Mixed Experience with Bartleby
As someone who values accuracy and reliability in academic resources, my experience with Bartleby has been mixed. While the platform offers a vast array of textbook solutions and a 24/7 Q&A library, the accuracy of the answers provided has been inconsistent. Some answers were inaccurate, leading to frustration and wasted time. Additionally, the subscription model and billing practices have left much to be desired, with reports of unexpected charges and difficulties in obtaining refunds. However, the platform's potential to assist students in understanding complex concepts is evident, especially with the availability of subject matter experts. Overall, Bartleby has the potential to be a valuable resource for students, but improvements in accuracy, billing transparency, and customer service are necessary for a more positive user experience.
-

- Not as widely recognized as Chegg or Course Hero.
- Fewer tools for STEM subjects than competitors.

The premium subscription.
I began a free 7 day trial for Bartleby.com to access some information to help with an essay. I was dissapointed with the service, finding the published essay pretty useless and simple. Having read a few of the essays, marked the highest I realised that there was no use in continuing using the platform. After the week I had forgotten about my subsciption and I have now been charged £30 for another whole month even though it is very unclear that this is how much it costs. It says online that it costs $9.99 so I do not understand how this has translated into as much as £30.
Desired outcome: I am very dissapointed by the service and I am confused by the charge I have received. I would appreicate a response and I am requesting a refund of £30 on the grounds that the fee is unexpected and the service is not worth the amount.
Subscription
Don't ever subscribe and enter your personal card detrails on Bertleby. I have charged twice for the same subscription on the following day that I signedin. I gave all the transactions details I got from my bank to them but they very irresponsive and they said did'nt do it from their side. They are cheating by taking unauthorize money from our card. Not recommended.
unknown subscription charged to my card
I received an email on Sunday, November 6th, 2022 notifying me that this company was going to be charging my card for my subscription to the service they provide (i don't know what that service is) and when I tried to cancel, there is no account for me. I would remember if this was something I signed up for, and I never signed up for this. The only communication I have with this company is them letting me know that they were going to be charging me for their services that they are not providing.
On November 14th, 2022, I was charged $14.99 from them and this was 100% an UNAUTHORIZED debt charge.
Desired outcome: I need to be refund the $14.99 they stole from me and they need to delete ANY information they have regarding me.

Highly recommended, but caution will not hurt.

Bartleby.com has been deemed safe to visit, as it is protected by a cloud-based cybersecurity solution that uses the Domain Name System (DNS) to help protect networks from online threats.
Bartleby.com you are considering visiting, which is associated with Bartleby.com, is very old. Longevity often suggests that a website has consistently provided valuable content, products, or services over the years and has maintained a stable user base and a sustained online presence. This could be an indication of a very positive reputation.
Several positive reviews for Bartleby.com have been found on various review sites. While this may be a good sign, it is important to approach these reviews with caution and consider the possibility of fake or biased reviews.
Bartleby.com website is deemed to be popular and indicating that it receives a high volume of traffic. It is important to be cautious when using a highly trafficked website, as it may be a target for cybercriminals looking to exploit vulnerabilities or steal personal information.
This website offers payment methods that provide the option for customers to get their money back, which could be a positive indicator of the company's commitment to customer satisfaction.
However ComplaintsBoard has detected that:
- While Bartleby.com has a high level of trust, our investigation has revealed that the company's complaint resolution process is inadequate and ineffective. As a result, only 0% of 105 complaints are resolved. The support team may have poor customer service skills, lack of training, or not be well-equipped to handle customer complaints.
- Bartleby.com has a strict no-refund policy for all purchases, and any attempts to dispute a charge with the credit card company are met with evidence of the policy. This prevents many chargebacks, but also results in dissatisfied customers who feel they have no recourse.
- Bartleby.com protects their ownership data, a common and legal practice. However, from our perspective, this lack of transparency can impede trust and accountability, which are essential for establishing a credible and respected business entity.
Unauthorized debit card charge
My first time ever hearing about Bartleby is from a fraudulent debit card charge that appeared on my account. Contacting their customer service is next to impossible, and once you DO get someone, they can't do anything since you don't know the member account that used your card. They don't care as long as they're getting paid. You're better off disputing the charges through your bank and taking care of it that way.
Desired outcome: I would appreciate a refund, but it's unlikely to come from this company.
Bartleby charging an amount I did not agree to
I cancelled my subscription, same day I purchased it and have been getting charged 29.95 monthly, no email to warn me. I even removed my card from my account yet they still charge me.
Desired outcome: Refund for everybody in this same situation because I'm not the only one. If I had the money, I would file a lawsuit for their unethical practices.
Bartleby
I’m being charged 10 dollars despite never even signing up for this service or even making an account, I tried calling and their phones are shut down. This is an outrage.
Desired outcome: Refund
Unauthorised subscription charges
I have been charged for services I have not used or signed up for and I would like a refund please. I believe this is fraudulent. I did not request to use your resources and I have been charged three times in the last three months for absolutely nothing. I am very unhappy about this and I insist that it is rectified urgently!
Desired outcome: Refund
Unauthorized charges
I had subscribed to Bartleby Research and paid $7 for 7 days trial, then it was going to be charged monthly if I did not cancel. However, there was not an option to cancel in my account, which has led to US $29.95 being charged to my account.
Hopefully, this can get resolved and I won't have to cancel my card. It is unethical to have a promotion with an opt-out offer where, due to your technical difficulties on your site, it is not available to the customer.
Desired outcome: Refund
Unwarranted Subscription
I woke up to a charge of 29.5 USD. This is really disappointing because I only registered for the 2 day subscription
Desired outcome: I want my money refunded

That girls voice in the ad on YouTube is so incredibly annoying. I'm never going to use Bartleby bro. I pay for chegg, it's worth it. Get that annoying lady off my phone, thanks
I am complaining about the speed of getting answer
Greetings,
I am here to complain about the speed of getting answer. I have paid for it and I didn't get the answer in the time, this doesn't help me out. I'm running out of time while waiting for the answer. I hope the problem can be solved.
Thank you.
i want to cancel my subscription
i want to cancel my bartleby subscription
Charged after cancelation
Received an email January of 2021 that my subscription had been canceled successfully. I Have now been charged 6 times at $9.99 a month and had to cancel AGAIN. I don't not want my card on file with this website.
Desired outcome: Refund.
This is also my situation. What did you do with this? Can you please tell me what you did to resolve this problem?
Registration difficulty
While registering myself as bartleby expert I am not getting subject options for selecting the preferred subject expert. This is happening since today morning. What should I do now?
I am attaching the screenshot of the issue what I am trying to describe. Instead of giving subject options blue underline is being shown.
Kindly look into the matter and do the needful as soon as possible.
Fraudulent Charges
Who in the heck are you ? I never heard of you until I checked my bank statement and see that you've charged my bank card since April 2021 for $4.99, May for $9.99, June for $9.99, July for $9.99. I have contacted my bank...Resolution...return my money !
Subscription
I have subscribed to Bartleby Research on 23/2/2021 and paid $7 for 7 days trial, then it will be charged monthly if not cancel. However, there wasn't an option to cancel in my account, which had led to AUD 39.95 being charged on 2/3/2021. I sent quite a few emails to the support team to get a refund, however, they ignored my emails. I am pretty sure many customers have encountered the same situation which is unethical. Hopefully, it can get resolved.
Desired outcome: Refund
Charged
I was charged for an account I did not want and on my credit card. Yet I do not see any account that I have that I got charged but on my credit card it says it got charged by Bartleby.trial.
Bartleby Write and Bartleby Learn
My daughter bought books for her college classes at University of Nevada, Reno in January, 2021. She used my credit card. The cashier asked her if she wanted a free trial of Bartleby. My daughter said no. Apparently she received the "free trial" anyways. My credit card got billed $9.99 twice each month for Bartleby. Cancelling is difficult because they only take emails. They have a policy TO NOT REFUND! Even though my daughter didn't accept this product and NEVER used it. They are unethical. DON'T use this company. They only want your money and they don't care about helping struggling students.
Subscription
Every math problem I needed help with they got them wrong caused me to get an f and they won't give refund what a joke bartleby is garbage they got 50 math problems incorrect that is awful I might as well have asked my 4 year old son for help I feel as if they are nothing more than a rip off taking peoples money and they can't even help people with there work they get every damn answer wrong I'm guessing they have preschoolers working there over all I want my $10.00 bucks back I wasted on bartleby subscription
Desired outcome: A refund
