Intenté realizar 3 llamadas del aeropuerto de Madrid sin lograr comunicarme y me cobraron 43 euros por cada una de esas llamadas que nisiquiera lograron realizarse, ES UN ROBO
Outrageous Phone Call Rates
While out of the country in Central America, my teenage son attempted to make an international call back to the US from a pay phone using his VisaBuxx card. Unaware of the negative consequences associated with such practices he was subsequently charged US$27 per minute for a call that was not connected and lasting LESS than 2 minutes. Needless to say he was not notified prior to the call of any charges or rates.
This predatory business practice may be exceedingly profitable to BBG, however it is OUTRAGEOUS in its application. I have notified the Attorney's General of my state and the United States. I intend pursue any and all remedies available within Luxembourg via the US Embassy. As well, I have placed notification on every pay phone in the countries to which I travel (the stickers cost less than US$27).
This company, under any DBA they choose, must be stopped and held accountable for their practices. The reality in these situations is that when one is closed ten more open, often by the same people.

This is still happening in 2015! We were in Shanghai and our flight along with all other flights to or via Hong Kong were cancelled with no information as to when we would be rescheduled. I tried to contact my family to let them know we wouldn't be home on time and only had my card to use at the pay phone - the call was operator assisted but it didn't even connect and the swines have charged me $65. We are still stuck in Shanghai trying to get home to Australia so I can't even cancel my card yet :-( this is unbelievable that this company can still 4 years after the last complaint on this board rip people off.
I was charged OVER $300 and only made ONE call. I guess as long as they have your debit card #, they can keep charging. I used the card once on saturday and there were 3 charges, I looked today (Tuesday) and there is another one for over $100! I had to cancel my card, because I am afraid they will keep charging non existent calls! I used the card at the train station in Rome, Italy. What a mess this has been, especially since I am from the USA and had to cancel my card and spend hours dealing with my bank, and now have to dispute all of this.
Verizon PROMISED me my GLOBAL phone would work in Italy, and it did not. I even called them 4 times before the trip to confirm. Sometimes things happen where you HAVE to use the pay phone, and I'm sure these jerks know that and obviously profit from it.

Happened the same with me, I got to Amsterdam airport and couldnt find a friend of mine I was supossed to meet there, my cel phone was out of area so I decied to use the public phone there... the first time I called her she didnt answer, the second time we talked for less than 2 min! Last night I was cheking my account balance and I have two "pending transactions" of 38 euros !
I didnt even know what was this BBG stuff so I've just googled it and here I am reading all your complaints! Was anybody able to do something about it? I'm from Brasil and I'm leaving in Spain so it seems like even harder to get in touch with someone... Did anybody get your money back, or part of it, by any chance? We cant let it happen over and over again rigth!?
I was at the Los Angeles, International airport and I used my card to make a local call from a payphone, expecting the call to cost the same as a cash call, boy was I mistaken. Out of the six calls I made, I only got through once and talked for less than one minute, yet my card was charged $19.98 each time. There were zero notifications of the alternate price for card use. Of course, had I known, I never would have agreed to such outlandish charges for a local call. I made a transaction dispute with my bank, but feel like this company(BBG Communications-Luxembourg) is going to continue scamming people. I definitely feel as though a class action law suite is in order.
My Wife was at CDG Paris Airport and just tried to call Australia 3 times and was charged Aust $ 58.21 and did not get through. It appears on the Credit Card statement as BBG COMMUNICATIONS LUXEMBOURG LU LU $58.21 and now 3 days later we get chared Aust $ 0.95 for nothing? This company is a rip off murchant. Here is their details.

I called their company in regards to my charges and they said that the only fee that showed up on their system was a $0.95 validation fee. The other charges were not on their system. I was charged $7.19 and $7.22 for two calls. One of those calls did not even go through. I asked them if I should speak to my credit card company and tell them that fraudulent charges have been made, and they said yes. So I called my credit card company and they credited the fees back to my card saying I'm a loyal customer. They said next time I can't get a refund. They say I would have to speak to the Better Business Bureau next time if this issue cannot be handled by speaking to BBG.

Exceptional High telepnone cost from Germany to Inverness Scotland
I had the same experience from BBG Luxembourg (BBG Communications). I was on Frankfurt Airport on 12 December 18h30, had a World Call Card (10 Euros), but it did not work with the payphones (T-Mobile) on the airport, did not want to accept my code for authorisation on the card. I have made a call to my friend in Scotland with my credit card; the lady did not disclose the cost to me. My friend’s phone went to voice mail as he was not available and I hung up. The call was not even 2 seconds. I received a SMS from my bank for the cost of R325.00 (30 Euros) and when I have checked my credit card statement I have noticed that I have been debited yesterday (22/12/2009) with R7.00 and again today with a further R325.00. This is ridiculous to pay this kind of money for a call that was not even made. This is even more expensive than opening up your cell phone for international call roaming. If I look at all the complaints against this company, I am surprised that nobody has done something to the company as this is a total rip-off of uninformed tourists. Surely one can be warned about the high cost before making the call. I will never make use of their services again.
Good morning Hi I use the phone on Manchester Airport for local call for 4 second they charge me£3 😡 that’s scam?march2017
Just spoke for about 3 minutes at Singapore Airport at the booth phone to Melbourne, Australia.. My God, it had cosed me Australian $ 39.50 for this. This is atrocious as one gets to know about this only after checking the credit card acc. and people get exploited. Singapore airport being one of the most busy and accessed one, this has to be taken care of by the concerned officials and necessary action taken. I never expected such a thing from a country like Singapore. They can also have a cost and time meter beside the phone to know a bit what is going.
The BBG is cheating... I made a phone call to China on Goteborg street public phone, less than 2 minutes, and I can hear nothing because of the bad communications quality... at last, the BBG charged $41.91 in my credit card... what a terrible company are they! Why I can't get information of the price on the instruction posted or the voice instruction before my dialing numbers...
Actually, the local tele company in Sweden charge 30 SEK per minute... tell me why I should pay much more money to you... a cheater...
BBG COMMUNICATIONS Class Action.
Latest update.
On November 17th 2010 BBG applied to the court for a dismissal of the class action but their motion was denied.
The case is due for a first hearing early 2011.

I made one phone call from the airport in Bali, Indonesia to Sydney, Australia. An operator told me that my VISA debit card would not work and so used my credit card instead, now I have charges on both, I emailed then to get it corrected and now they have put other charges on my credit card for calls that I could not have possibly made. I have had to put a block on my credit card until this whole things sorts itself out. This has turned out to be a very stressful time for one short phone all to home. Don't use BBG communications.
I recently travelled to Singapore for work and while staying at Changi Village tried to make a phone call to tell my girlfriend in Australia the time I would be home. I tried 5 attemps to call with no success (always a unavailable dial tone) and finally gave up. I checked my bank statement 2 days later and they have charged me $216 AUD. I have been in contact with my bank and i will be disputing the claim I will keep posted about the outcome.
Ok 2014 and still on...
I've tried to make four calls that never reached the person I wanted to talk with
12$ each call from nz to nz for few seconds...
I had to call my bank to find out that it was BBG Vienna... Well different place same scam.
Nothing has changed...
I wonder if any action had been taken against them since.
This company needs to be prosecuted! I was charged 29.94 for 4 mins call-- i even don't know if it was 4 minutes! The company rep explained to me that their connection fee is $10 plus around $ 5 per minute. I made a call from Frankfurt to Russia. For comparison, the call from USA to Germany costs me about 4 cents a minute. No warning or disclaiming a fee per minute was done by the operator! I am surprised that a busy airport like Frankfurt has only one telecom provider, and they are not very customer oriented. I will be disputing this charge on my card, may be unsuccessfully, but recommend not to use the BBG telecom ever!

I was traveling through the Frankfurt Main International Airport on company business April 27, 2011. Before departing I placed two calls, each lasting a few minutes, to my employer in New York City. Initial attempts using a calling card and several T-Mobile public phones were unsuccessful. T-Mobile phones are designed to accept credit cards; therefore, I opted to use my company issued credit card.
Despite the fact that I inserted the credit card into the telephone card reader an international operator answered and requested my credit card information before placing the calls. I foolishly assumed the charges would be reasonable.
Hours later, when I arrived at the hotel several emails from the company were waiting, informing me that further use of the card is restricted and suggested fraudulent use had taken place. I continued reading the emails only to discover that I was charged $36.17 for each call!
This is an egregious act of corporate GREED, it is UNETHICAL, and represents the worst form of ABUSE and customer service. BBG Luxembourg and or T-Mobile (failure to clearly disclose) should promptly issue full refunds to customers subjected to this FRAUDULENT ACTIVITY! Shame on you BBG Luxembourg for perpetuating this FLAGRANT SCAM!
Better Business Bureau
Robbed by BBG as well. On my way to the combat zone in Iraq from Ft. Hood, TX with a brief layover in Liepzig, Germany. While in Liepzig, the only phones available were the ones in the "secure zone" of the terminal meant for US Soldiers traveling to/from either Iraq or Afghanistan. No carrier name was on these phones, nor was there any sort of "price per minute" on or near the phones either. Attempts to use an AT&T Calling Card on these phones proved fruitless, because the only thing they would take was a credit card.
Made a quick 4 minute call from Liepzig to Copperas Cove, TX and received a bill from BBG for $38 instantly. Four days later, that bill turned into another $80 from straight out of the blue. Wife contacted the Better Business Bureau, and now we're waiting on word from them to see what can be done to put BBG out of business...completely.

ripped off / scam international phone call
While I was in London on May 12 I made an international phone call using a phone that was in my hostel. The first phone call lasted less than 30 seconds because I dialed the incorrect number and hung up. The second phone call was about 10 minutes. When I returned to the states I checked my credit card bill to find that they charged $119.70. It was $41.91 for the first phone call and $76.84. When I called the company (International Satellite Communications) they couldn't explain to me exactly how the charges work but when I threaten them with complaints to the BBB, FTC, and FCC they told me they could cut the charges by 50%. I think this is still a ridiculous amount for 2 phone calls lasting about 10 minutes. They told me that if I tried to fight it they would take their refund back. I have filed complaints with the BBB, FTC, and FCC but I'm not sure where to go from here. I googled this company and so many others have been ripped off. This company is such a scam and people need to know.
I have read that people are interested in filing a class action lawsuit. I am very interested and I would like to do it if others would join in. Send me an email through this website.

Overcharged phone bill
I was in Cozumel Mex. and at the Park Royal Resort. I had to make 2 phone calls to place orders for a business in the states. Followed direction on hotel phone for use of credit card to make phone calls. I made the two phone calls each lasting 3 minutes each. I was contacted by credit dard company to verify usage and was told each call was $36.00 each. I had no idea what the charges would have been if so I would not have made those calls. I feel the resort also should have had a price list on the phone to alert me to the price of these calls.

Credit Card charges
This is a follow up of a complaint I posted about 3 months ago on a BBG Communications scam. I am pleased to inform everyone who has had similar problems with them that I have been successful in obtaining full refund of AUD$176. Go directly to you bank as I did, submit a dispute form, outling the complaint. Refunds may take a while as the bank has to do their own investigations, but in the long run it is worth it. If EVERYONE who has been scammed did this then the BBG Communications and others like them would be on their knees. I would like to add that I had an exact same experience with a different company in Italy totalling AUD$203. Once again I approached my bank and after investigations have received a full refund. Justice for the consumer.

I was charged 200.00 US for 1 call! how can i get ahold of this company!
Since last week, BBG has been doing this to me. I was in London Heathrow airport and made 2 successful international calls and one failed call on 18th December 2009, which was anyway too much for 2 minute call($20+ per call). But these guys have been debiting my credit card even yesterday and today when my card wasnt used at all. on 18th Dec - they have charged for 3 calls(including failed call) - for a total of $60+ and today they have charged again $22+ that I had to block my credit card.
They robbed me too, but the issue is not your complaint or my complaint. The issue is that these criminals continue to get away with robbing people like us. Only when these crooks are tried, convicted, and have served hard prison time will justice be done.
I also contacted my bank but they told me that I had to contact the company fisrt (BBG France), which I did by mail (letter). Still waiting for an answer.
I will try to use an error in the date of the charges to get my money back:
I was charged 46 euros (60 US$) for a call from Monaco to Montreal. My bank report indicates that they took the charges on April 27 for a call from Monaco on April 23. But I wasn't in Monaco that day! In fact, I made the call on April 12 for Easter...
If BBG refuses to cooperate, I will follow your advice and contact my bank again for sure!
credit card phone call
While on a recent trip to Mexico we made a 2 -3 min call to our son inlaw using a credit card from the hotel lobby. The purpose of the call was to give him our room # in the event of an emergency. Ten days later a charge of $41.50 usd was posted to our credit card account by a company called BBG located in London. We had no idea what this charge was for until we checked the internet and discovered that this is a communication company that has been scamming people using credit cards to make phone calls. We will certainly be disputing this fraudulent charge and calling Interval International our booking agent as well as the Villa del Palmar in Puerto Vallarta to discuss this incident. We urge anyone scammed by this company to do all you can to expose these thiefs.

Unathourized charge
I'm U.S. Navy and recently made a pay phone call while in port in the western pacific islands. The pay phone would only accept a credit card and gave no rates or company name at all. I took a $30 charge for a 15 min call and wrote it off as 'should have known better'. However, a month later i find $76 charged to my card from this BBG Communications for no apparent reason at all. I'm still in the process of trying to get my money back and will most likely have to cancel my card just to keep them from continuing to charge me without using thier services at all. Watch out for these guys. They're a bunch of crooks.
Dear Sir/Madam,
This is to report you that I have unauthorized money deduction from credit card by BBG Communications.
I used payphone Booth on 10th April '16 . I found they deducted $200 for two calls.
Kindly investigate this and take necessary action to prevent happening same again.
I also called my family in China on 31 AUG from Changi Airport, Singapore. I did not buy the phone card thinking that that might be expensive as I might not have used up all the credits in the phone card. So preferred to use my Gold Visa Card. Just checked the account and to my surprise the total bill charged to my account is about US$80. Talk time would have been hardly 2-3 minutes.
I tried to make a phone call form a public telephone in El salvador Airport to Costa Rica.
The phone call was not answer but even though i get charged 49.10 usd in my credit card.
I have been charged AUD 77, 00 for a 2/3 minutes call in a payphone in Paris to a french mobile number. Thats abusive.
I called my mum on her birthday from a pay phone in France to the UK, a 5 minute call cost £68

I just came back from Hannover, Germany and without knowing how much of a ripp off it would be, i used their services... One day, i was having a problem using my debit card for my call. I had to try inserting my card 3 times before i finally got somebody' help. I was told by BBG my credit card did not work and was asked if i wanted to use another one. Come to find out, every time my card was rejected, i was getting charged $45 just for trying to connect. Fortunately my bank had blocked my debit card because of suspicious charges from BBG. Today i just received a credit card statement with a $ 98.80 ~ 20 minutes phone call to the USA ! Seriously ? $100.00 for 20 minutes? How can this happen? Something needs to be done. The rates are nowhere to be seen when you use one of their phone...Please pass on the word about BBG...They need to be stopped. HUGE RIPP OFF !
Guys, the same thing happened to me. We were in the Bahamas and I did ask what the cost was per minute. I got charged $41.00 three times. I called my credit card and was basically told to get lost. I went to the Better Business Bureau - filed a report, took about 3 weeks and now my refund should come within the next 2 weeks.
Mybank was / is crap. They said I made the calls and they didn't want to get in a he said - she said argument (because the 'international operator' told met he price). Guys- you need to file complaints. We all have to say something it can't be that people let themselves get ripped off. You have to say no. Its not okay to do this to us.

Charge ridiculous money on a local call
I made a phone call to Durham (919 682 3XX0) at Los Angles airport on Aug 21st 2008 when I do transfer to Durham. I used my credit card to pay the cost of phone call on a pay phone located near McDonald, close to Boarding Gate 54.
I dialed the number first, and I was told that this call will cost USD$1 / per 4 minutes (machine synthesized language). Then I heard some dialing sound that seems connecting the call. However, instead of connecting to destination, I was connected to a customer service line. A man asked me whether I need call 919 682 3XX0, I answered yes. Then the call was connected.
Today (Aug 28, 2008), I found that my credit card was charged for $34.03 through a company called "BBG Communications London GB". I searched Google and found many people are complaining about ripping off by this company. So I made a phone call to [protected] (found here: /URL removed/). A customer representative said they do billing for BBG Communications. They asked my credit card, and said they can refund AUD$ 13.61 to my card. I asked them to refund this amount to my card. But I am still feel they charged too much and didn't disclose enough information when I initial used their service.
Following are some information I got over the conversation:
Duration: 9:00 minutes (I definitely not make phone call that long, only 4-5 minutes)
Pay phone Area code: 310
AUD$34.03 Connection Fee and Permanent Rate
Connection Fee: AUD$10 (Never disclose this information before hand. After I dial [protected], it remind me cost USD$1 for 4 minutes)
Permanent Rate: AUD$2.67 / per minute (Never disclose this information).
They agreed to credit back: AUD$13.61 within 30-60 days.
The complaint has been investigated and resolved to the customer’s satisfaction.
I RECIVED A BILL ON MY VISA ACCOUNT AND I DONT EVEN KNOW WHO THESE PPL ARE
This happened to me too. I called the 800 number listed on the item line of each charge on my credit card, and I think they said they were Satellite Internet. He said that all UK phone calls were via satellite (is he lying?) and that there is a $10 connection fee and it was 1.25/minute. He then gave me a one-time reimbursement of 40% of my $220 combined charges to help out with the cost. This whole ordeal was absurd. Never going back to London again. My New Zealand calls came out to 68 cents and $1.24 to use their local access numbers, which is way more realistic.
Credit card phone charges
We were recently caught out by a missed flight in Stockholm and had to call to Australia and USA to resolve the flight problems. We didnt have any local currency to call with and the only option was to use the Credit card, the other option on the phone in the airport. (No indication as to the price... not that anyone could foresee the potential charges one...

I was in Singapore Changi Airport and using my credit card to call my girlfriend in China for about 10 minutes. And I was charged more than AUD30.00 for the call. This is completely ###! What kind of service is this! Felt like swearing about this!
I just had the same experience in London Heathrow Airport! I made a local call for 3mins, my credit card was charged US$10! Crazy and ridiculous! This company shouldn’t exist in the wold!
I am a victim of overcharging, yesterday I forgot my mobile and had to ring home, a local call to the next town and no more than 60p in the public call box.
They have taken £6 from my account for a 1 minute call, that is a disgrace
And another 95p has gone out today
I agree. I stupidly
made a call too some massechusses which only lasted all of 20mins. The next day I had a call from my bank asking If I'd made the call and I said yes but was informed by my bank at the time the call had been charged too me from BBG at £17.70 yet when I checked my account a few days later I found the robbing ### had taken £59.80.Now my fight is on with them and my bank.
Why has nothing been done about this rip off company, I had the same all complaints above, in a pay phone using my credit card in Manchester, England to a landline in `Sheffield, England, they took 2 x's £6.56 then tried to take £25.00 but I got through to an operator who said my credit card had been declined, thank goodness my credit card company stopped this, thinking it had been stolen and that BBG communications had tried 4 times to collect £6.56 ! I will never go in a pay phone again. In the end I went into Vodafone store and used there phone FREE
### GBP60 for 2 x 2 min calls to UK from Paris
YET ANOTHER POOR VICTIM HERE RIPPED OFF BY THESE FILTHY CROOKS AT BBG. THEY SHOULD BE HUNG! MADE THREE CALLS FROM COSTA RICA TO CALIFORNIA. ONE TO MY MOTHER ON X-MAS DAY LASTING LESS THAN 3 MIN., A SECOND MADE TO CHECK MY VOICEMAIL IN WHICH I WAS CUT OFF SHORT LESS THAN 10 SECONDS, AND A THIRD TO FINALLY RETREIVE MY MESSAGES LASTING LESS THAN A MINUTE OR TWO. EACH CALL WAS CHARGED TO MY VISA AT $49.10 U.S.! $147.30 FOR LESS THAN 5 MINUTES PHONE TIME! WHERE IS THE JUSTICE? HANG THESE CORPORATE CRIMINALS!
Yep, just got nailed too. I'm in Bali and made 2 calls for about 20-25 minutes each. Each totaled almost $100. This was inside the Hard Rock Cafe, so I'm guessing they'll find it interesting that their international and highly public company is hosting rip-off phones in their lobby.
Suggest complaining to hosting establishment, the bank, and alerting BBG that you will be pursuing a charge back if they don't reverse the charges. Banks should not be allowing them to run credit cards with the number of outstanding complaints that they have.
I am another victim of BBG Communication at Belgium airport. My wife called me from Brussel airport to US and she just left voice message to my cell and that was for less than a min. And they have charged $49.38. my bank called me for unauthorised transaction but as a responsible citizen I told to the bank that yes we have used the credit card but the price they have charged is beyond expectation. After that Bank authorized that transaction and when I spoke at BBG Communication customer service then they spoke so rudely, you cant imagine... eventually they told me that they would return $19.75 as a courtesy and it would be in your bank within 2-3 days.
And they gave the break down also i.e. connection charge 16.99 + 5.29 min. charge.. that too comes at$22.28 but they dont had any explanation of $49 charge... it sucks...
OUR USA GOVT. should take some actiona against such company! I dont have that much time otherwise I would have sued them or any such kind of provider.
Same here for two short calls from denver airport to a mobile phone in atlanta. Less than 2 minutes and i was charges A$ 38.
Bloody disgusting. How is this possible in this day and age, and in so many places?
I have just been charged AU$350 for 5 separate short calls (all
Enormous charges
I try to call my wife's mobile from Singapore, she was in Sydney. She never pickup the call. But when I came back to Sydney and saw my credit card statement there was A$20 charge on it from BBG communication - London. Even the date of transaction is wrong on it. Not sure who to talk about this? I am worried if they can charge someone such an amount for only ringing (not talking) how much you would have charged me if I have spoken to wife. Can some one give me their contact number or some other details? Thanks.

Check out the regulators and ask if it is legal not posting rate info

Same thing for me, I made 2 calls from Sandals Antigua to New York, and I was charged $85! Calls were only about 3 mins each. Funny thing is, I called the front desk before making the credit card calls and they said they did not know the rates. And there was no info on the phone or during the call which indicated the rates. This is a SCAM!
$77 for a call from Jamaica that lasted about 10 minutes.
It was not even a personal call. I had to call Orbitz.com because they told the resort we were checking out 2 days before our flight left!
Trying to reverse it now but mastercard is telling me to call the merchant but giving no number for me to call.
Same situation with me.
Was in Mexico. Made 3 calls back to USA. Came to a total of $150!
There was no prices posted. But they were emergency calls, so I just had to wear the cost.
NOW 2 months later.. They are trying to bill me 3 more times!
VISA should BLOCK ALL AUTHORISATIONS from this company!
Just returned from Costa Rica and had same experience with this long distance company. I spent several days trying to make a phone call from resort and this was the only way...little did I know the rates would be so ridiculous. Billed $39 to leave a voicemail. Filed a dispute with credit card...rates this high should be illegal. Also filed a complaint with FCC. Encourage others to do the same so this company no longer has this monopoly over phone lines at resorts, airports etc.
I had the same bad experience. I made three calls from Jamaica, only 2 of which I actually spoke for less that 5 minutes each and I have 3 separate charges on my Visa totalling $160. However the last charge didn't even show up for 3 weeks after the call was made. Unfortunately I put it on a Visa debit card, so that money is already gone from my checking account. I can't seem to find a conatct number either. I am going to try the better business bureau in the mean time.
I have charges total of $289.52 which ANZ Visa will not enter into dispute for me, how do I get help on getting this back, website for BBG Comminication does not seem to have a contact email or phone address
I have exactly the same experience. I also called my family in Sydney on 3 Aug from Changi Airport, Singapore. I did not buy the phone card thinking that that might be expensive as I might not have used up all the credits in the phone card. So preferred to use my Gold Visa Card. Just checked the account and to my surprise the total bill charged to my account is about A$140. Talk time would have been hardly 15-20 minutes. These telephone companies donot display the calling rate, so you will never be able to know how much they are going to charge. Airport authorities should make it mandatory for the telecom companies to display their calling rates otherwise many more passengers will be ripped off in future like us. Suggest not to use the credit cards on the pay phones at the Airports.
I did exact same at heathrow, came back to sydney and got done 273.11 plus 13.92 for about 2 min of calls/
Absolutely ridiculous
Terrible company!
On April 30, 2008, I made a phone call from from Schipol Airport to Amsterdam. I was charged $15.46 for the phone call. I called the company, BBG Communications, San Diego, CA 92101 to file a complaint about the call. They told me that I needed to have checked the rates first. I told them I don't know how that was possible, as there wasn't any information at, in or around the phone booth indicating that the phone call was going to be made through BBG and/or their rates. I also called my credit card co. to file a dispute, which is in process.
They told me, however, that by putting my card into the phone, I authorized BBG to handle the phone call. I said I had no idea, or information, that when I put my credit card into the phone for a normally $.25 phone call, 10 minutes away, that it was going to be made by a company in San Diego, Ca., 6000 miles away, for $15. I wasn't informed or given any choices to continue or discontinue the transaction.

I have had the same bad luck! While in France we needed to make a quick phone call. No one answered the first call, or the second and I was charged $35 for each! The call that made it through, which less than 10 minutes was $115! Yet again, there was no information about how much the call would cost, I figured at max it would be $2/minute. After reading all the above complaints I'm worried that they will get away with this.
7/17/08 - BBG has now apparently taken to charging for calls that never occurred. Son is in military - traveled through Ireland heading to Iraq in June. Made call home and was charged over $80. Ok - bill paid.
Now, they, one month later have submitted another charge for call from Ireland to US. This is a fraudulent charge as he is not in Ireland and has not used credit card to make any phone calls.
Am filing a complaint with BBG, bank, FBI, and United States Attorney's Office.
I encourage anyone with similar complaints to file complaint forms with feds since this would be their jurisdiction and obviously fraud.
Me 2,
about 300 AU dollars for 3 minutes worth of calls
I rang BBG and they have credited my 129- still not justifiable but as the previous comment stated, you live, you learn
BBG are rip-off merchants, plain and simple.
I got stung twice while in France, two quick phonecalls
Outrageous business practices. My girlfriend and I recently suffered the same fate. We were in Hungary and Germany. We used my credit card from a T-Mobile pay phone in Germany. We left a voicemail for a friend (didn't even speak to them) and I have a charge for $32.20. My girlfriend made 2 calls from Hungary on her card and the charge came to $147 CDN. The call charges were advertised as being, and I quote, "$.45/min to Canada/USA." Unbelievable. She called BBG Communications and they said that we were reading the rate that applies if you feed the pay phone with coins; which then bags the question, how is it a credit card call? The worst part is that it is clearly false advertisement, but I can't exactly fly to Hungary to prove it. Is there no way to begin a class action lawsuit against this company? I'm sick and tired of companies like this taking advantage of people.
This company is absolutely ridiculous. I was in Puerto Viejo, Costa Rica last weekend and attempted to call my boyfriend 4 times from a payphone. There was no information about how much I would be charged, but I figured I could handle $2 a minute because it was important to tell him I was okay. I received a bill for $180, and I never once spoke to him. I placed 4 calls, totaling maybe 1 minute, and was charged almost $200.
They got us too
My wife and I just returned from a trip to the Dominican Republic. While in the D.R. we called our home in middle Tennessee to check on our son. We used a credit card when making the call from our hotel room. No rates were present on the phone and no price info was ever given, before, during or after the call. The next day, I was contacted by my credit card company as they were verifying some out of country charges. Two charges were from BBG totalling over $70.00. I never even heard of BBG until the credit card company called!

i was using telephone in london airport.
i was just heard ringing sound few seconds.(less then 1 minute).
it bbg-luxemberg charged 38dollor!
so i emailed the surviece team.
the reply was"
BBG you would need to contact them directly please call [protected] "
but the phone number did not answer
I was recently in Rome, Italy and left my cell phone at my hotel when I left for the airport. When I arrived at the airport I used one of the credit card pay phones to call the hotel and ask if my phone was there. I had to make this call twice and I'm now seeing six different charges pending on my credit card from BBG for a total of $190.24! I have called BBG Communications and the first thing they asked me for is my credit card number so they can look up the charges. Obviously, I wasn't comfortable handing them my card number in fear of them charging even MORE to my account! They said I can call my bank and do a three-way call w/ my bank on the line to BBG to discuss the charges so I'll have to wait on that. Because the charges are all pending, there's nothing I or my bank can do until they actually post. Here's hoping they NEVER post... yeah, good luck with that, right?! THIS COMPANY IS EVIL! How can anyone screw people over this bad?!?!? They need to be ruined!
My husband called me from Paris to let me know he made it safely. We talked for less than a minute. Our debit card was charged 3 times for $49.10 each. He stated that he tried calling 2 other times before that, but there was no connection. I don't even have voice mail activated on my cell. I will be disputing these charges.
BBG Communications are an absolute disgrace. Trapped within departures at Marseilles airport, France I made a 2 minute phone call to a UK landline with my credit card from the one and only payphone (my mobile was broken at the time) to advise the person collecting me from my destination airport of my flight delay, due to the French Air traffic Controllers going on strike.
My credit card company have called me to advise I have 3 seperate charges totalling £60 from BBG Communications and they were concerened that they're fraudulent... too right they are, its an outrage that they can charge these ridiculous amounts and why 3 seperate amounts ? I will be disputing the charges but please beware.. they DO NOT DISPLAY charges and you will be ripped off if you use them... my advice to you is stay well clear.. better to ask someone if you can make a quick call on their mobile and give them some money for it.
Calling from Marriott London Heathrow. They use this 3rd party vendor to allow credit card charges.
charges show up on bank statement from VAL FEE (validation fee) then later as enormous fee for unperformed connection of service in amount of UDS $50.25. I understand they will keep charging later even when disputed.
Spent 5 mins max taling to my husband (singapore to Australia) as my Australian phone company SOUL had cut off my mobile phone at $300 after asking me for a $500 deposit before I went overseas. So, I had to use a credit card in a phone booth at Singapore Airport. NO phone charge fee structure was visible or available. $46 for this! Will be deducting this amount from my local telco for the inconvenience.
I recently traveled to Canada from Texas and my story is exactly the same as everybody else's here. I very briefly used the payphone at the airport in Toronto to call home and tell my parents that my flight was delayed. Most people said that there wasn't any price on the phone but honestly I don't remember. I made a call for a max of 2-3 mins, just long enough to relay the info about my flight and when I got home I already had a pending charge for 49.95. This is absurd.
I have called my bank but they cant do anything until the charges go thru and needless to say when I called bbg they cant see any charges yet because it has only been 4 days and I was instructed to wait for one week for charges to post in their system. Why do I feel that this is all a dead end. I am very interested in a class action lawsuit. These people need to be stopped. They are stealing. There is nothing on the phone telling you who is connecting your call so my advice is to use your cell phone or go and find change which is what I was too lazy to do and I am paying the price.
While travelling to United States via Frankfurt Germany I used BBG telephone to call to India. I used by credit cards for making the calls. Later I found out that for each of those calls (lasting less than one minute) I was charged $52.1 and $47. This is certainly outrageous and painful that the international airports can harbor scammed telephone companies like BBG
I have already raised dispute complaints with my credit cards to refuse payment to this company.
These guys also have the habit of asking the credit card number, expiry date and CVV number which I feel is completely unsecure and useless. This certainly tells how much the company values the security of the customer's credit card information.
I made 3 credit card calls from the Caymans while on a business trip and was charged more than $300.00. I work in the tourism business and do not see how this company can have the necessary local license to operate while charging the fraudulent rates. There must be a local making a tremendous amount of money with this business. I was charged than $5.00 a minute from a Blue box looking phone.
I tried using a pay phone at the Denver Airport to make a call to Omaha Nebraska when the call would not connect using quarters I used my card thinking it would be the same amount as what was asked from cash. I was never informed of the charges nor did I say I accepted them. That one minute call cost me $20 dollars. When I called the company to tell them I was not informed how much the call would cost I was told it was my fault because I did not ask. This is a complete scam. They deliberatly keep this information from the consumer because they know no one would finish the call. I will be disputing these charges when they go through.
