City Lips glosses are quality products that seem to deliver on their promises
City Lips glosses are quality products that seem to deliver on their promises. I have been using the glosses at least twice a day (including before bedtime) for a few weeks, and I can see a real difference. In fact, the other night, I forgot to apply the gloss before I got into bed, and because I was too lazy to get up and walk to my vanity, I just applied another lip treatment balm that was in my nightstand drawer. The next morning, the difference was noticeablemy lips weren't as full or hydrated as when I wake up after applying City Lips at bedtime. BUT, for a company that offers such a quality product, their marketing practices are annoying at best, and they tend to teeter on the shady side. In fact, I resisted trying them for years because their ads were so vague, with a just whisper of scam. If it weren't for a YouTuber with a pretty good reputation recommending City Lips, I never would have tried them. And recently, I received an email asking if I would be willing to send a photo of myself wearing the products in exchange for a discount coupon. Sure, I thought...I'm not a fan of selfies, but the opportunity to score a discount was too tempting. I sent the photo, and I have never received a coupon or discount code. So, not only did I not receive a discount, but now they have my image (not that my face is one that a beauty company would be clamoring to use in marketing, but still). City Lips, you've got good products. Promote them with the dignity they deserve.

I am furious!
I am furious! I was charged a "double order" for the Uplift Serum on the sale site at the City Beauty site on 4/15. The first ad came up stating it would be $104 for two bottles. I then went to Pay Pal to purchase. When I went back to the site, to finalize, another ad immediately popped up stating if I purchased three serums, I could purchase it for $127, which I thought was a better deal. I then went to Pay Pal to purchase again, thinking that the $104 wasn't fully confirmed. (Mind you, the first order for $104 did not appear as a purchase on my phone until the second order was placed!)
I then wanted to purchase 3 jars of the Uplifting Sculpting Cream (which I've purchased before) for $99.
After noticing the "3" different charges on my account, I called my credit card company immediately to tell them about this "overcharge" of $104 and that I wanted to cancel that first order. My credit card company stated that I would have to contact City Beauty first to see what the response would be. I got "responses" but nothing was ever confirmed. (I have 17 pages of emails to prove this which I sent to my credit card company on 4/23.) Then I get a "standard" email on 4/20 stating that my "two" orders arrived together but I never got the 3 jars of cream! The so-called customer service leaves a lot to be desired. I understand that we're working under the Covid-19 problem but if the customer service is supposedly working from home, then what the *** are they really doing? Now I will formally write a letter to the CEO and let them know what I really think.

Just placed a purchase and spoke with a woman who came across as very disrespectful
Just placed a purchase and spoke with a woman who came across as very disrespectful. I was asking her to convey to the headquarters that their wording on the website was a bit misleading and presented some miscommunication. However, instead of providing good customer service and doing her best to make me a repeat customer I became a customer who will NEVER visit City Beauty to make another purchase. I was also trying to tell her about the many add-ons after hitting the "SUBMIT" button thus the confusion, but she went on and on like a saleswoman and just made me feel so disrespected. She tried to insist that I was asking for the wording to be changed. I tried to convince her that all I was asking was that she take my concerns to the main office so they could determine how not to confuse, not even one, that they're purchasing what they intended to. I purchased 1 jar of the product for $39 for a total of $53. Then , went I clicked the submit button, the promotion led me to believe that I could "add-on" just one more jar, for a total of two for a purchase of $78. I felt this to be very misleading as my intent was not to be lured into making another purchase of 2 jars. Then, before I could reach the end of my purchase I was prompted to purchase so many more items that I DID NOT WANT, Please look into the verbiage of "add-on" as it certainly led me to believe that I was adding one more jar to my purchase of one, now for a total of 2 jars, AND NOT another purchase. Veronica has informed me that she cancelled the first order as requested and I will see that charge back to my account within 3 days. She did not provide good customer service and perhaps need to be given more training in making a customer want to make another purchase in the future.

I just copy and pasted From another review!
I just copy and pasted From another review! This sounds like it's a recurring occurrence and it's awful customer service! This just happened to me but I ordered the mutiaction sculpting creamer! Very misleading at check out and order unintentionally another 3 sculpting cream for 99$ Called to cancel today and said already shipped when at check out said because of Covid shipping Would be delayed a couple weeks, another misleading claim ! So the below review is reoccurring and I wished I read before ordering ! DO NOT BUY WITHOUT READING REVIEWS! I am so sorry I did not read reviews before I purchase the City Beauty products. I can honestly say that it was the WORST ONLINE EXPERIENCE that I have ever had with a company! Their checkout process is completely a SCAM. When you go to purchase their products, the offer goes from BOGO, to B2G4 and on and on. I committed to one City Lips with the other free, then paid. However multiple offers kept popping up. I thought I had checked out and was trying to get out of their app, but I must've clicked unintentionally on something else! Reliable websites do not do this to customers at checkout. Later when I saw that there were 2 separate orders, I attempted to email the company that I did not want the 2nd product. I then got an email saying the product had been shipped and again I attempted to cancel the order. I got an email saying that it was too late and the only thing that I could do was the 60-day money back guarantee. I said that I would like a manager to call me and asked for a shipping label for the return. The products arrived and I received an email later saying that I could return the unintended item, but I would have to cover the shipping cost! THIS IS NOT A LEGITIMATE COMPANY AND I WOULD NOT RECOMMEND! They intentionally try to scam unknowing consumers with multiple products. SK

TL;DR: - 4 stars: Product does plump (I wouldn't say people thought I got lip injections though)
TL;DR: - 4 stars: Product does plump (I wouldn't say people thought I got lip injections though). - 3 stars: My usage = 1 tube/month. - 1 star: Non-eco-friendly packaging if this product had killer, eco-friendly packaging, I feel the price would be better justified. (And hello, wouldn't pollute the Earth). - 3 stars: Expensive for one tube. - 5 stars: Awesome that it's cruelty-free. Overall, I would say I like the product. I purchased the clear gloss. I have definitely found myself reaching for it over my chapstick during the past several weeks. Product is very sticky, which doesn't bother me too much, except when I work from home (with two, long-haired cats and the fans going, haha). When I apply the gloss, my lips go from pale pink to dark pink and gain a bit more volume. If I don't eat or drink anything for several hours, the gloss seems to dry but not in a tightening way. I feel my lips do stay soft. I, too (as someone else her mentioned) have dry lips that I pick atsometimes until they bleedand wearing this gloss has helped keep my lips smooth. It smells nice and doesn't have a bitter taste. How eco-friendly is the packaging though? These days I find myself in favor of continued patronage to companies that make an impactful effort to be friendly to the environment, and throwing away one tube every month adds up. I really wish beauty brands would focus equally on preventing single use plastics from entering the system as they do on making great products. Is there some way to recycle the tubes and wands? Or make them out of plastic substitutes? I didn't see anything on the website about any efforts to be green. I feel the price of one tube is a bit expensive. Seems as if every product I have come across on Instagram is $40 (before tax). Is $40 the new $20? I lucked out and saw a 2 for 1 deal, so I didn't end up spending $80 on my initial purchase. I was glad to see the deal, although I saw it only after already submitting an order for one tube. The people working the customer service chat were very helpful in changing my order, and I was refunded/charged the new amount right away. I am already almost out of the first tube, which I started using around June 11. So one tube lasts me a little over a month. The site says to use twice a day, but I have used it more often, as I feel it needs to be applied again after eating and drinking. I like that City Beauty is cruelty-free.
