A year ago last May my husband and I purchased a Forest River travel trailer at Camping World. We went to pick it up and it had a scratch half the length of the trailer. There were also many other things wrong (this trailer was nowhere near ready to deliver). We were told that they could not take care of anything for a while and we needed to take it home because they did not have the space. We were also warned that if we left the trailer there, it would be off the property and when asked, they warned us they were not responsible for any damage. We took the trailer home (which we shouldn't have taken possession of) and there were forty six items at that time that needed repair. Some of these things happened because the trailer was not secured for travel. Subsequently, we should have gone through it with a fine tooth comb. Who would have thought that you pay 78,000.00 dollars for a substandard major purchase. We have used it three times due to waiting for repairs, Only one of the times the trailer was functional. The problems were major plumbing issues.
I wish you had enough time to listen to the barriers, the excuses, and that we have been given many excuses about workmanship and support about our travel trailer. There has been a lack of accountability, substandard workmanship, never returning calls, having to use aliases to get through to anyone. The management put the service department in charge. The delays were due to all of the natural disasters in the world. There was a great deal of expense for us including losing time at work and the gas. Our awning was torn off at the store, there was a warranty included in the sale which was a conflict and used immediately on damages. I am sure all of their damages were claimed. This includes a second table that was cracked. Our kitchen faucet exploded when we were out of town. The management told us to fix it and they would reimburse us for the parts. The management should have been overseeing the situation. We did get a hold of the gentleman that did our financing. He apologized and was going to try and look into it. When we called, he had resigned. A conflict of interest adding 10,000 dollars of warranties that we didn't know about until signing. This was owned by a subsidiary of Camping World. We now know these are worthless because of the lack of accoutability and ability to timely get standard repairs done. This includes the three repairs we incurred while fixing the one existing situation. We haven't been able to use the trailer, therefore the only warranty work has been while the trailer has been parked. Not to mention this digs into our warranty value.
At this point we have paid a lot for a trailer that is now used. The tires have been rotting, the trailer has been sun drenched from sitting uncovered near the lot. There was never anything Camping World "could do". The complaints went to the CEO. There were young girls that took information. Occasionally they would call back, but this was the end of the line because they go to the CEO/owner and into the garbage can. A bad investment and no customer service.
My concerns are going to the brand name. The management admitted they would not steal or treat their family like this so someone needs to pay attention. I had an order some years ago from the catalog and wrote stating that we received the wrong things. They needed time. Several years have gone by. I was hoping this was not the business model.
I have made a big down payment, and paid 500.00 a month, when Camping World had possession of my trailer or it was non functioning for more than the first year. There were also many people relying on us for travel arrangements for two summer's.
The commercial on television states all you can have for 5.00 a month. I have received nothing for almost 500.00 a month.
Desired outcome: We want restitution for our losses to include assisting in repairs and payments made.
