Credit Acceptance the worst ever

On the day before New Years, I meant to call Credit Acceptance and explain to them I would be making my payment this up coming Wednesday. My car payment was 12 days late, previously they had disabled my vehicle I had called them and they would work with me and turn it back on. I have spent the last 4 months trying to fix up my bills from shattering my knee cap in August. I didn't work again until November and workers comp gave me just enough money to drop 200.00 on my car payment then the rest a week later. In the course of December, epic events occured... there was a horrible ice storm which prevented me from getting to the office and to make matters worse I slid into a pot hole and broke my rim. I told the lady I spoke to a week ago about my problems and I was told to pay just the 59.99 I owed and things would be okay.

Whelp, on New Years Eve at 4:10am my car was repossessed and to make matters all the more worse... I was never given any warning or any chance to try to drum up the money. They constantly called me when I was at work on my cell phone, I'm not allowed to answer my cell phone at work. There was no voicemail stating my car is going to be repossessed on the next business day. They then, closed their office for the entire weekend. The driver took all my belongings that were in my car with the vehicle. He called me 8 times but like most people I had my phone on silent at 4am and was passed out asleep.

Now it is monday and the first business day, I have been on hold waiting to find out the info for getting my car or my stuff out so that I can figure out what to do. I have been on hold for an hour, what the hell kind of company is this? The car was a 2000 Pontiac Grand Am that was acting up like crazy, I had to buy a new battery and 2 tires for it since May. The car has been acting up, the radio didn't even work when I got it and ever since the second week I owned it, the car leaked out trans fluid. The warranty they gave me wasn't even accepted anywhere near my home.

Credit Acceptance is a business. They honestly do not care about your personal problems. They go by the book (your contract). You signed that you agreed to pay however many payments on your due date each month until paid in full, so they don't care if you lose your job, if it's Christmas, if your mom died. They still expect their payment. You are still expected to pay your rent or mortgage aren't you? If not, you soon will not have any place to live. Same applies with a car loan...its like paying rent or mortgage on a car. Until it's paid for, you can be evicted (so to speak).

Credit Acceptance harassing calls

My husband purchased a truck through a local dealer who put him with this Credit Acceptance, what a JOKE. We have never been over 2 days late or most pf the time a week early and they call starting the day of the due date, and they call 15-20 times a day, even after calling them and telling them when we are paying this. I find out today that they are in INDIA WOW and most them I speak to I dont understand and they are VERY RUDE. This is our final payment to them, and thank god for that. I hope for their sake I get the title. DONT GO THROUGH THEM.

Credit Acceptance complaint

I decided that I wanted to trade in my 2001 Dodge ram for a more suitable family car. I contacted Sheere Chevy and was told to come down and have a look at their used inventory to see if I could find something I was interested in. I told the salesman that my new wife was also interested in trading in her car as well. Long story short they told me that they could give me $6, 000 for my truck in trade which was the pay off, and $1800 for my wifes car. She was unable to trade in her car because her father's name was on the title and he wouldn't allow it. So I said that I would be still glad to trade my truck in. We went into the dealer on Saturday so they could look at my truck for appraisal. We picked out a 2004 Chevy Impalla SS. It had around 84k on it and looked in pretty decent shape. I told them I wanted to drive the car over the weekend and take it to a mechanic. We came back to the dealer Monday and were told that due to a lower credit score in the high 5's we were't able to get traditional financing. I told them I got into my truck with 0 down with the same credit score. They said don't worry we could get financed through Credit acceptance and our payments would be around $300 per month. They said they needed all kinds of paper work, bank statements, pay stubs, references, etc. Long story short we ended up having to put $400 down despite being told that my truck was good enough. We gave them a voided check and they said that we would be on autopay that way we didnt have to mail out monthly payments. 2 months go buy and my wife wakes me up saying that they are repossessing our car. I went outside and caught the tow driver and asked what was going on he said we were 2 payments behind and he was taking the car. I told him wait he's not taking the car I was going to call the bank. He told me if we didn't let him take the car that the bank was going to want $12000 to get the car back. I told my wife to sit in the car and wait, I told the tow driver to get in his truck and wait while I called the bank, he continued to hook the car up and said that the cops were on the way. I used to repo cars so I know the laws so I told him there was nothing the police can do it was a civil matter (only the Sheriffs dept can step in with a court order) when I asked the tow guy his info he told me he didnt have to tell me because my name wasn't on the paper work and refused to ID himself due to privacy laws. He then proceeded to tell me to "Go ### yourself" and got in his truck I called the bank but they weren't open for another 20 minutes. The cops showed up and asked what was going on and I explained the situation to them and he asked if I saw the repo order and I told him no, nor did he provide ID. My wife was sitting in the car and the cop said that he had the right to repo the car and I explained that I knew the repo laws and he did not have the right to take the car since my wife was sitting in it. He talked to the tow driver and I over heard him say that there was nothing he could do that I clearly knew the laws and he couldn't bluff me to give them the car. The tow driver agreed to drop the car and said he would get it in an hour anyway's so wipe the stupid smile off my face. He proceeded to drop the car and the cops left. My wife was able to get in touch with the bank and they proceeded to tell her how dare she sit in the car with our son and how dare she stop the repo etc she was in tears by the time she was off the phone. I called them back and spoke to a manager and explained we were supposed to set up on auto pay and they should have called or sent a letter. They said sometimes the dealers don't follow through and it was an easy mistake. They took 2 payments via western union. Our payment this month (Dec) falls on a saturday and my wife doesn't get paid till Monday. We are 1 day late and already have gotten 2 calls the rep said there is no grace period and they can call the next day. I told them she doesn't get paid till Monday but our payment was mailed out Thursday and they should receive it today or should have gotten it already. She said it takes 5 day's to get it but we are all set. After reading up about these people I see it was A HUGE MISTAKE getting involved with them. The repo company was an even bigger joke (American Lenders) I complained to the owner who apologized about the drivers action even asked me if I'd be interested in future repos with the company. Either way CAC is a joke along with there small print

After explaining my situation every time and agreeing to a payment arrangement 3 days late and van got repossessed. I only owe 3 more months and then it will be paid off. So now I have to pay $600 bucks to get it back. Stay away from Credit Acceptance. Their collections practices are illegal and the repossess at the drop of a dime.

Friday afternoon this company took 2 payments out of my bank account for my car. My automatic draft is set up to where they take payments out on the 16th, it was the 10th. I called and they have no idea where the money is and are now saying I have a payment due on the 16th. I have faxed them my itemized bank statement twice which CLEARLY states WU Credit Acceptance took these out of my account and the RUDE lady says, "I just don't see it, we can't refund your money." My awesome bank is going to help me as much as possible, dealing with these cranky people, but honestly now I wish I would not have purchased this car!

Credit Acceptance reposession

never failed to make my payment on time...one month I needed to make my payment a little later.. I called credit acceptance ..spoke with a very rude person that kept repeating the sme thing overt and over..So I went to the local dealer where I bought the car..David Fish called the credit acceptance corp. and told them I was getting the money from the bank to pay of the balance in full..but the loan was taking longer than expected. she ask when could I make a payment...I said on the 15th before the business day was over...She said ok, but it must be there by then. My payment was due the 1st day of each month...I was told I had a 15 day grace period... On the 13th(2 days earlier than I was told I had) the repo. man came and took my car...What I was told on the phone and on my contract was a flat out lie! Then I could not go to the impound yard to get my car, , , their was a fee for that...It left me with no choice but to lose my car...all the money I paid and my car was gone...this is a crooked company!

when you have the device, it will warn you, then it will shut the car down. after that you have up to 20 days to make payment, if not they repo it. but that's only if you ignore them. if you truly call and go through with your promises they will work with you. break your promises and they will do anything t get their car back

Credit Acceptance waiting for lien release

I purchased a 2004 VW beetle from a small car lot, the car is wonderful, couldn't ask for a better vehicle. They financed me through a company called credit acceptance. Since then the lot went out of business . 07/01/2010 I sent them $2, 171 as my final payment. I still have no lien release. On four separate occasions after sending the money I was told repeatedly that they were sending the release every time. I tried my best to keep my calm but they just weren't helping me. the post office looked into it for me and said that it was never even mailed. So I called and got angry immediately asking for a supervisor. Wouldn't you know it... the only thing she could do for me is try sending it again. I had the idea of having it sent to a different address, I chose my fathers house. After waiting ten more days I was unhappy to find that it still did not make its way to me. Today is 11/17/2010 four months and seventeen days after I paid the car off. This is my seventh conversation with them. I was told once more they had no idea why its not getting to me and the only thing they can do is send it again . The Post Office said they're not even receiving it to be mailed. This is were I stand. The only number for them is the billing dept. They wont give me the other number. Somehow when the lady that i talk to hits the button that says send the lien release its not making the connection for me and they dont want to help me resolve the matter other than just "sending another one out" . These company buildings are thousands of miles from me, am I supposed to drive to them and make the connection for them?

Hi MusZicMan,

Just yesterday after I posted my complaint on this website, I decided to do the same with the BBB. We will see how it goes. I am waiting a response from them - hopefully they can help, or else I feel like I really might have to drive all the way there just to figure out why this has been an ongoing problem.

I would be interested to know your outcome. Please keep me posted. :)

Update on my issue - I found an email address for Credit Acceptance on the BBB website. I then sent a request for the release of lien to that email address (I also CC'd the BBB). After a few days, I was contacted by Credit Acceptance and have finally received the release of lien. Here is the email address: OTTO@creditacceptance.com

I paid my car off on July 26, 2010 and have contacted their "Billing" department four times. Each time I get the same response "oh, that was mailed out on (random date). I have never received my release of lien. Again, when I call they do not have anywhere to transfer me to. I am going to file a complain with the Better Business Bureau as I have run out of options.

Credit Acceptance lemon wreck

Bought a lemon 2005 Jeep Grand Cherokee with 78, 000 miles from U-Save Car and Truck Rental and Sales off of Hwy 501 in Myrtle Beach, May3, 2010 always on time with my payments. Took the car back six times before warranty was up concerning my brakes, I even left the car so they could fix the brakes and A/C button which only worked when turned on HIGH, they never touched my car, it was leaking brake fluid the whole time I had the car. U-save did nothing to help me, the car started jerking in September 2010 and got worse so I had to not drive it as much I left it parked in my garage. Then it started leaking transmission fluid November 1, 2010 took the car to Mieneke they put the diagnostic machine I waited two hours until they finished with my car the diagnosis: TRANSMISSION was no good and needed to be replaced, the brake were CHEAP and BAD, TRYING TO SHIFT TWO GEARS AT THE SAME TIME, LEAKING TRANSMISSION FLUID BADLY & BRAKE FLUID. Called U-Save Car Sales talk to the new manager nothing. I called Credit Acceptance they didn't care they just wanted their payment. Bottom line is I had the car almost 6 MONTHS, I told Credit Acceptance I wasn't paying them another dime for a car I couldn't DRIVE and to come pick it up. CREDIT ACCEPTANCE and these FRAUDULENT DEALERSHIPS work hand in hand the dealership pretend to finance you a certain amount and Credit Acceptance the other half and they got you. YOU REAP WHAT YOU SO. I'm NOT DONE they can't get rid of me that easy. See pics below

Why would you pick that car with all those things wrong with it in the first place? You gotta remember, you're not buying a NEW car, it's used...next time you buy used, get a mechanic to look at it FIRST. Credit Acceptance didn't force you to pick that car, all they did was pay for it. And, like the other poster said, they will sue you for the balance whether you have the car or not...and if that doesn't work, they can and will garnish wages as well. Be careful.

Credit Acceptance repossed car with 17 day late payment

i was 17 days late on payment. i had the car 10 months the car spent more time in the shop then i did driving it. and then i told a representative at credit acceptance i was going to be late because my check was lost and had to be reissued by the state. They repossed the car with only 17 days late on the payment. They also did not give me the 24 hr notice as required by law by credit acceptance.

I share your pain, my car payment was 12 days late. I woke up on 12-31-10 and walked out to go to work, my car was gone. I had just paid 50 dollars a week ago, which was for the last months payment. I have been going through financial problems over the last few months because I broke my knee cap at work. Now I was finally starting to get things together and bam, I walk out and it's gone. As I said, I had just talked to a woman a week before and just dropped money into their box. I have never heard of a car getting repossessed for 280.00 dollars.

Credit Acceptance passing the buck

We purchased a used SUV from a dealer in March of 2009. We knew that our credit was in dissaray, so we weren't too surprised at the interest rate (25%). We were told by the salesman at the dealership that in order for us to be approved by the lender that we had to have a checking account so that the payments could be debited automatically. That was not a problem. All of our payments were made on time until I lost my job. The loan was only for 2 1/2 years. It wasn't until I couldn't make the June 2010 payment was I made aware that they had the ability to disable the car. The salesman never explained that to us. I called Credit Acceptance on June 23rd to inform them that my payment would be made in a few days, the rep said "okay" and we hung up. I received a call about 4 am on the 24th from a manwho stated he was from Credit Acceptance and that he was outside about to reposess my vehicle. After speaking with him for a few minutes outside I gave him the keys to my car because he didn't have a flatbed tow truck and I didn't want him to tow my car on a whell-lift tow truck. I asked him where he was located and tole him I'd be there in a couple days. After speaking with C.A. they told me I had to pay an additional $325 to redeem my vehicle. I eventually mde the payment on the 30th. After going back and forth with them I was informed that my car was about 2 hours from my home at the auction site (I still made the June payment in June). After contacting the auction site, they informed me that I would need a tow truck because the transmission on the car was no good. I never had a mechanical problem with this vehicle. I had to go back and forth between the repo agent and the auction site to try and determine who was responsible. I decided to contact C.A. for same assistance. The rep in the reposession told me that any damages that occurred has to be handled by me and that they "had nothing to do with that." My position is that if the repo agent was acting on the banks behalf then they are responsible as well. Nether the repo agent or the bank wants to hold responsibility for damages that occurred while in their possession. I Had to pay over $1300 in repairs and towing and now I have to fight to get my money back.

Domin0 - Regardless of whether it was paid up or not, this customer called to inform Credit Acceptance of a payment that would pay them up that would happen just 2 days from the call. Common sense would tell you that most companies would have at least given this person 48 hours to show a payment, not jump on calling a repo on them as soon as they call to report a payment. That's dirty business. Maybe I'm biased anyway, because Credit Acceptance was also crooked with me. My ex-wife had my vehicle, under contract but in my name, and didn't pay for a few months. When I was finally able to get the Jeep back, I talked to them and they seemed to be willing to work with me - or so I thought. I made 3 payments in one month trying to pay it up then only owed 2 more payments. They said I could make a payment arrangement, which was done over the phone. I was to pay $100 a week since it was down to about $500 until it was paid up. I made a $170 payment that week, the sent another $100 the next week. When I called to let them know that I made the next payment, they said they weren't allowed to do payment arrangements with me and said that if I didn't pay them $477 immediately my Jeep would be repo'd as it was already in repo status according to them. They are a crooked company, so there's no real justification for how they treated this customer's situation or anyone else's situation for that matter. Just peculiar to me that they will work with you when you owe over $100 dollars but when you get the amount below $500, they decide to try to repo the vehicle.

Credit Acceptance didn't tow your vehicle...some towing company hired by Credit Acceptance towed it. Your problem is with them. If you made your payment on time, you wouldn't have to worry about repo's.

Look at your contracted due date versus your payment history. It should show you that you're not making your payments on time, and they don't assess late fees every two weeks. By law, they can only assess a late fee once a month. Not only that, but you need to stop lying. They don't charge you for a copy of your payment history. And, they can fax it to you. You probably didn't even ask. I've had them fax me mine every few months. Never been charged for it.

Although I am at fault for falling behind on my payments at times with Credit Acceptance, they have been less than cooperative to work with. I purchased my SUV a two years ago and was having my above-agreed amount of payments withdrawn automatically from my bank account. They seemed to have been able to go in try to take the payments BEFORE the agreed upon date, which in turn overdrew my bank account. After no contact with them for some time, all of the sudden at 3 in the morning two guys show up at my house to take my SUV. When asked how much I was "behind" they couldn't tell me...all their orders were was to repo the truck. After the repo people didn't report to the police station, and drove off in my vehicle like bats out of hell as well as quite an ordeal and lots of money later, I got my SUV back. Although the vehicle had to be put in the shop because of something malfunctioning from the time the repo people took it on Friday and me getting it back on Monday, I found out either Credit Acceptance or the repo people were already making plans to sell my SUV out from under me and leave me stuck with the payments. After contacting a lawyer and Credit Acceptance, I requested a detailed copy of my payment history...Credit Acceptance had been adding a late fee of $20 every two weeks to my account for some unknown reason, which still hasn't been explained to me as of today. After making new payment arrangements, and actually sending them an additional $20 per payment out of nowhere last night the repo people were back at my house saying that I had fallen behind yet again on payments and asking for my keys. When asking the repo people to call in a flat bed to haul the vehicle away, they refused. How that is I'm not quite sure, and when I asked for them to fax me to my employment a detailed payment summary showing where I was behind, they said they couldn't do that, but would charge me for mailing it to me. The place is completely ridiculous and not customer friendly at all. They don't honor the warranties you purchase, they nickle and dime you to death, and I wish I would have never contemplated doing business with them and would warn ANYONE and EVERYONE not to. You would think that if they were THAT worried about the money, knowing that I'm employed, that when the payment wasn't there that they would garnish my wages for guaranteed payment. Noooo...they'd rather screw up your credit and add ridiculous recovery costs to their bill. When I confirmed that they had received the payment to get my SUV back this time, there was a "one time" additional feel that will be expected to be paid by next week in addition to my payment, and that my payments have gone up to almost $100 over what was originally agreed upon.

Credit Acceptance repossession and questionable practices

My fiance and I have had problems with Credit Acceptance since day one. After the first month, we were told that we were late on a payment when we were told by the "loan officer" that we were to be given a 15-day grace period. This had went on for a couple of months and at many points we were about to lose our vehicle. This past June, we had our vehicle repossessed by Missouri Repo Company and had it lost for about a week. When my father had paid the money on a Monday, we could not get our vehicle out till that week on Wednesday because the vehicle had already sent it on transit to an auction house in Earth City (by St. Louis). We called on a Tuesday to pick up our vehicle, but they had stated that they could not do anything because it was a Tuesday and that was their big auction day. When we had our vehicle paid, it should have been brought back to us, and instead, it was sent to an auction house. We had a key given to the repo officer, and when my fiance picked up the van, it had no key attached to it. Missouri Repo had kept the key, and we have eyewitness reports that the vehicle was driven out of our subdivision, not towed off. Now we have more fees attached to our account than was previously stated, they are charging us for the key that we had to get because the repo company had kept the key, saying "we didn't get a key", and more fees keep coming up. If anyone had any info that can help, please let us know, and if someone you love or pal around with has bad credit and is referred to Credit Acceptance, tell them to run away. They have screwed us and many hardworking Americans for a while now, and we don't want anyone else to fall under them.

I started sending them payments via certified mail return receipt requested because of their late fee games.

That way I could prove when they or their agent received the payment and I looked up the state statutes and had the law on my side.

it may cost me $6 to send a payment that way but at least it isn't in CA's pocket and I can prove the date of receipt. They also can't screw with my credit that way either.

Credit Acceptance I dare you to report me late on my credit. I WILL sue you for damages, I have a case pending in my district pro se ... go ahead and THINK your going to "call my bluff", you will find out very quickly that it is no bluff.

I would have called the police if they refused to allow me to see the care before signing a release for damages. Not sure what they can do but they can document that the company refused to allow the consumer to inspect the vehicle BEFORE signing a release.

March 2009 my car was repossessed because I had gotten behind on my car payment and I too having been finaced by Credit Acceptance had a horrible nightmare with this company. First my son and myself on the title for this car so they pick-up the car at his job. The next day I called Credit Acceptance and they told my I need $1382.00 to redeem my car and all this paperwork (references, proof of income, resident, bank statements, ect. as if I'm buying the car all over again faxed to them along with the Money Gram. So I get all this information and fax and send money I owed. I played games between Credit Acceptance and All Cities Recovery all day about releasing my car before it went off to be auctioned. Finally, I get to All Cities Recovery, which I later find out is right accross the McKinley Bridge. I go in and they have you to sign a waiver before you get your car stating that everything is fine and the catch is you can't see your car before signing this waiver. So I sign just relieved to get my car back. They bring my car to me and my steering Wheel Cover is ripped in two and their is plastic bag is the back on the floor along with empty Marlboro box and to top it off my engine light and brake light is on. Well I immediately ask the guy why was the emergency brake on and could he please take it off since I never use it. So I start on my back home to O Fallon, Mo and I noticed my back brakes are making noises that were not heard before this repo. I keep smelling something very foul coming from the back of the car. So I look inside the plastic bag and it's a ### baby diaper! and I don't even have any babies! The next day I take my car to Midas and they tell me I need new back brakes. Thanks to All Cities Repo Co. The nerve of them to use my car for they on personal use and they only had the car less than 24hrs. I know for a fact that the car was driven from my Son's job and probably with the emergency brake on at that! So I had to pay for new brakes and it was'nt cheap! I hate Credit Acceptance with a passsion! I've complained to the Michigan Attorney General and BBB in the state of Michigan and Credit Accceptance is telling them lies and making me look like I'm a terrible Consumer. I am charges late fees when I'm not late and What ever happened to the Customer is Always Right!

Credit Acceptance unauthorized charges

I didn't like this company from day one. The so called customer service was ridiculously rude with the exception of maybe 3 people. (In the almost 20 people I talked to.) Their guidelines seemed shady, but I figured it was meant for people rebuilding credit so I dealt with it. I was told by the dealership that I HAD to get GAP protection and an extended warranty through Credit Acceptance in order to be financed, so I did. Little did I realise that once my car needed to be fixed of course nothing was included in my warranty. Partly as a result of that I ended up in a wreck with my car. It was deemed totalled and I felt ok about it because I knew the car wasn't worth the amount of the loan, but I had GAP protection. Or so I thought... My car was wrecked right around the payment due date of the month and the insurance was sending them a check. Once they received the check from my insurance company they were suppose to send paperwork to the GAP department to take care of the remainder and it would take 7-10 business days to process. I called back two weeks later and nothing was sent to GAP, but they said they would 'send it today'. I called a week later to check on it with the same results. This happened 3 times before they actually did send the paperwork. I just received a letter in the mail stating how much GAP was sending a payment for and realised it leaves me with a $1250 balance due! When I called I was told it was because the GAP department doesn't pay past due payments. With the exception of the payment for month I wrecked my car the whole situation was drug out 2 months because they didn't do their job to send the paperwork until over a month later. Now I am stuck with a bill on a car I don't have because those rude employees can't do their job. NEVER GO WITH CREDIT ACCEPTANCE!

Credit Acceptance car repoed but repo guy will not leave me alone

I live with my parents and about 8 months ago my parents lost their jobs and we lost are home around the same time. As of recent being the sole bread winner of my family I was unable to keep up with my car payments and I missed two payments with Credit Acceptance. After many attempts to get them to work with me, I lost my battle and my car.
My car was picked up about two weeks ago at my work place. I work at a retail store and the guy that came and picked up my car came into my work two weeks later. That was fine up until he was denied the sale because his name wasn't on the business credit card that he was using. He told my coworker that I new him because he just reposed my car and I've been to his business because I had to pay him $71 to get my stuff back from my car. I walked away after hearing this. But what made things worse he was taken to customer service and he preceded to tell my boss my full name (and anyone that listend) and that he reposed my car and that I would tell them that he was the owner of that company. He said this in such a manner that all of my customers could here.
I felt that this was a personal matter and I was humiliated. I'm not a dead beat I really like to pay my bill on time and I always try to keep my word. But I just wasn't able to keep my end of the bargain in this mater. But he's just the repo guy and he did his job and I turned over my car without a fight. He has no need to come to my work place and say things like that
Not sure if I can do anything to the guy legally, but I will try. I was told by my boss that if he comes into work again and says something to me about my car he will be removed and banned. But now I'm kind of afraid to come to work, and I worry that he will show up at my home. Any advice about this guy would be great.

I am in Alabama, I my car note was month behind on the and it was put on the repo list after being 3 days late. I made that payment on the 20th and and I was advised my car is still on the repo list because I had another payment to come due on the 19th. Today is the 22nd and I have to hide my car again because if I allow them to pick it up I will have to pay a repo fee of $365 + my car note of $335 and this on on a 2000 Durango. I spoke with a Credit Acceptance rep who was very rude and nasty. I advised her I would seek others who felt mistreated or who were just plain tired of the "unfair collection tatics from Credit Acceptance and see if a class action suit could not be filed. My credit is terrible, and that is 100% my fault. But as a consumer I just dont think that the way CAC does business is right.

Credit Acceptance fraud and cheating

One day me a and my parents went looking for me a car, sure enough we went to a lot that looked crappy but went anyway because we had been searching for months. So we went to a dealer and a lady took my info ask me to pick out a car(really it wasn't any nice cars there but they was drivable). The car I had picked out had already been wrecked and had a big dent on the left side in the back it was noticeable but to an extent.

Getting to the point I was approved with 1500 down and went to sign all the papers with my mom her name was on it too due to my dad having an disability. Once finishing signing papers we had a long wait saying that the car was being inspected and that they had to make sure everything was working but it took them hours. never did they tell us that they was putting a device on the car and never told us at anytime the paper we was signing was agreeing to have the device put on there and didn't mention at anytime that it was part of the contract.

They went over payments with us and the total but skipped out on the small print that stated about the device and we wasn't able to fall behind even 2 days. We found that out maybe a month later when I had made my payment ON TIME yes ontime and they cut my car off to see was the device working thats when I found out and call my mom and said my car wont crank. we called them they said it was a test of course. I asked test what and then they explained and stated that we signed the paper I said no they said yes .we will mail a copy to you and from then on it was h*ll.

They have the car back in they possession right now, its horrible if I would have knew that no way that would have been my first car experience. Small print should be illegal making prints smaller where you cant see it or just over look it and don't mention it to you where it could be read is very misleading.

I am from Delaware and I went to a little rip off car dealer called B and Z's Public Wholesale Outlet. From the first week I was having problems with the car and the car dealer refused to fix the car to make it so it would stop having problems. It was just one problem after the next. Finally the car dealer went out of business. Credit Acceptance said they were investigating and I never got a call back from them. I finally called them to voluntarily repossess the vehicle. Well it took them over a month to do that and all along they were calling me two and three times a day for the payment. I told them i was not paying for a car I could not even drive. It would not pass inspection. It needed a whole new motor. Now I am stuck with this car on my credit. I don't know what to do with this.

Don't sign things that you don't read. It's not small print. I've signed the paper myself, but I'm smart enough to READ every word on every page before I do. It's that form where you sign like 12 times, about 3 pages long, that says you agreed to the device on your car. And, they don't "test" the device by shutting it down. They shut it down if you don't make your payment or if the device malfunctions, then that is not them. Be smart next time and READ BEFORE SIGNING ALWAYS!

Your problem is with the dealer that sold you the vehicle. Get a lawyer and try to sue the owner of the car lot if you feel they did you wrong. You can still sue even if they are closed down.

Nothing you can do. You signed a contract to pay for the vehicle and you are responsible for paying for the vehicle. Used cars are sold as is.

Credit Acceptance scam and cheating

Do not finance a bicycle with these people no matter how desperate you may be. My ex-husband financed this car in my name with this company about 3 years ago. The car was garbage to begin with when the A/C went out the first week, the transmission went out at month 2 AND 3. Well luckily someone hit me head on and totaled the piece of junk after the 3rd month. Unlucky for me, I sustained serious injuries but have since recovered. Thank goodness we purchased GAP insurance for this vehicle! I was late 1 week late 1 time and the second you become late they begin to call and harass you beginning at 8am in the morning and ending at 9pm that evening. They even called Saturday and Sunday threatening to repossess the vehicle. Why I'm so angry now is that it has been 3 years since this lemon has been paid off. My auto insurance paid immediately and GAP paid soon after. I was up to date on the payment when the car was totaled. Well Credit Acceptance didn't seem to get that. They have totally wrecked my credit which I have disputed month after month after month. Finally they have removed all the lates from the account from 2 of my reports. So I thought the battle was over...not so fast. They have reported me as being 90 days late last month, and the car has been paid off since NOV of 2006! NEVER NEVER NEVER finance with these people! So now I begin the battle again. It has dropped my credit score dramatically.

This place is ridiculous! I would recommend that no one, under any circumstances, use this company! You are asking for trouble! I had a car financed through them. Worst mistake of my life. The car was a lemon. I could not afford car payments and car repair, so I called them and said to come get the car as I don't have the money and I was getting further into debt. They did come to get the car. I called them a week later asking about the remaining balance on the loan. I was told that the car would be sold that following week and to call back then. I did and left my name and number on a voicemail. I never got a call back ever, and finally, I got tired of calling and quit making attempts.

Three months ago, I found out that they were filing a judgment against me and were planning on garnishing my paycheck. The only reason I even knew this was about to happen was because I looked myself up on my local clerk of courts website. I never ever received anything from this company in writing or otherwise that explained anything about this situation. They never contacted me after the many attempts I had made. And they did garnish my paycheck, four times. I filed bankruptcy to clear this up, and I will make sure that everyone I speak to is fully aware of Credit Acceptance Corp and their sneaky tactics and what a low-life group of ### is employed there. I am a single mother, who could not afford the garnishment, and it really put a strain on me. And the sad part is that I would have gladly worked out some type of arrangement with them had I been given the opportunity. So again, I say please, please, please stay away from this company!

This company is one of the most disrespectful companies I have ever dealt with. I was 3 days late mailing my payment and they were harrassing me from day 1...then they added the late fee which goes into effect 10 days after your payment date...Which I was way before on the payment. They seem to only process payments 1 time a month and in order to "be on time" you need to mail your payment 3 weeks before it is even due because even if you make your payment on the date its due by sending it to them...your still going to be late because they only process what you send them 3 weeks after you send it. I am now in collections for sending my payment out 3 days late 2 months in a row...I have asked several times if I could please move my date by 1 week even if I have to pay extra since my paycheck dates got moved on me..they said no and if I didn't like when my date was...I could pay my car off or turn it in. After that comment I was hung up on and when I called back to talk to a supervisor...the same thing I was given the 2 options...and again told good day and hung up on. This isn't fair and something should be done about it. I am thankful to have a 2nd chance at rebuilding my credit (messed up at a young age) But this is not only unprofessional but this is harrassment and should have something done about it..NOW.

Credit Acceptance grand theft

On 11/19/08 Credit Acceptance, wrongfully towed my car. I only had the car for 42 days, and it was towed. According to the repo department at Credit Acceptance, my payment was due on the 7th, however I received a phone call from one of their representatives for the first time, on 10/29/08, asking me on what date I would like my payments to be due on my account, I explained that I get paid twice monthly, on the 15th and 30th of every month and that the 15th would be ideal, the representative went on to tell me that in addition i would be able to pay the bill late up to ten days after my due date, sort of a grace period. I was under the impression that my payments would be due on the 15th, with an additional time of ten days, keep in mind this is my first payment to Credit Acceptance. Now to get my car out of impound, I have to pay the first month care note to Credit Acceptance, which is fine, plus an additional payment of $360.00 to have my car released. Because of the error on behalf of their representative, not being clear on the purpose of the call, the car was repoe'd to Miami, approximately 45 minutes from where I live, I had to find my way there on my own, since I live here in Hollywood Florida by myself, and the only efficient means of commute, is by car. This puts me in a financial strain, me having to ask my employer for a pay advance to get my car, and find a way to where the car was taken to. When I called and spoke to a rep at the repo department about this, their explanation was that since the car had a locater put in it, their system automatically generates an order for a car to be repossessed, if a payment is not posted. No one did anything to help the situation, and I was being told is that 'Credit Acceptance, is not going to eat the expense of having the car towed'. This to me is grand theft.

I have a vehicle financed through this horrible company and will be paid off in nov of this yr. I recently lost my job and got behind . But calling them and tryin to get them to work with you is impossible. They only will pick you for info so they can repo the vehicle. I havbeen reemployed and sent in 2 payments . They returned the payment and still want to repo. Now my question is is can they legally do this ? I feel they have gottin so much money out of me and now its close to being paid off, they would rather repo and resale to triple profit.

To the orignal poster - When you have a device on your car so where they can track it, you have to make your payments on time every month or they will repo it. By law, they do not have to give notice that they are picking it up because you "read and agreed" to a contract that you signed at the dealership saying that you would pay it by the due date each month. They really have no legal obligation to call you as you should know when your due dates are and how much you owe because you SHOULD read before signing ALWAYS!

Credit Acceptance is terrible. I bought a car in 2006 and no longer was able to make the payments after I lost my job. I contacted the company and had them to pick the vehicle up because of my situation. A few years later, I received a packet in the mail stating that I owed the company the remaining balance on the account with interest even though the car was returned. Now here it is 10 years later and Credit Acceptance wants to garnish my wages for a vehicle that was returned to them, and was sold again! This is a horrible company.

Customer service is horrible...I lost my job at the end of October of 2009 my payment was due on the 15th of November with a current balance of $261.00 but by the 16th the car was repoed.

I paid in 25 months of payments prior to this, and only had two payments to go and an estimated amount of $520.00 on my balance.

I called them and told them how is it they could take a car that had only tw0 payments to go. Anyone looking at the payment record would have noticed that the car was going to be payed off in about 5 more weeks instead they towed it and told me they had no way of contacting me so by the 16th they had it towed and on the 20th they sent me a later in regards to my unpaid monthly balance. I feel as if it was all planned out and they took advantage of the situation, In the whole 25 months that I had this car Credit Acceptance was always able to get in contact with me or someone in my family to ask about monthly payments, which was fine but for some reason at the 26 month of payment they had no contact info on record for me but they still managed to send out a letter 4 days after they towed the car. Not to mention I live in upstate NY and they towed my car and personal things to MA and then towed the car for auction to CT one big mess, so they wanted me to pay them about 500 dollars and I would also have to go get my personal things from MA and then pick up my car From CT and on top of that the cars fuel pump was no good so I would have had get it to towed back to upstate NY. Car was only worth about 1000 bucks. I told them they could keep the car but dont hold me accountable for the towing fees when they didn't use commen sense or even customer communication skills or service . On top of it all they sent me a letter today telling me they sold the car for 1200 dollars and due the towing and processing cost I still owe them about 500.00 bucks. Why would they ask for the same amount of money(500) if thats what they were going to get for the final payments of my account. This is so wrong they got 25 months of payments @ about 256.00 dollars plus 1200 @ auction and now they want 500.00 dollars from me. Total amount is about 6, 900 dollars they will be making and me I got no car and a notice to pay 500 more dollars. GREED, GREED AND MORE GREED is killing this country and families, it is so sad. These companies don't care about you or your family just the numbers.

I bought a car in August of 2009, financed by Credit Acceptance. I am never late, I send my payments in, even before the due date, but how odd, that Credit Acceptance is the only biller that I have, who complains about being me being late. That's hard to believe that they don't get it on the due date. Due on the 9th, I had the check made out for the 8th. They actually, called on the 10th. One month they called on the 9th. Are they NUTS? Someone doesn't go to the PO Box. I never had trouble with Chrysler Financial, I was always on time. They treat you like you are a month late, when I know for a fact, I am not late. Why is it only this company claims I am late? And they say there IS NOT A GRACE PERIOD? What in the world do you call it when they tell you that after 10 days, they will add on a "late fee?" Someone should do something about this company. I heard from a legitimate car dealer that they do not have a good reputation. I won't repeat what they call them. I am Praying for another car and I will let them come and get this one, I don't care what it does to my credit. I have good credit, but you wouldn't believe it, the way they talk to their clients. They think people who don't have a lot of money, are automatically going to be late. I just want to be rid of them. I will continue to pay my payments the way I do, and if they continue to call me, insisting I'm late. I will find out how I can deal with them, legally. The lady tried to tell me that I was late every month. Funny, the man I first talked to said they got it on the 9th last mont, Well, I sent the check for the 6th, and this month, it was the 8th. The bank sent it on the 3rd, enough time for it to get there for the 9th, even though the check was dated the 8th. I think they purposly count the payment on the day they cash the checks. This company needs to be rebuked.

Credit Acceptance scam and cheating

In July of 2008 i had my car for a month made my car payment on the 1 if august, wich was my first car payment ever. Paid my note that morning. Me and my family were inside a cell phone store when we came out there was a tow truck and lady standing by my car and had it hooked i asked what was going on she said they were there to take my car. I had told them i made my payment that morning showed them the receipt she tried calling it in whom ever she talked to said it did not show in their computer she told me off went my car. The next day i called credit acceptance and spoke to a lady named audrey she told me i had to pay an extra 700.00 to get my car back. That was the first run in with this company. When i got my car back i called the audrey again and i had asked her if she could set up automatic withdrawal from my checking account she said no problem and i was thinking ok GREAT so everything was going ok for a couple of months until oct.2008 i checked my account nothing was taken out called them back they said they put it threw that morning i said fine waited a couple of more days still nothing was withdrawn. Calle back asked to speak with a supervisor said no one was available called back 2 days later asked to speak with a supervisor again they gave me to a person named Gabriel seemed she knew what she was doing was i ever wrong. She told me they never did automatic withdraw from checking accounts i asked if i could use my debit card she said no. She told me they only take western union and money gram and i said thats bull u know what! To make a long story short i still don't have my car they told when i called the 1st time i had to pay 1375.00 and now its up to 1675.00 i refuse to pay this money and i would urge anybody who wants to buy a car if the salesmen tells you the company is credit acceptance RUN!

KKSMOMMY2008 - Did you not test drive or LOOK at the vehicle you were buying? It's not up to credit acceptance to pick the vehicle for you...that is totally up to you! All they did was pay for it...so, when you buy something and borrow money from someone to buy it, you have to pay them back, whether you have the item still or not. It's your fault you bought a piece of crap, not credit acceptance's. You buy as is when you buy used.

u know i had the same problem with them, i bought my car in oct 07, and the bad thing was my husband was deployed i needed a car and went a picked it up that night from the dealership, well to my surprise that morning i got up to go to work got on the interstate and this car was bounceing everywhere... got to work and one of the guys came out and looked, said my tires were down to the wires, so i called the dealership they told me i bought it AS IS... so i called CA they pretty much told me the same thing, so not only that but my tail light was busted out so that cost me a ticket, and 165.00 later and a lil over 300.00 for new tires, we were transfered to GA and the car was getting worse, so now with the car not turned on at all you step on the brake and it makes this horriable sound... so my folks told me to turn it back over to them and they bought me a better truck... but now CA is trying to get the rest of the bal from me and now i have to pay to have a medatoir talk between me and there attorney... i am planning on filing a lawsuit agianst them cause i turned the car back ove in jan of 09 and the are saying that i did it in april.. i wanted that piece of crap ASAP
