Explanation about the offer,
Recently I've visited Cargills food city Jaffna branch near clock tower road in front of Jaffna general hospital and I've got an offer message from Cargills I was trying to ask the manager lady who is in-charge for the store but she doesn't respond properly and the customer service assistant boy doesn't know about the offer and confused and made me by the wrong product at the end I bought those products almost same price and lost my money all I want is some respect or at least respond to your customers in a proper way, Even though it's urgent that manager lady on the phone for long time during the office hours plz kindly take action to make sure your customers won't face these inconvenience in future.
Customer service
During my last three visit to the Kegalle Food City Branch, I asked to have a Customer Loyalty arragement. But the cashiers did not coporated over my request. At the frist time they said "We do not have such kind of arragement". Secound time said that "Loyalty Card Stock is finished" and the third time said "We do not have time now. Come in another day".
I did not expect such an embarrassing respond from an organization like Cargills. Also you need to understand that the only option we have is not Cargills. We have Keels, Arpico, Sathosa, Athukorala, Waligama etc. Keels also have the same fresh, quality product at a reasonable price also. Also their customer service also up to standard and very professional...
Desired outcome: I do not mind what ever the action take. Anyway I'll share this embarrassing story with my friends and social media account also.
Expired items on shelf, discounts that are marked on shelf is not available in bill
This happened in Cargills Food City, Ward Place, Colombo 7, Sri Lanka.
Case 1:
Most of the Egg Cartons that was available on shelf were expired 3 days ago. (Expiring 23rd December, and today was 26th). Unless checked, this would have been a grave mistake for a customer which can cause food poisoning. Pictures attached. When informed, the staff admitted and proceeded to remove some of them.
Case 2.
I had encountered multiple times that the discounts marked on the shelf is not present in the final bill.
This happened previously for for Amiron Chicken and MyChoise Air Freshner.
Today on the Shelf it was announced Rs.90/- discount for Milca processed Cheese Wedges (maximum 3 units and for Rs.15000/- and above bills) but in the final bill it was not available. Discount was for a lesser amount. When inquired, they spent a lot of time and finally had to reduce the price as a cash amount.
If the customer has not been aware and not asked for it, this would have gone unnoticed.
This is GROSS NEGLIGENCE and MISINTERPRETATION!

Service of staff working at outlet
In cargills food city of pettah (in cargills building) staff are not concern about the customer care
When customers are in queue waiting they are on their talks. I face this situation trice which made me ask them can you bill please.
Then if we fo in morning. No one in pastry sections to give us foods and not keeping cash which make us delay on going to office
Another incident when we went today to get some goods the cashier their asking pin number of debit card. I m wondering if your cashiers are this much knowledgeable. Then when we told you dont need a pin number she is arguing she work their 8 years and all.
I don't know why this kind of staff works in one of main outlets of cargills food city.
Hope you guys can short this staff attitudes

One pineapple was purchased today but same item was billed twice.

Card payment deducted charged for two times
24 Nov 2020 about 9.42 P.M. I paid My Rs. 1,242.00 Payment for my purchases.
1st time when cashier has swiped the card at POS machine and bill has not come out.
I allowed again to swipe for the payment slip and slip also received.
I received Rs. 1242+ 1242= 2484 payment deduction sms from the bank after short while. I complain to the manager about this payment issue and he agreed to solve with in 48 hrs.
Still my cash has not transferred to my account.
Please advice to me on this.

Disappointing behaviour of the security woman in wennappuwa outlet
First we cannot call you and make the complaints because you stand us up on the line and your facebook page asks us to text message and not to call. I wonder why saying so even after asking our contact number. well this is the complaint I was going to make. As you can check the cctv there, that security lady was asking only some of the people if they've washed their hands. She asked that from us and we said yes and asked her why was she skipping other people there. We both have sanitized our hands and we asked that bcz we thought she's going to send us back to wash our hands bcz she had tried doing that on a previous day that we have come sanitized as well. Then she acted violent there claiming she checks everybody though its false. So we moved on bcz we were unlikely to be quarreling with a security lady at the entrance. After that while we were buying your goods she was pointing us to some other people there and was trying to embarrass us. And She was doing the same while we're at the cashier and again a customer passed on and she did not ask him either. My husband went for the manager there to make the complaint as we were disturbed by that security's attitude. I was making the payments there. At the very moment that security lady came towards me calling me 'nangi' and trying to explain something. But I just said I have nothing to talk with her plz go to her manager and tell him whatever she wants to say not to me. But she was staying there and keep shouting at me!. you can check ur cctv or ask the cashier bcz she also heard everything. I wonder why that woman was acting like a security or attendant in a government hospital and I wonder where you hire these people from? Have you ever given them any training or what? We were making our complaint there trying to make the less inconvenience to others but because she came and started that situation, the queue was also blocked. Do you accept the way she behaved? Is that the supposed way we are treated? Or what kind of a action you are going to take for this?
Lack of knowledge about customer record alternative methods
Today, 14.11.20, I visited the Athurugiriya 2 Cargills branch around 12.30pm. While I understand it is a government regulation to record customer information, the abysmal status of the pen, the dirty dish towel and the water drenched book next to it made me request an alternative method of recording my information from the manager. Unfortunately at this point I wasn't unaware of the QR scanning system and apparently the manager wasn't well informed either. Hence I asked for a new pen which she vehemently refused to provide and barred me from entering the premises. Later during the day I visited Millenium city express branch where the security staff mind you, not the manager who informed me I could use the QR scanning instead of using a germ ridden pen.
This is extremely disappointing that a mere security guard knew the alternatives instead of a branch manager who tried to force her power to get her way. These managers need to be educated and taught how to handle distraught customers to begin with.
Spoiled chocolates
I bought 4 chocolates with other goods from the cargills at Seeduwa Palliya Junction. The bill amount was Rs. 2,194.85 and the cashier was Samitha. I bought them around 4.20pm. When I came home and going to eat a chocolate, I saw it was apoiled. All other chocolates also were spoiled and stinky. I didn't give it to kids. There were some chocolates left in the shelf as I remember.
Mishandling of payment through debit cards
On 7th August i bought Rs.2642.68 worth goods from Wadduwa cargills food city and made payment through BOC debit card.Cashier punched 3 times the card and from my account it deducted the said amount 3 times. I called them several times but not yet corrected. It is almost one week gone.
Please, refund the money back asap. I am highly disappointed with the staff. Take immediate action.
Crescent chicken fingers
I have purchased a packet of crescent chicken fingers on saturday 6th june 2020. but yesterday when we take it to fry it smell awful and taste like something. so it was such a waste of money. I purchased this from Aluthgama cargills food city.

On 24th April 2020 I went in to the Palapathwala outlet to purchase some essentials. I wanted to verify 02 nos. Nipuna keeri samba rice bags weighing 5kg each was of the correct weight mentioned in the label. I wanted the verification because Nipuna rice is known to be of under weight. I too have the bad experience of purchasing under weight Nipuna products from Matale 2 outlet. Though I wanted to take them back I could not do so due to the prevalent quarantine curfew imposed, hence I do not fault the Matale 2 outlet. Keeping this in mind I informed the cashier of Palapathwala branch for the 2 bags of Nipuna rice which I wanted to buy to be weighed. But the surprising answer I got was that these items would not be weighed. Taken aback with this response I took the 2 bags to the weighing place and wanted the assistant there to way the 2 bags. Her response too was the same as the cashier. However, I weighed the 2 bags and found that 1 bag contained only 4.70kg. I changed the under weighed bag, but still it was kept for sale in the shelf for an unsuspecting customer to purchase. Being a loyal customer for years I was worried with the lethargic attitude of the staff of the said outlet.
Aren't the customer paying the price in the label believing that he/she is paying that price for the quantity mentioned in the label?
If the item is under weight isn't it cheating or robbing the customer?
Don't the management of Cargills Food City feel that it is their responsibility to make sure the items on their shelves are correctly priced, correctly weighed and are within the expiry period?
Haven't the outlet staff or managers been thought that they should attend in to the customer complaints promptly and courteously?
We come in to these super markets with the belief we get value for what we pay, else we could go else where. If this type of attitude is continued you would loose valued customers.
I need answers to these questions with proof of corrective measures taken! Also please ensure that you too take action against unscrupulous products keeping in mind the interests of your customers, before the customers do so, for which you would be held responsible in the first place.

Extreme bad talking to customers
I am Dr. W. Atapattu (I was the Director of Anuradapura Teaching Hospital). I went to Cargills Food City New Main branch in front of Urban Park in Anuradhapura in the morning on 16/04/2020 to purchase some goods when I had a little time to do that. I was in a hurry because of the patients that I am In-charge of.
As I saw a lot of customers waiting in the long queue, I was turned to go back to work since I could not waste much time. This is the time that the security of Food city Main branch saw me and recognized me as a Doctor. Then He asked me not to wait in the queue and go straight in to the food city. And I decided to do what he said. So, When I reached the entrance door, the Manager of Food city (Mr. Nadun gangewathta) was tough to me and used an inappropriate approach even he knew that I am a doctor who has patients to look after. Also he said me to go back to the long queue in front of everybody and in a high tone. and I said I only cut the queue because of the security said so, otherwise I won't do such things. and the most disopointed thing was, he insulted me in-front of every body, telling I performed a wrong behavior.
That time is the most embarrassed and disappointed instance for me in my entire life also on Cargills food City. And I was so sad full of my service to patients in my country because of this kind of persons.
Herewith, I am placing a complaint to Mr. Nadun gangewathta of Manager of Cargills Food City New Main branch in Anuradapura, and I am requesting to stop these kind of bad behavior and service to customers in future. The security person is the best witness for this complaint.

They have sent 5 kg keeri samba and 10 kg nadu.. We never eat and ask nadu rice and they have done bill for 15 kg keeri samba sending 10kg nadu. Instead of 4 l coconut oil only send suryakantha oil 1l and 250 ml coconut oil.2kg dhal instead of 5 kg dhal what I ask
