Terrible service experience
12/25/22 RIH store providence RI sometime between 9am-11am ordered with the cashier asked for ex butter no cheese then before the cook made it I informed him as well that I wanted ex butter on both sides of the bread. I got my food and waked all the way back to my floor at the hospital only to discover that it had cheese and was bone dry no butter. Walked all the way back to tell the cook and he proceeded to say there's no cheese and I showed him the sandwich and he still said there's no cheese then I reminded him that I asked for extra butter on both sides and he says there is butter and he points to a tiny yellow toned dot and says there's butter. I again said there's not and I asked for EXTRA butter on both sides. he said there's butter I said I don't understand why you're arguing with me I would think you want to give your customers what they want and please the customer and at that point the cashier comes over to intervene and says just make her another sandwich. He then looks at me and says rudely, well the customer isn't always right. I was so insulted that I told the cashier that I didn't want anything now and I would take a refund. I left upset that an employee would argue with a customer and then insult the customer. I have not been back since that day. Sad cause I order that very sandwich that very way no problem at least twice a week during the evening and have never had an issue before.
Desired outcome: this young man clearly needs to be fired or at the very least retrained to understand that customers are to be valued, not abused over how they want their sandwich
Bad attention
Every day from Monday to Friday, from 6 in the morning to 8, which is the time when we all want to have a coffee, only the supervisor is with the delivery man in the store, the man takes the orders and the supervisor makes the coffees, and there are very long lines, and it has happened to us several times that we have arrived and the lady is in the bathroom, the man takes the orders, and tells us that we have to wait that the supervisor come out the bathroom because he doesn't know how to make coffee, then we have to wait for her to come out of the bathroom and of course they have a long line, and it is not fair to us because it is our wasted time there, please solve this because it had never happened before and now it is happening every day from Monday to Friday.
Thank you for the attention.
Poor customer service and unable to accommodate a customer
I work at Long Island jewish hospital in NHP (NIGHT SHIFT) and I visit au bon pan so often that I know all of the employees and regular managers by first name. Tonight I wanted to get my regular decaf french roast and sandwich usually costing me around $9. Every shift I buy the same sandwich with a small decaf coffee roughly spending around $32 a week...

denied service
At an Au bon pan in New York Presbyterian Hospital, I asked for a thai wrap to be made. The young gentleman at the counter told me the kitchen was closed. I would've believed him and thought nothing of it, but after paying for a salad I didnt care for eating, and picking up the utensils and napkins, I overheard this same kid talking to another coworker who were literally a few feet away from me saying, "I could do what I want, I don't have to do anything. If this dude comes in late, I'm not waiting for him, I'm just going to leave, I don't care." Overhearring this got me angry. I could be wrong, but hearring that made me think that he did not want to make me the thai wrap I had my heart set on eating. I had a long busy shift working in the ER, and was looking forward to this meal. I even left late to go on break because I didn't want patients to be waiting for their x-rays. (I work in the radiology department). I've actually never had this happen to me and I've been coming to this Au bon pan for years ever since it opened at the hospital. This Au bon pan is open 24 hours so I don't get why he said this kitchen is closed. This experience has left me not wanting to go back.
Thank you for your time.
kendall square location, in cambridge ma 02139
I have been going to Au Bon Pain in (Kendall Square) Cambridge, MA 02139 for almost a month now. I usually get a toasted bagel with honey pecan cream cheese. I went to the register with my receipt they had given me and it rang up for the wrong price. Cashier got Manager who went and fixed the situation. While I was waiting for the correction I noticed a sign over each register that said if your receipt isn't correct or you fail to receive one you will receive 3 free meals. Well I went ahead and paid for my order. I kindly pulled the manager aside and reminded him of the sign. He proceeded to tell me the receipt in the back didn't match the one with the register and said it's now correct. I mentioned your policy posted said what happens in this kind of situation how can I receive my 3 bagels at no charge. I reminded him if he didn't come over and do what he did I would have been overcharged. He proceeded to say I tell you what if it reads that way tomorrow I will honor the sign. I said to him you already fixed it so it will be fixed. I then just told him I don't want the bagel I just want my money back. What false advertisement. I work at MIT and know so many people who looked for inexpensive but delicious food. I was disappointed that not only was he willing to loose a customer, but most disappointed in the false advertisement. I want to know what will be done about this. I want the sign to be honored. The date was this morning 8/2/2018. I gave him my receipt in order for him to know how much I should be reimbursed.
It is next to the Post Office near MIT Station (Kendall Square). Sad thing is I really love the quality of the food. I would have just settled with just getting Friday's Bagel at no charge. It is their policy not mine and when it came down to honoring the policy he would rather loose business.
catering - constantly unable to deliver on time
This complaint is for the au bon pain located at 80 pine street, ny ny 10005. On 4/20/18 two order's were placed for 27 lunch boxes to be delivered to my office for a business meeting scheduled to take place on 4/24/18 and again on 4/27/18. The scheduled delivery times for both orders were set to arrive between 12p-12:30p. On the 24th after calling the 800# for catering, as well as, the store location itself and inquiring about where our delivery was (it was ofcourse after 12:30 at this point), our delivery finally arrived at 1:50pm. During the phone calls not once did the manager apologize for the delay or offer any sort of chargeback for the inconvenience. Knowing this, I foolishly believed that if I contacted catering and changed the delivery time for the order set to arrive on the 27th that I would be taking a proactive measure to ensure early or on-time delivery... Ha! Again... The order arrived 40 minutes late. On a 3rd occasion just 1 week later, a co-worker, unbeknownst to me, placed an order through catering to have 35 lunch boxes to our suite for an auction that we were hosting. The same location ofcourse was responsible for preparing the order. This was set to arrive between 12:15-12:45. When I heard that she ordered from this au bon pain, I told her that she should call ahead to check the status of her delivery. At 12:00 she called to find out if her order was set to arrive at the advised upon time. She was advised by "matthew" that the order would not be arriving until after 1pm! When she asked why hadn't she been made aware, she was told that all of the catering orders for the day would be arriving late! Whhhhhhhhyyyyyyy? Is my question. No apologies again, matthew said to "call catering to make a complaint". This is absolutely unprofessional! I know how frustrating and upset it is to receive my meal late... Imagine 35 starving people in a room with no clue when their meals are going to arrive not to mention how unprofessional you come across... Take my advice and order elsewhere. The only thing au bon pain was successful at was being an au bon pain in my [censored]!
cherry danish
I have called the 800 number once a day for 5 days. The manager who rang my order up in the Au Bon Pain in Union Station in Washington DC admitted, when I showed him, that the cherry danish had a problem with it. A customer several behind me in line told me to get going, I was taking too long. I said that since he, the customer behind me, was not paying for the product, that I had a right to politely point the matter out to the manager, who said that he was aware of it and had "told them" whoever the "them" refers to. The customer behind me continued to insult me, he was in a suit, he had a salad to purchase but seemed in no hurry. I told the manager that I did not want the product, I placed it next to the manager in its plastic bag, and eventually with the other customer obviously being favored by the manager, I took the product and gently placed it in the trash to prevent re-selling. Why not just remove an item or items of the same genre if there is a problem? Instead, sell the product to a senior citizen. SHAME. I offered to call the local news media to get cameras to the store, which I have patronized for many years, as do many Amtrak and Greyhound and MARC commuters. SHAME.
unethical behavior
Employee Desma or Jazma, not sure of her name she works at au bon pain on 125 south wacker is rude to her co worker and was rude to me when I asked her a question, she was not clear so I asked her co worker and she yelled saying he was giving me the wrong information, she then stated out loudly he does not listen and needs to learn to listen. After I paid for my purchase no thank you, she just walked away from the register.
cookie campaign
I have been a customer of the AuBonPain located at 1850 M Street NW, Washington DC 20036 for many years. I probably spend between $30 and $40 a week at that location. Recently, I picked up a card stating Free Chocolate Chip Cookie. However, when I picked up my cookie along with the coffee I was paying for, I was told at the register that because I did not complete a review on your site, my cookie was not free. I do not know what your definition of the word "free" is, but if you have to spend 10 or 20 minutes completing a form and you are paid by the hour, that is not free. I feel strongly about this false advertising, strongly enough that I can go to other places for lunch, coffee and snacks.
I await your response. If you do not care about losing a long-time customer, then, I won't care about no longer patronizing a long-time vendor. Lee Peltzman
service
Location of this store is: 300 Community Drive Manhasset, NY 11030, [protected] This store is new, located in the heart of a very prestigious Health Center, North Shore Hospital. I can tell from the beginning that here the service sucks! It is very slow, very unprofessional, without accountability or respect. The workers behave like they are in a...
Read full review of Au Bon PainWrong Charges on Receipt multiple times
This location in the Pentagon City Mall in Virginia has a history of over charging over multiple ocassions. Manager has been notified and it is still happening.
Last incident checked off Avocado and the person making the salad did not add but was charged. The charges are minor but that seems to be a bad practice and the company could be benefiting from across the multiple stores with these practices.
The complaint has been investigated and resolved to the customer’s satisfaction.
racist cashier
On my way out of the store the cashier made a racist remark. I hadn't said one word throughout the whole transaction so I do not understand what would make her rudely utter "uggh CHINNNEEESE PEOPLE." If I hadn't been on my way to work, I would have said something. It still bothers me.
The complaint has been investigated and resolved to the customer’s satisfaction.
### all haters. This big dick is ready for some blowing. Hit me up if you want a taste of this salty bad-boy.
My guess is the OP was acting rudely, however just because the OP was acting rudely does not give the employee of judging the whole race by one person's behavior. I don't think it was a racist comment rather the way the employee said it more than the comment itself.
Oh, well, With that being said, I'm done for now..
"Why didn't you say CAO NI MA (fouth tone) and left at their confusion"
I'm sorry, but when I back someone up on this (Noone usually does) I stay for the duration.
"C.Yes, I'm an Asian welfare Baby!, be my guess."
Good answer!
However, you won't get the results of your grade until next week..I'm too busy with my studies! ;^)
"LOL! Funny little man, you sure like to twist ### around as usual of your kind. you are not my scapegoat here, nope you have a sickness, a hatred of white people."
Assuming that I do hate white people, which I don't BTW, What concern of it of yours...My "Native American" friend...Curious, most N.A. I know consider themselves by their tribal name, (Of which many already know) and NOT by the political correct term given by those who now run the country of their ancestor's usurpers!...Unless of course, you either have a percentage on their great grand parent's side so you consider yourself N.A. at least that's what you evoke at the first sign of an accusation of being a racist (Like...Now) You're N.A. but do not identify with your people as much as you do with white people, or you could be a white person, who just wants to put me in my place by proving me wrong..It really doesn't matter, that's a question you already know the answer to.
I can only deduce by your behavior and your responses..And my experience with scores of people/cultures that I've studied over the decades, but I could be wrong.
But still, why would my "hatred" towards whites have any impact on a Native American? Assuming I'm not white myself.. ;^)
"Takezo2K11, dont you have a job to go to? Or are you living off the goverment?"
Lol, Ya know, it's kind of cool to not even have an emotional investment by these posts...Ok, here goes..
Answer:
A.No I'm a full time student taking 16 hrs
B.Yes, I'm a welfare baby!
C.Yes, I'm an Asian welfare Baby!
D.None of the above.
E.I'm whatever you want me to be..
And no, we're not grading on a curve here, so it's alright!
"So you are setting an example of your people, so what do you expect? And if you cry white ###, Im a Native American ###."
It doesn't matter what "Race" you are, You still are a hateful, spiteful person who tries to cover up his hatred by lashing out and blaming others! I may be your scapegoat here..But this is a online forum, there are more important people in my life that I concern myself with, not anonymous people of the internet who will read/see what they want to see anyways, my life will go on as usual! ;^) Still you assume too much, much more than what I ever did...Ironic, that.
"ok Takezo2K11, let me get this straight...anyone says anything and you say it is racist but you are free to be as racists as you want "to make a point" isn't that the kettle calling the pot black...speaking of Kettle, I just gave way part of my race and no I am not black...go back in your history book and find someone with that name"
Heh, seeing your response is a clear indication of how you view my points, which is a simple knee-jerk reaction to someone even mentioning anything "Racist" I have found that an incredibly large majority of whites (U.S. and Canada) have been on the receiving end of the Blacks, Mexicans, Asians and the indigenous peoples of your country's continued accusations of racism and I can actually relate to the frustrations of how it's irritating to have someone always coating your intentions and way of life is an oppression towards them, even when a lot of those accusations are false (I've lived in new york and the tension goes back for generations, so does the ### claims) especially when you're trying to do the right thing and it feels like they're spitting right in your face.
However, this is not the case with the Original Poster, and to remain defensive and hostile even when there is a slight perception of a complaint of racism simply does nothing for the actual claim of true racism as much as the false claim of entitlement, or vindictive zeal from those who want to play the race card.
"Heath, read this post, another asian biggot .
http://www.complaintsboard.com/complaints/spca-c442185/page/13.html#c988347"
Ironic...How most of you people have self righteously scolded me on my assumptions towards claiming to know your race, (I never did, just your knee-jerk reactions.) yet you people are convinced that you know mine!
Thanks again Jim, for proving me right twice!
