Contour bed
I bought a brand new bedroom set but did not like the mattress so I gave it to my daughter and had a contour specialist approach me and it sounded good because I have health problems and the message and head and feet going up were very helpful for me well she measured my bed and we ordered it the bedroom set I bought was massive had huge pillars on the headboard and footboard gorgeous set i get it used it for one week and it was too big and busted my bed set apart i was so upset alot of money for both well that was when they were open in boston i called they had closed and i got no help at all from any of the other locations or headquarters its still on my credit report and the mattress sucks and the motor does not work anymore for the message terrible business to deal with not worth the stress for sure
uncomfortable bed
My mother, Betty Jo Salyards, is 80 years old. She has dementia and also suffered a stroke last year. She watched a video on the recommended bed and ordered the adjustable bed thinking that she would now sleep comfortably.She sighed the contract that had a 5 day cancellation from the date of purchase. The contract was signed on 1/13/1012 and the bed was delivered on 1/27/2012. The bed was delivered on a Friday and she called to cancel on the following Thursday with the help of my sister Sue Hatten. She called Contour Adjustable Beds and told you that she did not care for the bed because for her the bed was hard to adjust and that she wanted to return it. She was told that the bed was not returnable because she did not contact your company within 5 days after the contract was signed. She did not receive the bed until 2 weeks after she signed the contract. Its hard for me to grasp how this can work for the consumer. She was also told that you had already been paid and there was nothing that could be done.
If the bed can not be tested to see if it would be comfortable for her, it should be guaranteed to be comfortable for anyone. Your Company has been out several times to adjust the bed but is not working for her. You should let her return the bed and use it as a sample bed for your future customers to test out.
I feel a bed costing over $5300.00, that is not going to work for her and having no recourse is a bit shady. If she had been able to test it out she would not have ordered the bed. She has not made any payments and is hoping this issue can be resolved.

I purchased a bed and unfortunately paid cash for it. was told i could have my choice of mattresses, firm, orthopedic top or soft. I asked for orthopedic but they sent firm. I have attempted to call customer service numerous times but always get voice mail and they have never returned my calls.
"She sighed the contract that had a 5 day cancellation from the date of purchase." That is all.
I agrre with the no customer service problem as we have tried numerous times to contact the company and they will not respond. We also have a problem with the bed and the cost of it.
Frame Broke while putting on the lower sheet
Our two Contour Adjustable Beds were delivered, on 3/12/2011, set up and demonstrated. A short time later I raised the bed to put the bottom sheet on. I put my left hand on the raised section, of the mattress, and leaned over to put the corner of the sheet over the corner of the bed and the frame of the bed broke off causing the bed to collapse and me to fall.
The company has been difficult to deal with, except for taking our full payment check, from the delivery driver whom insisted on parking the delivery van in a spot that forced the delivery be made through mud and water that soiled two of our carpets. The delivery people never introduced themselves and were rude. The people at Contour have an excuse for every question, IE they won't be in the office until xx, or you have the wrong phone number.
When I called Contour that afternoon the person at Contour said that there would be no service until the following week so I told him that I was going to cancel the order. He promptly told me he would have the lawyers call me the following week. I explained that our contract stated that I had until Monday the 14, to cancel and then he changed his demeanor somewhat.
Our cancellation notice has been received but a refund check has not been issued. I am told they will not issue a refund check until the beds are picked up, which is suppose to happen 3/18/2011 between 4:30 and 5:00 PM.
Contour Adjustable Beds is, based on this experience, not a company I can recommend and I will not deal with in my life time.

Customer Service and Product
We purchased a contour adjustable bed in August 2009, we were told and agreed we could cancel within 5 days of purchase with no chance of trying out the bed. Since our purchase, which was way over priced compared to competition, we have tried to contact the company be calling the 800 number on the contract, sending e-mails and phone and leaving a msg for a return call. 4 month's later and still no response.
The mattress sides are soft and with my bad back and hips I have slid off several times while getting in and/or out of bed. The vibrating system does not work as I thought it would and the wireless remote controls do not respond on a one touch basis. Half the time I end up sleeping in my recliner as the bed hurts my back and hips.
I know we are possibly stuck with the bed and also know I am contacting my states attorney generals office for advice. We do not and will not recommend this company or product to anyone and suggest you check out all manufacturers prior to making a decision. Also, get a 90 day in home free trial. There has been no followup since the bed has been delivered.

I ended u filing a report with the FTC after they kept calling us AFTER I stopped the salesman at the door and said I wasn't interested then told them I did the next morning when they called at 8:15, right on schedule!

If they just had a flat rate in there books for the beds it would be one thing but you can always bargain them down to about 2k if you actually need a bed like this and some people do but they are way way put of line with thier sales tactics.
the company tells you that you have been entered into the win a bed sweepstakes, ..which is not the same thing as winning... we all know that right?
The company tells people that they won a bed to get the appointment.

my name is mrs Hyland . My husband and I order furniture the first week in Aug;ust it is now the second week in dec. we were promise our furniture in 20 - 80 days, as you can see it is way over. We've been calling them since the begining of nov. The first person told us we would have it by the 22nd of nov. We call the week of thats when we no longer able to speak with anyone . We simply got a recording stating the mailbox is full on any extension you may log into. This has been so fustrating and embrassing, we had company over for thanks giving and had no furniture. We could't tell people not to come because we had already committed to the dinner. Our family from New York came up . Like I said EMBRASSING! I realize this company has done it to so many people they need to be stopped. Oh yeah just before it was suposse to come we spoke with a women and ask for our money back she stated the 80 days was nov 22 and we had to wait then thats when we started calling and was unable to get anyone someone please help us hear our cry this is so unfair I hope and Pray to God that N C BBB help us to retain our money and more this company should pay big time . Poor service, poor quality
Bought Craftmatic bed 2 years ago. Motor failed that raises and lowers the head of the bed. Called craftmatic for service, was told craftmatic went out of business. Found out the name was just changed to protect the guilty. Now operating as contour beds. Will charge me 150 dollars to come out and look at bed and then I will have to pey for the repairs. You would think a set of beds costing 7000 dollars would last more than a year and a half. Just wanted to warn potential customers of Contour beds, a piese of by any name is still a piece of junk.

If you google contour beds complains you get a slew of hits all about them changing thier name from Craftmatic to contour to get out of the aarrenties, they were fined $4 million dollars by the FTC for the sales tactics, the second highest as of 3 years ago and they will not leave your house without making a high priced sale.
If you really are convinced you need one of these beds they begin thier pitch at around 7k but if you're persistant you can talk them down to close to 2k...
we've had our bed for 1 1/2 yrs. motor for the head doesn't work It will cost $150 just to have them come out! Talk about a scam. We would never tell anyone to buy this bed.I'LD SAY WE FELL FOR ALOAD OF CRAP, CONSUMER BEWARE!

Int he summer of 2008 they had a so called contest to win one of their beds. I was called and told I had "won" a check for $500.00 but that was to pay for one of their sales people to come to our home and show us their bed as a demo. I told them I was not interested and please take my phone number off their list. They said they would but since then I have gotted up to three (3) calls a day from them, trying to sell me a bed. So after eleven (11) months of telling them to stop calling us, with no avail I just called their corprate office and asked them to please take our number off their call list. I was told today 04/14/2009 that it would take 24 hours to get out number removed from their call list. We will see if the calls stop. One thing I have learned is NOT to call trying to win something because more than likely it is a scam just to get your phone number so they can keep calling, trying to sell a bed. I too have worked for both Craftmatic and Contour and I have seen and delivered 2 beds free of any and all charges to people whom have won them. The company sticks to they're word and chooses winners monthly. Contour does in fact work off refereals, cold call, mailouts, internet inquired leads and other marketing avenues within the telemarketing arena. The product is very good and is ashame that it has to carry Craftmatic's burden since Stan Craftso gave it a bad name with all the legalities he so blindly ignored. Contour has cleaned up a lot of Craftmatics garbage and is owned and operated not by Stan Craftso but independant owners and is thriving better than ever !

I've even been getting calls now from blocked numbers asking for my wife who is bedbound and they know it and when I tell the caller I am her husband they hang up...

I got another call from them at 8:15 this morning and have told them to stop calling more than a dozen times and we to are on the do not call list but they call at least twice a day and that is after they actually showed up here because my wife answered a call and foolishly told them it would be ok.
I have to say the salesman himself was new to teh job and extremely cordial and did not give me the pitch but was require to call from our house to confirm he made the appointment, his boss demanded he let me speak to him and I started to get the pitch a mile a minute and finally the salesman must have taken pity on me and waved for me to just hand him the phone back and he in turn got a three minute lecture and he ended up telling the guy no its not gonna happen and goodbye.
Very nice man and I hope he gets himself a better job...
DO NOT, I repeat, DO NOT send in the free chance to win an adjustable bed coupons received in the mail. Even more importantly, DO NOT GIVE THEM YOUR PHONE NUMBER. After several months of telling them I'm not interested, and not answering their calls, I finally had to have their number blocked. The calls would start at 8:00 a.m. and continue until 10:00 p.m. daily. Unless your a gluten for punishment, do not give your informatin to this company.

THE CRAZY THING IS THE NUMBERS THAT ARE CALLED ARE PEOPLE THAT WERE INTERESTED IN WINNING A CONTOUR BED, ...I WAS TOLD WHEN I STARTED THAT SOMEONE WINS EVERY MONTH, ..BUT I NEVER HEARD OF ANYONE ACTUALLY WINNING. Spring of 2010 and they're still at it. We were getting 2-3 calls a day but when we finally DID pickup, there would be silence on the other end.
I also asked to not be called and informed them I was on the National "Do Not Call" list.
I, too, was told it would take 24 hours. We'll see!
Bad mattress
We bought a double twin adjustable bed from Craftmatic 3 years ago, the mattresses were under warranty for 15 years. We have a bad mattress. I called contour (who bought craftmtic) they said ! could get a new mattress for $421. and $150 shipping.

I worked there 1 week . You get appointments made by the company . Every one I got was 40 miles out of town. Once you get there if you make no sale you have to call in to a super salesman . I knocked on the door .Lady answers and looks outside and said where is the bed I won.She said I got this in the mail. You have been selected to win a free bed call today for details .She was about 85 years old .Husband 85 dieing of cancer . He was about 6ft5 in tall lying on a 6 ft hard bed on oxygen .She was saying how poor they were and she made the appointment to recieve delivery of the bed she was told she had won.I called in and was told she is lying go ahead and try to sell her.So I started my pitch.She started crying .Naturally the old man was gasping for air. I am thinking GREAT he has a heart attack because she is upset .I hit the door .Supervisor calls me saying go back and put her on the phone . Me to him F-U .4 Appointments people were told anything to set an appointment .
We purchased this double king size bed and matress's in June 2010, yes June 2010 and to date I have been unable to use it, I have lower back problems with many surgeries and salesman told me no problem this setup would help. If I sleep on it my hips and back hurts for several days. Complaining has several times their response, nothing they can do.

Contour sales rep took advantage of my elderly mother. She purchased the dual control bed, spending over $6000. She and her husband couldn't sleep on it because it was too soft. They sent extra foam inserts to add. This caused the bed to bow up in the middle; impossible to lie down on it! Of course, Contour Company refused to allow her to return it because it was past deadline for returns! She never slept on the bed and we are stuck with it! Very bad company!
In 2009, I purchased and spent over 9K for my bed which was a platinum dual. The sales person told us we had a 25 year warranty on our mattresses, that would be pro-rated if they themselves (the full actual mattress) had to be replaced, but that any time we needed an insert, that portion was free, except for the shipping (how much can a piece of foam cost to ship - shouldn't be much right?). Secondly, the mattresses were not the same height, the one side was about an inch and a half taller than the other, which our rep said would be taken care of - never was after numerous calls to our rep to the point he refused to return our calls. I called them today to get the new inserts, only to find out that now they are over $400. Really?, for a piece of foam to ship? What happened to the inserts were free? The bed itself is fine, the two sections do not stay together even with the wheel locks on, (I can live with that part, even though it shouldn't be this way), I've not had issues with the motors, but am very dissatisfied with customer service, the rep and now the fact I have to pay so much to replace an insert that was suppose to be free, which was a determining factor of buying this bed. I could have purchased a much less expensive bed and wouldn't mind replacing the mattress as I would have known ahead of time. My mattresses look like new, I've kept them covered, I am extremely disappointed and this bed will be headed to the landfill and will go back to a Sealy or Temperpedic. This purchase was one of the biggest mistakes I've ever made. Be wary of your sales person of what they tell you to sell you these beds and I now know why they changed their name as their sales people and company are not on the same page when they sell you a bed. How sad that a company doesn't honor what their sales people tell a customer to sell their beds.
All mattresses come with pro-rated warranties. Every mattress manufacturer in the United States has the same type of warranty. A pro-rated warranty works like this: If you buy a mattress for $3, 000 the amount is divided by 15 (Number of years of the warranty). That comes out to $200 per year. Let's say that in the 5th year you have a problem with the mattress and you need to have it replaced. You have used the mattress for 5 years out of the 15 or 1/3 of the life of the mattress. Take the $200 and multiply it by 5 years and that is what what the customer should pay to get a new mattress. This is fair and reasonable because the customer has used the product for 5 years.
About the first week of Feb. I received a phone call tell me that Ihad won a sweepstakes that I had returned in the mail. And that a representative from Contour Beds needed to come to the house to present it to me. I agreed and set the appointment for Feb.9th 2012. I think the appointment was for 1:00pm. Miss Clement arrived on time and gave me a Gift of a candle for allowing her in our home. She proceeded to tell us about Contour Beds, After about 1 1/2 hours she wanted to go to our bedroom where she ask for 5 pillows, she then proceeded to make up an look-a-like adjustable bed, , ask us to lay down on it and told us how comfortable the bed would be in this position, then proceeded to put a vibrator under the pillows to give us the feeling that was how a bed would feel. We then went back to the table where she started filling out papers. We ask the price and she told us $5, 078. My husband said no way would he pay that much for a bed, she then called her office and they talked and Mr Boes said for her to offer us a deal
iof $4395. with tax of $334.02 and Delivery of $349.50 making it $5078. My husband said that he would not pay delivery or Taxes, She made another call to her office and he agreed that we could have the Premium Premier bed for $4395. with no tax, no delivery charges .
The sweepstakes that I won was a $500.00 coupon which would make our bed cost $4395.00
By this time she had been in our home 51/2 hours and I was ready for her to leave.
we first kept telling her no and she finally convinced my husband that we really should get this bed, because she said that wife really wants this bed. High pressure was not the word
The bed was delivered on Feb. 14th 2012 The cancellation date was 2/13/12 .We have not had a good nights sleep since getting the bed. We have told them to come get the bed and they say that's out of the question. They sent the service dept. out to put a new softer insert in the bed and we still cannot sleep on it. I refuse to pay for this horrible bed We are 75 yrs old and are willing to take the hit on our credit report rather than keep this bed. BUYER BEWARE THESE ARE NOT GOOD PEOPLE. I f you are reading this then I am sure you see others that say the same thing.
Contour representative came into our house, watch the video and insisted on going to our bed to do the demonstration. I refused and he keep on insisting to go inside our bedroom. I raised my voice and I said I don't want you to go inside our bedroom and he asked why? He called his manager. Very disrespectful! If the customer said no, , they should stop. I will never buy your product.
I was approached by this company and ended up filing a complaint with the FTC http://www.ftc.gov/ because of the persistant calls AFTER I stopped the sales pitch with a definate no then began to do some online research an I noticed about an 18 month span without many complaints then it esculated at the beginning of the year...
If ANY company uses high preasure sales tactics to prey on you or a family member or friend I urge you to file a complaint with the FTC in addition to posting comments.
Lousy bed, horrible service, decietfull sales practices. $5900 you would think would get your parents a very nice bed. Not from contour. Look somewhere else, Please don't be fooled too.
