Sending money/ train horn negligence
Said required, but could change if concerned. But juxtaposition to trends, e;g;, $654 Million on Federal Lobbying, (...recipients of BNSF Railway PAC cash during the 2022 campaign were Rep. Kelly Armstrong (R-N.D.) and House Minority Leader Hakeem Jeffries (D-N.Y.)
Requirement running train horns (juxtaposition to Freight layoffs, explosive derailment/safety vs. Wall st. bonuses? doesn't support sentiment. Any correlation to federal recipients of BNSF Railway industry's $60.3 million in lobbying spending in 20 states since 2022 to "requirements"?). Latest freight railroad layoffs and Wall Street pressure renew concerns about safety and service.
Warren Buffett's Berkshire Hathaway certainly amend if wanted. (But "people health"? Two BNSF employees sustained life-changing spinal injuries when their train crashed into a 6-ton tree that had fallen on the tracks. Horns blaring didn't stop real cause).
Claimed loss: Stress, reports on sleep loss support health concerns (Can't squeeze tax payers if dying. Need to give some break to your "bloodbanks.")
Desired outcome: Social consciousness. (or quiet zones).

Yet with $654 Million on Federal Lobbying, (...recipients of BNSF Railway PAC cash during the 2022 campaign were Rep. Kelly Armstrong (R-N.D.) and House Minority Leader Hakeem Jeffries (D-N.Y.), BNSF Railway industry's $60.3 million in lobbying spending in 20 states since 2022 , freight employees injured citing savings to pay Wall st. bonuses, Warren Buffett's Berkshire Hathaway lobbing... hard to buy "required". Yeah BS.
Train horns, of course!
I know this won't do anything. But Longview, Wa.
Train horn saturation/abuse. Low level, mill worker, HUD, HEN Section 8 whatever, 20 somethings being superseded by IQ professional group moving into area.
Hear thing like group action, health issues, fatigue (so much for paying taxes which impacts your government subsidies).
With abusive, inconsistent train engineers blowing, which does nothing anyway studies show. But so can get your money.
Claimed loss: Health
Desired outcome: Why bother!

Freight train horn
1/17/2024. 12:30 pm Engine 8275 came through Downtown Sacramento blowing his horn all the way into town from the South side. Stopped honking around T street. This has been going on consistently for the past two weeks or so. A stack train came through about 25 minutes prior with NO HORN. If it's not necessary for the Stack train why is necessary for the Bulk train?

Abuse
Horn abusing of sound; excessive abuse of horn. Another... 6:am, 11/07/2023, Troutdale, Or.
Blew so excessive there was sound damaged, dBs would echo through narrow corridor (narrow because of houses! Don't care. engineer continued. Share/charge revenue with Canadian lines as well. Fed subsidized, so tax money, so... we do have a case.
Desired outcome: Stop abuse (untested "law" is sited. Not the case (why cities patition then? Why are overpasses built then? Okay, but in overpass if want to continue abusive habits (noticed horn use on overpasses as well!))
You employees driving not paying attention to the traffic and not stopping to check for oncoming traffic
This morning one of your big trucks pulled right in front of me without even stopping and I was less than 10 feet away from them when they did it I have the license plate number. YASD334. This happened at the shops in West Burlington Iowa. This happened at 710 on august 23 2023. If i wasn’t paying attention he probably would have just hit me and then we’d be talking about a law suit instead of a complaint
Desired outcome: Teacher drivers how to drive or discipline them for driving reckless
Horn/quiet zone violations
Horn blowing in quiet zone Edmond OK
at 9:30 am CST at the intersection of Broadway and Coffee Creek the engine blew the horn continuously for several minutes. He should be fined accordingly as he is not operating within the parameters. I know BNSF has “black boxes” or whatever they may call them and can see what the train was doing at anytime so I am requesting you look at this reckless and disregard for people. There are elderly people and many others that this unacceptable behavior is affecting
Desired outcome: Impose the 5000k fine on the engine operator
Unwarranted horn use
On 27 May 2023 at about 1210 pm, near Moab Junction, WA 99025 a westbound train sounded its horn 4 times, all short bursts. I have a clear view of the tracks, and there was no reason (within BNSF regulations) to sound the horn. The crossing at Moab is an overpass, so there are no gate crossings. This has been happening in bunches for over a decade. It seems that when i complain, it stops for a few months but starts up again.
Desired outcome: PLEASE stop the unwarranted horn use.
Locomotive idling
May15, 2023. I live near Ballantine, Montana. I have lived here for 26 years. Throughout the winter and now into May, locomotives have changed their schedule and instead of moving through the area on a regular basis, they are stationary and idling for days, creating extremely aggravating low frequency noise and vibration that travels great distances. These vibrating, pulsing, rumbling, low frequency sounds are invasive and inescapable. The rumbling can be felt inside and out, and right through my body as I try to sleep at night. It woke myself and my dogs up last night and on many occasions, making it impossible to sleep. It is wildly aggravating. This has been going on all winter and now into the spring and after reading about it it is a new program designed to maximize profits by stacking more cars per locomotive. This involves using sidings and letting locomotives sit for days and even weeks while other trains come in and their cars added. This saves the railroads a tremendous amount of money but has caused great consternation in hundreds and hundreds of communities across the country who have to put up with this low frequency idling of the locomotives. This is a terrible waste of diesel fuel as well as a unnecessary source of air pollution. This is a criminal disturbance of the peace on a community level and can cause serious health problems, loss of property value, and disruption of every day life and nighttime sleep. I have called and complained but of course was just given lip service. This problem is Magnified by the gravel soils in our area and shallow water table which transmits the low frequency noise extremely easy.
BNSF has got to change this new system and go back to the old way. I will be talking to my representatives today. This just can’t stand because it is maddening and unsustainable, and ruins the quality of life of my community and many others. I both feel and hear the rumbling in my body while I type this complaints. There is no escape!
Desired outcome: Eliminate locomotive engine idling. Shut them down while not in use!
Idling train noise
The train #7601 has been idling behind our home since approximately 4 pm yesterday afternoon 2/2/2023. Today is 2/3/2023.. It is still there.. idling. The noise was so intense that I telephoned at 9:15 pm and again at 3:27 am. We have not gotten a lot of sleep, because of the up and down loud jack hammering sound that the idling train engine is making. All that we ask is that the engineer move the train forward about a hundred feet or so, so that the engine is basically parked behind our storage building, and 2 other storage buildings of our neighbors. These building help to block out the intensity of the sounds and serve as a noise barrier during times that the engineer has to be parked for extended periods of time. It would be a win win situation for all of us if they can park behind these buildings.
Desired outcome: Just to have a peaceful nights rest.
2/4/2023 THANK YOU! Train in same place last night...engine running...but so peacefully! That is just the right formula! Grateful in Haslet!
Abuse of train horn
There is an abuse of the train horn useage at inappropriate hours. 2:30 a. m. And the passing train not only blasts the horn at full power, but leaves it blasting for extended lengths each time it is used. I know there is a method of using the horn that results in a soft, pipe organ like sound that is much more appropriate for those late night and early morning hours. This is occuring in Burlington, Wa. at the 3 track junction on Greenleaf Avenue. Please put a stop to this abuse.
Desired outcome: Discontinued abuse of full powered lengthy horn blasts at inappropriate hours.
San Diego railroad crossing at Sassafrass
On September 6, 2022 I had a flight from San Diego Lindbergh Field to SeaTac at approximately 8:30PM. At 6:45PM I arrived via I8 awaiting traffic to turn right onto Sassafrass, which is about.2 of a mile from the Rental Car Center, where I was headed. I should have had ample time to return my vehicle and have some dinner before my flight. I was unable to turn right onto Sassafrass, along with dozens of other vehicles, because the red lights flashed continuously at the crossing and the barriers were down and never lifted.
As I waited, eventually many vehicles pulled out of the lineup and headed towards downtown, while dozens of vehicles waited with the belief that the barriers would eventually lift. But they didn't.
After about 1 1/4 hours, a few vehicles pulled into the lane of oncoming traffic and illegally made the crossing. I followed, but not in time to make my flight.
Had the rental car agency told me that this is a standard practice, I would have asked for an alternate route to take, but nothing was said. Apparently none of us thought of calling 911 either. I know that was an afterthought for me.
Because of your practice of closing the street for hours at a time, I not only missed my flight, I had to purchase another ticket, pay an additional $28 for another day of parking in Seattle, and I had to spend the entire night in the airport with no water or food and a horrible seat, to take a morning flight out. A difficult trip to begin with thus became a nightmare and resulted in my being up from 2AM on September 6 to 11AM on September 7.
How can you even think about blocking the main road to an international airport for hours on end?
Desired outcome: An apology would be nice. A 1-way plane ticket between Seattle and San Diego would be nice since that is what I had to buy. And perhaps a plan to not close the main entryway into an international airport would be another helpful plan.
Train horn
Train horn is sounding at Moab Junction (Starr Road and Trent Avenue), Newman Lake WA 99025. Two tracks run parallel to Trent Ave and cross Starr Rd as an overpass (tracks are elevated). Horn has sounded at various times, including after midnight / early morning. I can see the tracks from my back yard, and I have never seen an animal nor a person on them. The next time it happens, I can report the train number as well as time and direction. This has been happening for at least 7 years and I have filed numerous complaints to no avail. Please investigate and resolve, thanks.
Desired outcome: End of unnecessary horn sounding.
Parking outside my home leaving the engine running for hours/days
9/17/22 7:57am another train parked outside leaving the engine running. It is now 3:54pm and it is still sitting there. They will probably leave it there for day's. It is noise pollution! It has to stop! The railroad needs to find places for their driver's to park so they can take time off. Or at least have someone ready to relieve them. No one should have to listen to this kind of noise in their own home. If I made this kind of noise outside of their home they would call the police!
Desired outcome: Stop BNSF Railway from parking near people's homes!!!
Railway parking outside my home leaving the engine running for hours/days!!
9/12/23 5:38am yet another train parked just a few feet away from my home leaving the engine running! This has to stop! NOW!
Long-term exposure to noise can cause a variety of health effects including annoyance, sleep disturbance, negative effects on the cardiovascular and metabolic system, as well as cognitive impairment in children. Looking at the current data, we estimate that environmental noise contributes to 48,000 new cases of ischaemic heart disease a year as well as 12,000 premature deaths. In addition, we estimate that 22 million people suffer chronic high annoyance and 6.5 million people suffer chronic high sleep disturbance. As a result of aircraft noise we estimate that 12,500 school children suffer reading impairment in school.
Many people don’t realise noise pollution is an important problem, impacting human health, including theirs. Of course, there are many more premature deaths associated with air pollution than for noise. However, noise seems to have a larger impact on indicators related to quality of life and mental health. In fact, according to some World Health Organization (WHO) findings, noise is the second largest environmental cause of health problems, just after the impact of air pollution (particulate matter).

Desired outcome: Stop this now!!!
Once again a loud train has been parked outside with the engine running constantly! This has to stop! The people you are disturbing are the same people who order products, make the products you transport to be sold. Without them you would not have a job. It is also people who work in healthcare and need to be rested. Do you want those people helping you when you need it the most? There are noise ordinances and the railroad ignores them! It isn't right and needs to stop now! Whatever your employees need to do to take time off should not affect people in their homes! This is their time to relax and get ready to go to their jobs! If someone made that much noise outside your home you would call the police! Stop this now! Enough already!

Stop letting your driver's park outside of people's homes leaving the engine running for hours/day's! It is too loud! No one should have to put up with this! Find places for them to park that doesn't disrupt a whole neighborhood! Whatever they have to do for their job is nobody's problem but theirs! This has to stop and I won't stop until it does!

County road 189 west of fargo ok always blocked
The crossing on county road 189 is constantly blocked West of Fargo Oklahoma. I can't enjoy a nice evening or morning because of the constant ringing of the crossing bells always ringing. There is only 3 crossings that give us access to Fargo causing me to be concerned that emergency vehicles can not get to us because sometimes all crossings are blocked for a lengthy time. There is times that the same train may have the crossing blocked for weeks. I've lived here my whole life ( I'm 61 years old now) this problem has just happened within the last year.
Railway parking near my home
Again there is another train parked just a few feet away from my home. After working a 12 hour shift and I need to sleep all I can hear is this train sitting idle outside. It is so loud it even vibrates the whole house. This has to stop! There has to be other places your driver's can stop to take their breaks. That is their job and it should not effect anyone in their home trying to rest and find peace in their own home. While your driver's go somewhere quiet.

Desired outcome: Stop parking near people's homes!!!!
Railway parking outside my home
Stop BNSF RAILWAY from parking near people's houses leaving the engine running for hours/days! It is noise pollution! No one should have to listen to this in their own home! I don't care what they have to do. It is their job. I am trying to find peace on my days off from working 12 hour shifts taking care of a disabled person. I need to be rested and alert in case the have a seizure or just need help.

Yet another train parked outside since Saturday night.

Stop BNSF Railway noise pollution!
Now there are 3 trains outside! There is no excuse good enough for your driver's to park so close to people's homes! This has been happening for years! My neighbor has heart problems and this stresses him out too much. This is noise pollution and it has to stop!
Un attended engines idling for DAYS
I live in Bow Wa . BNSF parks your trains in front of my house and has your engineer shift changes .BNSF leaves the train engines running for 4-5 days at a time every weekend .
I can’t get any rest … I have to listening to these engines running releasing air… and smoking diesel fumes..
The rail road tracks are very close to my home .
I understand that the engineers need a break but can the engines be shut down ?
Thank you
Colette S.
Desired outcome: Shut engines down
Noise
3 BNSF engines have been sitting idle for 4 days, 3 nights, with cars attached and their engines running continuously. Their numbers are: 5292, 5305, and 8110. I cannot sleep at night because of the noise they make. Sounds like a compressor ramping up to keep the temperature at a certain level. Not too bad durning the day, but at night without the normal other ambient noises, it’s excessive. They are sitting 587 feet behind my house. I live at 114 Manana Drive, Grand Prairie Texas [protected]. The trains are stationary between Gilbert and Irby in Irving Texas with the engines heading West. Why are they parked here in the first place. Why not park them in a train yard or a stretch of track where there are businesses or no nearby homes? This is not the first time this has happened, but never for such an extended period of time. It is becoming more and more frequent. What is the explanation for this and why does it continue to happen? Please have the engines moved to another location and in the future find a more isolated track for them to park for days on end. Please respond to this email to let me know what steps you can take to resolve this problem for me and my neighbors.
Thank you,
Don Pogue
[protected] cell.
Desired outcome: Prevent this from reoccurring in the future. Engines parked idling behind my home for days making noises that prevent me and my neighbors from sleeping at night.
I am a resident of Haslet Tx and I definitely understand the importance of BNSF and the services they provide. I would love for the engineers to understand that when they sit for HOURS in an open area with the train engine idling that it really is a nuisance. All that we ask is that you move the train up behind the storage building located at the back of our property. The building serves as a barrier between the noise and our bedroom the vibrations are also decreased significantly. Just work with us……PLEASE!
unattended train left running inside neighborhood
trains are left running for up to 30 hours within a residential area .. There are many sidings with in a couple of miles that a train can be parked away from humans so we don't have to breath there exhaust for days. Humans live next to the right away.
Desired outcome: park trains outside of area
