credit card issue - citibank
Dear all,
Im trying to resolve this following issue as I had faith in the citibank officials but it is pending for last 2 years and there is no hope left.
Request you to please go thorough the details and advice what is the best option I can have to resolve this..
thanks in advance...
=====================================================================
A Citibank Salesman met me on March 2008 at my office. After 2-3 discussion which he used to call and arrange I agreed for an Insurance Policy (Birla sunlife) of 25000/- only and signed the insurance documents wherever applicable. For backup he had taken one more signed insurance document. During this meeting he told me to apply also for Citibank credit card. (There was no mention of future pay through this card. Also I had told him I will pay EMI by online Electronic transfer/cheques as I was not satisfied with the Credit card use.) .
Few days later I got a postage mail of BIRLA SUNLIFE saying I have to pay 50000/- .The Policy number is [protected]. I called the salesman for reason of increase of Insurance amount from 25000/- to 50000/-. He said he would work out this issue and call me back.
There was no call back. When I called back salesman was in Nagpur.
At that time the due date for renewal had elapsed.
I met Reporting Manager of Salesman in the Citibank Office. There was understanding between us to resolve this issue and Reporting Manager will come back to me.
Again there was no feedback. I again called both. I was told one more citibank official is working on this. She met me at my office and assured me of solving this and told me to wait for another 15 days.
When the Citibank official called me (as I had complained from the online Citibank account) from Chennai to know the status. I asked them to call after some time. I called citibank official and asked her what the status is and she told me tell them that the issue is being in final stages of resolution. The Citibank Chennai team called me back after some time, I told them that Citibank Pune team is in touch with BIRLA SUNLIFE and is in final stages of resolution. But it was a fake assurance and nothing happened. This I still regret to this day.
In the meantime I cancelled my Credit card and was in touch with her through mails but there was no update on this for next 1 month.
When I called her she said she has left/resigned from the company and (Reporting Manager ) is working on this.
At that time I had finalized a flat and for loan I was getting difficulties as my name was there in CIBIL defaulters list(Which I think is due to negligence of CITIBANK officials) Which was another blow for me.
Somehow with great difficulty and patience I managed to convince the bank officials of this above said whole issue and they approved of my home loan.
Now there was call from Citibank recovery personnel .Here also same hopeless assurance where I have deposited ~9000/- in the hope that it is resolved.
I have called him umpteen times, sent mail but there is no progress.
From my side I was helpful even after knowing the fraudulent practices of bank officials.
What I have observed is that when you need policy you will call customers at anytime to get done but once done there is no call back, updates. They forget the customer.
Customer is helpless and he has to bring all the concerned people in loop to get the work done.
Also if you are out of office you need to delegate your pending, running work to your colleague to get the work done. This didn’t happen with me within the policy elapse time.
Also before Final submission there is no final confirmation of policy details.
Now I feel betrayed by these people. Only my request is that I can’t bear more and I had enough of false promises.

rip off
I received a check form Citi Bank in June for $35, 000.00. I paid Citi a flat fee of $75.00 for the use of the $35, 000.00 for 6 months no interest. I held the check until August 10th when I deposited it into a 4% checking account. I was told on tape by Citi that I had to cash the check within 3 months and that my 6 month 0- interest started after the deposit was made. I made the minimum payment plus extra each month.
I planned to pay back the balance in full on February 9th before having to pay any interest.
I noticed on my December statement they charged me interest. I have received two explanations from Citi. One is they changed the terms and the other is my 6 months 0- interest ended in December because it started when I received the check. I am giving Citi back the money on January 12th and they are saying even if I pay in full that I have residual interest that I will have to pay. They wont give me an amount!
I feel my contract has been broken and that my $75.00 fee should be refunded as well as any interest that has been taken from me.

unfair overdraft fees national city bank
I too have complained to the National City Bank about the way in wish overdraft fees are assessed. By the highest to the smallest amount which is processed against your account would in most instances insure that your balance would be in the negative when left to pay the smaller amounts if you are unable to replenish your account on time. I have complained to the National City Bank about this policy and was told that this policy insure that a customer's mortgage payment will be paid.
For example if you have the following payments scheduled for payment and your balance is $ 100.00, instead of paying items 2, 3, 4 and 5, the bank will pay item 1 and charge you late fees for items 2, 3, 4, and 5.
Also, the bank use to allow the customer to make a deposit the same day to cover those items in the pending status. As of January 1, 2009, the bank will charge you an overdraft fee if your account is negative from items in the pending status.

stay away
I just cancelled the service today. After 3 years of being charged $69 a month on my citi card for, I decided to change my charge cards based on the new interest rate of 28.9% after never missing a payment. I missed one date and went from 10% to 28.9% therefore I called and cancelled the card and then was transferred to Credit Protector to cancel my enrollment with them and got the total run around. I was told that they could not find my record and they needed to fill out some paperwork and then submit to their supervisor and then the supervisor to the supervisor would review and process but unless I called back in 7 to 10 days it would not cancel. I flat out told them this was bull%^&$ and I would not call back to them in 7-10 days. What a scam! I called back to CITI and spoke with another cs rep who listened to what I said and what I was told by Credit Protector and then miracles happened as the next person I spoke with found my account immediately and cancelled the service. These guys should be reported to the BBB and every other state and federal agency for deceptive business practices. I know I will do my part in reporting them I hope you do too!
DO NOT BUY THIS SERVICE!

You have to understand that there are new people at ever customer service center you call. Unfortunetly these representatives are not paid enough or trained enough, so sometimes you get someone who has no idea what they are talking about.
Always be sure you are asking these two questions before the call even starts:
1. Any information a representative can give about him/her self. (name, employee ID number)
2. Location of the center you are calling
Also always document:
1. Time
2. Date
3. The reason for the call and what you considered to be true by the END of the call.
retention center representatives will use the last thing you said as what to do with the call.
what a great business practice!
After insistent phone calls frorm CitiBank to get their Credit Protector insurance, I decided to get it. After all, you never know if you may loose your job. It happened I was laid off and guess what? I did not qualify for the protection. Of course it was all my fault for not reading the booklet with all the terms and conditions. In the meantime, I continued unemployed for three more months. The bank fixed all the inconvenience by charging me with higher interest rates and awful fees for me not being able to make the minimum payments. What a great business practice! Squish you client, who has been giving you money for years when they most need help!

credit card fraud
As a soldier recently returning from a deployment to Iraq, I found that my goverment credit card had been used without my consent, and had filed an identity theft report with the local police department and the FTC. I had called Citibank several times to resolve the issue and their own investigators deemed all charges to be fraudulent. SOMEHOW, I am still responsible for the charges as my wages are being garnished. In attempt to once again 'resolve" the issue, I contacted Citibank and they gave me yet another number to call so the garnishment would cease! It sure would be nice if someone would answer from this mysterious phone number. I have waited for 3 hours at a time trying to get ahold of someone. Unfortunately, the small task of protecting this country is calling my name... and I am forced to return to work being once again the victim of fraud! This ime by Citibank.

over charge
There have been complaints about Citibank for years and no one has done anything about these crooks. That's all they are, legal loan sharks. After having an account with them for ten years or more out of the blue they raised my interest rate to 34%. I am assuming that sooner or later they do this to everyone that has an account with them. I think if the government did an investigation they would see this. This happened to me six years ago. I borrowed from my 401k to pay them off and wrote them a nasty letter telling them I would never do business with their company in any way again. I haven't and won't. The government is only helping them, not us. Best thing we can do as consumers and hard working American's is get out from under Citibank! Pay your cards off and don't do business with theives such as Citibank!

violation of privacy
On December 30th, 2008, my husband deposited a check into our National City Bank checking account at the Coldwater Branch. We live over an hour away and only visit the Coldwater branch a few times a year, if we are visiting his parents. Upon entering the building, he found out our sister-in-law, Courtney (Yeakey) Turner, was a teller. After leaving, we...

I have got a call from landline number 011-[protected], telecaller named Manju was asking about Manish, I told her in a desecnt tone that there is no Manish on this number then she replied that you are telling a lie because I had spoke to Manish on the same mobile number few days back. Then I tried to convince her that i dont know any Manish and this mobile number belongs to me ( Prachee Sharma) from last 6 years. When I cut the conversation then she again called me with abusive language, also she was threatning me. I request to this complaint forum that they should take necesaary action against this unit of Citibank or else I will take this matter forward.

credit rate increase
I have also suffered the 29% interest hike, on my personal credit card, rudely enacted by Citibank. I understand the times we are in require desparate measures. I feel their pain - I am in the military and deal, on a daily basis, with the outcries of people opposed to US military actions, worldwide. To that end, I have never used my military status for personal gain, however I feel justified in saying that I sacrifice a lot to defend the freedoms and people of this country so some appreciation would welcomed. As an active duty member who has a great credit rating and having never been late on payments, I am truly outraged that my family and I now have to sacrifice even more to ensure the profit margin of Citibank continues to increase. Is that what my service means to this company? What is truly insulting is that, as a military member, I am bound to use Citibank for business expenses. I wonder how much Citibank is fleecing the US government on interest rates for this program. I believe in the right to make profits as any American, however, when you step on the toes of those who defend your right do do so, then you have crossed an ethical line that will (hopefully) come back to bite you in the rear. I'll be sure to advise all my military friends to avoid Citibank!

I have had a rate hike of 50% since January of this year! That was from about 13% to 20% now. I also make all payments on time, have a credit rating of 820 and a balance history of just about $500 a month (i.e. LOW RISK). So did Citibank just do this increase across the board, and not on a case by case basis? We know they have the statistics on all of our accounts - so why do they do this? I'm 'opting out' of these new 'terms' as my card doesn't expire until 2012 (so I can keep my rate of about 17% until then - still outrageous). They can terminate me then, as I DO have the option to choose a company that won't stick it to me to keep their profits up or to compensate for all those poor individuals who lost their jobs and had to file for bankruptcy.
I agree 100% they did it to me and my family also..
won't stop calling
Orion Marketing Group on behalf of Citi won't stop calling me. Countless times they've woken up my two young children when I put them down to bed. I have asked to be put on the DNC list and have registered on-line, yet they still call. Their sales reps are always rude and incessantly try to forward me to a specialist. They should be shut down!

citibank would like me to starve because I cannot verify my address!
I opened a new account over the phone with Citibank, I just recently moved to Los Angeles from NYC and my original bank was with an institution based in New York, so I decided to close that account and re-open another account I made with Citibank. Everything went well, I received my debit card in the mail and decided to deposit my 1st paycheck in the ATM. Note that my employer has a business checking acct with B of A and are only able at the moment to fund my checks thru this account until they are able to establish a payroll system.
I went to withdraw the available balance which was $200 and the ATM says they were unable to perform that action. This was Monday. Tuesday I went into my local branch which was the Little Tokyo location on 1st street. I explained to them my situation and they told me there was nothing I can do I have to call the call center and finish the verification process thru the mail. I found that UN-ACCEPTABLE! I am standing here in person with a valid driver's license, a SS card, birth certificate, and mail FROM Citibank and you can not verify me?
I called the New Accounts Support call center and I was told that I should be able to withdraw from my account if I brought my SS card and debit card to the branch. The branch explains to me that it is up to a manager to perform that transaction and low and behold, they don't have a manager at the location. I will have to visit another branch. I called the Chinatown branch, and they explained to me that they ALSO WOULD NOT be able to perform that transaction because I need to verify myself through the main office.
So now my account is blocked. The call center tells me to close my account OVER THE PHONE and they will mail me a check for the amount in my account. What they are not understanding is I have absolutely NO FUNDS at all to survive. I told them I have no money to feed my family until I can withdraw from my account. I signed up for this account with NY ID and my Los Angeles Address. If this was going to be a problem they should have stated so over the phone when I first setup the account instead of holding my money hostage! If I was trying to commit Identity Fraud why am I crying the branch from the humiliation of explaining to the personal banker that I don't having any money to feed my family and I need to withdraw right now! I live 2 blocks from the branch in a well known luxury apartment complex. This is absolutely ridiculous that I have to fight over the phone and in person to withdraw $200! And to top it off one the call center reps hung up on me! I've tried to keep my composure in reference to this situation but it's hard to do that when you don't have food in your stomach!
I ABSOLUTELY DO NOT RECOMMEND CITIBANK TO ANYONE WHAT SO EVER! THEIR CUSTOMER SERVICE IS ABYSMAL! YOU DO NOT TREAT PEOPLE THIS WAY!

ks unemployment issued debit card fraud
The "Citi" Debit card issued by the Kansas Unemployment Insurance agency to distribute unemployment funds will allow unauthorized withdrawls/charges without requiring a signiture, or security code. They allowed my money to be illegally taken from me when I never used the card anywhere but at my own bank to transfer the funds over. This tells me that either the Unemployment office, the Bank, or Citi is stealing the card numbers, and making fraudulent withdrawls. They allowed six withdrawls in the exact dollar amount that were in my account, immediately after the funds were deposited, within three weeks. This sounds like an inside job.
The real kicker is that in order to report the fraud, I had to cancel the card, was issued a new card, and now the company won't talk to me about the account # that no longer exists! And when I spoke to them initially about this (prior to cancelling the card) they told me it would take at least 90 days to recover my money "depending upon how cooperative the other party is". If the "other party' stole money from me, why would I expect them to be cooperative. The company name that supposedly stole my money doesn't appear to actually exist when searched for on Google.com. As well, the Citi card company's phone message system begins by responding to the effect of "if you are calling about a card that has been lost or stollen..." so obviously I am not alone. On many occasions I have been placed on hold by this company and the KS Unemployment office's phone systems in excess of 45 minutes, and lately the Unemployment Office's phone will hang up on me before I ever get to speak with anyone. Mind you, this is time that should & could be spent searching for a job.
Nearly $1400 has been stollen from me, and from Kansans like myself & my spouse who pay into this system. It was stolen from me during the three weeks following the delivery of our baby. Who could be so heartless? Any recommendations on how to proceed? I feel as though I am at a dead end in the yellow brick road. Steve Six's office can't help me because they can only pursue the Consumer Protection claims, and apparently this does not qualify. Please help!

A bunch of thieves sounds like to me. I would rather scrub floors with a toothbrush for a living than have to deal with these idiots.
They are the worst card company out there. Bunch of thieves that work for them I think. I would rather scrub floors with a toothbrush than have to deal with all the idiots involved with the Kansas unemployment and there choice of card services.
I recently lost my job because of layoffs (again) and never received my new card and when I called the bank to see what was up the lady on the line told me that they mailed my card a week ago and when I asked her what address they had for me on file she told me that she could not tell me! After being on the phone for 3 hours I was able to list off an old address I lived at 7 years ago which is the one they sent the card to. Why did they not ask me to update my address when the unemployment office had the correct one on file? Took another week for me to get a new card in! My first unemployment pay out was sent to the account on Wed and withdrew the same day without my permission and spent another hour on the phone trying to find out where my money went and come to find out they sent it to an old bank account I had on file from 7 years ago that's awesome, an account that my ex has! Was told if the account is still open there is no way I can get the money back unless I go to my ex and just ask for it back!?!?!?!?!?!?!?! I just want to say this is the most unprofessional place to deal with and full of people that just don't want to help, everything is well it'll fix itself in a couple of days but lets make sure it doesn't happen again! THANKS FOR YOUR HELP!
Cannot seem to get my debit card from them. Every time I call them all I get is it will be here tomorrow . Now since they stated they mailed it a month ago how do they know When the mailman is bringing it. Glad I do not bank with these idiots they can't even deliver on time, why would I trust them with my money?
Its insane now. I live in California but still recieve unemployment benefits from Kansas and so I wake up every morning at 5:30 in the morning and start calling the unemployment office because once again mymoney is not coming. So after answering a few questions it puts me on the first hold, which you will go thru every time you call, then after about 6 - 8 minutes the automated system comes back on to ask you some more questions and for your SSN, then after all of that it tells me that too many people are already holding and I need to try again later. So I do try again, as a matter of fact I call all day every day for the past 2 weeks and it always gives me the same message. I mean WTF does anyone work there anymore? And then Citi Bank, oh wow citi bank is amazing isnt it? They lost my first card, lied about it, then sent me a new card. Now when I call you have to listen to 5 minutes of some dumb broads spiel about stolen cards and checking your account online. If I wanted to check my account online and put my password out there for a virus to catch then I would have got the address off of the back of my card and did that, but no I called and I dont want to hear your dumb ads. I am seriosley on the brink of losing it over unemployment and its [censor].
i am currently going threw the same thing i got my purse stolen and i called and got my card cancelled and it has been three weeks and i still have not received a replacement card, i also tired to get in touch with someone about this issue and they couldnt even give me estimate on when i should receive my card. And the same day my card was stolen the thief used my card at a store and used all of it and i asked would i be able to get that money refunded and the rep told me that they could try but it would not be guarented... and its hard to go look for a job when all the money you do have coming into u is by this card which u still have not received and gas is not cheap...
customer loyalty is a joke
I've been a Citibank customer since 1972, when it was First National City Bank. I've been a Citibank Mastercard holder since 1979. I've got both personal and business accounts at Citibank. I hold a Citibank mortgage in good standing. I've had several Citibank loans and lines of credit over the years with no blackmarks. I even worked for Citibank from 1989 to 1993; during its good years, when it put high stock in product quality and customer relations.
As a freelancer, my cash flow depends on my clients' payments to me so my payment history with Citibank has always been irregular. That is, a late payment last month, an over-payment the next, well over the minimum payment due.
Nevertheless, the card rarely carried a balance over half its rather puny $8800 limit. On average, the card carried a balance of $2200+ from month to month.
It's always been this way. Citibank happily took its late fee and extra interest charges without complaint and said nothing about it -- not even a phone call to warn me that my payment was overdue. Until this week.
I received an automated call telling me that my credit line had been cut by 60% to $3300. There was no warning that this would happen.
A call to two Citibank CSR stiffs was pointless. They were as robotic as the Citiphone IVR system. I was told that because I was late with my August payment that my credit limit had been reduced -- despite the fact I paid off $2, 000 on the card three weeks later.
I've probably been late with payments on that card at least 300 times over the past 30 years and Citibank never complained about it before.
This is how the Citibank weasels repay 35 years of customer loyalty? By telling me that I can't be trusted with more that $3300 in credit card debt, despite the fact that I also carry a quarter-million mortgage with Citibank with zero late payments?
This is pathetic.
Frankly, the only thing that separates one bank from another is customer service. Citibank's customer service took a nose dive when it lost John Reed and Larry Weiss.
I use the credit card for business and without a worthwhile balance on it, it's got little value to me. Which means that Citibank has little value to me. I might as well close my Citibank accounts and move them to my credit union, which gives my a higher limit and where I at least get free ATMs.

Closed my account
just received a letter from Citibank closing my account. I have been paying my account diligently - never been late - paid my account off several times - been an excellent customer. I have several of their cards, my mortgage is wittje, and because lately I have paid the minium amount they choose to close my account based on a business decision. What a way...
