Borderlinx custom and taxes

After being recommended by the Citibank website for being a globeshopper, I registered to use Borderlinx. Lookin at their questions and answer, if I purchase items in US and send to KLIA, Malaysia with the value of the items less than MYR500, I not liable for custom's duty and taxes. This is the exemption amount under the free on board rule(ie the cost of good without international freight).
So I purchase some wine openers from winestuff and ask them to sent to Borderlinx because winstuff does not sent overseas. The amount purchased was US148.85 converted equivalent to MYR464.50
When I tried to ship the items at Borderlinx to Malaysia, they charge me US47.30 for duty and US23.65 for taxes while shipping fee was US35.40 plus US4.96 for fuel surchage. I have written to them countless time and only got 1 reply that they calculate thru CIF method (cost + International Freight). I wrote to tell them at their website it is written Free on board. Till today no reply. As the 30 day free storage period is due, I got no choice but to pay as demanded. I received the items and found out there is no duty or tax receipt enclosed. So I wrote an email to Malaysia Customs with DHL tracking particulars printed with date and time and place of entry. They checked reply back that no duty or taxes were paid on the shipment. I also phone DHL and they clarify that the items shipped were not tax at all. Why should Borderlinx charge me US70.95 for duty and taxes which was not required in the first place and if do required why are they not remmiting it to the Customs in Malaysia? I wrote to borderlinx for a refund and so far no reply yet. I am writting this complain because Borderlinx has bad customer service and now fraud and cheating customer of duty and taxes or cheating the country of import by not paying duty and taxes collected.
I think Customs Malaysia should look into the matter and also the Ohio board as this is bad for online business.

I've been using viabox for sometime found it to be the best cargo service as it has lowest shipping rates with excellent rapid service and best customer care. It has no hidden charges, no processing fees, free signup.

Borderlinx invoiced me for 6kg, where my package as confirmed by Amazon weigh not more then 1kg. They hold up my package for 6 days now, never respond to any of my emails, only auto-reply, never update their invoice so I could pay & get my stuff ship. This is so scary. 

I paid for 1 day priority shipping with Amazon cause I wanted those merchandise urgently, is it meant to be birthday gifts. First they missed updating an item on the system, which hold up 3 days for them to finally find that item, then they miscalculate the weight of my package. I'm lost, seriously what can I do now if they refused to response or do anything? I called up Citibank, spoken to someone & told them about this, she offered to send them an email, hopefully I hear from them soon.

I learned about Borderlinx from Citibank SMS & I'm so happy thought I've found an alternative to Vpost. This is another nightmare. All these shopping online is mental tortured.

That's horrible! I've heard stories about them before. There's a government agency in the US that you should report them to called the Better Business Bureau. www.bbb.org. I've been using myus for years and never had any problems. They've received the highest rating by that agency so you shouldn't experience any problems like that again.

Borderlinx I ordered shipment of a baby stroller through borderlinx and they sent me empty bottles instead

I ordered shipment of a baby stroller through Borderlinx and they sent me empty bottles instead. I have been trying to follow up with them to trace my package but to no avail. Their executive now tells me I should just file for insurance, which will cover only a part of the total cost. This is extremely nonchalant of them and a very disappointing service. I have lost a package of USD600 and they will be able to recover only a part of it.

Same thing happened to me! You should email to the customer manager, Katerina Mousia . However, I still do not get my refund after waiting for 2 months. Now, I decide to send a mail to her for every 3 days!

Borderlinx excessive charges

Borderlinx is the most bogus service ever. You fall for the advertising and then you shop for products. The problem comes afterwards when you have to ship it to your address. They take volumetric weight and have an amazing formula for even a piece of cloth of t shirt. L*B*H*65 etc. What comes out of the same is that a top or t shirt is weighed in at 6.5 kg and thus a 40$ shirt will cost you 150$ to ship. Why was this never told. On top of that if you dont ship it for 30 days 5$ for each day and then after another 30 days they will auction the item or sell it without consent. This is a trap that they are running

Saya rasa Viabox lebih baik. saya suka menggunakan Viabox. selain harganya lebih murah, pelayanannya juga bagus. saya juga bisa meminta dikirmkan gambar paket tanpa dikenakan biaya sedikitpun. dan yang terpenting 100% bebas biaya pendaftaran, bebas biaya pemrosesan, dan tidak ada biaya lain yang tersembunyi.

Borderlinx is confirmed to be a scam. I ordered several items and to my horror they charge shipping for each item individually instead of as a single consolidated package. Comgateway charge for everything one time. Now my shipping cost is ten times as much. So next, I asked for a return and they say i need to pay them $35 just for UPS to pick up from borderlinx. I was like what?!
Nevermind, I paid up and then they proceeded to block me from contacting them using customer service. Payment made, items at their location suddenly lost and returns not made...
Can someone tell me Borderlinx is not a scam...

I had similar experience, items were sent to Borderlinx from vendor via FedEX and weight showed 2.2kg but BL charged me for 5.67 kg. I checked both FedEx ad BL's formulae for voumetric weight calculation, they are exactly the same! And their Live Chat staff is horrendous - either they asked me to dump my stuff to save shipping cost or use uppercase during chats! I won't use them again!

Same thing happened to me. I bought jeans and a shirt from and they're just worth less than $20 but the shipping costs $67! The items are with them and I dont plan to ship them anymore. Do u guys think, I've made the right decision not to ship them anymore? Thanks! -Waldorf24

Totally agree, I bought a dvd Valued $6.99 and am expected to pay $34 for shipping to Australia. WTF. I'm expecting another delivery, so will combine them. Will I be charged double or is it a one off payment? I wish I'd read these reviews before I went ahead with this. The most galling things are my bank suggested this to me (and other customers) by linking their AMEX to Borderlinx, so I thought I'd trust them. Silly me, we all know not to trust them. Also, today I checked out Amazon, where I bought my dvd and PS3 game and saw they have international shipping, as low as $4.99 and maximum about $12.99. Bah!

Borderlinx uses fine print to double charges

Borderlinx provides a great online shopping forwarding service, except for one major issue, their charges. While they advertise that their reasonable charges by weight, in reality almost every single packages will be charged by volumetric weight which means by the size of the box. This will result in the package size -therefore the price- to double. While this is legal and not really fraud but using fine print to double gains in such a manor is very unprofessional.

The use of volumetric weight in itself may not be fraud but the manner in which it is applied by Borderlinx can be. I had a pair of shoes taken out of the box in which they were sent by the retailer and put by Borderlinx in a plastic satchel that was much larger than needed. They then charged for the volumetric weight of the satchel which was far greater than the original package would have been. Like many others have reported, Borderlinx simply ignores enquiries and requests for explanations. I would never use them again.

Borderlinx band customer service (borderlinx)

Borderlinx service is bad.. My camera lens has been delivered to their Facility but they couldn't find it. From Amazon tracking it shows it has been delivered by UPS.. It's been 10 days since I logged the case in Borderlinx but until now they said Management is looking in to this issue...it's basically the same answer every time (daily) I contact their customer service... really bad customer service..

The other 2 items that I ordered in Amazon arrived in their Facility on Jan 21 (ordered at the same time I ordered the lens - Jan 17)

Borderlinx borderlinx service is unbelievably bad

Don't ever use borderlinx - customer service will make you die early from frustration! I updated my new shipping address on their website under 'my account' and saved it, however the website did not capture that information and reverted to my old shipping address. When I discovered my packages were on their way to my old address, I immediately went online to rectify the problem with the helpline operator. The operator who served me was 'oliver'. He basically told me to call the local dhl office to sort the matter of re-delivery myself. He refused to see that the problem was one of borderlinx and that borderlinx had the responsibility of rectifying it. Furthermore he did not provide a local dhl office number to me so I was expected to go through the inconvenience & rigmarole of getting my parcels delivered to the right address. I wasn't happy & tried my best to reason with oliver but no, the indian held sway. The second request I made was a simpler one, for them to help me update my new shipping address since I tried a few times and the website simply didn't work. Oliver took down my particulars and said that he would forward it to the relevant dept. Fine, but I asked him to check back with that dept to ensure that it was updated. After being evasive and lots of excuses later, he assured me that my address update would be done and that I would get an e-mail from the relevant dept. Subsequently I did get an e-mail from that relevant dept - informing me that I had to sort out the re-directing of my parcels myself with the local dhl office - duh don't I already know that from oliver?! What about my address update they were supposed to settle? Well I logged in to check if it had been updated, but no, they managed to so completely incompetent. They couldn't even get somehing simple right which is to update my new shipping address, despite the assurance given by oliver, no doubt to try and fob me off. So what to do? I'm not using them in million years and I want others to know the ugly side of borderlinx so buyer beware! Btw, they are very expensive too.

Fully agree. This is the perfect SCAM and don't ever trust Borderlinx or others. Go with Amazon or VPOST (not too good but atleast there is something called 'service'). For Borderlinx they could overcharge you or just don't deliver. Worst part is there is no such thing as "CUSTOMER SERVICE" for them.

I totally agree, Borderlinx customer service is one of the worst I've personally experienced. On the surface they immediately acknowledge receipt of queries by issuing a "ticket number" but that's an automatic non-human software response. And you wait and wait and ... You get frustrated and write again by replying to the earlier ticket. A minute later the same auto acknowledgement email goes into your mailbox. When they finally respond, nothing is ever positive, nothing is ever given due consideration and the answers are always SOP (standard operation procedure) type, always "not possible" type of output. Sometimes the persons at CS department insert their name, sometimes not. Nevertheless the answer I receive always make me wonder if that is a auto program response or a real flesh and blood human response ... Till now I still feel it was the former. They are totally devoid of human reasoning and hence do not have human yearning to do good, to help and much less, to resolve your problem.

Borderlinx long time to deliver + wrong value

Site looks professional and a handy cost calculator. So you think everything is good!. Have made a account with borderlinx. Ship my products (More packages from 1 shop) to borderline. Trough the tracking from my retailer I saw the package's where arrived by borderline in ohio. Just 2 days later all the package's where complete. But... The value of the package's where far to high. Trough email and chat I mail the origional invoice to change the value (For taxes an custom border rates). Onother 1 or 2 days later it's changed. I made a payment by credit card. I though now it come's... No! It's now more than 9 days later and still the package's are in depot of borderline. They can't say why the delay and when it will be send. Perhaps over 4 days. I ask why again wait for 4 days... The answer "we took us the best whe can to send". Does it take 4 more days?
No for me no more borderline. Thanks for nothing. I hope I get the package's some time... Still waiting! Perhaps over 2 weeks? I don't know. (Cost me a lot of money and stress)

Bordlinx says they help people buy things internationally. HOWEVER, many of their online "preferred brands" do not take international credit cards. In addition, you get no notification that your order has a problem, it's just cancelled with no warning. Borderlinx then comes to you for concierge service, saying they will buy the item...but I've yet to get them to process an order successfully. Bottom line - it is outrageously difficult to get an order through these people...it would actually be easier for me to just call someone in the US and tell them what I want, then electronically transfer the money to them to pay for it. Borderlinx = suck

I just have the same problem ATM. There's a delay, whenever I check the status of the package, it says "being processed" . This is the 4th time i made a chat but everyone of them says different things! There's a customer service but it never helps you! I also sent emails, now they don't reply.isn't there a way to punish those guys ? I won't use their services anymore but there should be something more to do about this.

Borderlinx lousy service

The customer service from borderlinx is really sucks. They never do whatever they promised.

I have a package with non-alcohol perfume inside (which is found out by their specialist), and since one month ago they started to persuade me to wait and do not return the package. Hence I waited and waited and waited and now the deadline of refunding stated in the merchant's website has lapse. I was so angry and asked Borderlinx to return it, and they still wanna charge me admin fee and does not want to be liable if I cannot get the refund.

They always tell me that I will get the update within 24 hours, but in the end no news will come to me. The deadline set by both of me or themselves are useless. They never keep their promise.

I also encountered one case in their concierge service. They forgot to order one item in my list, which will be free recognized by the merchant's system if they did order that.
I contacted them for many times and ask for a reply. But every time they gave me different kinds of funny excuse and does not want to pay for their mistake.

Their customer service will always try to cover the things up and delay...sucks man..

sejauh ini saya tidak pernah ada masalah selama menggunakan Viabox. CS Viabox selalu merespon dengan cepat, mereka akan merespon dalam kurun 1-12 jam. selain harganya murah, barang akan diproses dalam waktu 1 hari. selain itu tidak ada biaya pendaftaran, tidak ada biaya pemrosesan dan tidak ada biaya lain yang tersembunyi. saya suka menggunakan Viabox.

I work with a vendor site for restaurant equipment. We received an order from them for a very expensive item. However the card they gave us came back declined, they had no physical address to send it to and when I tried to call them to resolve these issues, it lead to a Magic Jack number that was disconnected. I have worked with many forwarding companies before, but I am not sure how this one makes any money at all. Just wanted to let you guys know that nearly a year later there is nothing different about this company and its the same treatment for the sellers too. Pick someone else guys.

I am also having problems with Borderlinx. I was shocked at the high cost of shipping to Canada but marked it as a lesson learned. I paid for the shipping of my parcel and received someone elses parcel two weeks ago. I notified Borderlinx right away that I received the wrong parcel. They still have not given me instructions on what to do with the parcel I have received and they have not found my items. It has almost been one week since I heard back from them. Communication and service is horrible. I just want to receive the items I have paid for and then I am done with this company. Do not sign up with Borderlinx!

To shop from the United States, I've been using a free package forwarding service from www.Viaddress.com for a few months now, and I'm quite satisfied with them... I used them to shop on Amazon.com and Ebay.com and it works great!

The registration is free on www.viaddress.com. They provide you with a personal US address that you can use to shop from any US merchant and have Viaddress forward your packages to your country.

If the US merchant does not accept international credit cards, Viaddress can buy the products for you, with no commission fees, and then forward the packages to you. Their prices are very competitive; u can log unto their website to see their price comparison chart.

Would like to add another horror story on the service at borderlinx. In Dec, they blocked one of my items, saying that it contains adult material - it's a Blu-Ray of the movie "Funny People", the comedy starring Adam Sandler... fine... I admit the movie is rated R (Borderlinx will decide what is suitable for u, and apparently, this movie is like pornography...).

3 months later, this item is still listed in my account, but it is blocked... I can't do anything with it. When I shipped another package of items (containing Toy Story 1 & 2 - luckily they did not decide to block these movies also), they accidentally included this blocked item in the list of items to be shipped. But of course, the Funny People blu-ray is nowhere to be found (hmmm... did the person who blocked the item has taken the movie home for their own enjoyment?). Because of this "missing item", the whole shipment is now in limbo for almost a month, while they "investigate".

I have been writing to them every week chasing for an update, and requesting them to just ship the package to me...
all I get are standard replies thanking me for my email and saying they will revert within 24 hours (familiar?), but after that nothing...

BTW... if one of your items is blocked, u're basically screwed, ... u have to ask them to "dispose" of it...if u want them to return to the seller, they will charge u an exorbitant fee - which will not be enough to cover the refund u may get from the seller...

Once, they tried to block another movie "Law Abiding Citizen". I got fed-up and protested, quoting MPAA ratings, IMDB comments and Singapore's Media rating... Only after a few emails, did they decide to ship the movie to me.

While the shipping charges are reasonable, they have terrible service. Same goes to customer service.
2nd time using it and i faced problems with them already.

Tues 30th Mar 2010 -> paid for express shipping for a box of 30 tees.
Tues 30th Mar 2010 -> Tracking number received. Shipping information received by DHL.
Fri 2nd Apr 2010 -> Tracked the shipment and there's no progress. Emailed to inquire.
Fri 2nd Apr 2010 -> Replied "escalated the issue to the concern department so that they can check and update us the reason for the delay of the shipment"
Tues 6th Apr 2010 -> No response from them. Emailed again. Expected some form of compensation.
Wed 7th Apr 2010 -> Replied. "My apologies, we are still awaiting a response from the concern Hub team on your shipment. Please be assured we are chasing it up and will revert once we hear from them. Also I will see if we can reimburse you the balance difference of express and standard shipping"
Wed 7th Apr 2010 -> Emailed them about how unsatisfied i am with their answer and sincerity to reimburse.
Thurs 8th Apr 2010 ->Replied same ### as if it is 1 of their templates. "Unfortunately we are still awaiting a response from the relevant department. However I am in touch with higher management and and have the shipment relased for shipping asap. I will revert as soon as there is a positive developement. My sincere apologies for this unfortunate delays and the troubles it caused. Thank you."

I am writing this early to warn people who is planning to use their services.
this shipment is supposed to be URGENT which is why i used EXPRESS shipping.
this is WORST than using the STANDARD shipping.
and i bet 90% are the chances that they lost my parcel and i swear this is the last time i am going to use borderlinx.

People.
PLEASE stay away from Borderlinx. They charges are sky-high but the service is horrible. They ship me my item on the Jan 07, but the tracking # on their website was not valid. Besides, they ship my valuable item by POST and after 7 days and numerous attempt to get any info or push them to provide me with the tracking # or confirm that my item was shipped I still have no info. Their people are stupid and lazy. They gave my runarounds and I just wasted my time. HORRIBLE COMPANY.

Borderlinx business practices

Border linx advertises that you can get an item shipped and they look after everything including duties. You prepay all these costs. I received a U.S. address to order goods and then Borderlinx ships the goods from the U.S. to Canada. The adress is actually a DHL branch. Borderlinx has an exclusive partnership agreement with DHL. Surprisingly, DHL came to my door and demanded money. I had to pay since my goods were now held for ransom. Borderlinx refuses to refund the full amount of the shipping charges. Basically, I am only claiming what DHL charged me at the door in Canadian funds. Borderlinx is using some arbitrary date and then applying an exchange rate to come to a lesser price, of course. Just pay me what I wasn't supposed to get charged but did by DHL. It doesn't get simpler.

i ordered 2 items from amazon USA, borderlinx over estimated the cost, i sent them the invoices they updated . however the shipping cost wasn't changed yet. it is not logic that the shipping is 1.5 the cost of the items

How I wish that I read these comments before I made use of Borderlinx. I am not even worried about the exorbitant bizarre shipping fees. My problem is that my package has been at Borderlinx since the 1st of February up to today the 06th of March in a "being processed" state. I have tried the live chat, e-mail etc. repeatedly. Their customer services just keeps telling me that they have not received a response from their warehouse. They absolutely never come back to you as promised. They refuse to answer any of my questions other than with that party line. I repeatedly asked for a way to escalate the problem or to claim damage for an item they lost (by the way, try clicking on log a claim on that website, which takes you absolutely nowhere), only to be referred back to their generic customer services e-mail address. A sure sign that nobody is actually willing to do anything about this. Yesterday someone on their chat line finally told me that their warehouse confirmed that the item would be shipped yesterday. Not surprisingly today, it is still "being processed" and to my knowledge nothing has happened. No Service, dubious ethics and exorbitant pricing...

same here the Borderlinx people can push up the weight like no one business...i even had UPS to back me up on the shipping weight which is 4Lbs which is approximately 1.8-2kg...borderlinx conveniently put a 8.5kg tag on my item and shipped it even i have sent an email and talk to their live chat representatives...which they say dun worry they are already looking into it.
if i could i wish i could announce what cheaters and scammers they are... ...and stop everyone from getting service from them.

Same here. I bought a screen protector, not even the glass type from Amazon and paid $5 for shipping. Borderlinx charged me $53 dollars to ship that item and said that the volumentric weight is actually 7.67kg or 16 lbs. Unbelievable.

To shop from the United States, I've been using a free package forwarding service from www.Viaddress.com for a few months now, and I'm quite satisfied with them... I used them to shop on Amazon.com and Ebay.com and it works great!

The registration is free on www.viaddress.com. They provide you with a personal US address that you can use to shop from any US merchant and have Viaddress forward your packages to your country.

If the US merchant does not accept international credit cards, Viaddress can buy the products for you, with no commission fees, and then forward the packages to you. Their prices are very competitive; u can log unto their website to see their price comparison chart.

Borderlinx SUCKS!

dont trust their Cost Calculator and dont even think about using Borderlinx!

I trust what they promote themselves on their website and the calculator; i shipped my items to them at the first place.

They TRIPLED the weight that i have accurately calculated with my seller. so as the charges...more than DOUBLED up!

Then, I tried to use a promotion code that I got by registering to borderlinx. hoping to save me some unreasonable fees. it didn't work and i tried to contact their Live Chat customer service.

The 1st time, their said they will look it to that and give me a reply within 48 hours. of coz, i didn't even get a word from them. so i tried 2nd time to the Live Chat, they are able to check my previous enquiry and said since the "department" didnt reply them and that's why i didnt get a word from them. They promised to get back to me within 24 hours. I said okay. but of course I didnt believe in that kind of promise twice. so i go on to send their customer service an email and request a response to the same issue. The automatic system replied and said i would get some response within 12 hours. = =

At last, i got a reply saying my promotion period has just expired. Just on the day they gave me a reply. oh well...cool...now i still got my items at your storage after more than 10 days of waiting for a reply on enquiry. i could wait anymore since it was some presents for a friend's birthday, so i decided to ship my items no matter how much it is.

I was forced to pay the tax and duty which the "customer service" said it's an advanced payment which the Canadian Custom would charge. They told me they will pay the custom on behalf of me to avoid delay of delivery. A week later, I got a DHL delivery with an "collect on delivery" charge of 300 CAD! now the customer service told me to pay DHL on delivery first and ask DHL for a receipt...send to Borderlinx and they will refund to me the tax and duty which i doubt if I can trust them.

Here is the actual calculation compare to them.

Items worth: 900 CAD
Borderlinx charges(CAD): 39.81 (duty) + 128.96 (tax) + 129.95 (shipping)
DHL charges (CAD): 307.33

Borderlinx is a group of scam artists, they wait until you ship your item to your address with them, then they raise the weight to make more money from the shipping fee !

I ordered a digital camera from B & H and the tracking number from B&H indicated 3 Lbs.

BORDERLINX CHARGED ME SHIPPING FEES FOR 8 LBS !

After several complain emails, they said that they had to repackage and add "Bubble wrap" protection to my package, which is total BS... because my camera came in a bubble warped envelope.

Borderlinx sucks big time ! NEVER EVER AGAIN !
