I have been a Bank of America card holder for more than 10 happy years BUT recently I was left on my own. The problem is with the BOA Pending Charges Policy. Customer Service has no idea how to help.
There has been a pending charge on my account which has diminished my spending limit. The transaction is now 11 days old. I contacted the merchant as requested by BOA the first time. The merchant, a reputable hospital, showed me their transaction files as going through and being refunded to BOA within 4 hours. I have the 10 day old refund receipt from this merchant. The pending charges of over 10k have been blocking the entire spending limit for the card for the past 10 days. I am traveling abroad and no one is helping me from BOA even after multiple calls to BOA Customer Service. What good is a card when you are stranded in a foreign country. BOA seems to have a 'no mans land' policy for its pending charges and no rush system for removing them from my account, yet it subtracts the pending charge from the spending limit.
I would suggest that if something is a pending charge then the spending limit should not be diminished and if the situation calls for it then BOA customer service employees should have a contingency plan for its card holding clients. "Sorry Sir, there is nothing we can do", seems like a missed opportunity for BOA.
