parking
Why does Cleveland Clinic unlike so many other hospitals charge people for parking? It is bad enough you charge so much at your Main campus now you are charging to park at Hillcrest? A good reason not to go to Cleveland Clinic. Health care costs are high enough without having to pay for parking. save the excuses and do the right thing by eliminating the parking fees or at least reducing them and providing a reasonable parking pass.
compliance dept
My name is Renee Sanders from Legacy Health Services parent company for Wickliffe Country Place Nursing Home. I am contacting you regarding our mutual patient Amanda Knight DOB 7/7/1926. We have a billing issue as our claim will not process with Medicare. We contacted your Medicare dept several times requesting a fix which was never done. We then filed a complaint with Medicare and they took back your payment and paid our claim. Then the Cleveland Clinic billed again the exact same way & then Medicare took back our payment. We have been leaving messages in the Compliance Dept for approximately 1 month. Our first call was on 03/18/19. We have never received a response. The Clinic billed Ms. Knights claim per Medicare with the Discharged date in the Admission date field (block 12 on a UB04). The qualifying hospital stay is 7/23/18 - 7/26/18 & therefore block 12 on the UB04 should be populated with admit date 07/23/18 (not 07/26/18). Cleveland Clinic must fix the claim before Medicare will process our claim.

Thank you.

I am in disbelief on how we are treated by what the Avon hospital considers a lead. Patricia Ross screams and yells at us. She doesn't care who is around. She speaks to us in a demeaning manner. I have walked away physically ill because of how she talks to me. I have walked into the office while she was in there with a fellow EVS employee talking about a fellow worker. She made to attempt to stop talking. She kept going on and on about the person. She has spoke to me in could be considered a threatening manner and when I tried to speak to the supervisor William Taylor about it he asked if I liked having a job. I can't believe that the clinic allows there supervisors to talk to other employees in such a manner. There was a time I thought the clinic was the best place in the world to work now I cannot wait until I find a new job. It's been asked why no one wants to work at the Avon campus well someone should talk to the EVS workers and ask us why that is. Being treated beneath a animal is one reason.
cole eye institute valet parking
My husband recently had cataract surgery at cole eye institute. While I believe he received excellent care I have a big issue with their valet parking. We have to use valet because my husband is unable to walk any distance. On jan 9th he had his first visit ($10.00 parking), on january 11th he had surgery early in the morning ($10.00 parking) and an afternoon appt at 4 ($10.00 parking). At this time I spoke to the valet about getting a parking packet 5 valets for $30.00, she said she didn't have any. I also went to the financial aid and spoke to them about the cost of parking being $20.00 for that one day and she agreed that it was excessive. She went with me to speak to the valet and she said she could not do anything about it. Today jan 17th he had an ophthalmology appt, I asked the valet for parking packet, again she said she didn't have any. I asked if she could send someone to pick some up she said no. I reminded her that the previous week she said she didn't have any when I asked and she says they go fast. My husband started to complain and I said to him to stop because valet doesn't care. Then one of the other valets piped in to say it's not that we don't care it's that you (meaning me) just pick the wrong times to ask for a parking packet. I paid the $10.00 and we left. So far I have paid $40.00 for parking and my husband has 4 more appointments upcoming. I know people probably hear this all the time but we are both on social security and are finding it hard to pay all of this money for parking.
They told me to drive around the circle then park. I was waiting to pick my dad up. There were other cars waiting also. This worker yelled get these [censored]ing cars moving. He moved a couple that was parked to go over to the parking garage. Then he came over and yelled at another worker and told him to stop [censored]ing talking to the lady and get the cars moving. He then got in a car next to me and yelled move your [censored]ing car now. So no one was behind me so I backed up to let him out. He then started screaming at me what the [censored] are you doing. By that time I was done with this piece of [censored] talking to customers that way. I then put my windows down and yelled at him I was [censored]ing moving my car so your [censored] [censored] can get out u stupid [censored]. I have been driving up there for 6 days straight and never have I ever had to deal with such an ignorant [censored]. Then he was eating something then threw the wrapper on the ground right in front of the hospital. This guy is a disgrace and Cleveland Clinic should be ashamed of having a worker like that. Oh I took his picture so everyone can see what the little white trash [censored] looks like.
heart and vascular receptionist carol and lindsey
Carol and lindsey are the rudest people there. Loud eating in front patient will not answer you about anything. Carol was so rude to my husband and me and we will never come back there as long as carol and lindsey are still working there. Lindsey was giving out medical advice and she is just a receptionist not a nurse. We are very up set over this.

Employees are being retaliated against by the nurse manager "Angie" and no one seems to care. Human Resources is passing the buck around.
It's ok, when attorneys get involved for HOSTILE WORK environment and other violations, MAYBE Cleveland Clinic and the HR employees will start to do their jobs.
People are still scratching their heads how a person can become manager after committing adultery with a DR, during work hours, in the parking lot and splitting up a marriage.
Great job Cleveland Clinic.

Hi All,
I am from Pakistan and my mother was global patient of CLEVELAND CLINIC, Initially they collected all my mother reports and medical records and after that no one get in touch with me and my mother was critical conditions and I already told them I need the appointment and want to start medication ASAP but they only wasted the time in calculator the estimated cost of treatment instead of schedule appointment with Hematologist. My mother died without getting CLEVELAND CLINIC medication and appointment. She was requesting me to talk them but they did not listen me. Finally they sent me estimated cost letter after two weeks of my mother death. Initially they violate HIPPA policy and they sent medical information to someone else instead of me and they said that they used wrong spell of my name but it's totally wrong statement. They are the murder of my mother life and I‘ll definitely reach them with my last breath. If you want to guide me please email me.

parking, s building off 93rd. traffic, parking, safety - horrible. does anyone care?
My wife had an appointment at the S building yesterday. We traveled down Euclid to 93rd. It took over 40 minutes to get to the valet. I asked several valets if always that bad, always they said. There is no reason for that at a world class hospital. Is anything being done about this terrible problem? Let's put up another building adjacent, and ignore the traffic, parking, and safety issues. There is a beautiful fountain, why not remove that to alleviate some congestion. Why not have patient pickup in separate area. Please take some action on this problem!
I had my new van, valet parked at Cleveland Clinic main campus. We saw the driver, their valet driver hit a curb, it was a high divider. We saw her hit it. Heard the noise, across the street. She delivered and was crying. I told her, the insurance would take care of it, he said she wouldn't be fired. I too assured her, he told us, he would not! She seemed calmer, bless her heart. Next step, the insurance information. He took pictures of the Vin number off car, picture of the damage to tire wheel, and car. He gave us the number to call tomorrow. WE DID as directed. NO one answered that phone multiple times. We called to the hospital, same number. Reported it to my insurance man. They did not take his call, or return any info. It was then, to my insurance, 100%. All that paper work, photo's were a scam. They refused to address it, with anyone. Got a new BMW. Do you think, I would return to that Cleveland Clinic, no way.
Terrible damage to cars, and the insurance they tie you up with in gather material, is a scam.
failed surgery.
In 2016 I had a torn right meniscus and Dr Serna at the Amherst Cleveland Clinic operated on me seeing in the MRI that I had a torn quadricep and he did nothing with it he repaired my meniscus I went two years thinking I had trouble with my meniscus when actually it was quadricep disconnected from my knee this is all in the MRI and the report filed by him, he stated and in the real world I would just have to live with it I am trying to find a lawyer now to figure out how we could settle this pain and suffering for 2 years that I went through because of him.
service
In 2016 I fell down the steps and tore my right meniscus also my quad cept which was torn from my knee cap had surgery done by Dr Serna at the Amherst Cleveland Clinic and according to my MRI, I had a torn meniscus and quad cept was separated from my knee cap. I did the therapy return to work and had trouble ever since then because the lump in right leg from quadcept seperated. Dr Serna seen this on the MRI only did surgery to the right meniscus did not mention the quadcept. I have been to 2 emergency room visits for pain with no help from either place University Hospital in Elyria or Cleveland Clinic in Westlake I finally went to pain management 2 years later when the physical therapist was doing an ultrasound and found out it my quadcept was disconnected from my knee cap and it's in the report that Dr Serna seen it and did nothing with it so after 2 years of pain and not being able to walk down steps right I just now found out what Dr Serna did he purposely did not mention or do anything about the right quadcept and it is in my records in MY CHART I am now on tramadol and doing physical therapy which in no way will reconnect my quadcept and I'm stuck with walking down step sideways because of Dr Serna and the Cleveland Clinic.
cole eye institute in hillcrest
I have been calling dozens of times to this location to schedule a catoratic Sergey for 2 days. I've left messages with this office as well with the Sergey coordinator, Peggie Covena, she has not returned my calls or been available to answer her phone. I just recently called back to the main desk of this office to learn that she left work early today. It is now 3:34pm and I have been calling her office since 10am. I also tried to call your complaint number and I get an answering machine as well. This location should have more Than I person to schedule sergeries since no one else is able to do this and if your company can't afford to hire a second person to assist with this task than the person you have should be available and able to perform the job she or he was hired to do.
doctors not telling a 90 yr old woman with a severe heart condition not to drive
My Mother is 90 years old and has a severe Closed Valve in her heart. She is short of breath and has trouble getting around esp if outside or in a store. She used to drive herself to stores but I convinced her temporarily not to drive. She is thinking of driving very soon. I tried to get her primary doctor and her cardiologist at Cleveland Clinic Willoughby Hills to tell her that she should not drive, but her primary doctor said it was up to the Cardiologist to tell her and her cardiologist said it was up to the primary doctor to tell her. So neither one of them would tell her she should not drive.
She is like a accident waiting to happen to her and someone else also.
My friends had doctors for their aging mothers that went ahead and told them not to drive. I can't get that with Cleveland Clinic. I don't have Power of Attorney which my mother made sure I would not have any control over her ever. It is up to a medical person to make that decision and with her condition the decision is obvious not to drive but hey won't say it. So soon something can happen and I have no control over the situation.
I want this documented so in the near future when she is driving, I can say I tried to get her doctors to stop her but they would not do it. She is undecided about getting valve surgery TAVIR but still intends to drive.
Sincerley,
Leslie Wherley

I was going to have a tooth implant with my doctor in Miami but it was not possible because my blood pressure was high, they advice me to call my family doctor (Dr. Darice T. Wiegel) and ask her what can we do about it. I called the doctors office and waited for more than 45 minutes for someone to answer but nobody did, I was disconnected., I had to drive all the way from Miami to Weston to tried to talk to my doctor in person. Of course I lost my surgery schedule
circumcision
Hi, My son was circumcised in the hospital, and when we went for his two month check up she said it was not a complete job and there is two spots still attached she had to detach it in the office, when we went yesterday and my poor son was in so much pain, I am not sure why they could not get it completed at the hospital. I paid all this money for this procedure and it wasn't a complete job. Just very disappointed.

the cleveland clinic police
Our jacket was stolen from the NICU, filed report, the security cameras have the person on video, whoever stole the coat had to check in with security to get pass, they're not doing their job and they left my wife a voicemail she called back and they denied they ever called! Very unprofessional and no sense of urgency, I'm in fear for the safety of our baby and if they can walk in steal a coat from NICU what could happen to our baby? I'm a Military Police Officer in the US Army and the display they cops have shown is beyond disgusting and pathetic, we learned professionalism and how to take a job seriously in the Army, how to treat people with respect, not the case here
doctors/staff
To whom it may concern:
I would like to share my recent experience that I have had with the Cleveland Clinic. In November I was diagnosed by Dr. Haji-Ali with Sjogren's Syndrome. Once I was diagnosed, I received a prescription for Palquiln and started taking it as prescribed. Since I have been dealing many of the symptoms of this disease I had applied for FMLA and needed to receive a doctor's signature and this is where my issues begin. When I sent in paperwork for Dr. Haji-Ali to sign I was told that I needed my General Practitioner to sign off even though Dr. Haji-Ali was the one that diagnosed me. Dr. Haji Ali refused to sign my FMLA paper work because she said did not know me. I would have had my GP sign off but that doctor left the Clinic in February and I have been trying to get in to see new one. In the meantime I set an appointment with Dr. Haji-Ali to see about getting the paperwork signed.
Yesterday, May 2nd, I went in for my appointment and met with a Nurse Practitioner Jillian Charles. After a brief discussion she tells me that I probably do not have Sjogren's Syndrome. She told me there were two other tests that needed to be done in addition to the one that I had in November to have definitive diagnosis. When I questioned why I did not have the other two tests completed in November, the only response I received from Ms. Charles was "I'm not sure". At this point I realized I may have been taking a medication that was really not needed. When I researched this medicine on-line I come to find out this medicine can cause serious vision problems.
Over the years I have had intestinal issues and I have been to the gastroenterologist last year who told me nothing wrong with my stomach and that it everything looked okay. As I did some research on-line about Sjogren's (which I had never heard of until I was diagnosed by Dr. Haji-Ali) I learned that this is a symptom of the disease along with many other issues that I deal with. This has caused me to miss several days of work and the reason why I was applying for FMLA. When I asked about the paper work yesterday and explained my issues to Ms. Charles, she told me again they would not sign the paper work because they did not know me and that my problems were not a symptom of the disease. Having intestinal issues is one of the main symptoms! Apparently she does not read up on her diseases.
The other issues that I had with my visit were that the staff was unfriendly and the exam room was filthy. Overall my experience was poor at best. The Clinic has caused me undue stress and had prescribed me medicine that maybe not needed. Not to mention the time I had to take off work to go to go to the Clinic to find out that Dr. Haji- Ali did not do her due diligence.
In summary, I have been getting the run around by the Clinic, been misdiagnosed, been prescribed medicine that I don't need (and is potentially dangerous to me), dealt with your unfriendly and unhelpful staff, and sat in a filthy exam room. Your slogan; Every Life Deserves World Class Care is not even close to reality. I am completely disappointed in my experience and will be sure to share with others. I would expect a response but honestly based on this experience and my other experiences with the Cleveland Clinic will not be surprised if I don't receive one.
Dr. Pedro Torrico is unprofessional, he refused take in because supposed I didn’t check in on time.
Did on time and after waiting for more than 40 minutes they told me I didn’t check in for my appointment.
I drove 40 minutes to my appointment and 40 minutes back home, what a waste of time.
Not uncommon at the Clinic, I was a patient for years. I'd changed a few appointments and although I showed up to appointment they'd made me, they neglected to cancel the original appointment. It happened twice with the scheduling department and then I was told that I would nol be allowed to see my doctor if I missed another appointment. I made a practice of driving to the office, making appointments with the staff there and never had another problem of that sort. I finally left the clinic as a patient when my doctor retired, because it's not worth the trouble dealing with them. I have a specialist that uses their facilities but if I no longer need to avail myself of his expertise, I won't walk into another of the numerous buildings using their ancillary staff. They care about cash and not patient care. I've watched the decline in quality since my now adult children were born. It's very scary.
Did you ever get anywhere with your issue? I have a dear friend that lives in Ohio that is a Vet and he is trying to file a complaint about the way he was treated last week when getting his kidney tubes replaced. After the procedure, which went ok, it was what happened after that was totally NOT o.k. He was asked some questions before being released to go home and one of the questions was "Do you ever have thoughts of suicide". Please note that he has prostrate cancer, which has lead his requirement for the tubes to be placed in his kidneys. After being asked the question, he half jokingly replied that considering the fact that he has cancer and it is going to kill him, of course the thought has entered his mind. Meaning at the "end stage" of when the pain hits.
They told him he had to speak with a Psychiatrist before he could go home! There were two police officers outside his room that escorted him to the Psyc ward. He lost all his rights of free will immediately and it has since caused him extreme PTSD of ever getting help from anyone now at the VA hospital or even a Doctor. He wants to make sure no one is ever treated the way he was again! Even the Psychiatrist said that they should not have sent him to her before being allowed to leave.
notification of my mother's condition and updates.
I have tried to communicate with your hospital staff at all levels about my mother Martha Gordon. I have an advance directive in place and have asked to be notified of any change in her condition and when she is moved or any procedures that are going to be scheduled. I am her POA and also have a health care power of attorney as well and a State of Ohio living will declaration. The last two of the above are copied in the advance directive. There seems to be a problem with communication as I have requested. My mother calls me and tells me at 4 am that she has been moved to ICU G-51 bed 9 at midnight 4 hours later. I called the nurses station to ask what's going on and she apologized because I was not notified. I have been told that many times (I Apologizes) but don't understand why what I asked can not be followed through. I need to know for many reasons the most important to set up DNR protocol with the attending physician. My mother is ok one day and the next is very confused at times these are the days that concern me on her making decisions. I am asking you to help with this matter as I have nobody else to ask within your Cleveland Clinic hospital system. Thank You, Jack Brazzon (Son and POA) of Martha Gordon. Any suggestions be feel free to call me at [protected].
staff availability
Today my father was sitting in the chair and required help to get back to bed . I called the nurse station over 5 times and the nurse came in probably an hr later stating she was waiting for the lift team . Meanwhile me and sister have pulled him up in the chair several times, exhausting ourselves . Dad is in pain from bedsores and a back injury plus he has a tube in his rectum . We watched him struggle for 2 hrs until the resp therapist came in for his breathing treatment, she called the nurse herself twice and no one came . So she saw people walking by and asked for help. The people that helped stated that i should have came out to the nurses desk to get help . Im disgusted at this point . I told her more than once that we had called 5 or so times and so had the therapist . This is on the 8 th floor J building . This should not be happening.
Maybe they need more staff to respond to the needs of patients, the family and the special therapists that they employ supposedly to help patients and improve their quality of life.
The employees are not allowed to empathize for any patient and prioritize some over others. I'm sorry your father is suffering, but it would be biased for nurses to stop what they are doing to assist him. If he is a large man that requires a lifting team or lifting equipment, they must use the equipment. If they do not, they are liable for possible injuries sustained by your father due to improperly transfering him to or from his bed.
the hospital at southpointe
On 2/12/2018 my son was admitted through the emergency room of Cleveland Clinic at Southpointe for acute appendicitis. My son is a college student in the Cleveland area and I live in Pittsburgh. I drove to Southpointe in the early morning hours. Upon arriving at the hospital there was no clear designation of the ER and I had to be escorted to the ER by security. Once arriving the nurse could not find my son in the system and I had to wait for her to get assistance. After that fiasco I then waiting another 10- 15 minutes for an escort by a security guard to my sons room. Which is not an issue the issue is that there were 3 other guards standing in the front talking and an very empty waiting room. But they needed to call someone to escort me. Then once going up to the room I found the facility to be outdated, and extremely unclean. Dust in the patient rooms, no soap in the visitor bathroom, garbage overflowing in the visitor bathroom. The whole environment seemed very unsanitary and outdated. Not to mention my son was in a room with another patient. That does not happen in Pittsburgh at UPMC.
But to be more specific about level of care. After determining with the surgeon on call that my son was not in imminent danger and his appendix was not perforated I decided to take him home to a UPMC facility. First let me say the surgeon seemed extremely tired blood shot eyes, and very short demeanor. When I explained I was not happy with the facilities and I am taking my son home he had a few side comments. Then he brought the discharge paperwork in pre signed and initially was not going to explain the paperwork he was asking my son to sign simply handing him the paperwork and saying you can read that, I explained see that's why I'm taking my child out of this hospital. He then back that up and said he was coming to explain. After I looked through the paperwork there was a whole page that was not filled out about my sons metal status in leaving AMA. When I pointed that out again he seemed flustered and reluctantly filled out the form.
Upon leaving I attempted to tell the nurse it was nothing she did wrong per se and pointed out that the room needed cleaning she then became confrontational.
My whole experience with Cleveland clinic and its staff was one of the worst hospital experiences of my life. I would not refer anyone to this facility.
dr kaouk
brought my father to Cleveland Clinic in September of 2017 to see Dr Kaouk and discuss laparoscopic surgery to remove his kidney cancer. He was very optimistic when we first met with him and said he could do the procedure and my father would be up and walking the day after surgery. He explained a team approach, and that my father would have to meet with an oncologist and cardiologist at Cleveland Clinic. The Cardiologist approved my father for surgery and a biopsy. And the Oncologist ordered additional tests. After 2 months and 4 visits to Cleveland Clinic from Atlanta, we were told that Dr Kaouk, who we were scheduled to see on November 28th, 2017, would be unavailable and in surgery. A doctor in residency would meet with us instead. Dr Kaouk refused to even talk to us on the phone and had the resident tell us he would not do the surgery because of my father's age. I'm not sure why we weren't told that in the beginning, before all of the time and expense of the trips to Cleveland from Atlanta, Ga. Dr Kaouk's assistant, Traci, is one of the rudest people I have ever talked to. When I tried to schedule follow up appointments by phone, I was told she was too busy and she would hang up on me or put me on a never ending hold. I am extremely disappointed that Dr Kaouk did not have the common courtesy to return our calls or meet with us in person to give us his decision about surgery. My father is devastated, as he had canceled the planned surgery scheduled for September in Dayton with his Urologist, so that Dr Kaouk could do the procedure. He is now left with very few options.
