Lack of service
I am writing to file a formal complaint with your company. I am supposed to be working with your company for a company relocation. My assigned rep is Maureen Mosure, [protected], email: maureen.[protected]@cartus.com.
On June 15th, 2023, I selected my benefits which Maureen noted I had not but your system time stamps then. According to Maureen, only the allowance was selected then not the other. To which, Maureen then released one set of funds, not the other set telling me I had to go back in again and reselect the funds. Accordingly, I selected lump sums for relocation and temporary living, and according to your site, it is calculated by the reps using the Conus Rates 2023. (https://www.gsa.gov/travel/plan-book/per-diem-rates/per-diem-rates-results?action=perdiems_report&fiscal_year=2023&state=AL&city=Foley&zip=)
The amount I have been approved for does not match the calculation I used from the Conus site for the area to which I am relocating too. Furthermore, I would like to know what rates are utilized so I can distinguish the amount of the "two lump" sums that Maureen calculated.
It is relevant to note, that any time over the past few weeks I have called Maureen to resolve this concern, I have been met with attitude, and argument from Maureen, telling me I have not selected the benefits. When I noted everything was selected with her on the phone on the 15th. Then again, on the 26th, I was told by her I had to select the benefits while I was on the relocation trip. Maureen noted on 06/29/2023 (after the trip was over) that she would put a rush into finance to release the funds. As of today, 06/30/2023, the site shows that the funds have been paid, but no deposit or pending deposit has been shown to my bank account.
Desired outcome: 1). I would like to know the rates used to calculate the two lump sums. 2). Receive the money that continues to be delayed, to which Maureen continues to deflect responsibility and put it off on everyone else.
Referral fees
I was referred by a friend to her renters who had been searching for a home for months with 2 different Cartus Referred agents who failed them in multiple ways and were unable to get them into contract on anything even sometimes losing out to worse offers because they were unresponsive. I met the clients on Monday found them the perfect home and with good communication with the listing agent was able to get them into contract by Thursday on their perfect home. I reached out to Cartus multiple times beginning on Monday with absolutely no response until the following Monday when we were already in contract. Only to find out they are taking 42% of my commission when they did absolutely nothing and I wasn't even a referral of theirs. I asked multiple times to lower the split as I was an outside referral and did what their agents were unable to do and they could have cared less. This was the response "There is really no one you can speak to. Cartus does not reduce" I will never ever work with them again. If the clients weren't so nice I would walk away.
Desired outcome: Response and a lowering of their commission. I am happy to do 20%
Home sales
This company is a huge joke and we will NEVER deal with them again. They put a house for sale. We make a cash offer, no appraisal, no inspection, close in ten days. We spend 2 days with these people to get a contract signed. AFTER it is signed they tell us they need a certificate of good standing. From who? At this point we tell them will send them a mutual release and get a message back that they can wave the certificate. 2 days later the people who were in the house are completely moved out and the house is vacant. Our Agent has spent every day of the last 2 weeks trying to get a closing date and still has NO response. We really like the house but are again ready to walk away due to the incompetence and lack of communication that is CARTUS.
Is Cartus Legit?
Cartus earns a trustworthiness rating of 91%
Highly recommended, but caution will not hurt.
We found clear and detailed contact information for Cartus. The company provides a physical address, 18 phone numbers, and 2 emails, as well as 3 social media accounts. This demonstrates a commitment to customer service and transparency, which is a positive sign for building trust with customers.
The age of Cartus's domain suggests that they have had sufficient time to establish a reputation as a reliable source of information and services. This can provide reassurance to potential customers seeking quality products or services.
Cartus.com has a valid SSL certificate, which indicates that the website is secure and trustworthy. Look for the padlock icon in the browser and the "https" prefix in the URL to confirm that the website is using SSL.
A trust mark has been identified for a cartus.com, but it is important to verify the trust mark and its source to ensure that it is legitimate. Ensure that the trust mark is genuine by clicking on it and verifying its authenticity through the issuing organization's website.
We looked up Cartus and found that the website is receiving a high amount of traffic. This could be a sign of a popular and trustworthy website, but it is still important to exercise caution and verify the legitimacy of the site before sharing any personal or financial information
However ComplaintsBoard has detected that:
- While Cartus has a high level of trust, our investigation has revealed that the company's complaint resolution process is inadequate and ineffective. As a result, only 16% of 12 complaints are resolved. The support team may have poor customer service skills, lack of training, or not be well-equipped to handle customer complaints.
Service levels, misquoting policy information, unwilling to rectify issues
Feb 2021, Client Service Consultant misquoted Company's Relocation Policy to employee that was selling their home. The Consultant called back a few days and admitted that she misquoted what expenses were covered (after the final home sale was negotiated). Cartus was unwilling to assist and only said they "acknowledge they misquoted policy information" leaving the relocating employee being hit financially for their mistake.
Audit team miscalculated temp housing costs, even though they pretend to have a portal to track and monitor expenses. Cartus admitted they did not properly calculate the temp housing amount and instead of owning the mistake they are penalizing the relocation employee for their error.
When the employee reached out to get issues resolved, it took 3+ business days for anyone to even reply to the email. Not even a reply stating they had received the email and looking into the issue.
There are many relocation companies out there, stay away from CARTUS.
Desired outcome: Take ACCOUNTABILITY for their mistakes and rectify issue with the employee.
relocation services
Typical Cartus jamming the employee with needless repairs at the last minute. Their solution? Carry two mortgages while the repairs are completed. Meanwhile how do I transact in the new location with the equity from my home sale? My company hired me to do a job at which I can't currently perform because of all the hoops Cartus makes me jump through. I am losing my a$$ on this house and it is not enough for them.
We can't rely on these people
We argued with the management of Cartus Financial Corporation. We said that there were issues with the house, which we wanted to buy. There were basement leaks and rodents. Trees around the yard and we weren’t satisfied with it. We asked the managers to solve these issues and they promised to upgrade the things, but still nothing was done.
Thank you for the input. If possible, please contact Jon Wyatt at our Office of the President at [protected] with additional detail.
relocation
Well I'm joining the multitude of people complaining about Cartus.
They are in one word USELESS.
Been relocated for a new job in USA from Canada. Full relocation was offer by new employer (fortune 500). I was reluctant to accept Cartus with the new job but it was part of the package.
In any case it was a fiasco. The lead from Cartus contacted us at the beginning then was almost non-existent during the move, she say she was working on the background on what I guess nothing because most of the appointment, paperwork, headache and move was done by us.
Then the fun stuff came from the loan agency from Cartus, here is a whole team of un-professional people, made serious mistake during my international relocation (I guess they are supposed to be EXPERT in international relocation but they cant even do a transfer from Canada to USA)
No one is willing to help even after their mistake, no-one know what to do, no-one do nothing. They forgot to request a VERY important document while doing my relocation, that document put a delay in our move and of course they never admit it...
They cant even do simple task obviously THEY are expert in international relocation NOT
Ah yeah be prepared to send the whole package of documents requested x amount of time because no-one talk to no-one there so each time during the process you have to re-send the same documents to different teams.
They don't do too much also, I guess full relocation for Cartus means YOU take care of dealing with Movers, real estate agents, problems
and don't count on the help from their upper management even with flagrant proof of their failure they deny it, geeh that is so professional, their mistake became you mistakes and YOU pay for it
Well I strongly advise you rethink using them if you have a job offer with relocation with Cartus. Please think twice if the relocation is made by Cartus because HERE is a firm with large amount of people doing nothing and on top they are useless. the little they do they can't even do it right. And when you have problem well good luck for help...TOTAL NIGHTMARE They cant even admit there own mistakes and blame someone else. I have started a formal complaint throught my headquarter HR management because i dont think no-one should pay for there service. BE AWARE with Cartus the nightmare is around the corner BE AFRAID BE VERY AFRAID
The complaint has been investigated and resolved to the customer’s satisfaction.
Closing date pushed back 4 times...
We have now had to cancel our FOURTH scheduled closing for our home due to CARTUS being unable to furnish the necessary documents with more than enough time to prepare. I could understand having to push it back once, maybe even twice, but FOUR TIMES is absolutely absurd and I would hope unacceptable to an agency in an unstable housing market. This company will not be used again and I sincerely hope that the reviews claiming that your agency intentionally tries to stall and wait out consumers in order to attempt to sell the property for more is without merit. If not, it is truly a shame that companies like you exist to make life more difficult for hard-working, honest people.
Oh this is all too familiar, we're currently in the process of trying to close on a house owned by Cartus. We've had our stuff in Storage since Nov. 2oth, and closed on our old house Nov. 21st. We've been "homeless" since Nov. 21st which was our original close date. It's now mid December. Week to week we don't know if we're going to close or not. We've stayed at an extended stay hotel, my step-sister's house and now broke down and rented a two bedroom corporate apartment. We've given them 3 extensions which they failed to sign any of them. We gave them a list of items to fix from our original inspection, and they want to negotiate everything verbally. They also failed to sign that paperwork as well, if they don't counter they're legally obligated to fix everything. They verbally agreed to fix the sidewalk and used the excuse that they can't do it because it's too cold. Not to mention Christmas is in a week and a half and I'm five months pregnant. Their excuse is that they are too busy and have to go through several chains to get anything approved. This is not our fault, but we're the ones bleeding money with the renting of temporary housing, storage fees, and moving fees. We're contacting a real estate lawyer tomorrow.
Don't Trust Them
I am a real estate agent in a mid-sized southern city. I have been working directly with a client for over 4 months who was being considered for a position with a large international company with a facility located in my market area. The company uses Cartus as their relocation firm. I had been introduced to my client through an acquaintance employed by the company.
When the employment decision was finalized my client called me to set up a schedule for starting to look at homes. While on the phone with my client I received a call from a Cartus representative who left me a voice mail stating I would have to register with them to assist my client. Oh, they also wanted me to agree to pay them a 37.5% fee as a condition of registering. I told them I wanted to check with my client's employer to confirm what they were telling me before registering.
Long story short - the employer informed me there was no requirement to register with Cartus to assist one of their transferring employees, nor was there any requirement to pay them any registration fee. A subsequent discussion with Cartus revealed the 37.5% fee they wanted me to hurry up and agree to was actually a overly generous referral fee for a client referral they did not give me.
Watch these shysters. They will do or say anything to generate income for themselves, even when they have provided no services to warrant a fee.
I had a client under contract, listed on MLS, and already had 2 showings. Then my client received a job offer out of state and the company he was working for used CARTUS as a relocation service.
Cartus contacted me and wanted me to sign a referral agreement as if they were the ones referring the client to me. They asked me to sign an agreement for 42% of my commission. All of the forms I had completed had to be reacomplished on their forms which doubled my workload.
Once I finished working with one CARTUS POC, they sent me to another one who wanted some of the same forms I had already sent in. Then they sent me to a third POC who wanted some of the forms I had already sent in to the other two POC’s! This was getting ridiculous and irritating to say the least.
After all was said and done and the sale was complete, they made more money off of me that I made in my commission! I’ll never do another relication where CARTUS is involved!
I was helping my parents to buy a house, and had offered an agreed price to the homeowner, but Cartus Relocation suddenly jump in and claim that they have to sign the contract with me before I sign the buying contract with the homeowner. So, basically, what they are doing seem to be, using my money to get the seller selling the house to them and then resell it back to me with higher price. They don't even need to do anything, all they did was jump in and claim. What a shame. Anyone who want to sell their home or buy a home need to be FAR FAR away from this crook. It is a ripped off for both the homeowner(seller) and the buyer.
Thank you for this information. The same is happening to me right now. I am a real estate agent and they are calling me everyday to try and get a fee. The client has been under contract and is ready to close. Cartus has done nothing at all.
Don't buy from them
I recently bought a house through Cartus Relocation and my experience could not have been worse. This is in Connecticut where Cartus is headquartered. I had a pre-agreement with the seller and things were smooth. The seller was relocating through Cartus and they started dealing with the property. They are a mess. The will not provide paperwork on time, will ask for changes to wordings of the contract and then sign the incorrect version of the document - the one they did not want to sign! They will not keep any requests or look in to any issues that you might have. The seller was also equally horrible. Did not fix any of the inspection issues and had offered some cheap credit. At closing, Cartus attorney had a huge attitude. I cannot think what would prompt any seller to be unnecessarily so aggressive. I did not think buying a house could have been such a horrible experience. Stay away if you see Cartus on the property listing. They are a rip off and unless the house if worth all the pains, stay away.
You are POSITIVELY 100% correct in this story. We're attempting to purchase a house that Cartus is supposedly attempting to sell. They're either incredibly stupid or the biggest group of con men I've ever dealt with.
Woe to those sellers who must use Cartus to relocate and sell their home. These people make house buying a nightmare. Late paperwork, misquoted paperwork...and the worst is they didn't show up for closing because they had the date written down wrong! If you're income depends on selling property and being at the closing table to actually make the deal - do you think you actually GET A CALENDAR!
What stupid ###ic boobs. I agree totally, if you see a house you want to buy and Cartus is the agent - just forget it and move on to the next. Doesn't matter how great the property is or how miraculous the price - just move on!
Unorganized, bullies, and liars
CARTUS does not care at all about the people, property, or neighborhoods they are affecting.
I just closed on a house in IL where CARTUS was the seller's relo company. First, they did not get the seller's agent (from whom they were extorting a 40% referral) all of the proper documentation or a standard of how they do a transaction.
Next, I got a different set of documents each day to sign or initial for the first week. The contract I signed was with the sellers. But then CARTUS needed to be the seller. They never told the agent this. The disclosures needed to be in CARTUS' name. Again, they did not walk the agent through this process.
Inspection items were found. We were told by CARTUS that the agents should handle the negotiation of the inspection items and that CARTUS did not want to be involved. Well, we took care of that and did not include the inspection items in the attorney letters. A couple days later, my attorney spoke with someone ("Deb") from CARTUS and she was appalled that we had attempted to resolve an inspection between buyer and seller. Is it a little shady? Sure. But guess what? That is how deals actually get done in the real world of real estate. So, at the *demand* of the this new person at CARTUS we added the inspection items to the attorney letter.
Still again, we got a request to change the attorney letter to change the seller from CARTUS to the seller. The problem was that the attorney represented CARTUS, not the sellers. I refused to make that change as not only did the attorney letter have a response, the sellers were, technically, not part of the deal.
The CARTUS attorney did not return ONE phone call to my attorney nor was he ever available at his office until we had a clear to close on my first loan. At that point, all the CARTUS attorney did was threaten me with default and then hang up the phone on my attorney. He is a spineless weasel. He is a good fit for CARTUS. All other communication with his office prior to the clear to close was with an unlicensed paralegal who could not make a decision about lunch much less regarding what was happening. She was more of a secretary.
At the close (I could not be there due to being out of town and TCF f-ing up my financing on my second loan) CARTUS decided that a $500 closing cost credit was not allowed as they knew it was for an inspection item. They KNEW the credit was there and coming. We told them weeks in advance through the Chinese fire drill of the attorney review letters. But, they decided it was time to throw out the "you are in default" threats. Over $500. This was a >$600k transaction. I wanted to stop the deal about six times and let CARTUS re-sell the house in the Fall of 2010 but I don't think they would have cared. They would have just raked someone else over the coals.
The seller told me stories about her husband *screaming* in frustration at CARTUS and is doing what he can to get his company (5000+ person company) to drop these fools at CARTUS.
They are seriously the absolute worst practitioners I have ever seen. If you speak with them and they start spouting about their "70+ years in the relocation business" ask them why they still can't get it right.
I have seen other reviews here that CARTUS uses the "we are busy" excuse for not doing things in a timely manner. Well, you are SUPPOSED to be busy. You are that good. It is your business to be busy. If you are busy, don't lay people off while scalping listing agents for 40%. That goes right in to the pockets of Kelleher.
Worthless company
Cartus relo company is worthless. They have no concern for the people they are dealing with and simply have no care for the time and money they let other people waste while they drag their feet. They treat homeowners like parties in a corporate merger and could not care less if you end up homeless because they didn't get their part of the deal done in time...
