Credit Acceptance Bad business/deception practices

I had an arrangement with credit acceptance in september to pay for a payment which was authorized by them to make repairs to my car due to bad gas in il from bp. This arrangement was completed in october with a payment of $584.00 and I received confirmation from them that the amount was paid. I then received notice in november that my original payment amount of $314 was reinstated. However, this company with drew the amount of $414 and my bank refunded the over payment but credit acceptance demanded that I pay the $414 and wait for them to refund the over payment. I then made my payment of $314 on line but refused to reinstate the auto pay due to their mistake. The customer rep told me she was going to put in my file that I refused to pay. Then in december, january and february I started getting calls of up to 8 times a day demanding that I pay before the due date. I made my payments on line and on time but I am being threatened and harassed with legal action and repossession when the payments are made. This company has a bad reputation and needs to be put out of business and those harassed and threatened should be compensated due to their bad and deceptive business practices.

Credit Acceptance illegal repo/theft of personal property

To begin, Credit Acceptance, the company that financed our vehicle did not send us a Right to Cure letter which is required in the State of Missouri. If this letter had been provided to us, it would have given us the 10 day opportunity to avoid repossession and the additional damages that we incurred at the hands of an Agent contracted by them to secure our vehicle.

Days after redemption payment had been made, we did receive a letter telling us our car had been repossessed and who to contact for information to redeem it, but nothing before the car was picked up.

County Wide Auto Recovery Services repossessed our car on 8/29/2012, redemption debt paid in full on 8/31/2012. An agent at County Wide told us when we called [protected] that we could not pick our vehicle up on that day because the office closed at noon and set an appointment with us for the following business day.

On Tuesday, September 4, 2011, We went to 1600 Heritage Landing, Suite 108 St. Charles, MO 63303 as directed by Credit Acceptance (finance company). We were told that we would have to pay $50.00 for possessions in our vehicle that they DID NOT STORE and to make matters worse, our navigation system, several car chargers, adapters and other misc items had been stolen out of the car.

The police were called and officer Liermann of The St. Charles Missouri police department was dispatched to the scene. A police report was taken but that is just the beginning of the legal action that we are going to take to expose County Wide Auto Recovery for their unethical, deceitful actions. The police officer who took the report also questioned the company owner about not completing an inventory of the items in our vehicle when they repossessed it. Their response was, because the owners were picking up the car, they did not feel as if they had to. We have also learned that the company does not have an active business license in St. Charles Missouri which makes our experience more disturbing.

Dianne Lyman is the owner of County Wide and has not heard the last from us! Any legal assistance would be appreciated in an effort to sue both Credit Acceptance and County Wide Auto Recovery services for their illegal actions.

Julie who is a legal assistant in the Credit Acceptance Legal Department has taken the high road, saying they are not responsible for the theft of our items and have tried intimidation tactics using email to quiet our complaint.

It won't work!

Credit Acceptance harassment

This company, the people who call you are awful the way they do business is terrible. If you get behind ONE payment they really punish you i started out with a 325.00 payment with a lot of interest for a truck bought without looking around stuck in a hard spot rushed into something i wished i would have not done, My payment went from 325.00 to 458.00 i can drive a damn good car for that. They added on late fee's for 12 months and have not one paper breaking anything down nothing to show only been told what i have to do. They can have this truck i can only pay what i agreed to pay on my contract plus a late fee if late. Can these people jack you up like this. I plan to check this out with a attorney just don't seem right. I contacted corporate about the harassing calls they would call me and my payments would be already made i have been thru hell with these idiots i reccomend not doing any business with this company you'll be very disappointed and very pissed off at yourself. I do know when they repo your car or truck they take them to be auctioned off seem's they would rather have people making a payment instead of taking a lost amount because i know i would'nt pay the difference of amount owed that was lost at the auction!

Credit Acceptance constant harassing phone calls and immediate repossession

This company was yes willing to help me due to my credit issues, but the finance charges are totally insane. I purchased a SUV in 2008 and still have 2 more years on it and I am well passed the vehicle's value amount. The placed a device in my vehicle that will shut it off if the payment is late. My payment is due on the 19th, 10 days after with no payment is automatic REPOSSESSION, no questions asked. They call back to back 5 or 6 times a day! Talk about harassing! Why keep calling if what I have to tell you doesn't matter anyway. Word of Advice to anyone. It ain't worth it. If Credit Acceptance offers to finance you, RUN, RUN, as fast as you can.

On 10/26/2006 I purchased a car at Philly Auto Loan and the creditor used to was Credit Acceptance the cost of the Car was 10, 205 and the finance chagers were to be 4290.88 however accodring to the detailed transaction report I recieved from the shows that I have paid 4700.27. When asked why? I was informed it was due to late payments but according to the retail installment contact I should have been charged 2%per month on the amount of the payment or payments late. According to the manager I spoke with named Kathy she informed me that my outstanding balace on the loan is 1002.67. When asked why she informed me that this balance stims from late payments throughout the life of the life of the loan. Keep in mind according to the Retail installment agreement this was to be a simple intrest loan. I continue to ask how are they calculating these figures but I am getting no were with creditors and it appears I may have to pay the addtional monies in order to obtain my title. I also contacted the BBB in Michigan the complaint was closed because the company has not repsonded. If you can help at all please assist.

I currently have a vehicle with CAC and there are pros and cons, for example they are helping me build my credit and what most people do not realize is that during a credit rebuilding you have no options, you are going to pay more than you should but if you hadn't screwed up in the first place then you wouldn't have to find someone to approve you... CAC approved me and they are helping build my credit and yes it's almost 19% interest BUT i am only on 3 years and 9 months financing. NOW I am always on time with my payments but god forbid you are late for example today is 2/27/2012 and my payment is due on the 25th which this month was friday and they are closed on the weekends...well I got paid friday and they were closed on the weekend and I am always on time and pay more than needed but today I have a jack *** call me and was rude to me, they help rebuild but they are ***hols to deal with when it comes to being even a day late... if you can't be on time even one day late they are going to harrass you SEVERAL times a day... word of advice...don't screw up your credit or don't complain because you have to start somewhere.

you sign a contract you promise to pay. when you let your car get repossessed, the dealer does not give the money back. they auction off the car for one third the money, plus they are out taxes to the state. you signed, the bank trusted you, and you stiffed them

when you sign a contract you guarantee by your signature that you will pay the bank back. the person who loses when you don't pay they lose because you didn't fullfill your promise. so they have a right to get their money you borrowed. who else will pay what you borrowed

I went to buy a car and every time I went to check on it or went to have something checked I was told that when the financing went tho there would be a warrentee to get it fixed. On or about December the right front window was put down and would not come back up.
Therefore, I was on my way back to the dealership to find out why, on my way there I received a call from there telling me if I did not return the car they would report the car stolen. I called the salesman and he told me not to worry. I got there and they said it was a fuse but not to use that window until after the financing went through as it would be fixed under the warrentee. I returned home that day and receive a call from Credit Acceptance telling me the car was financed for over a month and I had missed my payment. I told them I knew nothing about that and what the salesman at the dealership had just told me. They advise me to return the car. I tried but they would not let me leave it. The next day I called Credit acceptance back and told them I had not received a payment notice nor did I have anything showing the contract where I had signed for the car. They told me they would come and get the car so I went and removed anything that I had in the car. I went out to get everything out of the car, there was nothing in the glove box and when I walked around the car I noticed there was no plate on it anymore. The dealership people had removed it the day before I guess?
They came a took the car and about 6 months later they have file charges to get the money they claim they lost on the car. Now they are garnishing me to collect. I am trying to find an lawyer to charge the dealership with Freud as well as Credit Acceptance.

Credit Acceptance repossesing/harassment

These people have no feelings for you at all, especially if your are having a difficult time financially. I have just recently lost my job and don't have any income coming in just yet. I got on the phone and called them immediately and told them that I had just lost my job, and would they be willing to work something out with me. The customer service person was very nasty to me saying that they were not a charity company, and that they want their money. Basically, what she told was that she doesn't care about my current situation. I have had my car repossessed and I'm not sure if I'll be able to get it back, since I don't have all of the money that's needed to get it back. What ever you do, please don't deal with them(Credit Acceptance) because they have no loyalty to their customers during them terrible times of hardship.

Credit Acceptance harrassment

This company starts calling on your due date, 3-7 times a day, never knowing anything about your account when you call. They turned off my GPS device I WAS NOT LATE yet the paperwork does not state anything about shutting my car off! In PA it is not late unless its 30 days late. They are harassing and nasty when they call you. This was the only credit company the dealer had available.

Credit Acceptance false reports

The company is reporting inaccurate information to the credit bureaus. They are reporting that I was late with my car payment on December 2010 and January 2011. This is not true, I have never being late on my car payments. I actually pay my car note ahead of time. I noticed the errors January 2011 when I requested a print out of my account and I noticed the late payments that was charged and removed. I called and was ensured that it was not reported to the credit bureaus. When I pulled my credit report in April 2011, I noticed that on credit report it was reported that I was late also 90 days (December 2010, January 2011 and February 2011). I disputed it with all three credit bureaus and I called the company and disputed it with them also. When my TransUnion dispute came back as not changed in April 2011, I contacted the company and left a message for a manager. A manager called me in April 2011 and informed that the information has been changed on their company to reflect that I had no late car payments. He also assured me that it has been updated with the credit bureaus and my credit report will not show any more late payments. I applied for a credit card and was denied, when I pulled my TransUnion credit report, it was still reporting late but this time it was reporting 60 days late (December 2010 and January 2011). I called the company on Monday May 16, 2011 no managers was available so I left two messages asking them why they are still reporting false information to the credit bureaus. Nobody has called me back. I spoke to a TransUnion manager who informed me that the company is still reporting my payments has being late. Every time I call, there is never any managers available.

Credit Acceptance unprofessional representatives

The representatives were very rude and impersonal. After explaining my situation of being double billed...they were very standoffish and defensive...saying it wasn't there fault or problem...the previous week i had alerted one of the representatives about the problem...telling him that I had paid once..therefore the funds were not available for the second withdrawal...he assured me that it wouldn't be an issue and as long as the bank was alerted it would be all right...a week later the second transaction went through anyway and put my account in the negative causing many overdraft fees...I called to inform them of the situation and all i got was unprofessional grief...both by the employee and her manager...they even went as far as to use a little ghetto attitude...which is very lame..even for me as I am an african american myself. There definitely is no reason for anyone to take things personally when in a business situation...right is right...wrong is wrong...if you do not like your job...get a new one...

they treat us dealers like they are doing us a favor. attitude like i don't see with any other company. they have rules that cannot be bent at all. for example you can send them documents that prove they have an account with their current address, but if you don't send them exactly the page they want, even though it has the same info, they will hold funding. common sense says they have the account, but they are not allowed to use common sense

Credit Acceptance bad company

I decided to buy a car and signed all the paperwork to have it set up as auto-pay so I would have no problems with the payments. The first month they decided to turn off my car because they said somebody called them and took off the auto pay. I know for a fact I didn't call them and they didn't call me. I work m-f and leave at 4am. I got into my car this morning and once again my car won't start. I can't call because of there business hours don't open until 8am. So I am screwed because I can't get to work. Not to mention my payment is not even due today. Apperently they do not care what they do to people. How am I suppost to get to work with my car if they keep doing this...?

Credit Acceptance auto pay fraud!

Credit Acceptance is an auto financing company. I pay my car payment on time with them each month and never have an issue. I got a little confident with this kind of service and usually would recommend this company to my friends and co-workers as a great place to get a car loan with bad credit. I received a call from Credit Acceptance asking me if I wanted to signed up for Auto-Pay and I agreed seeing as they explained it would make my life a lot easier not having to do anything on my end each month. So I keep a separate bank account for just my car payment each month so that this kind of thing doesn't effect my other bills, in this case I'm thankful I did, and had the money for the payment in there on the 28th. Little did I know they charged my account 5$ more then they stated they would be charging giving me an overdraft fee on the 4th of April. I then called in to pay my payment even though at the time said they have received my payment and it would not be necessary to pay again. After I stated the overdraft issue they were confused and I paid anyways. Just today the 12th of April I received my second overdraft fee for the same payment even though as I stated before I called them to clear it up. They said it charges your account twice? WTF WHY would they charge a bank account that does not have money in it a second time? They said its designed that way... for what reason would you want to access two 30$ fees to a loyal customer? If I didn't have money in there in the first place what are you going to accomplish by charging twice? I called them and explained the issue and they couldn't of cared any less. Heads up guys!

Credit Acceptance the whole company

My husband and I had our car repossessed and we only owed 295.00. CAC got our car towed ( well the tow guys drove my car instead of hooking it up). We had to pay the tow bill over 300.00 bucks plus 295.00 to get the car back. These are horrible people. We even told the people that it would be 3 days before we could pay the 295.00 b/c we get paid every two weeks. These people need to be put out of business. I am thinking about a lawyer at the moment to get my tow bill money back. If I was 800-1000 behind I could understand but they could not wait 3 more days until we got paid. I would highly reccommend people NOT to got thru CREDIT ACCEPTANCE. THEY ARE RIP OFFS. I am going to trade this car in for another vehicle that is not thru CAC.

Sincerely,

Stephanie Blevins

They harrass you constantly! Non-stop calls at home/work/cell, sometimes 10x per day for me and the same for my wife daily except Sundays! They have no customer service to help you and you can't understand anyone on the phone! Also, if you want top make payment arrangements, you can only do it 21 days prior, EVEN if you want to make automatic payments for months ahead of time! They rip you off! That's their way of getting you for interest! DON'T EVER USE THEM!

Credit Acceptance worst loan company I ever dealt with

This company apparently would rather repo your car then get there money. They obviously outsource there call center so the people there have no idea what they are talking about, more less they are just reading off of a screen when you call there. Heed all of the warnings here Do Not Get A Loan with this company. I promise no one is alway 100% on time with there payments as much as that would be ideal, if you had the money you would have paid for the vehicle with cash. Please rethink your purchase or get a co-signer.

I did a rent with option on a repod home from them, within 2 months it caught on fire 3 times because of electrical they didnt fix, which i didnt know there was an issue with until i had the power turned on. And tge ceiling in my 3 year olds son room caved in, so i gave them time to send someone out to fix it after promises by their manager, no one ever came out. I moved, they reported my to the credit bureau as a mortgage repo. We went to court, i won and 6 years later they are still reporting this but have managed to report it 5 different times on the same credit report by changing the last number by 1 digit each time. The company and equifax refuse to take it off even though they cant proved anyone with my signature on any contracts... Also check out BBB for acceptance loans in pelham alabama... F rating.. This company should be shut down!

Credit Acceptance fraud / repossession

In February 2007, I purchased a vehicle through a local used car dealership. The loan was through Credit Acceptance and problems began almost immediately. My payment agreement was set for 406/month. At that time, I set this up to as an auto draft on my bank account. The company that processed these payments for Credit Acceptance was TruPay. When the paperwork processed at the dealership, the total bi-weekly payment came out to 188 (45 months bi-weekly payments). Not long after that, we recieved a letter from Credit Acceptance saying that there was a mistake made and they needed us to call. I called and was told that they needed to change my bi-weekly payment to 203. I inquired about the every third month when on a bi-weekly schedule, there would be an additional payment scheduled, would they just ignore that payment or would I have to pay this additional payment. I was told then that there was no way to set up the account to stop this payment. I requested a detailed payment schedule from them to include these payments and showing the change on the pay-off date with this included in the mail. I never received so I never approved the increase in the auto draft.
Now we are in February of 2011. We knew that our last payment was due the end of November, 2010. The last auto draft came out of my account November 26, 2010. In December, 2010, we recieved our payment book in the mail (1st time we have ever gotten a payment book). There has been no other mail recieved from them requesting us to contact them or stating any monies were in default. Got up this morning, February 9, 2011 and my car is gone. It has been repossessed. After going through two different representatives with the company, found out that my contract had ended, all principle was paid but there was still outstanding interest due of over $600.00. The first representative stated the amount was 627, thirty minutes later and another representative it was 676. The reason they are giving for the auto draft stopping with money still due was because the contract was over and the principle had been paid.

I have not received any information from them in the mail since November with the exception of my coupon book (again - received after the scheduled pay out date). We have previous to this received numerous letters including the one in February of 2007 to let us know that they were changing companies that process their autodrafts and misc. other items. At no time, did we receive any information from them that the account was in default and at risk for repossession. They have stated that they made numerous attempts to reach us by phone (a number we have not had since 2009) but no attempts on our secondary number which is my husbands cell. I have verified that they did not mail anything to us. They apparently do not handle business that way (we sure do have a crap load of other letters from them-some based upon this loan and others are advertisements). Now we owe not only the interest but an additional 250.00 repossession fee and we have one day to pay or the car goes to auction.
Needless to say, I have spoken to an attorney today who has informed me that the only way to get the car back now (today) is to pay what they are requesting. He is, however, going to look into the case to determine if there are any legal issues and feels as though the information I provided over the phone could in fact, support my claim that there is lending fraud involved. Once I meet with him, if he determines fraud was involved, he will be representing me. If I just let the car go and fraud was involved, they could be forced to pay the total amount loaned along with any interest paid. The problem is, I have to come up with another means of transportation until this is resolved and really cannot afford to do that right now. So they have you where they want you and NO, I will not let this drop.

My car was repossessed in perfect working order new brakes, struts, new inspection now that I paid to get my car out of repo it won’t start . I am mad as hell it was fine before they repossessed it and I told them I’m not paying for a car I can’t drive they need to refinance me for another vehicle or get this one fixed on them.what good is a warranty if nothing is covered.

So originally you signed a contract with the dealer agreeing to pay $406 per month but you refused by only paying 2 payments per month of $188 (with the exception of 2 months per year), which means you paid $376 per month for 10 months a year, but agreed to $406 EVERY MONTH. What if you loaned thousands of dollars to someone who agreed to pay you $406 per month but then only gave you $376 instead? Their account would become deficient (but at the end of each year, would be caught up). You did not fulfill your contractual obligations to Credit Acceptance, and until the vehicle is PAID OFF, which means ALL monies owed are paid back to Credit Acceptance, they can and WILL repossess your vehicle, with or without notice. If you did not pay it off, even if you owed them $1, they legally can take it back from you. If you wanted to stop those two extra payments per year, you simply had to call to stop them or go on the website and cancel them. It's really much simpler to do that and fulfill the contract as you agreed that way, so you wouldn't have repossession, which is now on your credit, and you sitting here paying for a lawyer that obviously knows nothing about the law...Good luck to you.

Credit Acceptance repo

I have had my 2004 chrysler pacifica financed with credit acceptance for 3 years and always paid 10 days after my due date which is the 15 of the month but have always been told that I had a maximum of 15 days. I recently had neck surgery and was out on short term disability so my paycheck got pushed back until 01/28/211. Thinking I was ok on making a car payment 01/29/11 however they repo my car and are charging me an extra 240.00 to get my car back over misinformation I was provided by this company. I will never deal with this company again! I strongly advise anyone against getting a loan from this company.

Credit Acceptance high financing on bad vehicles

I purchased a vehicle from this dealer on 12/4/2010 and he assured the vehicle was in good condition. The day after purchasing vehicle I began to have several problems with the vehicle from the brakes squeaking real bad to loud popping noises in the wheels. I approached the dealer about the issues and basically brushed off and told that there was nothing wrong with the car. I decided to have the vehicle inspected by a mechanic and found out that the car is falling apart. The transmission is bad and slipping, the brakes need to be replaced, the ball joints are bad and subject to go out anytime, it is hard to steer the car when turning, burns excessive amounts of gas (sometimes you can smell gas vapors in the car). I went to talk to the dealer and again he told me there was nothing wrong with the car and threatened to call the cops if I did not leave. His financing charged on his vehicles are very high. he is taking advantage of people and something should be done ab out this guy.

This complaint is concerning one of the dealers that they are partners with. Upon speaking with them about the issue I was just told to take the car back to the dealer. I would still be responsible for the loan, the dealer will not take the vehicle back.

Why would you even call the finance company? They weren't there to pick out the car for you. You picked it...and should have gotten it inspected before purchasing like someone else said. Never trust anyone to tell you something works perfectly when you're buying it...that's why when you purchase a house, you have to have it inspected. Just like if you live in a house, you wouldn't call your mortgage company if your air conditioner breaks or you have plumbing problems.

Credit Acceptance customer service

This company is horrible, there customer service is the worst. I called to make a payment while at work, didnt really have time. All i needed was my account number, and they wouldnt give me my account number, Im trying to pay them, and there were being so disrespectful, talking over me, while im trying to explain why I dont have time, then they are sitting there explaining to me that the conversations are being recorded, cleary showing all to no care for athority, and aspect of what it is to run a creditable business. I told the agent I believe her name was april, was she trying to collect money for the company or make them loose money, she just continued to talk over me. The people companies higher and make customer service is rediculas, they really need to up there standards. They woman makes me not want to even deal with this company at all. To just cancel my whole nature of business with them, they are totally awful...

When they hassle you about car payments, that's not customer service...that's collections. And, if you made the payments on time, they wouldn't call you. If you want them to stop, write them a letter or email because according to the law, you have to provide a written notice to cease all calls if you don't want them to call you again. Google the FDCPA laws. (Fair Debt Collection Practices Act). If they violate the law, rat on them. Simple as that. Please people, do your research before you get all excited about signing a contract for a car that you want. Get a mechanic to check it out and make sure it's ok, READ the contract you are signing and do research on the finance company you will be working with for the next several years until your vehicle is paid off.

I thought I was the only one with this problem! Dear God! I called to day to get my pay off amount and have my loan set up on auto withdrawal on the 20th of the month. I get 15-18 phone calls a day saying I'm late even after it was Credit Acceptance that set up the withdrawal date. My loan papers say the 3rd of the month. Okay, I get this, however, when you call and treat the other person respectfully and they make you feel like a dreg of society-what's up? They wouldn't not give me the payoff amount until I gave them the bank loan information. How is one suppose to get a loan if you don't have the payoff amount? Had some hard times 3 years ago and declared personal bankruptcy. These people are ruthless and have been told that it "is people like me" that ruin it for everyone with car loans! I can't believe the tactics this company uses let only that they get away with it! I would ride a bike to and from work before I EVER got another loan through Credit Acceptance!
