned that when I signed up! When I tried to sort out the $99 disconnection fee, they basically said tough luck 'cause I never called 'em about the problem. That's a load of bull! The tech I talked to conveniently forgot to write down my call. If they had just been honest about their service, I never would've gone with 'em. They made me believe I'd get 50MB, and if they had delivered, I would've stuck with 'em for a whole year, no problem.
I've been a customer with Arvig for a few years now, and I've been using Autopay with my credit card
I've been a customer with Arvig for a few years now, and I've been using Autopay with my credit card. Recently, my credit card got stolen, so I needed to update my card details. I tried doing it online, but it didn't work. So, I called them to set up my new credit card, but they said I couldn't do that. Instead, they gave me a few options: a) Pay through ACH transfer, b) use a debit card online with a $3.99 fee, or c) mail in a check. But since I have Autopay, I can't choose the check option. I think I should be able to switch my credit card without any extra charges. I should be able to pay my bill online with a credit card, just like I do with other vendors, or even use a debit card. The reason is that credit cards have built-in protections for both cardholders and businesses in case of mistakes or disputed charges. It's not fair to make me pay extra just to pay my bill. I really hope Arvig reconsiders this policy.
Arvig had some problems last year, but they made up for it by giving free service in January
Arvig had some problems last year, but they made up for it by giving free service in January . Before that, they used to bill monthly from the payment date. Unfortunately, they couldn't change the billing cycle or let customers pay ahead to ensure uninterrupted service. The only way to change the cycle was to go without service until the desired payment date. For instance, if my due date was October 27th and I wanted to change it to November 3rd, I had to let them suspend the service and pay on November 3rd when they would restart it and start the new billing cycle. However, when Arvig gave customers a free month, they also changed the billing cycle without considering previous billing dates or prorating. I complained about this, but nothing changed. I received an invoice with a due date of March 1st and paid it on March 3rd after a service suspension. Remember, I paid for a month of service on February 3rd, but didn't receive it because of the suspension. Then, I got my April invoice with a due date of April 1st instead of April 3rd. So, I'll be paying for a month of service in March, but won't be receiving it. I called to find a solution, but they said they couldn't help me change my due date. It's really unfair to pay for a month of service and not get it, especially when I rely on social security and have a limited income.
